Party Like a Rockstar!
a.k.a. PLAR

"Welcome to the first cycle of Party Like a Rockstar (aka PLAR). I am George Tibideau, your boss. I am the owner of PLAR Inc. and am looking to hire a new senior party planner onto my team. Party planning can be a tough business to work in as it takes just the right kind of person with just the right personality to be able to pull off a great party for their clients. A great party planner needs to be timely, efficient, creative and resourceful. I'm looking for the best of the best, the crème de la crème, the… well you get the point. Are you up to the challenge and ready to be senior party planner of PLAR Inc.?"

This is not a beauty contest, and you will not be judged on the looks of your Sim. In this contest, you are a struggling party planner and have just gotten the priceless opportunity to land a position at PLAR Inc. as a senior party planner. Each round will consist of you throwing a new party with a new theme, and each round/party will help fill in the portfolio you will be presenting to George Tibideau in hopes of being hired onto his team.

This is an elimination contest, and contestants will be cut each round.
No Sim-stealing or Sim-tweaking. This is against S2C rules, and you will be disqualified immediately if it is found that you are using a Sim who is not an original creation.
The Sim you enter cannot have already been entered in a contest.
One Sim or couple per contestant. You may enter either a couple (i.e. two Sims) who are a team or one single Sim.
Sims must be adult or elder age.
Sims may be male or female, couples can be opposite-sex or same-sex, and any type of Sim is allowed (alien, human, etc).
Minimum Photoshopping is allowed but not required (i.e. boarders, limited text, etc). Photoshopping abilities may help you in the Final Round for your complete portfolio, but again it is not necessary. You will not be scored on Photoshopping abilities.
I will not be granting extensions. Please do not enter this contest if you do not think you will have time for it. You have been warned.
Sims other than the one you enter may be seen in pictures in any round unless specified.
Please ask all WCIF questions relating to custom content in a PM, not in this thread.

The Plan:

im going to enter but i have a question will the pictures require the party in progress if you know what i mean or just the finished room
Yes, they will require pictures of a party in progress. However, you dont actually have to throw a party in-game, just the illusion of one is fine.

1st Nov 2007, 12:40 PM
Name: Spring Anders
Place of Employment: I am a Free-lance planner for everything and anything
Current Position: I'm my own boss
Short Bio: I am 24 and live in a small flat (apartment) in the central London. I grew up in Newbury with my mother and two brothers. I am outgoing and always up for a laugh.
I am looking for a golden opportunity with this contest to spread my wings and get noticed :anime:

1. How did you get interested in party planning?
Since I was little I've always like to organize things, I used to get all my toys in order before I went to bed or played with them. And I love to party....so it was a natural marriage.
2. What is your favorite type of party to plan?
I love end of school bashes (proms) but my favourite is Halloween parties. You can be really creative and do ANYTHING.
3. Tell us about your worst experience as a party planner.
I was very new to the industry and I was planning a surprise birthday party for a rich 14 year old girl. I had everything perfect, she came home and everyone did the surprise bit but all she could do was stamp her feet and throw everything that was handed to her away. She came right up to me and shouted at me for ruining her birthday and for making it ugly. I have never met someone so ungrateful in all my life. Now when I do girls birthdays I make sure they know about it and are in full charge of the colour scheme.
4. Tell us about your best experience as a party planner.
I don't really have a best experience, I always feel so good when a party goes well and I get thank yous at the end of it. I did once get a bunch of roses from a couple whos wedding I planned, that was really nice.

3rd Nov 2007, 9:02 AM
Application Information:

Name: Sabrina Halifax
Place of Employment: Innovative Solutions, Inc.
Current Position: Public Relations; Catering
Short Bio:

I'm 37 Years Young. I Grew Up in a Small Household With My Mother and Two Sisters. I Am the Oldest of the Two. I Have My Degree in
Hospitality, and Have Experience in the Field of Catering and Public Relations. I am Single and Currently Living in
My Hometown of Washington County, Rhode Island.

1. How did you get interested in party planning?

I have been interested in party planning ever since I was a teenager. It all started when I helped my mother out
when she planned parties. She taught me the basics of party planning, but I wanted to learn more. That all happened
when I Majored in Hospitality during college.
2. What is your favorite type of party to plan?

My Favorite Parties to Plan are Weddings and Baby Showers. Weddings and Baby Showers because lives are begining in
these parties.

3. Tell us about your worst experience as a party planner.

Oh. Let me tell you. I was in charge of catering to a children's party. There was a small group of people who came
to this event around 50-100. Now we were supposed to make a large cake for the Party, and serve BBQ food in a 3
course method. Screaming kids EVERYWHERE! We Were Cooking on the Indoor Grill on the Inside of the Hall and all of a
sudden, the food being cooked burns and turns to chards. Everyone working in the kitchen was busy serving food and
couldn't keep an eye on the food being cooked, the hall catches fire inside the kitchen and everyone was forced to
get out! The head chef (definitely not me, I'm just making the plates look nicer, and everything out of the kitchen pretty.) got fired for not paying attention
to his needs and not everyone elses.

4. Tell us about your best experience as a party planner.

Ah. I Got To Plan for this Lovely couple of Sims. They wanted to have a wedding outside, so the company had to make
a heat and serve meal for the guests. We all (The Couple and I) decided since it's Summer that we have the wedding
on the beach. It was funny because instead of getting married in wedding dresses and tuxedos they wanted to get
married in Bathing Suits! How wacky! They told everyone, instead of wearing formal, to show up in swimwear, but have
an extra change of clothing if the weather persists. Luckily it was a hot day and everyone was in the water, which
is where the couple said their vows. That was one awesome Party.

Place of Employment:
Marquee Events

Current Position:
Officially I'm the Owner and CEO but they call me "The Circus Master"
Basicly meaning, I do everything and anything needed to make these parties look seamless even if its chaos in the backround.

Short Bio:
I'm 25 and I live with my siamese cat Monet, She and I share a townhouse in Boston. When I'm not planning a party I'm hanging out with my Fiance Michael and planning my own wedding.

How did you get interested in party planning?

I planned my sisters wedding and reception since she was on a budget and couldnt afford a planner. The party was such a hit and I liked planning it so much that I decided to plan parties for a living.

What is your favorite type of party to plan?
Wedding Receptions and Spur of the moment Mega Bashes

Tell us about your worst experience as a party planner.

I was planning a surprise birthday party with the surprise-es' college friends and they decided on chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. Well it turned out that the guy was allergic to peanuts and didnt realize what frosting it was until he took a bite and his throat closed up. Luckily for him I have severe asthma and always carry my epi-pen, so I gave him an injection and he was able to breathe again. I was lucky to escape without a lawsuit.

Tell us about your best experience as a party planner.

While I was living in Oregon I planned a cd release part for an amazing band by the name of Issakar. Well they didnt expect a big turnout, but 150 people came out to see them, they broke the fire code for the tiny building we were in and the cops showed up and kicked some of the people out. But still everything turned out amazingly. They guys were pumped about all of the people and performed the best I've ever seen them. Overall a very good party in my humble oppinion.

