On every computer that I've installed the Sims2 on, it seems to mess it up. My computer has been crashing and I've been having problems with it for a while now. It started getting really bad when I began downloading mods and things for my game. Now the computer crashes quite badly almost daily. I was wondering if anyone else is having similar problems, or if someone has some advice on how to fix this. Please help me :help:

Err, okay, well, The Sims 2 itself won't cause computer problems... nor will downloading and installing content for it, assuming you're doing it correctly, following our Downloading for Fracking Idiots guide. Don't install any .exe or .bat files that you may run across unless they're from reputable sources.

Is the crashing happening when actually running The Sims 2, or at other points? If it's just in general, I would really doubt it's related to The Sims 2 or installing any mods for it unless you've had a corrupted installation, or run file types you shouldn't from a place that wasn't reputable. I don't know of any sites that have any bad files that come along with their content, but ya never know. Certainly, absolutely everything downloaded from MTS2 is safe, and generally the reports of "omg suchandsuch site has a virus!!" have been due to over-panicky antivirus software programs triggering on things that aren't viruses.

If it's just in general, not when you're running the game, it's probably -not- related to the game. I'd suggest doing some basic system checkup stuff: http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:System_Checkup

Go through the tips and info listed there and if you're still having problems, post up your full system specifications: http://www.modthesims2.com/article.php?t=112711

... as well as the full exact text of any error messages you're getting and exactly when these crashes have occurred.
