After reading this post (http://www.sims2community.com/showthread.php?t=17922) about an internet love challenge by Susi2015 I decided to take the challenge and had a lot of fun doing it. I was able to get Elliott to a 100/100 relationship with his love within two sim weeks by using chatting and email. During the course of the challenge I started taking photos and decided to write a story about Elliott’s struggle to find true love. I completed the challenge in keeping with the rules and then added to the story by taking additional photos after completing it.

Elliott Henry grew up in a middle class household with two attentive parents and a darling little sister. The Henry family enjoyed a warm and loving atmosphere in their two-story home nestled against the hills on the outskirts of the Wickering Place. Elliott was always given the best his parents could afford; private school, piano lessons and a quality university education.

After graduating with honors from SimState University Elliott entered the business career with one goal in mind; to quickly build up a good-sized nest egg, get married and begin a family of his very own. Living as frugally as possible Elliott moved in to a tiny apartment smack dab in the middle of Wickering Place town center.

Elliott quickly became friends with his neighbors and maintained a busy social life. One night while out on the town with some buddies Elliott spied a beautiful redhead with sexy bedroom eyes, just his type of girl, Elliott was immediately smitten! His heart pounding loudly in his chest he carefully approached this exquisite beauty and was wholly surprised to find her quite receptive to his advances! They introduced themselves, she was Melanie..."Melanie"...he suddenly thought that was the most exotic and tempting name in the world!

Elliott and Melanie began dating, they were happy; delirious in love they enjoyed each other’s company and spent every free moment they could together.

Elliott was certain that Melanie was his true love and soon decided that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. There was no doubt in his mind that Melanie felt the same way about him!

Chapter 1 - Melanie meets Darren

When you love someone,
all your saved-up wishes start coming out.

One lazy Sunday afternoon I decided to have Melanie and my best bud Darren over for lunch. Darren and I were roommates at SimSate University, he and I were very close. I wanted to introduce him to Melanie, she was going to be part of my life forever and I wanted to make sure my friends would get along with her. To say that Darren is a tad shy would be an understatement he was painfully shy! I was really hoping that he would be willing to talk with Melanie and get to know her a bit; I wanted my best friend and my best girl to become friends. What fun we would have, the three of us, going to games, skiing, mountain climbing, I was really looking forward to it!

Darren had already arrived when Melanie showed up. Melanie was frequently late, it was a bit of an irritant to me but I just knew that if I was patient enough with her in the future I could make her understand that being on time is the respectable and polite thing to do. When Melanie finally arrived I introduced the two of them. Melanie was her usual animated self; Darren of course immediately clammed up but I was confident that Melanie’s natural friendliness and charm would make him open up.

I left Darren in Melanie’s capable hands while I went to make my specialty, lunchmeat sandwiches.

Let me tell you, you have never had a sandwich until you’ve tasted my lunchmeat sandwiches! My father taught me to make these sandwiches, my mom was never too impressed with them, she claimed it was something about the combination of pickles, peanut butter and lunchmeat that turned her stomach.

I was coming back from my kitchen (or cubby as some might call it, remember me telling you that I’m living in a very small apartment?). Anyways, I digress. As I was saying, I was coming back with the sandwiches, the best ones ever, when I noticed that Darren and Melanie were getting along really well, she was talking in her usual cute way and seemed to be bringing him out of his shell.

We had a great lunch, the three of us. Melanie claimed she wasn’t very hungry after only taking two bites of her sandwich, I offered to save it for her so she could enjoy it later. She just looked at me with the most peculiar expression; I swear it’s so difficult sometimes to understand what women are thinking. We talked about many things, from our childhoods to our university days. Let me tell you, what a relief it was to know that these two people who are so important to me were getting along just fine!

After lunch I was cleaning up in the kitchen when I heard Melanie say something that sounded like, “you’re place or mine?”, that couldn’t be right, she must have said, “your case of wine”, although that seemed a bit strange since Darren isn’t much of a drinker, except for the occasional run in with a juice keg.

Anyways, as I was saying, I continued to wash dishes and couldn’t catch the rest of their conversation over the noise of the running water. I made mental note to ask Darren about this case of wine they were talking about, I however, can drink with the best of them and wanted to find out if he was holding out on me!

After I finished with the dishes Melanie announced that she had to run off for a very important appointment. I protested to no avail. Ah well, I’d see more of her tomorrow and Darren wasn’t leaving yet.

Melanie then turned to Darren and asked if she could offer him a ride home. I was a bit disappointed as I wanted to hang out longer with Darren but hey, the guy doesn’t have a car so it was a good opportunity for him not to have to take the city bus. After looking at his feet for a long moment he reluctantly accepted her kind offer. I thought that was a bit odd, after all, they seemed to be getting along, why was he so shy all of a sudden?

Being the sweetheart Melanie was, she assured him that he wasn’t putting her out and that his house was on her way home and she wouldn’t mind the company. Turning to me, she gave me a quick kiss and they headed out the door.

Chapter 2 – The Traitor

Authors Note: As you’re reading this story for the next several chapters (and the last one too) pay close attention to the discrepancies between Elliott’s words and what the photos show. I don’t want to give anything away but it’s important that you understand that what Elliott perceives is not always what is really going on.

As I looked out that window I couldn’t believe my eyes!!!!

