It's the third time it's happened. I make new Sims, use them, save them and close the game. Then when I start the game again to continue playing, they're gone. I've been searching for an answer for the past half hour (I'd have looked further but I haven't eaten all day and my patient is a bit low. I'm eating now.) and found nothing.

Circumstances when this has happened:
1. Obscene amounts of downloaded content, no cheats active.
2. Most of the downloaded content had been removed, only content left has been cleared for bugs and corrupted data, cheat was in use the last few minutes of gameplay.
3. Same content as before, cheats were in full force due to trying to catch up to the state the sims were in during their previous existance.

I re-installed Sims 2 + University due to crashing issues that were probably related to downloads. I don't know what to do now.

There have been two other threads about this recently: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=186942 and http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=186170

We're still trying to figure out what causes this and haven't come up with a solid answer yet. But some of the things that have been tried are to back up the entire My Docs/EA Games/The Sims2 folder and run the game with your Downloads folder moved to your desktop. Please see this (http://www.modthesims2.com/article.php?t=139718) FAQ for more info about that process. Also, if you're running Windows XP Home, you can try removing the read only status from the My Docs folder.

I already tried running the game with the Download folder empty and I found those threads a few minutes ago and was trying all the sugestions that were made but none of them work. I have Windows XP Pro so maybe it's all the XP verisons.

I'll stay vigilant on all the threads to see if anyone comes up with a solution.
Thanks, though.

I wish I had a better answer for you at this point. I'll keep this thread open so if you happen across something that works or you might think is relevant, please post back here.

I think you are the first person with XP pro that I've heard of with this problem, so your information is very useful. Thankyou.
