Up until that point, Ella had been willing to go along with anything Ash wanted, in hopes of keeping him calm. But seeing him standing there, leering down at her sons, something inside her snapped. She wasn't willing to play nice anymore.

"HEY!" she boomed, hurrying over to step between Ash and the kids. "What do you think you're doing?! Get away from my kids!"

Ash chuckled, but to Ella's relief, complied. Turning his back on the twins, he looked Ella up and down and sneered. "Your kids?" he repeated, smirking. "Last I heard, it takes two...they're just as much mine as they are yours! And I think I have a right to see my boys."

He wasn't bothered by her glare of pure hatred.

Ash took another long, deliberate look at the babies. "Well, we'll see what the courts have to say about that," he replied, shrugging. "Let's see...will they side with the unemployed, high school dropout who I met at a BAR (and who lied to me about her age)? Or will they side with the mature, responsible adult with a steady job? What do you think?"

"You think they'd pick YOU over ME?" Ella retorted angrily. "Yeah right! Wait until they hear about all those times you hit me!"

"But can you prove it, Ella baby?" Ash responded, grinning. "You're the habitual liar, remember? And I'm just the sad daddy who wants to see his kids!" To prove his point, Ash made himself cry on demand, enjoying Ella's reaction. His crocodile tears made Ella feel sick to her stomach.

Livid, Ella lunged at him. Without even thinking about what she was doing - or stopping to consider the consequences, Ella slapped Ash hard.

The second her open palm made contact with Ash's mouth, Ella regretted it. She immediately recoiled and waited fearfully to see how he would react.

Caught off guard, he raised a hand to touch his jaw, a red mark already forming. Then he roared with laughter. "Smart move, honey," he taunted. "The judge will love the bruise this is going to leave!" Then Ash raised his hands in feigned terror. "Oooh," he mocked, "I'd better get out of here before she hits me again!"

Ella wanted nothing more than to kill him in that instant.

Thankfully, Ash seemed to realize that he'd pushed the girl to her breaking point. Satisfied that he'd accomplished what he'd set out to do, he let himself out.

And as Ella's fury faded, worry set in. She wasn't a lawyer, but she knew that Ash had a strong case. Especially because she couldn't prove any of the violence or verbal abuse that had taken place during the course of their marriage. Any way she looked at it, it seemed Ash had the upper hand.

Which meant he'd most certainly be granted, at the very least, unsupervised visitation with the twins.

When Ella's parents arrived at the house, she was rocking back and forth on the kitchen floor, protectively clutching a baby in each arm. All three of them were crying hysterically.

Actually, there are only a few more parts left for the entire "Simville" series. I feel like I can't really extend these stories much longer, plus I'm getting a little tired of these characters. ;) Besides, I'm anxious to create a new custom 'hood and start fresh.

Winter hit Simville with a vengeance in the middle of November. It wasn't particularly cold, just dreary and bleak.

Some people found the fresh blanket of white snow beautiful and invigorating, but not Dorian Verucio. He hated it; it made him miserable. Well, it probably didn't help that he was miserable to begin with.

As he sat on the front steps watching Adriana play in the snow, he sulked. "I'm going to get hemorroids sitting out here in this damn freezer!" he muttered to himself angrily.

But truthfully, that wasn't what he was really worried about...

Adriana was his biggest problem.

He felt like she was slipping away more and more each day.

She always seemed to want to spend time with her mother, and when she was home, she seemed to constantly talk about all the fun she and her mom had had, or what their plans for the upcoming weekend were. Even though he was sure Stacy didn't intend to, Dorian felt like she was pushing him out of Adriana's life.

"Daddy, look at me!" Adriana called as she balanced atop the wooden sled he'd built for her three years ago.

He grunted in her general direction, then promptly resumed his brooding.

It didn't help matters that he and Violet seemed to be growing apart. She was a nice girl, but the age difference seemed more prominent lately. Violet couldn't relate to his parental responsibilities, and though she tried to be sympathetic and understanding when he worried about Adriana, he could tell she was growing frustrated.

"Daddyyyyyyyy!" Adriana squealed, now teetering on the side of the snowman she'd constructed earlier in the day. "Lookit! I'm Spiderman!"