(yes Issakar is a real band, Google them)

Calla Monroe

Place of Employment:
Elizabeth's Weddings

Current Position:
Wedding Planner

Short Biography:
I'm twenty-seven years old and live in Manhattan with my fiancee and his dog. I'm currently planning my own wedding with my sister's assistance. I enjoy my job, but would like to expand my repetoire and would love to get a position with George Tibideau.

How Did You Get Into Party-Planning?:
When I was in college, I helped plan an outrageous party at my sorority and figured that it might be something I'd like to make a career out of. After that, I switched my major from communications to interior design so that my future party environments would look better.

What Is Your Favorite Type of Party to Plan?:
Definitely weddings and wedding receptions, but seeing as I'm a wedding planner, I don't get the opportunity to plan anything else.

Tell Us About Your Worst Experience as a Party Planner:
Before I landed this job as a wedding planner, I used to be employed to organize children's birthday parties. At a party I arranged for a six-year-old, the clown I hired didn't show up because he was stuck in traffic and I was blamed for the incident. The parents were upset with me, the birthday boy was sobbing because his party was ruined, and the other children were chanting for the clown to come. It was a horrible experience; I haven't ever apologized so much in one day.

Tell Us About Your Best Experience as a Party Planner:
My best experience as a party planner occurred at a holiday party I planned for myself, my family, and a choice few friends. After a delectable dinner of roasted turkey that I somehow managed not to burn, my then-boyfriend took me onto the balcony and proposed to me. I of course accepted, but my family later revealed to me that they had made their suggestions about how I should plan the party to suit his grand proposal plan. It was sweet, and now our wedding is slated for late July.

Freeshot (me and my fiancee, Austin :-D!):

bP: Please don't beat me with a wet noodle :P! Calla already hates me and wouldn't pose right... plus Austin's dog kept wandering over into the picture :banghead:. Hopefully sims won't be this stupid in TS3.

Name(s): Taylor Daniele
Place of Employment: Sheldean & Co's Function Planners
Current Position: Formal Function Planner
Short Bio: Taylor is an ex-model who walked away from the catwalk to become an Interior Designer, but moved to party planning when she helped organise her best friend's 21st. She was born in England, but moved to Australia when she was seven. Taylor has travelled around the world and is very culture-wise, can speak three languages and is a very fun loving person!

1. How did you get interested in party planning? When it was my best friend's birthday all my friends and I decided to throw her a huge bash. We gave it a theme (Explosions for Emma!) and had many original ideas. After the huge success, which included us making it into the newspaper, we decided to open a company together. Sheldean is our Manager.
2. What is your favorite type of party to plan? Weddings, they're just so beautiful!
3. Tell us about your worst experience as a party planner. The time I organised a party for a bunch of four-year-olds on a boat. There was vomit everywhere, one of the presents went overboard and all the balloons burst. Complete disaster.
4. Tell us about your best experience as a party planner. My sister, Sabrina, wanted me to plan her wedding. It was so beautiful! The whole thing was just an explosion of colour; roses, lillies, violets, sunflowers, daisies, peonies, orchids and so much more! It was on the beach and everything.

Name: Heather Lewis

Place of Employment: Romances Inc.

Current Position: Wedding Planner

Short Bio: I'm Heather Marie Lewis, twenty-six years old, and ready to get out of this dingy apartment of mine. Well, it's not really mine; I live with my friend Ian Parker...my sister got tired of me hanging around her place. I'd really love to land a position at PLAR Inc. because I feel I will benefit from the experience. And getting the job would be a great kick-off for my life.

1. How did you get interested in party planning? I grew up around my aunt mostly, and she was a pretty well-known party planner. It may be in the blood, but I also think that I naturally love to please people.

2. What is your favorite type of party to plan? Before I began working at Romances, I used to plan holiday parties. I guess Christmas parties are my favorite to plan, just because I love everything associated with that time of year.

3. Tell us about your worst experience as a party planner. I think my worst experience was actually as a wedding planner...not too long ago. The bride wouldn't come out of the dressing room because of my horrible attempt to fix her dress that I tore.

4. Tell us about your best experience as a party planner. My best experience was watching how happy my mother was when I planned her second wedding. I think we were all afraid that she'd never love again...

Looking great, [Noiseless]sound! Thanks for entering Heather into the competition.

5th Nov 2007, 7:00 PM
Application Information:

Name: Frankie Hamilton
Place of Employment: Landgraab-Goth LLC Corporate Event Planning Service
Current Position: Assistant to the Director of the Bluewater Branch
Short Bio: After graduating from Sim State University with a degree in Drama, a relative offered me a job at Landgraab-Goth, in Bluewater Village. I took the job and immediately moved into the Bluewater Coast Apartments. My goal is to be the senior party planner for a well known event planning company that does exciting, elaborate weddings and sweet-sixteen birthday parties, rather than the corporate type events we do at Landgraab-Goth. In my spare time, I do set design for productions by the Bluewater Players, a community theater group.

1. How did you get interested in party planning? I started planning parties in college. A couple of my friends share a birthday, so the rest of us were going to throw them a huge surprise 21st birthday party. Well, the people who were helping me plan made up a huge guest list, invited a ton of people, and then bailed, leaving me to plan the whole thing. It turned out to be great party, and people started hiring me to plan their parties.

2. What is your favorite type of party to plan? I love planning parties for teenagers and young adults. It's something I don't often get the chance to do now that I work for a corporate event planning service. It's so much fun to plan for teenagers, though, because they're always ready for something new and exciting.

3. Tell us about your worst experience as a party planner. When I first started working for Landgraab-Goth, we did a holiday event for the entirity of Landgraab Industries. It was meant to be a party for employees and their families, but there was some miscommunication between our branch and the head office. We didn't know it was a family event. So we planned a very elegant adult party, and had absolutely nothing for the children to do. Needless to say, the children were very bored. So they started a food fight. All of the adults were very angry. Our branch hasn't been asked to plan the holiday party since that disaster.

4. Tell us about your best experience as a party planner. I once planned a hip-hop themed prom for a local high school. It turned out so perfectly. Even the principal said it was the best prom they had in many years, and she recommended me to other area schools. It was a lot of work planning a hip-hop themed party and keeping it appropriate for a school event while maintaining some of the edge that the students wanted. But I was able to find that balance, and the party was a hit.

1. How did you get interested in party planning?
Well it just runs in the family my mum started the whole thing then it came to my sisters then my brothers and then me.
2. What is your favorite type of party to plan?
I just love weddings I love Indian Weddings the most I decorate the place with magnificent colours such as pink and yellow.

Jack Tyler's CV

Name: Jack Tyler
Place of Employment: Wild Boys Event Planning
Current Position: I co-own the company with my brother Jeremy, I'm vice president and in charge of the bachelor party planning.
Short Bio: I'm an 27 year-old guy who shares an apartment in Copenhagen with my brother and business partner Jeremy. I'm very much into painting and photography and I have a boarder collie named Nic Nac!

1. How did you get interested in party planning?
Well, I've always been very interested in those big Hollywood events and every time they'd show a "Behind-the-scenes" of one of those events you'd find me practically glued to the TV. My big dream is to one day maybe participate in the planning of one of those big events.

