View Full Version : [moved] I successfully Bodyshopped existing sim.

I successfully copied out existing sims to bodyshop.

As I previous posted, I have succeeded in replacing existing sims character file with other (new or exsisting) sims charater file to change sim's face and name.
If your intension is just changing existing sim's face while preserving house, career, skill and friends/family relationship of exsisting sim, that was enough.

But I could not convert existing sim character file to "pre-made" sim package file which can be uploaded or be edited in Bodyshop, until now.

Now I can do that. At least, hardest part is solved.

This is how I did it:

1. Run SimPE. Open character file of sim you try to copy out
in "...\Neighborhoods\N00X\Characters" folder.

2. Extract "Data File" (type=0xCCCEF852) to file. Quit SimPE

3. Run Bodyshop. Create a new sim with same sex and age group with exsisting sim.

4. Adjust skintone, eyecolor, hair style (all genetic except face features) to look similar to existing sim. Optioanlly, Adjust make-ups and colothings so that it looks like existing sim. No need to adjust face features.
Save the sim. Quit Body shop.

5. Run simPE. Open newly created pre-made sim package file in "...\SavedSims".

6. Replace "Data file" of new sim with "Data File" extracted from the existing sim. Save package file. Quit SimPE.

7. Run Bodyshop. You can see modified "pre-made" sim.
Adjust make-up to let new sim look same as existing sim. Save it.

Now you have "pre-made" sim which looks same as exsiting sim that was created in in-game "CAS" or baby born in game.

Point is that importing "Data File" from character file of existing sims which strores face feature of the sim.
Now, we can copy face feature of exsisting sim. This was hardest part.
It is easy job to let sim have same skin tone, hair-style, eye color, make up and clothings.

Now, make modification to your new sim in Bodyshop. Save it.

Then replace exsiting sim's face with newly modified sim
as I explained in previous posting at "Charter modification with SimPE" thread.

wow, good work zx1111. I'm sure this will come in handy. Maybe somebody will be able to make the process a bit easier eventually.. :) Keep up the good work.

Great work zx1111! I have wanted to do this for a while now, as i created numerous genetic freaks with bodyshop using the "clone/faceputty" trick, then further bred those with others i made in-game with "make a child" using faceblendlimits off. i have some...interesting things i had wanted to be able to export...Now i can! Thank you loads!

How do you change a sims name? I have a daughter who I missed named her name and I was kinda pissed and I wanna fix it.

Just first name? It's simple.

1. Open Neighborhoos file with SimPE. (....\Neighborhoods\N00X\N00X_Neighborhood.package)

2. Browse "Sim Description". In Plugin View, find sim whose name you wish to edit. Then it will show file name of the sim charter file.
( like ....\Neighborhoods\N00X\Characters\N00X_User00183)

3. Open the character file with SimPE. Browse "Catalog Description"

4. You will see one or two instnce of sim's original name.
Replace them with new name. ( esp one with languageID = 1 )

5. Comit change and *Save* file (in Menu).

That's all folks...

The only things I see in the "Saved Sims" folder is assorted skin parts I've made. Is it another folder?

Hey is this a good way to change skins on single sims?

If you just want to change clothes, all you have to do is go to a community lot, buy some more or different ones, and then select your Sims drawer at their house to change into the new outfits.

is there any way you can export an existing sim to be cloned in body shop? so, you could then package it to a website by itself?

NVM! I'm a douche!

poodle, that is exactly what zx1111 explained above ;-)

I'm doing that right now with various Sims, and it works like a charm!

I've just "resurrected" a ghost. *laughs*

Since the genetics of deceased (and not deleted, so they need to be spookin around somewhere!) Sims are still in their file I felt like importing the long dead Michael Bachelor into BS .... hehehe .... very nice!

So do not fear, you can now make a perfect hardcopy of all of your Sims, dead or alive :P

Can I use this method to change the hairstyle of an in game sim without having to re-create the sim from scratch? BTW I have looked for the previous mentioned post and can't find it.
Can anybody point me to that original post?

kamyk why don't you just use a Mirror to change the
hairstyle ?!

kamyk
30th Oct 2004, 07:05 AM
I haven't played much yet, and didn't know about the mirrors. Another computer user formatted drive C: shortly after I installed the SIMS2, and wiped out everything, so I had to restart from scratch. It really kinda sucked because I am doing name brand clothing for teen males, and all my art got wiped too. (I might upload some of it sometime if anybody cares... Jnco, Fubu, Ecko, Starter, etc.)

I solved the hair problem using the bodyshop method, but thanks for the tip anyway. At least someone was courteous enough to respond.

does this mean that you could "put a new face" on a sim already in your game? for instance, if you really wanted identical twins, could you extract the data from one, and put it on another?

poodlescoot
1st Nov 2004, 04:52 AM
I'm going to reply to my own post:

YES. it is possible to copy this data file from sim to sim, to create perfect identical twins.....with an interesting difference:

This data seems to only cover facial mesh. If you were to take the data file from sim a (pale, green eyes) and copy it over to another sim (dark, blue eyes) the facial mesh would go, but the skin and eyes would remain. VERY COOL

By hairstyle I mean color and length.