"You're going to break it!" he replied absently. Why couldn't anything ever go his way? He was losing Adriana, losing Violet...everyone he cared about was slipping away from him.

"Eeeeeeee!" Adriana shrieked happily as she leapt into a snowbank, then climbed back onto the snowman and prepared to do it all over again.

Adriana stopped and looked at her father curiously. He rarely yelled, and she couldn't see what she was doing that was so horrible. Shrugging, she reluctantly shook the snow off her coat and followed Dorian inside.

Dorian felt a little bad for snapping at Adriana. "Do you want some hot chocolate?" he offered, trying to make up for his outburst.

"No thanks," came the reply. "Mommy should be here any minute."

"Oh?"

"She's taking me shopping," Adriana elaborated. "Oops...did I forget to tell you? It's okay if I go, right Daddy?"

Dorian shrugged and flopped down on the couch moodily, not even bothering to take off his jacket. "What do I care? It's not like you ever want to do anything or go anywhere with me," he muttered, half to himself.

"I said sure, honey. Have fun."

Adriana went to wait at the front door, and a few minutes later, led her mother inside. "I want to show her my new video games before we go!" the little girl announced when she saw her father's look of surprise. He definitely hadn't been expecting to see his estranged wife in his living room!

"You have a lovely home," Stacy commented politely. Her demeanor was stiff, formal. Obviously she felt as uncomfortable being in Dorian's house as he felt having her there!

Dorian didn't bother to reply.

Stacy looked at him curiously. "I'm surprised to see that you haven't started decorating for Christmas yet...you always used to have the tree up before the Halloween decorations had even been taken down!"

"Mrmnph," he replied unintelligably.

Stacy turned to Adriana. "How about you go grab some mittens?" she suggested. "It's supposed to really cool off later this afternoon."

As soon as Adriana had gone off to her room to retrieve the mittens, Stacy confronted Dorian. "What's the matter?" she wanted to know. "You're definitely not yourself."

Stacy blinked, then graciously decided to let the cheap shot go. "Fair enough," she agreed. "But seriously, what's up Dorian? I'm worried."

He jumped to his feet. "You really want to know? FINE! What's wrong is that I'VE been the one who raised Adriana all these years. I'VE been the one who was there, NOT YOU! And now you think you can just waltz back into her life and take her away from me - "

Stacy's eyes widened. "Is that what you think?" she interrupted, concerned. "That isn't what I meant to do at all...I just wanted to spend some time with her..."

"But that's the problem! The time you spend with her is time I DON'T get to spend with her! Like Halloween, and every single weekend, and even some weekdays...I bet you're going to want to have her for Christmas, too, aren't you?!" he demanded, getting emotional. "And I can't say no! I don't want to say no, because keeping her from you doesn't seem right. But I don't want to say yes either...it isn't fair." Dorian sounded like he was choking back tears. "None of this is fair."

"You're right; it isn't fair." Stacy thought for a moment. "Maybe we can find a way to compromise, though. I think we'd better, for Adriana's sake..."

Her face lit up as she had an "aha" moment. "I know!" she exclaimed, looking proud of herself. "Why don't both of you come for Christmas? You seem like you could use a break, and there will be too much turkey for Adriana and I to eat anyway."

"Well okay," Stacy replied. "I know it's not the most comfortable of situations. I just thought it would be one way for us to both get to spend Christmas with Adriana - and for her to get to spend Christmas with both parents. But if you think it'd be too weird, I get it."

"I'm ready to go! I found my mittens!" Adriana announced triumphantly as she returned to the living room, interrupting the discussion. She grabbed her mother's hand and pulled her toward the door. "Bye Daddy!"

Why Dorian is worried about not be the perfect dad? If my wife would have behave in this way, I would say "Darling, you have left when you wanted and you come back when you wanted. What do you want from me? If that doesn't work I'm not sure about a pile of elephants or a pond of piranhas, but I could most likely send a huge flock of very angry seagulls to kill Ash, or better yet have Megabyte infect Ash so we could make him our servant! I can dream can't I? :bump:

True, I guess none of the stories can go on much longer, except for maybe Garret's story, but it could end up like Dorian's story if the new marriage doesn't work out, speaking of Dorian, good update, he's one of my favorite characters!

