Hi All,

Starting on Monday, February 15th, we will begin to close and remove all General Discussion forums and make some significant changes to Social Groups. We want to refocus the site on the various The Sims games and on the creation of custom content and modifications for these games. The site is called Mod The Sims and the discussions that are not Sims related can be better catered for on other sites and other parts of the internet.

Those of you who have been around for a number of years may recall that this is not the first time that we have removed the General Discussion forums - back then we split the site into MTS and Sims2Community, but the difference today is that we will not be creating a seperate site, nor will we be archiving or allowing reading of the existing threads. This decision has been discussed for almost a year now in one form or other.

The General Discussions forums that will be removed on Monday are:
- Off Topic Discussion
- The Debate Room
- Media Center
- Greater Gaming World
- Computer & Software Technical Support
- Derpy McWTF

The Social Groups section will be renamed to Creative Groups and we will from now onwards only allow groups that are focussing on creativity in the wider sense. You can, for example, set up a group with friends to work together on a project like a neighbourhood or world, gather resources for creative activities like story telling, or discuss things like architecture that can be useful for builders, but Groups are not for off-topic chat, personal issues, debates on real world matters, or fandom chat. We will close and remove existing groups that fit these descriptions.

New groups will have to be approved by a moderator who will make sure that the groups are within the new rules.

The timeline is as follows:
- Starting Monday 15th we will be pruning and removing Social Groups that do not fit in the above criteria.
- Starting ~Wednesday-Thursday 17th/18th we will have completed this and implementing moderation of the new Creative Groups
- By Friday 19th all of the above General Discussion forums will be moved to an inaccessible part of the site and unable to be viewed.

If you wish to copy any text or posts from these forums, please do so in the next week or so.

We have enjoyed having the discussions on MTS (and S2C) over the years, and we wish everybody the best of luck for the future, and look forward to getting back to a more creative atmosphere in the future.
