View Full Version : Pie Menu not showing on diagonal object
19th Apr 2009, 05:51 PM
I am making a window with an open and close option on a pie menu. I have a working version for the straight, but not yet for the diagonal. I cannot get the pie menu to show up on the diagonal version.
This is not an animation, it is a graphics swap and so in the object there are multiple cres etc. Please can someone take a look at my diagonal version? Warning - the wall mask etc is not finished nor is the window uvmapped - I am just at the stage where I am trying to see my pie menu.....

Diagonal versions use a seperate GUID, with a seperate OBJD. That OBJD will also need to be made to point to the TTAB.

Yes, I know, I already tried that; I have the same instance number for pie menu strings and TTAB as the objd data table reference id, all are in the diagonal version of the window, but I cannot see the pie menu when I click on the window.

Two of the three objds have 0xffff as their interaction table ID. Fix those ones too? :)

Hi Echo - but the straight window works, no problems. It is the diagonal only that has an issue....I changed the interaction iD etc in the straight to 1 anyway, to be neat.....
see small film of opening Straight window. Of course, I have a working window on the straight, but to make it work on the diagonal too would be super.

It's hard to tell which is the master in a diagonal. I suggest you change every objd in both to the required menu, just for luck. It does no harm where it isn't used.

Hi Inge - I did do that - no luck........

Do you know the "Animated Windows" hack by (originally) Atavera?
Maybe it would help you if you'd look into that and see how it's done? I have no idea whether the way this works is even remotely similar to yours, but it does work on diagonals too.

Hi Plasticbox - thanks for trying to help - the Atavera hack does work on the base game windows with the good slots - but he uses an animation, this is just a graphic swap. I am going to test on another window, try and add a view option, see what that does. All is ready - just no pie menu......
Ok, well my problem appears to be diagonal windows in general. I will dig in the BHAV a bit - time for a more complex BHAV. Darn.
ALSO: A strange thing - in games without seasons when running the options from the pie menu the swapped mesh reverts to the default colour, losing any recolours chosen (as I expected) but in games with seasons any recolour chosen stays after the swap. This is a handy thing but I cannot see what is causing it.

Well, after a month of trying I have been unable to solve this.....any more ideas on what I can do to fix it?