2. What is your favorite type of party to plan?
My favourite is the definitely the bachelor/bachelorette parties. They are so much fun and there's a thousand things that you can do when planning such a party. I remember this one party where the groom-to-be's friends came in and wanted me to arrange for their friend to be in a beauty pageant and doing some bungy jumping afterwards. He was a little reluctant to go on the scene wearing a dress but he was talked into it and the party afterwards was just a blast and he admitted that he was having a very good time, despite the beauty pageant event. My brother and I was even invited to his wedding!

3. Tell us about your worst experience as a party planner.
Before my brother and I started our own business I worked for a company called Chill Grill Inc who were planning all sorts of parties. I had to plan a sweet 16 party for a rich and spoiled brat. She was really demanding and yelled at every body. The band that we had hired, this hip new band called The Flying Saucers, didn't show up and when I told her she just ran amok and destroyed all the food and the decorations. When the guest got upset and left she blamed me and poured a drink on my head.

4. Tell us about your best experience as a party planner.
Even though the bachelor party I talked about earlier was good, the best experience I've had as a party planner was planning my little sister Keely's wedding. My brother and I completely spoiled her and she loved it. We practically covered the entire church in roses and lillies, her favourite flowers, and at the reception afterwards we had arranged for a surprise for her. We had booked a honeymoon for her and her husband in Hawaii and she was just so happy. I love my little sister very much and wanted to make it the best day in her life!

You are hereby invited to plan
The 6th Birthday party of
Timmy Timmerson on Sunday,
July 15th at 2:00 in the afternoon

"Welcome to your first assignment! I am George Tibideau, your potential boss, and I will be explaining your first mission. Most of you have heard the phrase "terrible two's"? Well Timmy Timmerson is a terrible two, three, four and five! Now Timmy is celebrating his sixth birthday, and his parents have hired you to plan and throw his party. Sounds a little nerve-wracking now? Just you wait!

Timmy has grown up in a pretty wealthy home, but more importantly his parents never EVER say "no." Timmy has always gotten everything he has ever wanted, which has turned him into the most greedy little dictator ever to step on the playground. His parents decide to hire a party planner (i.e. you) to plan out their son's 6th birthday party. Hopefully everything will go how Timmy wants it to go...

WRONG! When the clown comes walking in the backyard, Timmy throws a tantrum. He claims that the clown is too scary and doesnt have orange hair like he wanted. In the midst of Timmy's tantrum, his flailing arms knock the cake off the table, which splats all over the well-manicured lawn. Timmy notices this, stomps on your foot and runs inside to sulk in his bedroom. You turn, with your mouth wide open in shock at everything that just happened, to meet the livid stares of Timmy's parents. They are furious at you that the party didnt go as planned and demand that you do something to fix what Timmy has done.

What do you do?"

Round 1 Information:

Take us through the aftermath of some instances of Timmy's Birthday party disaster and illustrate how you fixed some situations. Please choose from the list below or add some in yourself:

1. Clown doesnt have orange hair
2. Birthday cake falls in the grass
3. Timmy stomps on your foot
4. Timmy sulks in his bedroom

3 (three) Pictures taking us through how you fixed the disasterous events of this round.

1 Picture of your Sim returning home to relax after a stressful day

Round 1 is due Saturday, November 10th @ 9pm US Central Time

6th Nov 2007, 7:39 PM
whoa! sounds like fun boolprop
so do we have to choose which scenario then take pictures? or take a picture of the scenario then the extra three?? Sorry I must sound like a complete idiot :dumbfunny

6th Nov 2007, 8:10 PM
This looks challenging.
Do you want 3 pictures of each scenario, or 1 picture for 3 chosen scenarios?
Sorry, this is my first contest, so I'm still trying to figure out how everything works.

6th Nov 2007, 8:26 PM
There are a couple scenarios that were already mentioned (ex orange clown hair, cake falling, etc). So you can either choose three of those or make three of your own or pick and choose between the existing ones and your own and submit one picture per scenario. So three pictures and three scenarios, one picture per scenario. And the picture should be the OUTCOME of the scanario, in other words how you fixed something going wrong.

Is that a little more clear?

6th Nov 2007, 8:32 PM
Perfectly clear. Thanks!

6th Nov 2007, 8:39 PM
thank you boolprop :thumb:
I'll be back in a couple days :devil2:

6th Nov 2007, 8:40 PM
Thanks, bP!

Question, though: Is it possible that I could use two of the scenarios for photos and then have one photo of the party after things were solved? If not, I'll just do three scenarios, but I was just curious.

6th Nov 2007, 9:17 PM
Stupid question but do I actually have to make a Timmy?

6th Nov 2007, 9:30 PM

No, just stick to the three scenarios please.

Stupid question but do I actually have to make a Timmy?
No, you dont have to. But you can if you would like.

Getting Timmy out of his Room
How do you get a spoiled kid out of a sulk? Give 'em gifts, of course! Taylor quickly ran for one of the many presents and leant outside his room door, telling him about the gift. Immediately the boy poked his head out and tore the wrapping paper open.

Sorting out the Cake
Luckily three years of Home Ec has come in handy, because through fast thinking Taylor decided on a group efforted cake. Out came the milk, flour and eggs; it was time for a messy, edible project!

Dirty, patchy and most of all ginger hair-less, Timmy was not happy with his second rate clown! Taylor sped to the costume store and thankfully found an orange wig, a clown outfit and some bendable balloons. Thank goodness she's not scared of clowns!

((That last photo scared the heck out of me because I am actually coulrophobic!))

Bonus - It's Couch Potato Time!

Scenario #4: When Timmy ran up to his room to sulk, Frankie gathered his guests and they brought Timmy's presents up to his room to cheer him up.

Scenario #2: With the gorgeous professional birthday cake splattered all over the lawn, Frankie decided the best way to keep everyone happy was to bake cupcakes, so each of the guests could decorate their own.

My own scenario: Timmy started an argument with one of his guests over a party game the children were playing. Just before things devolved into a fist-fight, Frankie distracted all of the children by calling out that it was "Piñata Time!"

Bonus: After a stressful day Frankie returns home to a hot shower.

Happy Birthday, Terrible Timmy
OMG What a nightmare!
Everything that could go wrong went wrong at this party. To start with the caterer was a no show, so I used my quick thinking and prepared a fantastic feast for all of Timmy's friends and family........jelly and ice cream always goes down well at a 6 year olds Birthday :spin:

Everything was sort of running smoothly until Pudgsy the Clown turned up. Timmy said he wasn't right since he had a rainbow wig on, so I took the clown aside and sprayed his wig with orange hair dye!

We were nearly at the end of the party and Timmy was unwrapping his gifts. He throw a tamtrum because he didn't receive his Playstation 3 he'd been demanding for. So he ran into the house and curled up in the living room. I followed him in, since his parents were distraught about how badly the party was going to take much notice. I talked to him like an adult and had a gift of my own to give him. He seemed to calm down and came back to the party.

I got home really late and just collapsed of the sofa. Another successful (in the end) party. What do I have in store next???

