Is there a way to undelete a sim/sim family? I think I deleted while bulldozing a lot (didn't think that could be done, but...) I thought I'd removed them to the bin and bulldozed. When I went to the Sim Bin they were not there. I checked the package files using SimPE and they are there, but missing most of the files to make them "live" (I'm not sure of the lingo, but if you know SimPE, you know what I mean-- active sims have a lot more information than "de-activated" ones.) Please tell me there is a way to undo this or at least copy the de-activated to a new Sim. I hate the thought of having to co through all the customizing again. Thanks...

As Promised... he is the procedure to restore a family that has been accidentally deleted. For clarity's sake, my family was bulldozed from the property. Here it is...

If you are unlucky enough (or in my case, stupid enough) to accidentally delete a Sim (or in my case, the entire family), I have found a way to re-insert your Sim (Family) into the game. To do this you will need SimPe (and a little bit of patience). You can find SimPe at the following link: http://sims.ambertation.de/

First you must restore, the Sims in question. When a Sim is deleted, a new package file is created, storing your deleted Sim as a back up file. This step is necessary to retain inventory, aspiration points, and any adjustments made to you Sim using SimPe.

(1) Open the back up file for the deleted Sim.

(a) From the File drop down menu list, choose “Open”. The Open Package Window will pop up.
(b) From the “Look In:” drop down menu, choose
“My Documents”
“EA Games”
“The Sims 2”
“Neighborhoods”
“N00X” (“X” being the neighborhood your Sim resided in), and finally,
“Characters”
(c) From the list of Sims, type in the file name: “N00X_User00YYY.bak” (“X” is your neighborhood and “YYY”) and choose button “Open”
(d) From the File drop down menu, choose, “Save As”. Make sure the “save As file type” reads “DBPF Package” and choose “Ok” button.
(e) Repeat for all deleted Sims.

Next you must add to existing Sim Family. (You can either create a new family specifically for this purpose or add to an existing family already on a lot of in you Sim Bin. You should not be alarmed if only the picture of the existing Sim appears in the Sim Family Bin. Once you have successfully installed the revised family onto a lot and saved the lot, the added Sims will appear with the rest of the family.

(2) Open the Neighborhood package file of the deleted Sim(s).

(a) From the File drop down menu list, choose “Open”. The Open Package Window will pop up.
(b) From the “Look In:” drop down menu, choose
“My Documents”
“EA Games”
“The Sims 2”
“Neighborhoods”
“N00X” (“X” being the neighborhood your Sim resided in), and finally,
(c) Selected the file “N00X_Neighborhood.package”
(d) In the left margin window “Resource Tree”, click on “Family Information”. A list of families will appear in the “Resource List” window.
(e) Choose the family you wish to add the deleted Sims to. The FAMi editor will appear in the “Plugin View” window.
(f) To the right of the field “Family Members” is a drop down menu, scroll through and find the name(s) of the restored Sim(s). Once you choose a Sim, the “<-- add Sim” button will become available, click once. Repeat for all Sims being restored and the names and GUID will appear in the ‘Family Members” field.

(3) Restore relationships between the deleted Sim(s).

(a) In the left margin window “Resource Tree”, click on “Sim Relations”. A list of all Sims will appear in the “Resource List” window. (Note: Clicking on the heading column “Name” will put the list in alphabetical order).

(b) To establish a relationship between Sim “A” and Sim “B”, open the file, “Sim ‘A’ towards Sim ‘B’.” Double click this file to open in the “Plugin View” window.

(c) To increase Daily and Lifetime levels, drag the green bar toward the right (drag to the left to decrease).

(d) To create “blood ties”, use the drop down menu “Relation Type”. You can also establish, friends, acquaintances, engagements, marriages, etc. by checking the boxes under the “Relation Type” drop down menu.

(e) To complete the process you must add the same information in the file “Sim ‘B’ towards Sim ‘A’.” (for blood relations, engagements, marriages, etc.). This step should be repeated for all added Sims.

Now it’s time to return to the Game and finish the process. If you installed the salvaged Sims into a family already on a lot, you can simply go to that lot and either move the family (I just have one of the members look in the newspaper and choose “Find Own Place” and just load on the rest of the family. Or if I want the family to remain on that lot, have the original Sim move out. You can change the name of the family while you’re in the “Family Information” window. (see step #2).

As I said, it’s a bit tedious, but after spending several hours, getting my Sims juuuusst right I didn’t want to go through all of that again and this method allows them to retain their personal inventory, aspiration rewards, jobs, skills, etc.

Special thanks and magnanimous praise must be given to the creator(s) of SimPe. It is a wonderful tool for many, many reasons and has made my game play completely enjoyable. Thank you, thank you, thank you! If I have infringed on anyone’s rights, etc. By sincere apologies—please alert me and I will adjust accordingly.