That traitor Darren! That no good, low down son of a gun was making moves on my girl!!! How dare he try to steal my girlfriend!!! He knew how I felt about her, how much in love we were!!!

I wasted no time in running outside to confront him. Melanie immediately stepped back away from him with a surprised, innocent look on her face. The poor thing, I’m sure Darren’s unasked for advances were very distressing to her as well! Darren whipped his head around and saw me storming towards him with a look of horror on his face and immediately started attempting to tell me that it wasn’t what it looked like…whatever!

I know that despicable, low down jerk was trying to move in on my girl and no amount of denying from him was going to convince me otherwise.

There was no tactic he could take that would make me listen to Darren’s flimsy excuses. I was livid with rage, out of control! As if by it’s own will my right arm pulled itself back only to jerk forward again and make contact with Darren’s right eye.

There he was, motionless in front of me with a stunned look on his face. He reached up to touch the now swollen, bruised eye. In a low, quiet voice Darren slowly stated, “you will never understand what you just did.” That was it, from that moment on our friendship was over, finished, ruined, done period.

I turned to take Melanie in my arms as Darren took his leave from my property and my life.

Holding the frightened and crying Melanie I attempted to reassure her that I would never let such a horrible incident happen again. I swiftly made a vow to be more attentive to the type of people I introduced to my sweet Melanie. As I whispered soothing words into her ear she reached her arms around me and pressed her body into mine. She was shaking in my arms; it saddened me to know that she must have been so upset.

You know this is my first story and it's interesting how it's kind of taking on a life of it's own, lol. I started with a concept but didn't realize exactly where I was going with it until I got to the second chapter.

Chapter 3 – All is well again

I wanted to do something nice for Melanie to cheer her up. I asked her if she wanted to go to Bob’s Diner for dinner. She looked at me with those big teary blue eyes, and with lush pouting lips said, “how about we go to Landoste, they serve the most wonderful food”, with a flutter of her lashes.

What can I say, I was a man in love, if my poor tortured Melanie wanted to go to the most expensive restaurant in Wickering Place who was I to say no, of course we would go! Melanie cheered right up and ran inside to powder her nose. As I stood waiting in the living room I began to wonder how much of a dent this outing was going to put in my nest egg.

Melanie and I had a fabulous dinner, my sweetheart ordered the house specialty, lobster thermadore. I decided I wasn’t very hungry and ordered macaroni and cheese. What a wonderful end to a horrible evening!

The next day I got to thinking….Melanie and I were becoming closer and closer, it was time to take her home to meet my family. I called up mom to extract an invitation for dinner on Saturday night. Mom was very excited to learn I was bringing a date! I asked her how dad was doing after retiring from his career as mad scientist. She said he was enjoying his time by collecting antique furniture and expensive artwork.

When I got to Melanie’s house to pick her up for dinner on Saturday I was taken aback by the dress she had chosen. I subtly commented on the fact that we were going to dinner at my parent’s who tend to be a bit reserved. She said, “Wonderful I’m glad I picked my best dress”. She didn’t take the hint, and I didn’t want to hurt her feelings, after all I didn’t want her to think I was questioning her sense of style. Not to mention the fact that I thought she was absolutely gorgeous in that dress!

Chapter 4 – Making an Impression

As we pulled up to my parent’s house I saw them standing on the front porch to greet us. As soon as my car lurched to a stop I swiftly exited the driver’s seat and ran around to open Melanie’s door for her. Walking up the walkway I looked up and was a bit concerned to see my parent’s shocked faces!

As they quickly composed themselves, I introduced them to the charming Melanie and my mom and dad graciously received her into their home. I was so relieved Melanie had her back to the window where my sister was snickering at us for some reason; I realized I would have to talk with that little twerp later.

While mom was finishing dinner I showed Melanie around the house. She was quite impressed with dad’s collection of rare artwork! Melanie was unrelenting in exclaiming loudly that each painting must have cost more than the last one.

Mom’s cooking was unsurpassed in Wickering Place and I was really looking forward to a good home cooked meal, the aromas coming from the kitchen were making my mouth water profusely. We had a great conversation over and excellent dinner! I noticed Melanie was having a difficult time ungluing her eyes from the expensive artwork, I thought to myself how wonderful it was for her to take an interest in my father’s hobby.

My little sister was out of control, she kept asking Melanie strange questions like what she did for a living, how long had she known me, and worst of all how much money she made! One of my sister’s questions caught my attention while I was talking to Dad about our yearly fishing trip. I vaguely heard my sister asking Melanie if she liked kids. My head whipped around like a bobble doll as I heard Melanie’s reply, “Kids, blech, they stink and slobber, I’m so not into them!” Wow! One of my dreams, the reason I’d been saving my extra simoleons is to get married and start a family. I wanted children of my own. Melanie and I clearly needed to have a conversation about that!

During the entire dinner Mom and Dad kept sharing long, meaningful glances at each other with worried looks on their faces, I wondered briefly what was bothering them. At any rate, despite a few odd instances I thought the evening was a huge success! As we were leaving my mom hugged me tightly and whispered, “honey we need to talk, I’ll call you later.”