The holidays can make people do strange things. That time of year can cause the world's biggest jerks to, in a hypocritical move, become the nicest people on earth...only temporarily, of course. The holidays can inspire people to show their loved ones that they care, or to become more generous.

On the other hand, they can also cause so much stress that they drive people to the loony bin, making them depressed, irritable, and an all around pain to be with.

Simville is home to residents who fit both categories.

Mindy Manson usually found herself extra happy around the holidays. She loved the smell of pine needles from the Christmas tree, the familiar tunes of seasonal jingles on the radio, and the cozy, secure feeling that came with curling up in front of a warm fire.

But this year, as she spent the holidays at her son's house, she just felt sad.

She halfheartedly watched from the couch as her family celebrated Christmas. It wasn't even noon yet, but her youngest granddaughter, Deirdre, had apparently decided to open her gifts early - as well as the rest of the family's!

Her older brother just laughed and scooped her up. "I think that baseball bat is for me," he informed her good naturedly. "Hey, thanks, Mom and Dad!"

Mindy stood, and stiffly walked over to join her family.

When she saw her son and his wife steal a moment for a tender, loving kiss, however, she couldn't take it anymore. She had to see Dominic!

She'd been furious with him at the time she'd called the marriage off, but since then, her anger had faded. In its place was a profound sadness, that made even the simplest of tasks, such as getting out of bed in the morning, a chore.

"I - uh...I'm going to go for a drive," Mindy mumbled, then slipped out the door before he family could question her further. She didn't even bother to put on her winter jacket. Luckily, it was a mild day, so her colourful knit sweater was sufficient.

Mindy walked out to her car, and hoped that she wouldn't have to scrape the windshield. Snow drifts had collected around the tires through the night, but thankfully, the accumulation was minimal, and didn't require shovelling.

She climbed into the icy vehicle, and smiling uncertainly, drove to the house she and Dominic had once shared.

She pulled up in front of her former home, and climbed out of the car. She headed to the door unsuspectingly. How could she have possibly known that over the weekend, Dominic had purchased a rifle? And a handgun. And a machete.

Yes, as we've discussed, the holidays can do strange things to people. Most people can handle the stress; they go a little bonkers for a few weeks, then, once the excitement of the season is over, they're able to return to their normal lives and normal states of mind.

But Dominic's state of mind had never exactly been "normal" to begin with! So, with his lovelife (lovelives?) in shambles, and the stress of the holidays upon him, I think it would be safe to say that Dominic had finally gone off the deep end.

Poor Mindy just didn't see that the man she'd married was a big weirdo, though. Love, as they say, had made her blind.

But, it hadn't made her stupid.

Halfway to the door, Mindy stopped dead in her tracks. "What am I doing?" she whispered to herself incredulously. It seemed that for a brief moment, she'd forgotten WHY she'd left Dominic. The fibbing, the suspected cheating, the hurt feelings...those things don't just vanish all on their own.

Yeeeesh, she'd almost made a fool of herself! Turning around, Mindy headed back to her car.

Maybe she wasn't over him yet, Mindy admitted to herself. But that was okay. That would come, with time. And, even though she was sad and having doubts right now, that, too, would fade.

She was going to be just fine.

And she was better off without Dominic in her life.

Climbing back into her car, Mindy headed back to her son's house, to spend the rest of the day with her family. She was completely oblivious to Dominic's hunched over figure sitting in the shadows of the darkened living room, a machete clutched tightly in his sweaty fist.

Mindy had no idea that she'd just narrowly escaped a bloody, violent, and untimely death.

Mindy wasn't the only woman who had Dominic on her mind that day. Elizabeth, too, couldn't get him out of her head.

She didn't want him back or anything - she was confident that her decision to end their romance had been wise. She was just concerned about how he was taking it; he hadn't responded to any of her emails.

She was on her way to pick up Gavin Jenson; she'd invited him to spend Christmas with her and her brother, since she knew that his first Christmas without Tawni was sure to be a tough one.

She glanced down at the clock and saw that she was a few minutes early.

Impulsively, she swung her brother's pickup truck around and headed over to Dominic's house.

