Making a neighborhood as a subhood question

I hope I have posted my question in the correct place here. I'm new, and am still learning my way around here.

I found on the webb a complete neighborhood, with houses, business, and no sims. Does any here know how I can make it where it would be for instance, the Shopping District of one of my main hoods? I already have 6 main hoods, and don't really want a seventh.

You would need the sc4 terrain file of the neighborhood to do this, do you have that? If yes, it would be quite easy (albeit a bit tedious):

* Install the complete hood
* Move all lots into the lot bin
* Delete the complete hood
* Make a new subhood in one of your main hoods, using the terrain file mentioned above
* Put in the lots.

Unfortunately there's no easy way (that I know about) to move neighbourhood decorations around .. you'll have to recreate them in your new subhood.

And unless the creator very specifically states that the neighbourhood is unoccupied, do pay attention that you don't accidentially move an occupied lot in this way. Only ever move *empty* lots between neighbourhoods.