Later that evening after delivering Melanie to her place I received the promised phone call from my mom. I was so excited to find out what they thought of Melanie that I blurted right out, “what do you think, should I ask her to marry me?” There was a long uncomfortable pause, I thought I’d lost the connection and pulled the phone away from my ear to inspect it when I heard mom reply, “Well honey, that’s what I wanted to talk to you about. Are you sure she is the girl for you? You deserve the best; your dad and I want you to be happy and are concerned that maybe you’re not going to happy with Melanie given your long term plans”. Slamming the phone against my ear I indignantly replied, “Mom, you know I love you and Dad but I also love Melanie and I intend to make her my wife, you and Dad will have to accept the my judgment.” She sounded slightly sad as she said, “Son, I trust that you will make the right decision, your father and I will support you and be here for you when you need us.”

I hung up the phone feeling slightly depressed and rather anxious. It was vital to me that my parents liked and accepted the woman with whom I was to spend the rest of my life with. The next few days were a difficult time for me.

After talking to Melanie about the children issue (she said that as long as she had enough simoleons to allow for a nanny she thought she’d be able to handle it) I was feeling much better.

A few weeks later I was joyfully surprised to receive a call from my cousin Corey, who invited Melanie and I to spend the day horseback riding with him and his wife, Mia. What a fantastic idea! I’ve always been an outdoors type of person and I knew Melanie fancied horses.

When she showed up at my house, I could totally tell that Melanie was very eager to go on the outing with me! I was so full of pride upon seeing her dressed appropriately!

We congregated with Corey and Mia at the base of Mt. Sunflower where they were waiting with their horses. It was unfortunate that Corey and Mia had to wait for us. We were a smidgen (really, only 45 minutes) late because as I mentioned previously Melanie had difficulty being on time, but like I also said we were working on it.

It was invigorating being outdoors in the crisp, fresh mountain air. Melanie and Julie got along famously and I was pleased to see that Corey appeared to approve of her as well.

There was one small incident, when we stopped to let the horses have a drink and my foot got caught on dismount I landed with a loud “thud” on my back, I was shocked to hear my love laughing as it turns out, she explained she was laughing at the frogs frolicking in the pond.

A few days later, as I was getting home from work the phone was ringing persistently. I rushed to answer it only to find my cousin Corey on the other end of the line. Corey wasted no time in blurting out, “Elliott I just have to tell you there were no frogs in that pond, she was laughing at YOU. I don’t mean to hurt your feelings man but Mia and I are wondering if Melanie is the appropriate girl for you”. My first reaction was to defend my choices and Melanie, but then my thoughts went immediately to the conversation my mother had recently engaged me in, she had said almost those exact words! I quietly thanked Corey for his call and their concern before telling him to pass along a “hello” to Mia for me.

Nerina - I totally know what you're talking about with your sister. The reason I am really getting into this story is that I've been in Elliott's position before. Everyone kept looking at him and me strangly, his behavior was bad, people were telling me that it wasn't right and still it didn't matter. I left him when I had finally had enough, hopefully Elliott will do the same ;)

Chapter 5 – There is life beyond Melanie

I thought it was time to share some other parts of my life beyond my romance with Melanie.

Every morning before work I would wake up and go jogging. Jogging was a stress reliever for me. The feeling of the morning wind blowing my hair back, my feet lightly landing on the sidewalk, the sweat dripping from my brow, it all was exhilarating. Jogging was the way I mentally prepared myself for each day looming ahead of me.

There was nothing like a good, challenging game of pool down at the local hole-in-wall tavern with the guys. Get a few drinks in me and I’m good to go all night! I wouldn’t call myself a professional but I’ve been known to hustle a game or two in my time!

A quieter pastime of mine was visiting the Wickering Place library. I had been going to that library since I was just a young sim. There is something so familiar and comforting about the library, the dusty old book with worn spines that have had hundreds of hands and eyes on them before mine, the classic volumes that were older than me….it always made me feel like I was enveloped by something timeless and priceless. The library was wear I went when I needed to focus and center myself.

My friend Larry and I used to play music together, now we both knew we weren’t ready for primetime but hey, it’s all about the fun and creativity. What a good time we used to have jamming out a Jimmy Hendrix tune!

I worked in a Myshuno marketing firm. My desk had a great view of….well the alley really but that was ok with me. I was good at my job, on time, conscientious and always strived to do my best. Marketing Myshuno’s was not exactly the job I wanted to do for the rest of my life but it was a great stepping-stone and was helping in slowly building up that nest egg I was saving for my future family.

One of my favorite things to do was take my yearly fishing trip with Dad. We went to a little secluded lake about 3 hours South of Wickering Place. There was no noise from traffic, factories making smog, no city disturbances, just my dad, me and the birds and fish. I will always remember the last trip we took. Dad caught 7 fish to my 1! We had an excellent dinner of fresh fish and spent the night in our tent with our heads out in the cool night breeze and talked about the constellations, my childhood and life in general.

I’ve always had a weakness for video games and if I don’t say so myself, I’m pretty good at them! My friends used to draw straws to determine who would have to play against me as they always lost. Seriously, I don’t think I was all that superior but as time went on it became a joke and we had a lot of fun with it!

Every now and then on a free weekend afternoon I would swing by and pick up my little sister to take her to the movie theater in town. I’m pretty sure she and I enjoyed the snacks and the company more than the movie but that was ok, it was a fantastic ritual to have!