8th Nov 2007, 10:22 PM
Everyone's Round 1 entries look great so far! I love the creativity :)

8th Nov 2007, 11:04 PM
After extricating the remains of the expensive cake from the Thompsons' perfectly manicured lawn, I scoured the kitchen for the materials to bake a slightly less splendid cake. And to think my mother said that the home economics class I took in my freshman year of high school wouldn't pay off!

I phoned my fiancee, Austin, soon after the catastrophe and unloaded my stress on him. Quite unexpectedly, he offered to replace the hired clown (who was still missing in action) and arrived at the party. He donned the clown costume and I used what limited cosmetics I had in my purse to serve as make-up. The final effect wasn't nearly as flamboyant as the typical chalk-white face paint and red button nose, but I do think that the scarlet lipstick was a nice touch, despite how much he disliked it. Hey, he offered ;).

While Austin entertained the party-goers, I obtained Mrs. Thompson's permission to go upstairs and coax Timmy back to the party. When I entered his bedroom, I found him irately pummeling one of the pillows on his bed and sulking. I managed to tantalize him with talk of gifts yet to be opened and cake to be had; much to my relief, he finally returned to the party after no small amount of persuasion.

At the end of a long day, I often find that a relaxing bath soothes my troubles away. I certainly helped alleviate the stress of the traumatic birthday festivities.

9th Nov 2007, 5:34 AM
MY clown Showed Up two hours late and of course when she did, something ELSE had to be wrong. The little brat decided in a whim that he wanted her to have Orange hair! So me being the perfect little party planner hopped on down to wal - mart and got some orange Manic Panic. Viola! Oranged Haired Clown!

Well then He didnt get exactly what he wanted for his birthday, so he ruined his cake and stomped on my Foot! He stomped on it so hard I couldnt put any weight on it without screaming in pain.

For a quick fix for my toe I had my assistant grab the wheelchair that I had in my trunk from my car accident.

The cake was a bit harder to remedy. The parents dont cook at all so there was nothing to make instead, but I found a large tub of chocolate Ice Cream tucked away behind a Hungry Man in thier freezer. The Children were happy and I also found some Ice for my toes.

After that whole horrid experience I decided to calm down by cuddling with my kitten.

I don't get a warning for posting more than four pics here do I...? I NEED TO SHOW OFF MY PARTY XD.

P.S. Those Are Links They Don't Count As Pictures. And The Directions Didn't Say "No More Than 3" Plus 1 Pic of the "Relief" (So To Speak.) ;)

When I Came to The Party This Is What I Saw First. I Said to Myself "Oh that's Just Kid Stuff, It'll be Over Soon" and boy was I WRONG. Today I Had Experienced The Most Offbeat Day In My Working Career. But I Managed to do some Damage Control.

Assignment 1 - Clown Hair Isn't Orange:

I Can't Believe it, "Booby the Clown" (XD) Arrived Late, and WITHOUT hair at all either. Luckily I Had Backups (I Always Have A Backup Plan when It comes to parties.) I Said to Her... "Look the kid loves clowns who have red hair and you have none, but I have some wigs in the trunk of my van, you'd look perfect in one."

http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/6646/snapshot343f8c40b440b94hs3.jpg (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1174)
As A Result She LOVED IT! I told 'er "Well I have a bunch of these, if you want it you can keep it." I Showed Her To Her Spot and Timmy Absolutely ADORED THE CLOWN, he came up to me and said "Hewah [her] hayah[hair] is funneh[funny] loken[looking.]" and I giggled to myself. Then He Said "I Like it" I was relieved.

Assignment 3 - Little Timmy Stomping on My Foot (AND MORE):

That Timmy, I Thought He Was Going to Be Hunky Dory About Everything now. Again I didn't know what I was dealing with. He's Like "LADY THE CLOWN's BORING NOW, I WANNA DO SOMETHING ELSE!" He Stomped on My Foot and Pushed Me into the Carousel! That was the "ride" of my life.

http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/8587/snapshot343f8c403440ceetj2.jpg (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1174)
Well, I Forgave Him For What He did to me, and I told him "Well Timmy, I Have a Moonbounce in the back of my van, now if you give me a few minutes to set it up, you can jump in it ALL YOU WANT." He said "WELL HURRY UP LADY I AIN'T GOT ALL DAY." what a rude child I thought, but I said to myself "Just a Few More Hours... Just a Few More Hours..." He was a hoppin and jumpin in that moonbounce for an hour or so, then he got hungry. And we all had a great BBQ dinner, until...

Assignment 4 - Getting Timmy To Stop Crying and Outta His Room.:

http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/420/snapshot343f8c401440c59vo4.jpg (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1174)
It Was Time For Ice Cream, So I was Having a Conversation with Mrs. Soto (Timmerson) about Timmy and School. It seems that he goes to Bluewater Elementary and Has Problems Making Friends. And Unfortunately Timmy's Smart too and overheard us... So He Ran up to his room. So we had to come up with a plan to make Timothy happy again. Now Here's the Fun Part, He Kept Sobbing uncontrolably and Luisa, the Clown, and Sharla Ottomas went upstairs with me to help, Pablo (The Father) was too busy doing his own thing (How Pathetic In My Opinion.) He Locked Himself in his Room, and We Came Up with all of these presents. Luisa had experienced this with him before, but she works as an Instructor at the Local Dojo. SHE KICKED DOWN THE DOOR AND WENT "TADA!" (IN STILETTO HEALS TOO) Everyone Was
laughing uncontrolably, EVEN TIMMY he laughed the longest out of all of us. He got Presents from Me, The Clown, and Luisa, and Sharla his ONLY friend gave him the biggest one of all, A Bigfoot, and a Blue ballon with sparkly stars on it. That was tough getting it up a flight of stairs. Then Timmy said to his mom "WELL MOMMY TAHT[that] WAS FUHNEE[funny] *ihahaha* Can We Go Dancin in the Yahd [yard]?" I Guess You Could Say "This wasn't worth it" but in my opinion IT WAS Timmy has taught me about the most fun thing in party planning "BRATTY KIDS" no matter what age they are.

After Coming Home from something so DEMANDING like Timmy's Party I Perform Some Tai Chi before bed to calm me down.

9th Nov 2007, 11:54 PM
Little Timmy Timmerson's Sixth Birthday Party!

At first I thought this job would be the easiest one I've ever done but boy was I wrong! It turned out to be a total disaster with flying cakes and upset kids crying all over the place. But as the professional party planner I am, I'm giving a 100 % at each party and my aim is to please the customer whatever it takes.

I had hired a clown as per request of Timmy but he was a no-show. He called me at five minutes to showtime and said that he had to cancel. So I quickly ran down to the nearest costume shop to rent a clown costume but their did not have any. Lucky me. Instead I rented this cool pirate costume and guess what, Timmy and the other kids loved it. Timmy even said with his cute little voice that "pirats 're reaalllyy koool!".
I did a freeze dance contest with the kids as a replacement of the clown show, and judging by the look of their happy faces, they loved every minute of it!

