Why do my birds die so easily?

I don't know if this is normal, but my sim birds die really fast. I had one that only lived for five hours! Most last at least a few days, but it's still not much. I'm keeping the food dish full and making sure they get played with a little each day, but nothing changes. They still die. Am I doing something wrong? Any suggestions?

They die because Maxis borked the coding and didn't fix it in the patch. Twojeffs has fixed the problem. Remember, if the new (yet unreleased) Pets patch fixes it, you will probably want to remove the mod.

I can get in just fine. They must have been down for maintenance. I know they're doing some file shifting and server upgrades.

Touch wood, but mine are okay so far too. I don't even play with them much, just teach them to talk and then work them to near-death as my sims raise their charisma levels. XD

What I don't like is the need constant care (like the wormrats). If you have more than a few things going on, poof...dead bird...he's gone. It happened to me once before. Pets die too fast. I nearly missed a dog dying the other day because of other action in my game. (Mom ready to have a baby, kids coming in from school). I had to exit w/out saving and go back again to see it. :omg:

Seams to happenvwith me to. Once died after feeding him..I'm on bird number 10!! Thats how many died.. I dont get it!

Look up ^^^ It's a Maxis bug that has been fixed by Twojeffs.

My birds die in like 2 sims days sometimes three have to always feed them and clean the cage. Such pains in the butts. Now whenever my people want a bird cage they get it but i don't stock it with a bird lol. Almost reminds me of the Fish from the 1 version of the sims i had they died so fast.Even the wormrats die fast lol. I just stick with my dog or cat.

I was on the officail site the otherday and got a patch and now it seems my birds are needing alot less feeding so maybe its fixed havent had 1 die yet. Before i had to fill the dish like every 10 minutes or more.

Birds and Womrats do NOT need constant care. <_<

It takes at least a day for them to need more food, and at most 2 days before their cage needs cleaning. 0_o

BEFORE the patch, birds died all the time. You had to feed them literally non-stop to keep them alive. Twojeffs fixed it first, then , finally, Maxis got it's act together and fixed it in the 2nd patch.

I didn't DL any patch and I haven't had any problems with my birds.
But I have had trouble with my womrats, I fill the food dish and a few mins later it's empty again! costing me a fortune!

I've never had a problem with a bird, my seem to last just fine.

I've never had a bird die - but then again I'm prone to set them free after about a week or two as I'm basically done with them well before then. What I want to know is why can't I sell back a trained (or untrained) bird or sell it to someone else? Because I can't sell or exchange the bird I end up letting them go (just didn't have the heart to starve one to death).

Before the patch (and twojeffs mod) mine were dropping like flies. I guess it affected some peoples game more than others. *shrug*