Chapter 6 – Reflections

Melanie and I had been dating for over a year. It was time to take our relationship to the next level. I wanted to start my family, I was ready, and the longing in my heart was growing stronger as each day passed. Things were going well for me. I had an excellent job and had just received a promotion to department lead, which came with a hefty salary increase. I hadn’t been spending much time with my friends lately, for some reason when I started to include Melanie on our outings they frequently came up with excuses about other obligations. My parents stopped trying to convince that Melanie was wrong for me, except for the time my sister tried to set me up with her best friend’s older sister I felt like my family was coming around.

As I was saying, it was time to take our relationship to the next level, time to propose marriage. I thought back over the last year 15 months and all the good times we had together.

There was the time we went shopping and Melanie let me help her pick out an outfit at a boutique downtown, too bad she forgot her purse that day.

And the time she was so thoughtful to surprise me when I got home from working late one night with a surprise party. What a night that was, I’m still not sure why Alan was the only guest.

One time I decided to try out a new look and dropped by Melanie’s place to ask what she thought of it. Never mind, it’s not important that I talk about that…

One day we went shopping for a new car and while I was looking at the quality used cars Melanie was making a deal for me with the sales manager on a new sports car. I’m hoping to re-finance soon to lower the exceedingly high payments.

I loved having Melanie over to spend the night, she frequently did so on Saturday nights. She used to nag me about getting a double bed, but we worked it out with me sleeping on the floor. I always woke up with a back ache but Melanie gave wonderful massages!

Lazy Sunday mornings after Melanie had spent the night were so enjoyable. Most Sunday mornings I woke up, got the newspaper and read it from front to back, always in order. The mornings Melanie had spent the night were a little different….she would insist that she read the newspaper first, said she got a headache if she didn’t, the problem was that she only wanted to read the funny pages and everything got out of order, it was slightly disturbing to me but all in all what’s an out of order newspaper compared to the happiness of my love? Another tradition we had on Sunday mornings was for me to bring her coffee, she explained that she constantly managed to burn herself when she poured her own coffee, I would have hated to see her in pain!

Oh, and I can’t forget when she thoughtfully re-decorated my apartment for me, what a kind gesture! Ok, so it’s not quite my style, but it’s the thought that counts. She was a little upset when I asked what she had done with my possessions; luckily they were out behind the apartment building by the dumpster. Although she couldn’t stay to help me move my belongings back in, I was relieved to hear her say, “do whatever you want” before she left.

It was important to Melanie that she stay fit so we liked to visit the local gym together. This was the type of thing I imagined doing with my future wife, I immensely enjoyed participating in these every day things with Melanie, it made me feel like she was really including me in her life and that was important to me.

Thank you all for the kind words and the love sentiments! It might be a couple days until the next update, I've been shooting them off pretty rapidly for the last week or so but this week I to spend some time making a couple of contest entries. Below are responses to your comments.

Auroraspirit - You have an interesting take on Melanie, You might be right in your opinion of her. I'm not sure that's what I had in mind for her but maybe I'm not capable of making a truely evil character. It's not that I pictured her stabbing him in his sleep or anything, she might be the perfect girl for someone else, just not right for Elliott. Do you really think Elliott will be able to handle parenting with Melanie?

Nerina - You're right, you have not seen anything about the internet yet. The question that remains is what does he go through to get there?

AnyPika - I'm anxious for him to dump her and move on as well but the story has a life of it's own and each part has it's place. We'll just have to be patient, and continue hoping that he sees the light soon.

Chapter 7: Romantic Preparations

As I sat in front of my computer I was more confused than ever. I wanted to find the most special, perfect way to propose. It must be a day she would never forget! Here’s what I found:

Take her to a romantic dinner.
Boring!

Propose under water.
What?

Travel to Paris and propose under the Eiffel Tower.
Nice idea but….wow, that sure would take a lot of simoleons!

Declare your intentions at a sporting event.
Somehow I didn’t thins she was quite that type of girl….

I spent several hours searching and then the idea hit me like a ton of bricks in the head!

I changed my clothes and jumped into my new sport scar and zoomed off down the road, I had to see a man about a plane and buy a ring!

When I got to Central Airlines I talked with a helpful guy named Jake. He understood what I was asking for and took all my information. I wrote him a hefty check and then I was off on my mission to find the perfect ring.

It was a long drive to the jewelry store but I made it there before they closed. Standing in front of the engagement ring display I was totally lost. I had no idea what to look for, what would Melanie like? I knew that she cared about my plans for the future and why I was saving money so she wouldn’t want a huge ring that would dip deep into my nest egg. I just didn’t know what to do; I’d never bought an engagement ring before!

The salesman must have noticed me looking confused and offered to help. He gave me a crash course in engagement rings and after asking how much I was planning on spending suggested a ¼ carat princess cut solitaire set in a gold band. It was beautiful, perfect! I knew Melanie was going to love it! My palms felt clammy and I was a little light headed as I paid for ring and slipped it into my pocket. All the way home I kept touching it, this symbol of the depth of my love, just to make sure it was still there….wow, it was really happening, I was going to ask Melanie to marry me!

A few days later I invited Melanie with me to the lake where my dad and I fish. I had a romantic picnic planned with the surprise proposal to follow. She readily accepted my invitation. The entire drive to the lake I couldn’t think of anything else, I was so excited! When we got to the lake I started setting up our picnic. This didn’t go as well as planned, Melanie had an aversion to bugs and the entire time I was getting lunch for us she was muttering to herself and stamping her feet.