The next disaster was a little easier to cope with but none the less challenging! Timmy wanted to have a pinata for his party but the one I'd ordered had arrived damaged. So instead I built a little bonfire in the back yard, with permission from the parents of course, and gathered all the boys around it and read them some really scary ghost stories.

After little Timmy's temper tantrum and elaborate body language where the customized birthday cake with little cars all over it got smashed, I decided to gather all the boys in the kitchen so that we all could make a cake together. I mixed the ingredients and the boys decorated the cake. We made such a good team, that we decided to make two cakes instead of just one! We also discussed the new movie with Spider-Sim, he's apparently a big hit with little boys now a days!

After a long and exhausting, yet fun day at the Timmerson household it was nice to finally relax at home on the couch.
That night I promised myself never to do another children's birthday party ever again!

10th Nov 2007, 8:42 PM

Heather Lewis- Round 1

1. Timmy sulks in his bedroom
Resolution: It was no use. The kid wasn’t gonna come out of his room even if the house was on fire. Well, two can play that game. I hair-clipped the locked door open and found Timmy sulking on his bed. It wasn’t easy getting him out of his room. He is one stubborn kid. But I promised him the best party ever, a new cake, and a great lunch… and when he didn’t behave, I gave the kid five bucks, and he got outside so fast, I don’t even remember seeing him.

2.Birthday cake falls in the grass
Resolution: To make matters worse, not only was there a burnt lunch, but the cake decided it wanted to ruin my day too. Timmy’s parents were getting impatient, not to mention Timmy throwing a temper tantrum. I had to think fast! And then I remember the brownies that I bought for a quick lunch the other day. Sure they were a little old after being in my car for how long…but….
“Brownie decorating contest!” I shouted. “Winner gets this bag of candy!” Timmy and his friends rushed over to compete in making the best looking brownie, and afterwards, they ate until their tummies couldn’t take it anymore

3.One incident of my own
Okay, so the kids found out that I lied about the bag of candy, and this time I had not tricks up my sleeve (or in my car)… Timmy's tantrum this time was louder than the one before. I never knew a boy could scream so loud. The kid was ripping down decorations and popping balloons, until I brought up the idea of a water balloon fight. I planted one right in the back of Timmy’s head, and he looked rather peeved, until he discovered that he could get me back.

After a hard day, my friend Ian made me relax with his one of a kind backrubs.

This is cutting it rather close. I've never typed so fast in my life.

YES! 1 More Judge or is That 3? Do Emergency Judges Congregate With Judges and the Host if there are Judges Scoring? (Does That Question Make Sense at All?) I'm an EJ in 2 Contests So This Would also Be Good To Know.

Emergency judges are only called upon if a regular judge failed to sumbit their scores on time. Sometimes a host will PM all judges (including emergency judges) when it is time for the judging to start just so they have another set of scores in handy. :)

Are there Reasons Why We Got the Scores We Did?
Im not quite sure what you mean. Are you asking what contestants were scored on? If thats the case, all contestants were scored on Creativity (5 pts), Following Directions (5pts) and Overall Quality (10 pts), which will remain the scoring structure for all rounds.

12th Nov 2007, 6:06 AM
Well Not Exactly, You Know How In Some Contests They Have a Commentary on What They Thought about each Contestant, The Highs and Lows of their Task. All that Jazz.

"Congratulations on making it through to your second assignment! Timmy sure was the little handful, no? This time you will be planning a Bachelor Party for a young man ready to be married three days after his last "hurrah." There are a few twists to this party as well...

Mr. Bachelor is one of the most rational, level-headed, smart and kindhearted fellow this end of town. In fact, he has been to church every Sunday since he was a youngster and has never come across the wrong side of the law. His fiancee was more than thrilled to learn that her soon-to-be hubby is planning on having a calm and CLEAN Bachelor Party. Can you do it?"

Although there wont be any horrible disasters to clean up after, but you will have to throw a party without the strippers, gallons of beer and all the other sordid activities most Bachelor Parties have at them, all the while making it "cool" enough for the new groom and his best buds. What will you do? A theme? An adventure? A night at home?

Round 2 Information:

Take us through your "clean" Bachelor Party, and include 3 highlights from the night's activities. Remember! There should be no strippers, bars, alcohol, wild partying or any other type of sordid behavior that usually goes along with most Bachelor Parties.

Yes, she is.

This challenge was a breeze for me. With my strict Christian upbringing, I knew just how to handle these guys.

I found this gorgeous old fashioned gentlemans club that was able to be rented out. Knate really loved it so we decided to go for it.

They started off with a really amazing looking Lobster dinner. It was cooked to perfection (perks of being a planner you have to "sample" the meals) and the men really loved it.

I surprised them by bringing in Knates favorite pianist. He was so excited.

The guys wound down the night by playing Poker and Gin Rummy.

Knate and Milla are big outdoor enthusiasts so they took a walk in the woods to relax and clear thier heads.

13th Nov 2007, 12:23 AM
I tried my best to work around Sutton's (the groom) wishes for a tame, age-appropriate party, and therefore came up with the idea of a weekend getaway into the woods for Sutton and his four closest friends. The idea went over well and the five backpacked into what's left of New York's once abundant wilderness for a testosterone-laden weekend of chaste, clean fun. The weekend started with a traditional log roll, which Sutton lost. He took it in stride, however, and it did nothing to dampen their weekend.

However, the true fun didn't start until night fell. The guys spent much of the evening and into the night huddled around a campfire roasting marshmallows and discussing the trials and tribulations of their lives. More than a few ghost stories were exchanged in addition to numerous over-toasted marshmallows and burnt fingers.

Boys will definitely be boys! When they finally huddled down into their tents, Sutton's mischievous brother Sam decided that the fun was about to begin. He pulled out all the stops to ensure that some of the most classic pranks (hand in water, shaving cream and feather, etc.) would go off without a hitch. Poor Sutton was the victim of many of these pranks due to Sam's zealous desire to humiliate him, but I truly don't think he minded.

The night before their wedding, Sutton related the events of the fun-filled camping trip to his bride-to-be, Rhianne, and cuddled with her in front of a movie. Their relaxing evening soon turned into one of romance, but it's not as though their change of plans was undesirable :).

Well, I did have a challenge with this party I had to organize. My first thought was, batchelor party with no alcohol, no wild antics, no strippers hmmm......thats not a batchelor party at all. But he is my client and I was going to give it my all.
I decided a manly weekend camping in the mountains. I organize lots of fun and games for these guys.
One of the favourites was the axe throwing

After all of the games and what not I organize a small private concert for the guys. It was held in a near by cabin, performing was Jazz singer Dianne Clark.
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd243/heidi_aston/singer2.jpg It was wonderful and the boys really enjoyed themselves. In this cabin I also organized for the boys to eat a HUGE meal of steak and chips (fries) and sip alcohol free cocktails.

Well they came back from the gig happy and chatty. They weren't ready to hit the sack just yet. So they started so they gather some wood and marshmellows and started a small camp fire.

Our batchelor had a blast and thank me over and over for a wicked party, the only thing that was missing was is beloved wife to be. He missed her so much.
He got home and cuddled up with her on the sofa and told her everything.

