Can't call family/What's wrong with downtownies?

Ok, just as it says, I can't call family members on the phones. I can call other sims, but the family members that have moved out don't show up on the contacts list, even though they definatly have phones. It doesn't work to go into the other members house to call either. They can still be invited over for parties though.
And is it my game or do downtownies not have any phones? I could of sworn that they did, but I can't call them because the pop up says that they don't have phones, but they can still call the house.
Is there any patches to fix this? I have J.M. Pescados phone hack installed but I don't know if that's affecting it or not.

Ok, well, you have a phone hack installed and you're having issues with the phone...so I'd say take out the hack temporarily and see if that helps.

I have the same problem, so I removed my phone hack but the hack still appears in the game, and I still have the problem of not being able to call family.
