Game stops loading at certain spot

i can open the sims 2 but after i go through the ea games and maxis ads i skip the intro and the game starts loading but every time it stops when the loading screen says "Requisitioning Alumni Donations", it just stops and then i exit and it says that the sims 2 university is not responding. anyone know how to fix this? thank you.

is it around the middle of loading? (i dont remember the words for uni) in my experience you've downloaded an object that isnt compatible with your game...i.e...is made with an ep you don't have. this happened to me a lot before i caught up on expansions.
There really could be a million reasons...but there's the place to start.