I got her calmed down and we had a lovely picnic, we talked about everything from work to family to travel.

As lunch was ending I glanced at my watch and knew it was time. “Melanie”, I said, “would you like to take a short hike up the hill for a while, there is a great view!”. Her response was to look at me askance and say, “What?”. I explained again that I wanted to take a walk (decided not to use the word “hike” again) up the hill. She reluctantly agreed.

As we started the ascent I began to get extremely nervous, my mouth was dry, I was sweating profusely and I felt like my heart was beating so fast it was going to jump out of my chest! We got to the top of the hill in one piece, thank goodness! I brushed some dirt and leaves from a log and suggested we have a seat. As we settled in I reached over I pulled her close to my side, put my face against her hair and breathed deeply of her strawberry scented hair. I loved her so much; she was a part of me, every part of me. Glancing at my watch again I knew it was time…

I heard it before I saw it, a low rumbling from far off, as it got closer I said, “Melanie, what’s that?” We both looked up to see the plane begin writing my message of love in the sky. “Oh Elliott”, she gasped. My throat felt as if it was full of cotton and not a sound would come out but it didn’t matter because the airplane was writing my words for me.

Reaching down I slowly pulled the black box from my pocket. As I lifted it I looked up into her eyes, her beautiful, deep green eyes and saw them light up. Melanie slipped the ring on her hand. It was a perfect fit, just as we were a perfect fit for each other! My heart was beating double-time, my stomach was lurching like rubber raft on rapids, I was sure I was going to pass out. “Elliott”, she said, “it’s so, so, um, petite.” “Petite”, I knew she was going to love it, I wasn’t sure why she chose that word in particular, but it was obvious that she loved it and she loved me too!

Chapter 9 – Getting ready for Nuptials

Melanie and I had planned a short engagement, just three months. One of the first things on our task list for the wedding was to choose my suit. Melanie suggested a little boutique in downtown Wickering Place. I was a slightly nervous; I usually go into a store, find what I need and within minutes am out the door again. I knew this was going to be a different experience and I was right….

The first suit I tried on was a fine gray one that I thought looked quite dashing on me. Melanie did not feel the same way. So on to the next.

After trying on a few more suits with no agreement between us a dark blue pinstripe was next on the line up. This was by far my favorite! It flattered me, was not too pretentious and after I took a quick look at the price tag I knew it was affordable, this was definitely the suit for me! Well, that’s what I though until I took a look at Melanie’s face. Clearly she was not impressed. Oh, well, it was more important that we compromise and agree on all the decisions for our wedding.

I continued trying on several more to no avail I was getting tired of shopping and Melanie was getting frustrated with me. I hated to see her like that, it was so important to me that we agree and come to some sort of meeting place. If not, how in the world would be have a happy healthy marriage? Melanie turned to the clothing rack and pulled out a pink tux! Pink! I thought to myself, “oh, she really didn’t want me to try that on did she?” She most certainly did! I hated it, she loved it. In the end I bought it. After all, the wedding was really for the bride, it was her day to shine and if she wanted me in a pink tux, she would have me in a pink tux!

After the shopping trip for my tux I pretty much let Melanie plan the wedding. I offered input when she asked but soon realized that it wasn’t clear to me why she was asking for my input, as she would invariably choose the opposite of what I suggested. I didn’t mind, the wedding was just a formality to the beginning of our lives together and that was the most important thing, that I was going to spend the rest of my life with the woman I loved!

A few days before the wedding my parent’s hosted a rehearsal dinner party at the Grand Hotel in Wickering Place. It was lovely! Both of our families were there along with the entire bridal party.

At one point during dinner I ooked to up to find Melanie talking with my sister, she was so beautiful, so exquisite and elegant! I felt my eyes tear up as I gazed at this woman who was to be my wife in a couple of days. Swallowing the lump in my throat I distracted myself with the conversation flowing around me.

I really liked Melanie’s father. He was an eloquent, gentle man. I wasn’t sure what exactly to make of Melanie’s mom. She seemed to complain a lot and kept asking members of my family what they did for a living and even how much money they made, including me! After the toast I spent some time chatting a little more with Melanie’s mom and dad. During a puase in our talk I looked around the room to see where my bride-to-be was and didn’t see her. I excused myself from the conversation and went to find her.

My mind was racing a million miles a minute…how was I going to get my now more than tipsy girlfriend out of the hotel without alerting our guests?

I extended our apologies for leaving early and appreciation for the wonderful evening and took my leave to take my drunken fiancé to her house to tuck her in bed. The wedding was to be in two days and I knew she was going to have one heck of a hangover so I stayed at her place that night to take care of her.

It was our wedding day, I stood there in front of the congregation with the officiate behind me and the wedding party to either side of me. I knew the other people were there but to me they were just part of the landscaping my eyes were drilling holes on the spot where my bride would walk down the aisle and into my life forever. Time stood still, I could neither see nor hear anything, only one thing was going to shatter my reverie, the sight of Melanie coming toward me.