Highlight One
Taylor's party was themed as a luau, which is a traditional Hawaiian celebration. Soft lighting and yummy food was the key! Plus it was perfect weather and the stars were in display. Her favourite caterer fired up the barbeque and makes some mouth-watering ribs with a delicious sauce. The boys loved 'em and so did Taylor. They made some good coversation about the world of today and how beautiful the wedding is going to be in a few days time.
http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/6011/photo1qo0.th.jpg (http://img134.imageshack.us/my.php?image=photo1qo0.jpg) (Click)
Highlight Two
With Taylor as a DJ, funky beats and one awesome housemix could be heard three blocks down! The guys really enjoyed loosening up (well, slightly) and beamed smiles the whole time. Taylor enjoyed herself too, which is a win-win situation.
http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/78/photo2lh2.th.jpg (http://img209.imageshack.us/my.php?image=photo2lh2.jpg) (Click)
Highlight Three
After they were a little worn out from bopping their heads, Taylor threw a kickball out to the bachelor and cleared away the tables. The boys immediately started showing off their skills and were kicking it back and forth before you could say, "go!" It was agreed by all the boys that it was good to unwind and play their favourite College games.

Bonus Picture
The bachelor organised a pizza and a bottle of pink lemonade through me for a picnic basket for the day before the wedding so that he could spend some time with his wife-to-be. They went to the most picturesque spot in the neighbourhood and just gazed into each others eyes.

Highlight 1: The party started with a delicious dinner at the Groom's favorite restaurant.

Highlight 2: After dinner, everyone went bowling at the alley they used to hang out in when they were teenagers.

Highlight 3: When they finished bowling, they all went to the beach for a bonfire.

The Happy Couple returned to the beach the next day.

Deacon's Bachelor Party

When Deacon's friends came to me and asked for help to plan their friend's clean bachelor party, I knew instantly where I wanted to take them. They had informed me that money was no issue and that they were looking for something fun for all four of them to do.

I whisked them away to the tropical resort called Pirate Cove where they would indulge in a variety of activities and the best part about it was that they got dressed up as pirate lords from all around the world when they arrived.

The first night the guys just checked the place out and relaxed over a friendly game of poker. Here Deacon's friend Ray got to show off his card tricks!

Poker alone isn't gonna make a weekend at Pirate Cove fun so they had arranged for the groom-to-be to record a song for his future wife Amanda. They all had a blast in the studio, dancing around while Deacon was trying his best at hitting the right tunes!

The next day the all were sent on a scavenger hunt to test their knowledge of the pirate world, the pirate codex and, of course the different pirate lords. They managed to find the buried treasure of chocolate coins after about and hour worth of digging holes on the beach. It was great fun though and they had a real blast!

After this fun weekend with his three best buds, Deacon couldn't wait to get home to his beloved Amanda. He missed her terribly and had me arrange for her to meet him at the local beach where he had proposed to her. Here they just relaxed and enjoyed each other and the view of the beautiful ocean. Later in the evening they brought out a small barbecue and grilled some hot dogs right there on the beach.

Now, Since I'm Also a Caterer I Decided To Take This To My Advantage. Now, Mr. Bachelor told me he was short on money and told me he can't have anything big, because of his tight budget. I suggested to do something at home. I asked my friend Lauren from Innovative Solutions To Help me out with this. She Obliged and Said She'd help. That afternoon, Mr. Bachelor said that he would like to give his guests a nice dinner buffet for himself and his friends, but it'd have to be cheap. I told him that the turkey buffet is the cheapest on the catering menu. We decided to serve it to them since Lauren and I didn't know if they were a bunch of lazos, free of charge.

After dinner, the guys played cards While we cleaned up. Mr. Bachelor's friend Pete was showing off his little card tricks before the game started.

In the Meantime My Friend Luaren and I were wrapping up a surprise for him. We knew he was going to like it. It was something for the honeymoon ;) and man, was he thrown off. He chuckled, then that chuckle turned into laughter, and then soon the guests were laughing hysterically!

Bachelor Party…no strippers? No bars? No alcohol or wild partying? Well what kind of bachelor party was this, then? I braced myself for the challenge ahead. What kinds of things did men like to do, anyway? I decided the easiest route to take would be just an ordinary day out for men.

I planned a singles vs. married guys game of football for the first part of the Bachelor Party. I tried to stay as close to the side lines as possible, but I soon got tangled up and decided to join the game. Who knew guys could be so aggressive when there was no prize?

Men eat like pigs, especially after a day of playing football. I knew some people who knew people who were able to pull some strings and free up the pizza place for a few hours.

Honestly, I don’t see the fun in this. Men sit around the fire, get hot and sweaty, and talk about sports. Maybe it’s because I’m from the fast-paced city, but I’d rather go window shopping down Manhattan streets. But the Bachelor Party was running smoothly and I was glad that I was able to make it a success.

After a lot of wedding planning, and bachelor-partying, the bachelor and his soon-to-be wife were able to relax alone.

Weddings are like little celebrations of love. Two people standing up in front of their family and friends to pledge their lives to each other can seem very nerve-wracking at the same time as being one of the happiest times in that person's life. It takes special coordination and a steady hand to deal with all the issues that come along with planning a wedding.

Since you are a struggling party planner, there is a good chance you have never coordinated a wedding before. But maybe you weddings are your specialty and you have planned many over the years. Either way, this is your chance to take us through the most memorable wedding you have ever planned... or the only wedding you have ever planned in some cases.

Round 3 Information:

Show us the highs and lows of ONE of the weddings you have planned. Remember that you are competing with others to work for Mr. Tibideau, so its a great time to show off your planning skills, decorating skills, how you handle pressure, etc.

3 Pictures illustrating the wedding you planned

1 Picture of a wedding outtake (groom stuffing cake in his bride's mouth, a bride tripping on her dress while walking up the isle, the ring-bearer getting sick all over the rings, etc)

Round 3 is due Wednesday, November 21st @ 9pm US Central Time

18th Nov 2007, 7:39 AM
Taylor chose this wedding for her task because it was her cousin's and she had a blast planning it. It was set on a wooden bridge over a little lake, where flora was in abundance! She decided on a draping theme for the wedding, and this was the result.
Task One
Taylor's first highlight was the actual ceremony itself. Under a flower-topped arch with leaves trickling down, ribbon wrapped around the collums behind two creamy curtains, the area where they married had a LOT of flowers and plants. Plus it was Autumn, so Taylor decided that autumn leaves would be scattered across the isle instead of flowers to tone it down a little.
The next highlight was the reception, when the bride and groom had their first dance as husband and wife. Everyone sat down and listened to the band while those lovebirds got lost in eachothers eyes.
Once they finished swaying, they moved over to the beautifully decorated cake with little flowers on it and cut off a slice. Jack (the groom) fed his wife the first bit of cake; she loved it!

Task Two - Oops!
Taylor laughed out loud when she realised that two of the guests were wearing the same dress, as opposed to the girls' expressions. Taylor let one of the girls wear the spare bridesmaid dress.

