build a sim question

built a couple of sims in body shop then loaded them to my game, they both show up when you chose -create family-use existing sim. but my question is when building them bodyshop has you chose all the outfits they will wear and write a bio, name them and all that stuff but when you chose existing sim you have to reslect all the outfits and name etc. so do the preslected one you build just show up around town or something with all you selected while building them or is that stuff just selected in case you load it to the game site?
probably a dumb question or already asked but i have spent hrs looking on here if it has been already and could not find anything about it?

You don't actually get to pick all the outfits, Bodyshop only saves the sim with the one they are wearing, usually the everyday outfit. The sim won't walk around town until you create them and save the family and show up in the sim bin, they don't have character data until you do that.