The holidays were a difficult time for lots of people, Elizabeth knew. Previous years, she'd struggled with Christmas herself, as the temptation to overeat was at its most intense. She figured Dominic must be going through a rough time following the breakup, so it wouldn't hurt to check on him.

She pulled into the driveway and climbed out of the truck. Immediately, a strange sound invaded her ears. It sounded like...like...mooing? Huh?

Elizabeth took a few more steps toward the house, then spotted the source of the noise. There, crouched down under a snow-covered shrub, was Dominic. He was mooing loudly, machete in hand, and seemed to be chopping down all the vegetation in the front yard for some inexplicable reason!

Hoo boy. He'd really lost it, hadn't he?

"Uh...Dominic?" Elizabeth asked tentatively. "What are you doing?"

He ignored her and kept right on mutilating the poor little shrub.

"Dominic, why don't you leave that for a while and come with me?" Elizabeth suggested, concerned that he'd hurt himself if left alone.

Finally, she had his attention.

"Well, okay," he relented, setting down the machete (much to Elizabeth's relief!) "I'm about done out here anyway," he told her, surveying the now-barren front yard.

"Hey...you've lost weight," he observed dully.

"Mhm. Hop in the truck before you get chilled!" Elizabeth reminded him, trying to help him focus. His eyes were wild.

"In a minute," he agreed. "First I should go into the house and comb my hair."

"Uh, okay," Elizabeth told him, glad that he was being so cooperative. "I'll wait out here."

As he walked away, Dominic muttered under his breath like a madman. Elizabeth couldn't make out what he was saying, but had she been able to, it's safe to say she wouldn't have stuck around a second longer.

"Stupid b*tch," Dominic grumbled to himself as he unsteadily staggered inside on legs that felt like jello. "Loses a little weight and suddenly thinks she's too good for me. Stupid, stupid b*tch. I'll show her! MOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Oh man, the suspense! Great update once again Sim Sagas! I think Dominic is gonna do more than comb his hair when he goes in his house, oh no! Don't die Elizabeth, don't die! Then it's even more grief for Gavin!

True to his word, Dominic walked inside, picked up a comb, and ran it through his hair. Then, just as calmly, he walked back out into the living room and picked up his newly purchased gun.

He didn't really know how to use a gun, but had decided that today was the day he was going to find out!

Gun in hand, he ventured back outside, where Elizabeth stood patiently, waiting. The poor girl who always looked for the good in everyone didn't suspect a thing.

"Making myself heard," he said calmly, setting the gun down casually on the lawn, as though it were a magazine or cold glass of lemonade.

Then, before Elizabeth had even processed what was happening, Dominic was looming over her, his hands wrapped tightly around her neck, choking her.

"WHY DIDN'T YOU WANT ME?!" Dominic bellowed as he cut off Elizabeth's airway. "WHY WASN'T I GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU? WHY DO THEY ALL LEAVE ME?!?!"

Elizabeth thought he was going to choke the life right out of her. But, at the last minute, he let go and began pacing, agitated. Elizabeth gasped for air and struggled to remain conscious.

Oh no!!!! Poor Elizabeth!

Meanwhile, Dorian Verucio was having some tense moments of his own. Granted, his weren't life or death - just awkward. He was at his estranged wife's house for Christmas dinner!

He hadn't wanted to go, but figured he'd better, for his daughter's sake. Besides, he didn't want to spend Christmas alone; his mom and younger siblings were spending Christmas in the Sim Islands with his mom's boyfriend, and Violet had made it painfully clear that she wouldn't be around, either.

So, there he was, ringing the doorbell of Stacy's house, while Adriana chirped happily about Santa Clause and reindeer.

Stacy invited them into the living room, where she and Dorian stiffly sat on opposite sides of the couch, as far away from one another as possible. Both stared straight ahead, probably both silently cursing the circumstances that had led them there, to that very moment.

Adriana was oblivious to the tension, however; she was much too busy oohing and aahing at all the presents under the tree!

"You can open them after we eat, okay honey?" Stacy suggested. "The turkey should be done by now!"

It smelled delicious! But unfortunately, Stacy wasn't hungry. Truth be told, the stress of having to spend the entire evening with Dorian for the sake of their daughter had likely killed her appetite.