Micheal and Angela's Wedding
I couldn't wait to get started! I have only shadowed a wedding planner so this was my first solo. I love this couple I have known them for many years so I felt really nervous because I didn't want to ruin they're perfect day.
The ceremony was beautiful, they both love roses so I thought designing the ceremony hall with a huge rose archway and roses climbing up the walls would be a nice touch. I didn't want to make this wedding to over the top so simplicity was the key.
(theres me in the front ^_^)

I decided a nice warm yellow would be gorgeous for the dinning hall. I obviously had crisp white tablecloths and chairs. I also dressed the table with tiny tea lights with a rose in a small glass. It was so inviting. For starters I organized them to have delicious rare vegetable soup. Because there was a lot of males there that day I thought roast beef was the perfect meal and then yummy strawberries and cream for afters. It went swimmingly.

After a few bottles of pink champaign later we had a small disco I had a DJ booth so we could have requests. Everyone was up for a little dancing, even the brides father lol! A lot of alcohol was consumed that evening but fortunately they was no fights or any nastiness.

To finish the evening off we all stood and watch the happy couple drive off into the night and spend (hopefully) the rest of their lives together, maybe one day in the near future I might plan their first child's birthday.......if they nothing like little Timmy of course :spin:

18th Nov 2007, 4:55 PM
Thanks everyone who said good bye. I haven't checked the thread in a couple of days. :)

18th Nov 2007, 6:57 PM
The wedding of Jacob Salpeter and Isabelle Espinoza might very well have been one of the most beautiful events I've ever planned. Per the couple's request, the ceremony was held on a tropical beach, as was the reception. The events began with a lovely, touching union so close to the water that the high tide ruined the rose petal path to the altar after the festivities, but it was a beautiful ceremony nonetheless.

Shortly after the cake was served and the newlyweds shared their traditional first dance as husband and wife, the stereo was switched to salsa and the guests, as well as the bride and groom, began to get down on the dance floor. The newlyweds' parents were quite shocked at some of the promiscuous dance moves their children displayed, as well :).

After the guests departed, Jacob and Isabelle were left to their own devices. The flight to their honeymoon in the Swiss Alps was not set to leave for a few more hours, so they enjoyed the last of their wedding by swaying on the since-vacated dance floor by the light of the torches.

Earlier in the wedding, Jacob was forced to leave for a short time and clean up when Isabelle smashed a forkful of sponge cake into his face. The party was nonetheless enjoyable despite the replacement of Jacob's distinct cologne with a noticeable odor of orange cake.

[[Kennedy Paige && Logan Wallace's Wedding]]

I couldn’t help but get excited when I found out our next task was to plan a wedding party. Although weddings are never easy, I’ve had past experiences that have helped me prepare for this one.

The atmosphere was tense, and I really began to feel the pressure in the last few minutes before the bride’s appearance. I left the room for half an hour with my water bottle and took a seat in a corner. I always became very tight and nervous before the wedding, and I just needed to take a breather and be alone. When I returned, all of the bride’s maids and I hovered around Kennedy, trying to fix her hair, makeup, dress, and just about everything to make her day special.

I’d finally taken a seat and a deep breath. Decorations were in place, each ribbon, each flower, set in its position of perfection, and the ceremony had begun. All of the planning paid off when Logan Wallace and Kennedy Paige were at the center of attention. All eyes were on the couple, as they pledged their lives to each other in front of all the people they’d shared their lives with. I began to get restless in my seat, and I couldn’t hold back the tears.

Kennedy's first dance as a married woman was with her father, George Paige. The room was awfully still and quiet, not only because this was a no-kids wedding, but also because everyone understood what a special moment this was for kennedy and her father. I guess it was hard for a dad to give his daughter away to someone else...

Alas, the cake cutting began. I came to the center of the crowd with the knife in hand, and allowed the bride and groom to cut the cake together. My stomach was talking to me, so I was exceptionally pleased when the couple awarded me the second piece of cake for all of my hard work. Kennedy stuffed the cake into Logan’s mouth and cameras snapped to capture the adorable moment. Afterwards, both the bride and groom’s parents held a toast to new beginnings. CHEERS!

Looking good so far everyone. Just a little reminder, there is about 29 hours from this post to get your Round 3 entries in.

21st Nov 2007, 3:28 AM
The couple wanted a small nighttime wedding outdoors. Frankie found a lovely setting on a terrace overlooking the ocean. Here they are reciting their vows:

The specially designed wedding cake topper was shattered in transit. Frankie took some of the flowers from the decorations and used them to decorate the cake. None of the guests knew what had happened and the Bride and Groom didn't realize the cake topper was missing until after the reception. Here is the happy couple posing for pictures before cutting the cake:

The Bride posed for pictures with her best friend/Maid of Honor and her Bridesmaid/new step-daughter. The photographer canceled at the last minute, but luckily Frankie was able to get some good pictures for the Wedding Album:

Frankie caught the Maid of Honor and the Best Man making out in the ladies' room:

Ray and Callie Cross' Wedding

My favourite wedding must have been the Cross' wedding. Ray Cross is a really good friend of mine and we go all the way back to high school. When his fiancé called me to help her plan their soon-to-be wedding I immediately jumped at the opportunity. They wanted to have a mixture between a regular wedding and a more untraditional wedding. Callie, Ray's fiancé always wanted to wear a beautiful white dress whereas Ray wanted a more casual wedding where the main focus were to have a good time with family and friends. "So what is more them than a formal-beach-casual-pool-party!" I thought. When I told them about my idea, they immediately loved it and here's how their party went.

They had their wedding at a beach, right down to the water. It was a really beautiful day, warm and sunny, the perfect day for a wedding. The ceremony was really beautiful and I caught myself with tears in my eyes a few times. One of my best friends is getting married!

Ray really loves cake, and he had a blast when they were sampling the different cakes in order to choose the perfect one for their wedding. They ended up with a strawberry chocolate cake with white frosting.. Mmm, mmm, mmm!

The invitations read that the guest should bring some swimwear because Ray and Callie wanted a relaxed atmosphere for the party afterwards. There was a pool outside at the hotel where the party was thrown and the happy couple and their guest found good use of it. I snapped this shot of the happy couple and some guest having fun by and in the pool.

The wedding was really close to be called completely off because the bride Callie collapsed just 30 minutes before the big event! She hadn't been drinking or eating anything for the whole day and that mixed with anxiety and nervousness caused one collapsed bride. Luckily I had taken a first aid course a couple of months before, so I told the brides maids to get some cold water and a little bit of food for the bride and gently tried to wake her. Fortunately she was feeling better after she'd got some food and water into her stomach and was able to proceed with the wedding!

Whether your Christmas Day includes getting together with family, partying with friends, spending your morning at church, exchanging gifts or all the above, Christmas is a magical time for most people. But everyone has their own idea of the perfect Christmas.

For your final project is to host a rockin' Christmas Day party for the family or group of friends of your choice. You can choose whether you want to host a Christmas party for a family (parents, kids, grandparents, etc) or just a group of friends. Please include the following information in your entry:

1. What is the most important thing you learned through planning these 4 parties?
2. What was your favorite party to plan?
3. Tell us a little about your highs and lows in planning these parties and let us know how interested you still are in becoming the senior party planner for PLAR.