Umm.... this is totally not working for me, and I have no idea why.

I'm going to attach the .package file for my character as a .zip... could someone then make a .Sims2Skin/Sims2Pack/whatever the Boy Shop files are called for me and attach it?

I'd greatly appreciate it.

Hi!

Is possible to change the skin of your existing sim with this? Cause I really want to change my "Barbie & Ken" doll skins of my sims I created when there weren't any nude skins available.

Thanks.

I think the thread "Charter modification with SimPE" was lost, any chance you could repost? I searched the entire forum looking for it. I would love to be able to replace the Skin of my current sims with modified versions..Thx!

Thanks. The only ways to do this now--listed above, or using Enhancer--mean swapping out the entire body, face and all...

I'm eager to do this--give all my favorite Sims some genuine nether-regions!--but I made most of them in CAS, and would never be able to re-create their faces exactly.

Unless we can figure out a way to swap out the body only, it won't be the same sim, to me...

I, too, did a search for "Charter modification with SimPE"...with no luck. This was posted in "Character modification with SimPE" so I thought I'd quote zx1111's original post for those of you who had a problem finding it like I did. (I see someone else up thread posted that they couldn't find the post, and this may be why.) Thank you, zx1111.

Yeah, It worked!

I replaced charater file with new one...
And now, she has new face and new first name...

How it was done:

0. Backup your Sims 2 data.

1. Let say original sim's first name is "Olive", family name, "Francis".
I like to change her face/skintone and change first name to "Nancy".

2. Open Neighborhood.package with SimPE.
Find out Olive's character file name and SimID with SimPE..
(let's say that it is ".../N001/N001_User00188.package" and
SimID is 0x11223344 - 8 digit hexa number, write them down)
Move the charcter file to safe place for backup.
I recommand you to save N001_Neighborhood.pakage, too.

3. Enter Sims 2 game. Make a New neighborhood,
Make a family named "Francis" (same as original family)
in this brand new neighborhood.

4. Make a New sim with name of "Nancy". Change her look as you like.
She has new look and name but must have same sex and age group
(adult/child..) with original "Olive". Save family and quit Sims 2.

5. Open N00X_Neighborhood.package of new neighborhood with SimPE.
Find out new character file and Sim ID of "Nancy" .
(lets say that the file is "N005/N005_User00111.package" and
SimID is 0x55667788)

6. Open up Nancy's character file with SimPE
Extract "Object Data" item into a file. Don't quit SimPE.

7. Open extracted file with hexa editor.
Find *two* instance of string "N005_User00111" and
replace them with "N001_User00188".

8. Find 4 byte instance of Nancy's SimID ( i.e. 88 77 66 55 (little endian))
and replace it with Olive's SimID ( i.e 44 33 22 11 )
Save the change.

9. Back to SimPE, "replace" "Object Data" with newly edited data.
Save the package file. quit SimPE.

10. Copy new modified "N005/N005_User00111.package"
to old "N001/N001_User00188.package".
Make sure that you already moved old file to safe place.

11. Fire up Sims 2 game. Enter "Francis" family of original Neighborhood.
Check if her face is changed; Check first and family name, too.

If plastic surgery and fake ID renewal for "Once-Olive, Now nancy" sim are OK,
Witness Protection Program is succesfully done.

Making new neigborhood could be be avoided if SimPE provides
means of editing Catalog Description STR# (family name string)
resource of Character file.
Hexa editing can not be used due to string length diffrence
and non-latin1 character set code.

Caveats: Family photo is not changed. Need to modify Neighborhood file.

Thanks a lot! Quaxi..

Well I got how to extract the facial features and edit them in the body shop. But I couldn't stick them back into the Sim. That is my sim was the maid and my goal was to make her look more appealing.

Though the maid skin is available you in the d/l section. There isn't a skin for the hair i.e. the maid hat. I've been trying to find out how i could extract that and transfer it to other hair styles. Maybe i'll have to wait.

So I looking at this thread I tried to change the current maid facial features. Tried replacing the

4F424A44 - Object Data - 00000000-FFFFFFFF-00000080.simpe

Hex Edited the Reference

But where do I need to look for to get the SimID
I opened up the N001_Neighborhood.package but which file do i look at?

If you replace the "facial structure" property of your target sim with the extracted file from the edited skin, that should work. I find that the new face doesn't show up until your sim changes appearance with the mirror.

This should perhaps be moved to the tutorials section, as now that SimPE has a "surgery option", this is a lot handier (as you can export the sim via this method, then alter it, then use surgery to change it to the altered version)
