View Full Version : Holiday packs...are they worth it?

So I've been debating for a while whether I shuold get any of the Holiday Packs. I have read some stuff on them but they didn't really tell me that much. Are the
objects interactive? Do the packs have any huge bugs? Are there patches for these bugs?
Generally I want to know whether I should get any of the Holiday packs or not. I'd like your opinions. Just please back up your opinion, ie say more than just, "It sucks" or what not.

I don't think it's really worth it because are you really going to be using all of these holiday items though out the entire year prob. not I know I would not so it's just a waste of money for me

 Kidding. It depending on if you have money to spend. I advise you to focus on the expansion packs and if you have all those then consider. If you like decorations, walls and floors then go for it.

In my opinion, I wouldn't think twice about not purchasing a holiday pack. The first reason would be what flamebabe said, if they are making an expansion pack that deals with the four seasons, wouldn't they include the appropriate items for each time? Also, what possibly could be in the holiday pack that someone else hasn't made as custom content?

I have no intention of getting the holiday packs. I have FFS & GL and in retrospect - they were not really value for money. There is so much awesome content created by some highly talented people in the sims community - I think there is enough free quality cc out there. All you need is a search engine and/or this great site (incl. MtS2) - and you can find just about anything for your simmies.

I don't have it, but I would get it because of Santa and New Years Baby/Father Time. I don't think custom content can add it. I don't have Glamor or Family Fun because the objects aren't very appealing. I wanted to get Holiday last year, but never did because you had to get it off the internet and my Sims would only celebrate it once a year. But with Seasons coming out, my Sims will celebrate every winter and this year you can by the pack at stores.
So its mainly what you will do with it. If your going to do little with it, then don't get it. But if your going to do more with it, get it. Thats all I can say.

I got TS2 Holiday Edition '06, which has HHS in it, of course. So, to get the original game at cost and a stuff pack for free? Yeah, it's worth it. *nod*

I actually bought it this year. Last year I got the free stuff maxoid monkey posted on the exchange. Those combined with all the cc made for the holydays were more than enough, but I just had to have santa and the fireworks. :) I suppose they will be putting santa in the seasons expansion, as gwenn83 said, but it will still take some time. So maybe you want to wait a couple of months until seasons is released and you could decide then if you want to get it. (if it's still in the stores.)

I dont think they are. Just some new items. Don't even know why they made it. We could have just downloaded them for all I care.

Maxis wouldn't add anything from Happy Holiday Stuff into Seasons. That would be a waste of a pack. And people have been reviewing Seasons and nobody said anything about Santa or Christmas decorations. It just adds snow, which would be a great combo with Seasons. So don't get your hopes up for Santa in any EP, I doubt Maxis would waste a stuff pack like that. But I would guess that Maxis will combine all of the stuff packs into one giant pack (not enough to be an EP) in a couple of years, so you could wait until then. But this is a limited edition pack, and Maxis will probably have it out again next year (maybe with more things).
Basically, don't get your hopes up that it will be released in an EP.

It's OK if you can find it on sale. But I personally don't think it's worth $20.