3 Pictures illustrating the Christmas Party you planned
1 Picture collage including at least one picture from each round. This will serve as a sort of "portfolio" which you will be turning in to your potential boss, Mr. Tibideau.

Round 4 is due Wednesday, November 28th @ 9pm US Central Time

24th Nov 2007, 2:02 AM
Meh, it doesn't hurt too much to get eliminated. I'm hosting a contest on another forum so now I've freed up a little time now. Good luck everyone else!

24th Nov 2007, 9:50 AM
It was tough to eliminate this round, and the scores were SO close as you all can see. But everyone who has been in the competition thus far has done a wonderful job. You should be very proud!

Now onto out Top Three to battle to the death! Ok well, not the death... but at least to spot #1 and senior party planner. Good luck! :D

25th Nov 2007, 8:09 PM

1. Through planning these four parties, I learned many things that I think will be beneficial to my career even if I don't get the position with Mr. Tibideau. However, one of the most important lessons I learned was to loosen up; it's unconceivable that any party will go off without a hitch, and I've finally learned to accept that, no matter how I try, things are going to get screwed up. I've also come to recognize that sometimes the spontaneous things that occur at my parties are the best part.

2. Though it may sound cliche due to the fact that I am indeed a wedding planner, I really enjoyed planning the beach wedding. Weddings aren't only my speciality, but they offer the most flexibility for me as a party planner, not to mention that I always enjoy seeing the happy couple be united.

3. Every party was a high, for me- there's something about seeing people come together to celebrate that never fails to warm my heart. However, dealing with the stressful situation at Timmy's birthday party and roughing it in the wild to plan the bachelor party was a bit difficult. All in all, however, this opportunity has been a wonderful experience and I sincerely anticipate Mr. Tibideau's decision. Even if I am not offered the position (though I sincerely hope I am), I've gained numerous skills I didn't have before and this internship will at least look nice on my resume :).

Round Four Photos:

I was asked to plan a holiday party for a group of fraternity brothers and their wives, all of whom had graduated five years ago and wanted to get together in order to catch up. The party was thrown at Cale's, the senior frat brother, and the night began with a decadent turkey dinner prepared by a skilled chef at a nearby restaurant.

After dinner, the guests commenced to move into the parlor and discuss old times before the roaring fire. Memories of campus pranks and late-night studying for finals were brought up as well as gifts being exchanged.

I had arranged a special disc of holiday music I personally selected, so the party-goers quickly put it into the stereo and began to festively get down. Mistletoe was later added over an archway, resulting in some very interesting relations between married men and women.

As requested, I've composed a portfolio of my work to further assist Mr. Tibideau in his choice for the position. I sincerely hope I will be considered, and if I am not chosen, at least I will come away with valuable skills and life lessons.

25th Nov 2007, 10:26 PM
1. What is the most important thing you learned through planning these 4 parties?
Well, I learned a lot of different things at every party but I must say that the most important thing was that it is okay that the party doesn't always go as planned. Take little Timmy's birthday party for example, it didn't go exactly as planned but it turned out great anyway. So in a way I learned that if you can fix a party gone bad you can fix anything.

2. What was your favorite party to plan?
My favourite party was actually Timmy's birthday. Even though I normally do Bachelor parties, I've really grown fond of planning kids birthday parties. There's so many fun things you can plan for the kids and the biggest reward you can get is to see the kids smiles and hearing them laugh and laugh for hours on end. Kids are so thankful and they show it in the funniest and cutest ways.

3. Tell us a little about your highs and lows in planning these parties and let us know how interested you still are in becoming the senior party planner for PLAR.
It has been a really tough job, I must admit. It was very time consuming but rewarding in so many ways. I've gained valuable experience for future project and made some good friends along the way. I really enjoyed planning all these very different parties and I've, as I've mentioned earlier, gotten a new favourite party to plan, so this has really been an eye opener for me! I'm still very much interested in the Senior Party Planner opening because I see it as a great opportunity to refine my skills as a party planner and gain valuable experience in my field.

Christmas Eve at the Tyler Household
I don't want to show you some stranger's Christmas party as that would be too impersonal for me. So you're all invited to the annual Christmas Eve Party at the Tyler log cabin! You are to meet my entire family, my parents, my sister and her husband and kiddies, my brother and his girlfriend and me and my girlfriend and her young daughter.

We always celebrate Christmas at my parent's log cabin. I was in charge of planning the whole ordeal last year. I drove up to the cabin a few days early to decorate and put up Christmas lights and stock the fridge with goodies. Phew, it was a hard job to carry groceries for 12 people up those stairs!
Anyway, we usually decorate the tree together, it's an old family tradition. This photo was taken right after we finished decorating the tree.
As you can see it's hard to get everybody to stand/sit still for the camera!

There's always a lot of snow in the mountains so I organized a snowball fight for the whole family, but my nephew Aaron didn't want to participate and demonstrated his own free will by making a snowman right in the middle of the battle field. It's my parents who are watching from the deck!

Later in the evening my niece and nephew Aaron and Casey had changed into their PJ's and sat down on the couch to wait for Santa to arrive. They wanted to stay up all night just to catch a glimpse of him coming down the chimney to put presents in their Christmas stockings hanging from the mantel piece.
They waited for hours and hours. At 23:15 I started to feel sorry for the poor little ones and went to the attic to find that old Santa suit my dad used to dress up in to amuse me, Jeremy and Keely. I put it on and went downstairs into the living room to surprise Aaron and Casey but they had fallen asleep on the couches. It was such an adorable scene and I found this picture of it, that my sister had taken without me noticing.

I spend a great deal of time on assembling my portfolio that Mr. Tibideau had said that he wanted only to find out that my niece Casey had scribbled all over it! But I've decided to turn it in anyway, because I think that it adds a personal touch to the otherwise blank pages.

28th Nov 2007, 8:37 PM
1. What is the most important thing you learned through planning these 4 parties?
I really learned that when working with people to plan such important events as weddings and birthdays, one should really try to work everything out in detail. For example, it's not enough to know that they would like to hire a clown, when they have a specific type of clown with a specific hairstyle in mind. I also learned that oftentimes things aren't going to happen perfectly as planned. In those situations it's important to think on your feet and work quickly to find a way to resolve any problems before they become disasters.
2. What was your favorite party to plan?
I really enjoyed planning the Thorn family Christmas party. Adele Thorn's home is absolutely beautiful and it was a pleasure to decorate.
3. Tell us a little about your highs and lows in planning these parties and let us know how interested you still are in becoming the senior party planner for PLAR.
Thank you very much for this opportunity. I would be honored to be chosen as senior party planner for PLAR. Working on these parties has been a really great experience. Even Timmy's birthday party, in which almost nothing went as planned, provided me with a valuable education party planning.

Some Snapshots From the Thorn Family Christmas
It was a cold, snowy evening, but the inside of the house was warm and inviting.

The family had an excellent time singing Christmas carols around the grand piano.

The youngest member of the family was impressed by the decorations.