Adriana wolfed down her food, then perched between her parents on the couch. "Hurryyy Daddyyy!" she urged, eager to unwrap the presents.

"How about you go wash your hands and face?" he proposed, trying to get her to stop whining so he could enjoy the rest of the meal. "When you get back, you can open your gifts!"

He finished eating while she was gone, then stood and peered under the tree incredulously. "Wow, Stace, how many presents did you get her?!" he inquired, half-joking.

He said it mostly just to fill that awkward silence that always seemed to set in whenever Adriana wasn't there. Unfortunately, Stacy seemed to interpret it as criticism, and flushed. "I went a little overboard," she admitted sheepishly. "I guess I'm just trying to make up for lost time."

"PRESENTSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Adriana charged back into the room and plopped down beside the tree, eagerly tearing into parcel after parcel. Dorian sat down on the floor near her, enjoying her excitement, while Stacy looked on anxiously, hoping Adriana would like her gifts.

"There's a stocking for you on the mantle, too," Stacy reminded her giddy daughter once all the "neat-looking" presents had been opened (those which were clearly clothing remained untouched, as was to be expected).

The hyper little girl launched herself onto her startled mother's lap, a candy cane clutched tightly in her little fist. Dorian was a bit amused; more sugar in her system was certainly the LAST thing Adriana needed right then! But, since it was a special occassion, he let it go, and allowed her to munch away on the holiday treat.

Dorian snuck a peek at his watch. Aghh! It was only 6:30! Was this night EVER going to end?!

Moo... I mean, uh, CRAP! ELIZABETH GET OUT OF THERE! KICK HIM... y'know... where it hurts... where the sun don't shine ;)

And it's sweet and sad how blind Adriana is to all the tension.

A few moments later, the phone rang. Dorian was glad for the distraction. As Stacy left to answer it, he tried to think of an excuse to leave early. Pity he couldn't think of one!

"Adriana, it's for you," Stacy announced as she returned to the living room, telephone in hand.

It was Adriana's friend Georgie, calling to see if she could go over to his house to see his new toys, then build snow forts with him on the front lawn.

"CAN I CAN I CAN I PLEAAAAAAAASE?!" the sugared-up little girl begged her parents. Not wanting to say no to her daughter, Stacy hesitated, then looked at Dorian for approval. He figured it would be good for Adriana to burn some of that excess energy off, so nodded.

Stacy helped her into her new snowsuit (actually, she had to unwrap it for her, since it was still under the tree! :D) and saw her off, gently reminding her to keep her scarf and mittens on while she was outside.

As she saw her daughter out the door, Stacy grinned. "That's so cute; those two are inseperable," she commented to Dorian. "I'll be surprised if they don't get married someday!"

The overprotective dad chuckled. "Not anytime soon, I hope!"

Not knowing what else to do, Stacy rejoined Dorian on the couch. They were careful to set the decorative pillows between them, as a protective physical barrier. Then that dreaded, oh-so-familiar awkward silence took over once again.

"Uh. Mind if I turn on the TV?" Dorian asked, feeling stupid.

"Go ahead," Stacy replied, feeling equally dumb.

Dorian flipped the impressive largescreen television on, and found an old Smurfs Christmas Special on. Well, it was better than awkward silence...wasn't it?

"Listen, Dorian," Stacy began hesitantly on the first commercial break. "I've been thinking a lot about what you said the other day, and you were right. I've been selfish. I didn't intend to edge in on your and Adriana's relationship, but I see now that that's exactly what I've been doing. I'm really sorry."

Dorian shrugged. "I know you didn't mean it. And I can understand why you wanted to spend so much time with her." He smiled affectionately as he thought about his little girl. "She's my favourite person to spend time with, too."

"Can we try to work out some sort of arrangement?" Stacy asked meekly. "I know you've always done what's in Adriana's best interests, and that you always will, so I'll leave the details of the arrangement up to you...I'll respect whatever decision you make."

"I don't know," Dorian replied honestly. "It's a tough situation. Really tough. I don't know if there is a way to keep everyone from getting their feelings hurt. But I think it would be good for Adriana if we were to try to get along..."

Dorian got up and paced over to the window, peering outside. Returning to the couch, he glanced back at the television, and saw that the Smurfs special was just ending. And Adriana still wasn't back.

