View Full Version : A quick backup question - not game emergency but important

So the time has come for me to reformat my "wonderful, loving" machine. It really has nothing to do with the game, I'm just having too many problems with the computer in general and I want to back up the important stuff and wipe it all clean. So my question is: are the guides for game backup for EP prep just as useful as just game backup so I can reformat this POS I'm using and not worry about losing/ruining all my sims?

I know it sounds like a very dumb question, because I've read through the guides and as far as I can tell it'll work, I just want to be TOTALLY sure (well, as totally sure as I can be) that I won't screw up my game. I don't have any EPs, just TS2.

I'm REALLY REALLY sorry and beg for your momentary forgiveness if this has already been asked before. I used the search to check for it and I skimmed through the forums but I didn't do a completely thorough search ~:) And thank you x 913819035.835 if you can help ~:)

You should probably backup anyplace that has custom content, like Downloads, SavedSims, Projects, Neighborhoods, and possibly Collections, if you've downloaded any custom collections. Personally, I'd just burn everything to CD and then copy it all back.

And any scripts you may have changed.

If you save the entire contents of my documents/ EAgames/ the sims2 then you will have all of the custom content and saved games (except for the script changes, as previously mentioned).

Many scripts are in there, there's also some in the game's program files.
