I wondered if anyone else has noticed that the Breadfruit Tree (Bon Voyage) when hit by lightning continues to burn for up to two weeks. The rain will not put it out and the Sims are not able to extinguish it as they can with some of the other things. It doesn't really hurt anything it's just somewhat distracting. I attempted to have the fire department put it out but was soundly admonished for making a prank emergency call when no emergency existed. Also, when the fire does eventually go out the tree is just as before, meaning no damage at all. :wtf:

Yes. This happened to me just today, as a matter of fact. I have absolutely no idea what to do about it, either.

Does this happen without custom content? It may be a hack conflict, or it may just be a Maxian mistake. You should be able to use the InSim to enable buy and build modes and sell the fire.

This happens to me with and without CC. I'm unable to get rid of the fire at all...not even "Extinguish All Fires" in inSim's "Other" menu will get rid of it. The game doesn't seem to recognize it as a real fire - no fire alarms, no Sim distress, and the firemen leave as soon as they show up because it's a "false alarm." As yet, the fire hasn't gone out for me, although ridBonnie reports that her fire went out eventually.

http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,1609.0.html I would suggest the stuckobject remover. Snag the version for your game config in the Armory>hack directory. It's a handy thing to have with invisible, and visible, stuck objects. Fire is a common stuck object, and I speak from experience lol. This should get rid of it for you. :)

Thanks! Speaking for myself, of course.

I have something to add...just now, I used testingCheatsEnabled true and forced an error on the tree. After clicking "reset," the fire disappeared.
This is the only solution I've found so far. Make sure to turn the testingCheats cheat back to false when you're done.

Yup - I was gonna suggest you tried forcing an error when I saw Canoodle mention stuck objects. I hadn't thought of it as an error with the tree rather than the fire before. Glad it's ok now. :)