As if on cue, the telephone rang. It was Adriana. She said that Georgie's parents had invited her in for hot chocolate and Christmas cookies, and asked if she could stay a little longer. Georgie's parents could drive her back to Stacy's afterward. Though both had been hoping that Adriana would return soon to distract them, what could Stacy and Dorian do but give their permission?

"I should go," Dorian announced quickly. "Thanks for the turkey dinner; it was really tasty."

Stacy stood up and began to follow him to the door, then hesitated. "Do you need to go just yet?" she asked nervously. "You might think this is stupid, but I...I was wondering if you could stay a while and tell me about Adriana? About all that time I missed? About her life?"

"Oh. Well...sure, I guess."

Though Dorian and Stacy still found it difficult to talk to one another about the most mundane of things, there was one thing they would always have in common: Adriana. So, for the next hour, Dorian and Stacy sat and talked fondly about the person they both loved best.

Back in the centre of Simville, quite the drama was unfolding. But alas, everyone in Simville seemed oblivious to Elizabeth's distress as Dominic cornered her on the front lawn of his house and terrorized her with a gun.

Garret Thompson just happened to be driving by in his police cruiser. He'd offered to go along with Vince Verucio to his first AA meeting, for moral support. The meeting had gone well, and both were in good spirits.

Vince just happened to glance out the window as they drove past Dominic's residence. Seeing Dominic, he pointed him out to Garret. "Hey! That's the guy who beat me up! I'm sure of it! And now it looks like he's got it in for that woman!"

Garret slammed on the brakes and jumped out of the car. Vince did the same. "You don't have to come," Garret told the softspoken former alcoholic. "It could get dangerous."

"If it gets dangerous, you might need me there to help you!" Vince replied courageously. "Hey!" he shouted as they neared the couple. "He's got a gun!"

Dominic whipped around and waved the weapon in their faces. "Damn straight!" he cackled crazily, looking dishevelled despite having recently combed his hair. "SO BACK OFF OR I'LL KILL YOU! I'LL KILL YOU ALL AHAHAHA!"

Vince glanced at Garret uncertainly, wondering what they should do. Garret was wondering the exact same thing. Thinking back to his police training, he frantically tried to come up with a plan that would keep Dominic from hurting anyone. "Concentrate, Garret," he whispered to himself in an attempt to stay calm. "Concentrate..."

"HEY UNCLE GARRET!!!!!!!!! Whatcha doin' here?" a familiar voice interrupted his thoughts.

His nephew Harrison hopped over a snowbank and waved. "Look what I got for Christmas!" he shouted excitedly, gesturing to the baseball bat he held in his hand.

"I'm just heading over to Ella's," the teenager continued, completely oblivious to the tense situation before him. "Wanna come?"

"HARRISON, NO!" Garret shouted, panicking. He could keep his cool in most situations, but not when a member of his own family was in grave danger!

"Oh, okay," Harrison replied, briefly looking like a wounded puppy dog. Then it clicked. Dominic's gun, I mean, as he prepared to shoot the unsuspecting fifteen year old boy.

Harrison finally realized what was happening. Dropping his baseball bat, the petrified boy fell to his knees as his very life was threatened.

"NO!" Elizabeth threw herself in front of the defenseless boy, half-expecting to be shot. "Can't you see, he's just a child, Dominic! Leave him alone!"

Garret scanned his surroundings helplessly, but saw nothing that could help him save the others. He was dead meat. They all were.

"So," the crazy old man chortled gleefully, "who wants to die first?"

The Northen Lights shone so brightly that it was difficult to tell whether it was day or night. It was surreal, that was for sure. The unseasonable weather, the unusual situation unfolding in the heart of Simville...all of it seemed unreal.

For Dominic, every day seemed that way. His version of reality was, well...off. Dominic wasn't actually a bad person. He was just mentally ill, and his behaviour was strange and unpredictable, at best. And now, he'd finally gone off the deep end.

"MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" he screamed suddenly, throwing himself on the ground. The gun bounced out of his hand, and everyone watched as though they were watching an instant replay on The Sports Network in slow motion.

Although Garret did have the sense to whip out his trusty police-issued handcuffs!