As soon as the officiate uttered the words ”If there is anyone here who has an objection as to why these two shall not be joined as man and wife please state your objections at this time” I heard a small sound from the back of the congregation. Looking up I saw Darren standing there, “how dare he crash our wedding, the snake,” I thought to myself. Darren raised his hand and said in halting, unsure voice, “I object.” He didn’t stop his stupidness there, but continued on, “Elliott, please don’t do this, she doesn’t deserve you, and you need someone in your life that will be faithful to you!” I heard murmuring coming from the guests and saw Melanie’s parent’s start to get up from their seats. Melanie gasped and swayed weakly against me and appeared she was going to faint. I myself felt my stomach heaving, as if in an attempt to leave my body. Turning to my cousin Corey, my best man I said through my teeth, “will you please get him out of here?”

Before Corey could move another man stood up, he looked vaguely familiar, I think Melanie had invited him over to my place at one point. Relief shot through me, this man was going to remove Darren for me. Imagine my shock when instead of assisting Darren from the premises he said in a loud, obnoxious voice, “Melanie, don’t get hitched to this guy, I can give you everything and more! Why would you want to marry this dweeb? He’s not man enough for you!”

I was shocked!! Melanie looked liked a frightened rabbit with no where to go, she kept squeaking as if she was trying to say something. People were standing up from their seats, heads swiveling back and forth as their gaze kept switching from my bride and me to the two men.

It wasn’t over! The elation I felt just a few moments earlier was now anguish, like a hot knife through my heart as a third man stood up and said to the second, “you, what do you mean ‘you can give her everything’? She is in love with me and I with her!” Turning to look at Melanie he said, “Melanie, please don’t marry this man, I love you with all my heart and will make a wonderful husband to you!”

My stomach had now made its exit from my body; in its place was a massive pit of acid ready to deliver itself onto my shoes at any moment. I felt as if I was surely going to be sick right there in the middle of the worst moment of my life. My wedding was ruined; my bride was obviously not the person I thought she was. I turned to her to ask what in the world was going on when I heard a howling from behind me, shifting my body back around I looked down the aisle to see a man drop to his knees and say with a haunted voice, “Melanie, I believed you when you said you were just marrying Elliott for his money and then we could live in Mexico together but now I see you have been with other men and have been lying to me, did you ever intend on going away with me?” This man was clearly in agony and so pathetic that I almost felt sorry for him….that feeling was quickly substituted with the urge to replace his nose with my fist!

I did the only thing I could think of, I threw my head back and screamed! This was some sort of bad dream; it had to be this could not be happening in real life! But it was real and I could no longer deny the proof that was glaringly in front of me, Melanie was cheating on me! And not just with one man, but three or more, were there others as well? She didn’t love me as I had thought, as I had loved her! The agony I felt at the notion was overwhelming! I screamed the scream of a man who has just lost his soul with no possible way of returning it to his body.

All pandemonium broke loose, through my blurry vision I saw wedding guests yelling at each other. I think I even saw my sister landing a punch or two on pathetic guy! My mother was confronting Melanie who was trying to make a hasty escape. The wedding party was preparing themselves to defend me. Melanie’s parents were shamefacedly looking around for some way to remove themselves from the chaos without being noticed.

I'm so glad this chapter was a hit, I know it was a long time in leading up to it but I wanted to make sure I did enough chacter and storyline building before going on to the next stage in Elliott's life.

I have to share something funny....

When I was getting all the guests transported to the lot and changed for the wedding Darren kept walking by, he must have done it 4 or 5 times, lol. Sometimes he would stop in front of the lot and make the "angry" pose and sometimes he would wave. Just as I was getting ready to take the shot of the guy with the do-rag on he appeared again and this time he walked into the wedding area, I suppose because that's were everyone was, and waved. I thought it was hilarious that he showed up to object at the perfect time and obviously wanted to be part of the chapter. He was the only sim on the lot that I wasn't controlling, lol.

Chapter 12 – Grief is a process

My head was hurting, it felt like something was using an anvil in an attempt to separate my brain from its resting place! After taking a deep breath I realized I could hear my parents quietly talking. My mom’s voice registered first, “he just moved, is he coming to?” Then my dad’s voice, “Doctor, is he regaining conscious?” Doctor?? I’ve always been healthy as a horse, why were they talking about a doctor? A strange voice came through the painful fog between my ears, “Elliott, can you hear me?” “mmmuh”, I mumbled, the words weren’t coming out. My mouth felt like it had old, dry cobwebs in it. I tried again, “uh hu” ok, that was getting a little better. Strange Voice again, “Elliott, can you open your eyes? Hm, now that was a good question. My eyes, let me think about that for a moment….it can’t be that hard to open one’s eyes, after all we blink hundreds of times per day don’t we? Why were mine glued shut? Oh, let’s try that again, left eye open, it was almost as if I had to actually tell my body to respond. There we go, I felt the glue giving way and my eyelid start to move. I managed to get both eyes open ever so slightly.

