I have all exp paks & majority of stuff paks, my game was running smoothly for several months even BV was working great on my pc. However, recently called up my game got the sims launcher (I bought Seasons & BV thru the EA download manager) clicked "play" and nothing happens. Well to try an shorten this dilemma, after days of frustration in getting my game running again I ended up having to uninstall everything, I removed my custom content for safe keeping and began to reinstall without my custom Content. I tested each game after I installed to see if I could find which game was the problem, well got as far as BV and it happened all over again (remember this was a clean install no custom content all game files only) call up the game and nothing happens.

I've heard alot about this securom or whatever its called could that be the problem? however this problem didn't start until after I had the game installed an had been playing it for months. After I uninstalled BV Seasons ran perfectly but all my saved game files were run with BV so they will not work in Seasons at all. I'm hoping someone out there has an answer for me cuz EA support hasn't answered my plea for help.

Have you tried bypassing the BV launcher (http://www.modthesims2.com/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Bypassing_Bon_Voyage_Launcher)? It's worth a shot. :)

This is a fairly common problem now. You try to start it, it doesn't load properly, but it leave a partly-loaded Sims 2 stuck in the process list so you can't start it again anyway. Each time this happens, simply try rebooting your computer or killing the leftover process stub and try again. I can sometimes try as much as 8 times before it finally loads.

I have the exact same problem as listed above, except that I only have Nightlife , Seasons, and BV, and that my BV only worked for 2 hours before it refused to open. Other then that the same things are happening and I am incredibly frustrated because I want to access my saved BV games as well as the features.

I tried bypassing the launcher and nothing. I have requests sent into EA, and I've been scanning all threads.

All I can think of is that it has to do with secuROM. Does anyone have a satisfying answer to this problem?

Mcaruso, did you try removing your downloads folder?

Also, delete those game generated .cache files as outlined in the above tutorial. Let us know how you get on. :)

yes, I removed all custom content, all saved files, I did it incrementally, then removed it all at once, I tried every combination of removals to see what the problem might be, then I uninstalled and reinstalled everything. The same problem occurs when I get to Bon Voyage. Bypassing the launcher doesn't work, and i've tried opening it multiple times like Inge Jones said and that hasn't worked. I sent in a request to EA games and have gotten no response, and sent in a request to the secuROM guys with the log file and they say it doesn't have to do with secuRom. I'm so confused...

:!: I last played Jan 3. Have been trying to get into this stupid game for the past 2 hours and nothing. When I do get it to load, it now tells me that I don't have a directx capable graphics card! I'm almost furious at this point. So I replaced the entire TSBin folder of BV and TSS and still can't get in. I am now going to restart my computer and see if that will work. Delete the groups cache folder about 90 minutes ago but that didn't work either. That is usually my ticket. I will remove the downloads folder next but I do not understand why this keeps happening. I've had more downtime since installing BV than I've had play time. When I can get it to run, I play for days on end until it crashes on me because it's too much trouble. Sorry but I'm just venting....

okay somehow it worked and I'm in the game now. Don't know what happened that made it change. It's weird and it happens frequently and randomly.... Pooh

Indeed, this has happened to me too. Its not the custom content because I have run through all the procedures and none of them point to custom content. In fact, I'm only posting here because my game isn't working at the moment either. I'm sure with all of the replies about this problem the team is getting, they must be trying to fix it somehow. The most likely culprit has something to do with BV (obviously) If it helps any, I make stories for TSR and after the sims 2 stopped working, I went into my story wizard and they story I had just created was gone. Alas, the last time I uninstall BV, I lost the family again, even though all my other files were backed up and saved.

I have the same problem. I'm running XP; I have all EPs and all Stuff Packs except H&M. BV has worked beautifully for me ever since I purchased it shortly after it first came out. Then all of a sudden today (I have added no new downloads or anything since I last played it) it just decided not to load! I've tried six times so far, and no luck.

Is the general procedure for this still to just keep trying until it works? How many times does it usually take before the game runs properly?

Abi gal - try deleting your groups.cache file. Sometimes that gets borked and the game refuses to load. If that doesn't do the trick, I would suggest working our gamehelp FAQ, as it could be game files as well as user files.

I have a similar problem. Yesturday I played and Sims worked ok.
Today I tried to play as usual. CD was in the PC (windows XP), expansion pact 1 to 6 no stuff pack at all, tha "starting" screen comes uo and I click play.

Then nothing happenes. Not even in task manager. I restarted the PC, nothing happenes.
I do not have anything done to my pc or game meanwhile. (yesturday and today)

Why it does not even try to start.

Have you tried everything suggested in this thread?

Mrs. Weasley, what happened when you went through the FAQ for gamehelp? Did it help to remove your downloads folder? Did deleting the group.cache file help? What happened with a clean sims2 folder?

Try deleting the groups.cache file (which is part of the following tutorial). If that doesn't work try the gamehelp FAQ:

Hello

yes I tried everything suggested in this thread, also I moved my DL's to save keeping, This has happened to me earlier too. Actually this happens everytime when I try to make own city. So I do not usually bother to do it. This time I tried.. and with poor results.

Now I do not have any cheats, hacks or global hacks. And the game still wont start.

This is the "fun" part, I playend sims day before the incident and it worked ok, then I added nothing, changed nothing and tried to play...
Nothing happened.

Just like when you drive home from work, leave your car into the garage and next morning car would not simply start... :!:

I have been having this problem for the past few days. Yesterday I posted a question about it on MATY, and someone suggested that securom could be the cause of it. I went to BBS, found a tool that removes securom from the game, and now the problem is solved. Apparently if you are logged in with a user account instead of as the administrator, it might not let you open the game because of securom. Due to some glitch on my computer I was not showing up as the administrator, so securom was not letting the game open. The link for the tool on BBS is in a secruom sticky in the technical help section.

Yes. Securom is known to cause those problems. But, that involves uninstalling BV, H & M and Teen stuff. If you reinstall the software..wham, Securom troubles again. But, at least you know how to get rid of it if that is the cause of your problems.

Luckily, we haven't encountered much problem with it here. It mostly seems that the launcher borks the games.

I'm also bypassing the launcher, but that by itself did not help.