In response to all of Dominic's bellowing - and mooing - a small crowd of curious sims had gathered at the end of the driveway. A few of them cheered as they saw Dominic lurch to the ground, believing that tragedy had been narrowly escaped.

When the gun hit the ground, however, that premature celebration quickly turned to chaotic confusion and mass panic. For Dominic, whose experience with guns was...well, minimal, had forgotten to turn on the 'safety.' The finnicky gun went off, firing a shot out across the street.

Everybody was helpless to do anything.

They could only watch in horror as the events unfolded before them...

The surprised gunshot victim clutched his chest, and gurgled something unintelligible.

Then, he fell to the icy ground, dead.

Ten minutes later, the tense atmosphere gave way to one of frenzied excitement. Residents of the neighbourhood huddled together in small groups, talking in low, serious tones. The police arrived and began collecting statements, while "the men in white coats" coaxed an incoherantly-babbling Dominic into a straightjacket.

Garret was always disappointed when a disturbance escalated to violence, or, in this case, death. But, he admitted to himself, if someone had to die? Well, in that case, things couldn't have turned out much better. ;)

Across town, Dorian was jolted awake by a loud noise. "What was THAT?!" he mumbled to himself, simultaneously yawning.

"Probably just someone's engine backfiring," a comfortingly-familiar voice replied. Dorian nearly jumped out of his skin!

Well, Dorian didn't know what Stacy had been thinking, but he knew exactly what he'd been thinking. As they'd sat together in front of the crackling fire, talking about the beautiful daughter they'd created, Dorian had remembered how much he missed Stacy. He'd been thinking about how sweet it was to hear her talk so lovingly about their daughter. He'd been thinking that her skin looked soft and smooth in the glow of the flames. He'd been thinking that he'd really like to kiss her.

So he had.

And from there, it had led them...here!

Once the uproar of Simville's first ever homocide quieted down a bit, life in Simville returned to normal. Simville's Tourism Board prefers to pretend that the entire episode never occurred...but trust me, it did.

By the New Year, Dorian and Stacy were back together. Stacy still goes to her therapist regularly, and Dorian has even gone a few times with her. They're doing very well, and are extremely happy together. In fact, Stacy is expecting again! This time, she's fully prepared for all of the responsibility that comes with being a parent. Adriana is thrilled to be getting a new little brother or sister.

Deirdre continues to be a busy, curious toddler, who is rapidly approaching her next birthday.

...Their decision was probably for the best, as it would have been strange to be having another baby when they were already proud grandparents!

Ella and the boys are fine. The twins are full-fledged toddlers now, and definitely keep Ella on her toes! Luckily, she has all the support she needs from her family and friends.

She went back to school, and, after a lot of hard work, was proud to be able to graduate with her friends. She and Jossalyn plan to go to the community college together...so that Ella can get a good education, and so that Jossalyn can make out with lots of "hot college guys."

Officer Garret Thompson, who never thought he'd be the settling down sort of guy, surprised everyone when he took an extended leave from his job so that he could babysit Ella's twins while she was at school. His wife Kristi thought it would be good training for him. ;)

Garret's friends at the police station were sad to see him go, but his position was filled by someone very capable, who Garret specifically requested get the job. Being someone who believes very strongly in second chances, Garret placed all his faith in the new officer...and wasn't disappointed!

Officer Vincent Verucio started his new job exactly two months after he quit drinking. He loves being a policeman, and has been sober for five months, twelve days, and counting. The day of the infamous Simville murder, Vince not only learned of his desire to be a police officer...he also met the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen - inside and out. Her name is Elizabeth.

They were married on Vince's forty-ninth birthday, officially ending forty-nine years of bachelorhood. Elizabeth managed to only have two pieces of wedding cake, and is healthier and happier than ever. She's finally learned to "eat to live," rather than "live to eat!" An added plus is that both understand addiction, and are able to encourage each other and help out during the rough patches.

Elizabeth and her brother are still running the family farm together, and it's more prosperous than ever.

Mindy decided that the best way to get over Dominic was to get out in the community. So, she decided to do some volunteer work.

She was serving cookies and juice at a grief support group when she met a (very sane) widower named Gavin Jenson.