And immediately slammed them shut again. Who the heck was that! “Wwwhere ammm ah” I asked, very proud of myself for actually getting words out (ok, they weren’t quite right but I was hoping they would be understood)! “Elliott, you’re at Wickering Place General,” strange voice said. WHAT! In the hospital, why was I in the hospital? And why did I feel so weird, my body slow to respond, my head beginning to pound as if someone were taking a hammer to that anvil! Ok, so that strange voice must belong to a doctor. Good, maybe he could get me some water! “Cccannn I haaavvvee ssomme wwwaattteerr,” I stuttered. Dr. Strange Voice said, “Yes, I’ll ring for the nurse”. I heard my parent’s again, talking softly to each other in relieved voices, I couldn’t quite make out what they were saying but it was something like, “3 weeks, it was so scary!” Dr. Strange Voice said, “Elliott, I’m Dr. Larret, can you tell me how many fingers I’m holding up?” Didn’t the evil doctor see I was in pain and my eyes were not cooperating with me? Or was he just interested torturing me? Having been taught good manners by my parents I obeyed the doctor and opened my eyes far enough to see the hand he was holding in front of my face. “Three” I said. “Very good,” said Dr. Stran…err…Larret. “And can you tell me what year it is,” he asked. What was this the great inquisition? “2006,” I stated with a sigh, maybe he’s a bit daft and really didn’t know. “Excellent,” he said. Mr. and Mrs. Henry it appears that Elliott will be fine. He then turned to me and said, “welcome back Elliott”.

A nurse came in to give me some more than welcome water. My parents came over to the bed I was lying in and told me how glad they were to see me awake. I asked if I had been in an accident, they told me no, but I had fallen down. I talked with them for a bit, asking where my sister was and why I was there, when I asked the last question they looked cautiously at the doctor who shook his head, what were they hiding from me? By now I was starting to feel a little better, the pain in my head had subsided a bit and my eyes and voice appeared to be fully functional. I didn’t need to be in bed; I wasn’t one to just lie around. I threw back the covers and slowly got out of bed.

Ok, maybe not such a good idea! My legs were shaky and the room was spinning! Sitting back down on the bed quickly centered the spinning room and myself. I was determined to try it again. I attempted to stand again, ah-ha! This time it worked, I was quite pleased with myself and started to ask my mom where my clothes were. All of a sudden it hit me….I had to get to my wedding! I was going to be late! Did I miss it completely? I turned asked my parents what day it was and if I missed the wedding, panic was starting to rise inside me, poor Melanie, what must she be thinking. Hm, where was Melanie anyways? Something inside my brain snapped right then. Like a tidal wave the memories came rushing back….the horrible pink tux, the objections, the declarations of love from multiple men….oh my gosh she cheated on me! Raw searing pain hit my stomach and erupted like a volcano through my body and found it’s way out by route of my eyes. Hot tears landed on my cheeks as I realized what had happened!

As I cried like a wounded child I began to think to myself, maybe it wasn’t true! Maybe they were lying! Could it be some sort of twisted joke or set up? Was someone out to get Melanie and found the worst way to hurt her, on her wedding day? I thought back over the last two years or so. Had I been given any clues that would tell me she was cheating on me. I realized I had to say the answer to that question was yes, an emphatic YES! That no good two timing $%#^&!! Thank god I had learned of this before we actually finished the ceremony! I was angry! Very angry!

She had taken nearly two years of my life, wound me around her finger and wrapped me in her web of deceit. As if that wasn’t enough, was prepared to marry me and continue her torrid affairs! If pathetic guy was to be believed (and why would he lie?) she was just marrying me for my money! Little did she know the joke would have been on her, because of her influence I didn’t have much of my nest egg left, certainly not enough for a gold-digging harlot! In rapid succession the memories and thoughts ran through my head like burglars trying to escape the authorities. These were quickly followed by the realization that my dreams of a wife and a happy family had been dashed off a proverbial cliff onto sharp rocks below. Dead, gone, kaput! I leaned against the wall and slid down.

I was sitting in my hospital room minding my own business, wallowing in self-pity and pain when a nurse came in. I suppose she was nice…I think they thought that she would be able to get me off the floor. I wasn’t moving for anybody! I was going to spend the rest of my life there. What reason did I have to move? No wife, no family, nothing. Ok, I suppose that’s a little dramatic but seriously, I didn’t want to do anything but sit there and let the world go by.

Apparently she gave up because I heard the nurse talking to the doctor, saying something about a hopeless case. Was she talking about me? Probably, I was hopeless. No hope for the future, no hope for the present, no hope at all.

The doctor prescribed a sedative and then a battery of tests. First they plopped me in a wheel chair and sent me with an orderly to get an MRI.

After enduring the thrilling MRI machine they sent me to get an ultrasound. What the heck were they expecting to find with an ultrasound? At some point during the never-ending ultrasound I think I must have passed out again.

I guess the ultrasound was a bust because when I came to I found myself in a dark, cold room lying on an uncomfortable x-ray table. I could hear the doctor on the other side of the partition saying, “hm, well, uh, hm.” I’m not sure where this guy got his medical license but he didn’t seem to know what he was doing!

My weary body was again placed in a wheelchair. I was wheeled to a room where my parent’s were waiting. The doctor began talking in quiet tones. I ignored them all I just wanted to disappear! As the doctor’s voice got louder I started to pay attention to what he was saying, “…hysterical depression…mental ward…psychiatrist.” Was he talking about me, were they sending me to the mental ward? I remember wondering, “should I be concerned?” I supposed I should have been concerned, but right then I really didn’t care! All that mattered was that I had to escape the memories, the pain and my own stupidity. Whatever they did to me I deserved it.

how could this happen, from cuckoo's nest to padded cell, Elliot wake up and smell the coffee ( in your little plastic cup so you dont hurt yourself ). i cant believe his parents allowed him to be put in the mental ward, he is just upset really.

