View Full Version : Multiple problems installing EPs

Okay, I got both of TS2 Eps for Christmas and have gone through so much just to get to play them. haha. I've bought and installed new memory, fought with adding a new hard drive, and I've been working on just installing the EPs since yesterday around noon and still haven't had any luck. First they didn't work because an error said my original TS2 game hadn't been installed correctly. After fighting with that for awhile, I did the whole making a Disk images folder and it finally installed and I got the EPs to install. Well... when I tried to play the game, TS2 and Nightlife was working properly but University acted like I hadn't even installed it. I figured this was probably because I hadn't opened the game after I installed it or anything but I might be wrong. Anyway, I tried to uninstall Nightlife so I could go back and just try playing the game with the original and EP1. For some reason, uninstall would NOT work, period. When I clicked on it (either on Nightlife or University) it would just act like it was going to open but it wouldn't do anything. I tried shutting down every other program and doing it again, but it wouldn't work. I got frustrated then and just sent all of the expansion pack stuff to the recycle bin and deleted them. I'm probably giving you all more information than you need, but I suppose at least this way you might be able to better figure out what's wrong. Anyway, I tried to open TS2 after that and it said I needed the EP cd but when I put the Ep cd in, autoplay came on like I needed to install it. So, I tried to uninstall the original TS2 but it said I had to unistall the EPs first. Of course, i couldn't do that because 1) the EP uninstalls wouldn't work and 2) I had deleted all of the EP stuff. So... I deleted the original TS2 stuff and tried to reinstall it all again. TS2 installs fine, but when it gets to 100% of University installation, it does that thing where it says something about updating your Sims or something and then it has an error and uninstalls itself. I've deleted my Sims 2 folder in my documents and everything the FAQs suggests. I'm assuming this is all probably because I just deleted the files instead of uninstalling, but I COULDN'T uninstall it, it just wouldn't work. Also I keep all of my Sims stuff on my F drive and the control panel on C drive doesn't recognize the files on F drive... so I couldn't go to Add/Remove programs. So basically what I'm asking is if there are files somewhere I have to delete so that TS2 won't recognize the EPs and I can uninstall all of this mess and try again. :snore: If any of you can help, I'll GREATLY appreciate it, but I'll probably be back if University causes me the same problems as it did when I first got it installed. Thank you all!

Goto thesims2.ea.com and goto support. They will tell you how to uninstall it manually, since you already deleted it one less step :giggler:
The error may have occured in installation, i do not know. Try to reinstall after following Support Instructions and then tell me what happens.

haha I found that thread in Support after I ran a Google search for "deleted uninstall sims" I'm working on it right now. Hopefully I won't have the problem with University not working right this time around.

You'll probably need to force uninstall (remove all the registry entries as well), and then reinstall by first copying your files to your hard drive. This may help:
