Baby's face is terribly deformed

Two of my sims--both with custom eyes/skins-- got married and wanted kids. Fine by me, says I; they're both gorgeous sims, and I was looking forward to seeing how their bundle of joy would turn out. The baby's born, and it's everything I hoped it would be: big green eyes, one of Enayla's gorgeous custom skins, and pretty much perfect in every way.

Fast forward three days to the baby becoming a toddler. At first I thought I was imagining things, but when I zoomed in on the kid I was horrified.

The image below is the result of their union-- I aged it through childhood, and the results were no less horrifying. I have used these custom skins/eyes with no prior problems; in fact, this baby's mother and two of her three sisters were all born with the same custom features, and they were gorgeous.

My only guess is that the features of the parents are somehow too drastically different for the game to resolve. But I really can't see how that's possible, because the male (who was made in bodyshop; the mother was born in-game) doesn't have any grossly misshapen or sunken features that would throw off the game to this extent.

I'm at my wits end with this thing, because I was so looking forward to their having children, and now I'm afraid I'll be stuck with adopting so they don't have horrific monster babies. If anyone has any idea as to what could be causing this, I'd be eternally grateful.

They were talking about this on another board, a face appearing on one of her skins and someone checked that skin in SimPE?... and I can't remember which one isn't linked to a toddler skin that's why it does that. Pixie Falls I believe, but please don't hold me to that. If that's the one your using let them age naturally don't use anything to fast forward them or age them and it should fix itself. If not you'll have to get the custom skin selector by and re-apply it. As a toddler it's trying to use the baby skin someone else found, for the toddler skin which really makes them weird looking. It's just one of her skins that does that as far as I have heard. I have had several babies born in game with her skins and they've all been perfect.

Here is the link to the custom skintone selector by ChristianLov, if it doesn't fix itself naturally just wait till the toddler is a child and use this on them, that will fix it. Or you could get his clone/copy surgical mirror, that one isn't a global mod and it will fix it as well.

I think I'll have to hold you to that, because that's exactly the skin I'm using. :lol:

That explains everything, then. Pixie Falls IS an Enayla skin I've just recently downloaded; since it was working on the baby, it didn't occur to me that it wasn't linked for toddler and child. I've never used SimPE or Insiminator, so I've never fiddled around with the actual package files to discover these sorts of things. Thank you SO MUCH for the help, and I'm glad to know that my child won't be some sort of freak monster for its entire life. I can stomach its ugliness if I know it's going to turn into a cutie at the end.

EDIT: It actually turns out I'm using pixie darling, but your explanation made so much sense I'm still going to go with it. I'll try disabling darling to see if it fixes the problem; if that's the trouble, I'll just have to grin and bear it. Thanks again!

It may have been Pixie Darling, I honestly can't remember which one it was exactly, but I do remember it was Pixie something. It may be the same on that whole set, and they just found it on that one so checked it in SimPE. I'm no expert in SimPE either so I wouldn't have the first idea how to check the skins and what they have. I just came across the thread and went back to look for you so I could see if they did anything special, I can't find it again. But the child looked normal in pic, the toddler looked like I don't know....but it was about like your pic. hehehe

Go through this thread to see if there are more problems with it. If there aren't report the problem to the creator.

Err, that doesn't look like a problem with the skin. The skintone itself is displaying fine on that sim, and skintones won't cause the actual face shape to be messed up.

That's a common problem with ALL toddlers, and with second-generation sims in general. You should see some of the horrible little monstrocities I've had in my game. One of my favourite sims looks just like Chuckie when aged down to toddler. I can't imagine what her kids would look like.

Toddlers just often look [dolphin-squeak]ing hideous, especially if their parents have unique faces. It's not a problem with Enayla's skin, which is linked up just fine (I checked it myself just now). Wait till she grows up and hope for the best - and if she's still ugly, there's always plastic surgery. But the skin is fine. ;)

Claudia and another downloaded sim (downloaded as a female and turned into a male). I think it was one of Belle Anges sims.

Ohhh, well, that explains it. Yeah, my dear Claudia looks just like Chuckie as a toddler (and not a whole lot better as a child - pretty bad till she turns into a teen). No wonder they're so hideous. Poor kids. :giggle:

I've seen those reports too and for a while i believed the problem was Pets. But i finally figured that the problem was two good looking faces made in BS. The game can't blend them together and you end up with horrible looking kids. My advice is to always check sims in BS to see if they look good as toddlers/kids. Some pretty adults can look horrible as toddlers/kids.

Yup, my self-sim was definitely created pre-Pets and, err, I've never patched.

I always check my sims that I plan on breeding not only for looking good as toddlers and kids but also how they look when gender-switched. A sim that looks good gender-switched as well as aged down generally has a better chance of breeding well than those that don't.

LOL, so I checked my sim in body shop and you guys were right. He's fine as a teen and onwards, but as a toddler he has a nose like owen wilson and all sorts of crazy facial geometry. I create BS characters so rarely that I didn't even know I was supposed to check for that sort of thing. I'm glad I know now, because it turns out one of my other favorite sims looks malformed and atrocious as a baby. Luckily he and his wife are both pleasure sims, so I doubt they'll be rushing to have kids any time soon.