Maybe his parents just want the best and beleive the doctors are trying to do their best to help him? Maybe they're taking it to the extremes, he has just been cheated on! Any normal person would get depressed for a while.

Poor Elliott! I guess that's what he gets for being so blind. Even just by the clothes that Melanie was wearing you could tell that she was cheating on him, and he still got a little too obsessed with her. Oh well, I hope he recovers soon! :stick:

Chapter 14 – Healing Begins

The very next day after I was placed in my cell….err…room. I was told that it was time to see my psychiatrist, Dr. Phil Parsh. When I got to Dr. Parsh’s office I admit, I was a bit standoffish. I was uneasy about talking to Dr. Parsh, I mean really, why did I need to see a psychiatrist? If they all left me alone (and I don’t mean in a padded room) I could just fade away to nothingness, that’s all I really wanted to do.

Dr. Parsh quickly made me feel a little more at ease. He greeted me and welcomed me to his office. Looking around I saw the man really liked books; his walls were lined with bookcases. The room felt soothing somehow, like I was back in the Wickering Place library.

Dr. Parsh invited me to have a seat; I looked around, unsure of where to sit. There was an office chair, an easy chair and a lounger. Hesitantly I choose the lounger. We started off by talking about my family and childhood, he also asked me questions about my job and what I liked to do during my free time. I was beginning to loosen up; I started thinking that it wasn’t so bad seeing a shrink.

Until he said, “So, Elliott, what brings you to psychiatric ward of Wickering Place General? My feelings about being at ease came to a screeching halt as I felt my entire body stiffen upon hearing that question! I knew we would have to talk about it, but I wasn’t ready! As pleasant as he seemed, I didn’t want to share my plight with a stranger! Dr. Parsh must have noticed my reluctance, he told me to take my time and let the words come out when they were ready.

I started talking about Melanie, it was so hard to talk about, even saying her name was difficult, it somehow got stuck between my throat and my lips. I told him how we met. I talked about how our relationship progressed, and the disgusting way it ended. I even described her, it dawned on me as I was talking that I when I thought about her I didn’t picture her in the same way I used to.

Dr. Parsh let me talk for a while. When I was done, I was exhausted, I was hoping that our session was over; I just wanted to go to bed and close my weary eyes, make all this pain go away. My wishes were not to be granted. Dr. Parsh said, “Elliott, what do you want to do with this pain, how do you imagine you might make it stop?”

I closed my eyes for a long moment, in the comfort of darkness I thought about his question. I pictured myself on top of a cliff looking down onto jagged, treacherous rocks below. I thought about how easy it would be to step off that cliff and end the pain, the anguish, on the rocky surface below.

I told the doctor what I was thinking. “But Elliott,” Dr. Parsh said calmly, “Why do you want to end your life? Were you the one who caused the pain? What did you do wrong that makes you want to take such drastic measures?” I contemplated this for a while, why were shrinks always asking questions, weren’t they supposed to be telling you what to do? Why did I want to throw myself off the cliff? “To end it,” I answered emphatically. I suddenly had the uncontrollable urge to jump up from my seat as I started to list the reasons why, “I didn’t see what was in front of my face the whole time! I trusted her! I let myself get played the entire time, like a puppet! I didn’t listen to the people who cared about me!”

Dr. Parsh responded with, “End what, your life? Is that really the answer to your problems? Who caused you the pain? Think Elliott, do you really want to end your life? Wouldn’t it be better to place the blame on the person who caused you the pain? Yes, you weren’t seeing things clearly but that isn’t your fault Elliott, you were just being yourself. You have a trusting nature and you care about people, there is nothing wrong with that. Now try to picture what you would do if you were able to place the blame where it belongs, with Melanie.”

I stood there thinking for a long moment. What would I do? A small smile found it’s way to my lips for the first time in weeks as the thought took form in my mind.”

“Now that’s more like it Elliott!” Dr. Parsh exclaimed in a pleased voice. “Elliott, just because you have thoughts about wanting to kick her off a cliff doesn’t make you a bad person, you can think these thoughts without acting on them.”

Dr. Parsh continued, “now imagine Melanie is in front of you right now, you can confront her, tell her how she made you feel.” I didn’t have to think very long about it, I pictured her standing in front of me, I was telling her that I knew what type of person she was and how she made me feel, and that I wasn’t going to be her victim any longer!

“Very good Elliott!” This is exactly what you need to do,” Dr. Parsh said. “Do not internalize the pain and blame, put it squarely where it belongs. You need to take this experience and learn from it, be aware of what is happening to you. Listen to what your family tells you, take it to heart and know that they want what’s best for you. I do not think you need to stay here in the hospital,” he said thoughtfully. “I’m going to recommend a treatment for you that might seem a bit radical at first but in the end you will be a new man, ready to re-start your life and able to cope with your problems in a mature responsible way.”

You know if Elliott wants I happen to know a nice looking girl sim with a gun who can, well you know take care of lifes little problems. She happens to be on vacation until Ch 2 so lots of free time if you want her :) The only downside would be is Elliott would have to take a very long vacation or uh well change his looks I know a rocking make-up women..