So far, they're just very good friends; it's still a little soon for either of them to be thinking about romance again. But, who knows what the future holds?

And Dominic, you ask?

Well, he's still enjoying his stay at the Simville Mental Health Clinic. He's by far the Psychiatric Ward's most..."entertaining" patient. He spends most of his days strutting around his room like a chicken while wearing a cape and helmut. The doctors were baffled by his odd behaviour at first, but eventually figured out that it was his unique way of trying to impress the young, attractive nurses. ;)

I doubt you'll find any of these stories in Simville's tourism brochure, which is a shame. So, I guess you'll just have to visit Simville yourself sometime, so that you can experience the tiny, bustling oceanside community for yourself. Until then, goodbye! :howdy:

Vince was just a secondary character, which is why I didn't write more about him. I think it's safe to say that the focus of the 'Simville' series was mostly on Dorian, Ella, and Elizabeth. Other characters, like Vince, Mindy, and the Jensons were just meant to help flesh the story out a bit.

You're right, I never said! I decided not to elaborate on that for two reasons. First of all, I figured that the "Ash" character in my head would likely just say something like that to manipulate Ella, as he did throughout the story - whether it was true or not. Secondly (and feel free to disagree with me), I don't think it really matters. Could ANYTHING justify his abuse? Maybe some of you think so, but personally, I don't.

...Though that's kind of similar to Stacy's story, in a way. I know that those of you who commented thought that Stacy leaving Adriana was inexcusable. When you found out WHY she did it, some of you seemed to forgive what she did, while others still thought she was horrible.

I sort of saw a connection between Stacy and Ash. There was a common theme there of "second chances," but the ways they embraced those second chances were completely different. Stacy seemed to change for the better, and sincerely tried to be a good person, while Ash only pretended to have regrets and remorse in order to keep getting/doing what he wanted.

Anyway! I didn't write these stories to dictate what you guys should think. I just hoped to entertain a few people and/or even provoke a little discussion. Nothing more. ;)

Cyprus, I think I can help you a little.I'm pretty sure elizabeth was wearing plus size clothes, so it makes her look alot bigger. Then she probably used the insim to make the face less fat and then changed the clothes so she was just the maxis's version of fat. Just trying to help :)

I have downloaded several hairs and clothings. I unzip them and put them in the download folder. When i open my game i see some of these hairs and clothing that appear correctly and some that are not appearing in the correct way. so i can not use that item. What am i doing wrong. PLS help me.

Hi,
I'm really enjoying this Sim soap opera. It's well written and the characters so real. I read all on Dorian and will read the rest of the stories.
The one about Elizabeth looked really good.
P.S. I know we aren't suppose to clog the threads with 'where did you get that questions?', but um...*whispers* Where did you get the Barbie Dream House and Barbies. Do you need any expansion packs for it do work?

xbrokenxstarsx, I think the stroller is either from http://www.variousimmers.net/ or www.eclectic-sims.com - either way, you can find nice toddler items both places.

The treehouse isn't a downloaded object. I just made a 2-floor house, deleted the first floor, and used the moveobjects cheat to place the tree. Hopefully that's a clear enough explanation!

Simville was my favourite story to write, and I'm anxious to make another similar story (I'm thinking it may centre around the residents of an apartment complex this time, similar to the place Dorian and Stacy lived at the start of this story). Phew! I started reading this story on Sunday night and have just finished it at around 1 o'clock Monday morning. What a fantastic story - I couldn't stop reading. You should write professionally. The way the stories all came together was great. You made us care about the characters so much too. We loved some and hated others. I must admit that I had a huge grin on my face when I realised it was Ash who had stopped the bullet :evilnod:
I also loved the postscript about Dominic in the asylum :moo:
I look forward to reading more of your stories in the future.

happycowlover, as far as I know, everything is linked properly. All I can suggest is that you try hitting "refresh" and see if it makes the pictures load. If that doesn't work, it's probably a problem with PhotoBucket, so you might just have to wait to see all of the pictures, sorry.

It's been a long time since I wrote the story, but I think I mentioned that Dorian and Violet's relationship had fizzled and she was no longer a part of his life. I didn't include her in the "Where Are They Now?" bit, if that's what you mean. So hmm...now I'm wondering too lol! :)
