I downloaded SimPE with a wish to edit Sims' characteristics, but strangely once I pick a neighborhood and then Sim description, SimPE loads Sims with Russian names. Now I know that I'm from Russia, but my game is installed in English. That means that if I commit any changes, sim names will be messed up...
Maybe it wouldn't be a big problem if I wanted to edit just a couple of sims, but I want to edit many many many :). I can't remember all of their names in English to rename them in SimPE and thinking up new names is very tiresome.
Please help, how can I make SimPE display names in English?

Ok, this one just got self-solved...
I downloaded a .7z SimPE package and it automatically detected the system language and changed the names accordingly.
Just now I downloaded an .exe installer instead, and it gave me an option to choose which languages should be installed, and now everything is okay.
So if anybody has a problem with names in a language that differs from game language, install using the .exe file, not a .7z.

No I was wrong...
Only the interface language changed. The names are still in Russian.
What can be done? :(

Just scroll to the language you want to see or edit, and edit the name for that language

What do you mean, where to scroll for the language?
As for editing names, I did edit a few names in SimPE writing them in English instead of Russian, and it turned out to have bad consequences... Suddenly I have clones in game! They look the same, but names are different. Damn.

I can't identify with what you're experiencing. There must be something else you're doing that you're not telling about, because editing a sim's name in SimPE cannot create two of the same sim.

Okay if you say so, that must be something else. Although I haven't been doing anything that I remember of, but probably did it accidentally :\
But you still didn't say where to scroll languages to make the names show themselves in English. I can't find such an option in SimPE. Upon installation I unmarked all languages except English.
P.S. You know, I found out that when you edit a sim without changing the name from Russian to English, the sim will be edited in the game and his name won't change to Russian even though you hit "commit changes". I.e. somehow the game just "translates" and it's ok. But it's still very difficult to search for a sim I need by clicking on each sim and looking at each face to locate the one I need, lol.

Unfortunately I am having trouble understanding exactly what you did. All I can tell you is if you have two of any sim it is nothing to do with editing a name. I think maybe you need to simply gain more experience of using SimPE and then it will come to you what you need to do. You could try some of the tutorials on this site. I advise you to always try out what you want to do on sims in a test neighborhood first, so you don't mess up your important sims.
