I wasn't sure where to post this technical question, but since it has to do with screen captures and posting pictures:

My monitor resolution is 1440x990. A square is square only at this setting.

Sims does not offer this option. In game, a square is a square at 1152x864.

When I use PrtScn for captures, the photos are never properly proportioned.

Solutions? Thanks all!

so wait...
i want to start a story and in my story what size would the pics have to be?? is there a maximum to how big the pictures are?? do they have to be a certain size?? if so, what size do they have to be (in pixels or mm, please)...??

DiamonteGirl... Do you have an account at Photobucket or ImageShack? That would be the first step. When you get an account, try uploading a picture into that account. Then all you need to do is put before the link and after the link and viola.

i hope someone helps me. when i go directly into neighborhood storytelling i can see the pictures fine. when i use the browse button on photobucket in the same folder, the images don't show. there is just a little icon and text. am i missing something?

You could try changing the style to Thumbnails in the top corner of the window :)

are you using the ingame camera if so use the prtsc (print screen) button instead it copys what you see on screen to the size of your computer screen after youve prtsc want you want minimize sims and paste it into photoshop or gimp or paint what ever you use

Does photobucket resize images to that size when you upload them? I got the pictures from the neighbourhood pictures file for Riverblossom Hills.

You can change the size of the pic you are taking. Choose big, it will be better.

you can get a program which you can take multiple pictures with print screen one sec ill find a link
edit: i cant find a link but you should be able to google print screen sowtware and find it but i dont have the time to do it myself
and if you cant find it all you have to do is press the start button to minimize sims paste the picture then go back into sims its a bit more work but the results are very much worth it

:google: FRAPS. It is a free software that allows you to press a hotkey (your customize it to whatever key you want. I use the combonation of Alt 1) and once you press that button it will save the snapshot to a folder for you.) You don't have to minimize your game either to copy and paste it into Paint, Gimp etc. The pictures look like a printscreen. :)

Hey guy, is pressing tab and moving around the only way to get closer pictures or is there anyway button or cheat? Like it's hard to get a picture of a kitty up close, so how do you do that?

You can post all kinds of Sims pictures here. Just be sure to post them in the correct thread (i.e. male Sims go in the "Male Sims" thread, Sims houses go in the "Houses and Landscaping" thread, etc etc).

And, why do i need have 5 messages to start posting images?
It's a measure against spammers or members who sign up for the site just to spam junk all over.

What's this means?
"PNG files as inline images are not allowed in this forum!"
A .png is a type of picture file (like .bmp or .jpeg images). We don't allow the .png image file type on our site because they are usually gigantic and can lag down people's speed in loading pages on our forum.

I'm having trouble actually getting the images out of the EA games folder. In game, I took a lot of pictures (not snapshots my sims took, just reguler pictures) and a few of them showed up in the story telling folder, but most didn't...so, my question is, where are the rest?!

I am still searching through the forums to see if there's any answer already up for this. Thank you.

Edit: Of course, the answer to that question was in the tutorial all along...:iws: Sorry for the post then, I figured it out.

Okay, this is not working...my photo's are too huge. I use FRAPS and then just crop and edit them...what size do i need to resize them to in Photoshop - because Medium seems too small, and Large is HUGE like this:
