Contest: House
Maxis-Makeover: Home Edition

A simple contest using only the Maxis Lots.

Do you think you can build? Now, can you remodel Maxis-style?
There are many contests about making homes from scratch or modding someones layouts, but this time we are going to make Maxis look good.
-+-

Rules:
-In the contest you are going to be given or select one Maxis lot per round.
-You are going to use only Maxis and/or Maxis-match objects to decorate.
-You can add rooms.
-Do NOT delete walls or take away from the original Maxis floorplan.
-You may convert bedrooms to kitchens, bathrooms to studies, pink lemonade to grilled cheese, etc.

Pictures:
There are a total of 6 pictures mandatory.
Part One- Maxis Lot/ Before shots.
This should be linked to (We rather see the new and improved than Maxis dung, but need to see that you are following rules).
Please leave all Maxis objects inside the building while you take layout shots.
Part Two- After Shots
4 to 6 pictures of remodeled rooms.
Bathrooms, and hallways do not count as rooms.
Other mandatory rules/restrictions will be noted.

Descriptions:
Your creativity should shine here.
Now that you have proved that you can remodel, can you show-off your house?
You must act as if you are trying to sell the home you just remodeled.

I think I'm going to join, but I have two questions: Do you want the house for the application furnished or not? And for the rounds, are those furnished or not?

PuX- 80's

daisii, Furnished like a model home.

clw8
10th Feb 2009, 4:26 AM
So for the application round, we just post a house we built all by ourselves?
If so, would it be acceptable for me to use the last house I posted up in the other house building contest; or do you prefer something new . . . in which case I hope to get something up by tomorrow night.

PuX- 80's
10th Feb 2009, 4:39 AM
I would like a new home.
I think it might be against the contest rules.

beeps
10th Feb 2009, 5:09 AM
As long as the house was built by your yourself, it isn't against forum rules. However, it's up to the discresion of the host whether previous houses (or Sims or whatever) can be recycled in new contests.

PuX- 80's
10th Feb 2009, 5:22 AM
Thanks for clearing that up beeps.
...Would the host you speak of be me or the other contest's host?

I will allow you to use a home you used in a contest before here.

I'm IN! (obviously :D).

Question, for the application am I able to enter a house I have made that is already up for download/been in pic threads or would you like a compleatly new one? (I haven't used it for a contest or anything but people have seen it before).

PuX- 80's
10th Feb 2009, 5:30 AM
beatdoc, You can use any home you've made that hasn't been in a contest. Thank you for joining :D

To offically answer clw8's question:
You can use a home from another contest as long as you ask the contest host first.

PuX- 80's

I will change/modify the rules.

Modified rule: You can't change the outside walls, but you can change the inside walls.

PS - I'm uploading this to my LJ later this week.

Edit - darn I'm full of questions, I know we can't remove existing external walls, but can we 'add' to them (like a second floor etc?).

Sorry, clw8, I just missed you
The kitchen looks like a mansion's kitchen, very rich looking.

It's all good. I was easily missed, as, since I had to erase what I did have typed, and use that post (since you hadn't yet posted when I started typing), and then we submitted our posts at about the same time, so, yeah, all good!
And, thanks for liking the kitchen. I must say, I tried something totally different with that house. It's not exactly my regular building style, though similar. IDK, got tired of what I usually build . . . same, ole, house. :(
Hope you didn't mind the 'fridge in front of the window, lol. I furnish with walls down, so, I forgot the window was there until taking the picture!

CiaoAlora, I love the outside and inside. It's so modern and I love the brick, excellent job!

All we need is three more and we are good to go.

I will post Round One hoping we get all 10 apps.

Round I

Oh, So Tacky

For this round you are going to have a choice to pick from the mobile homes in Belladonna Cove or the homes like Brandi Brooke's.
Remodel the home any way you would like (don't add a second story or make the layout bigger).

Pictures:
1 linked picture showing the Maxis layout (with objects orignally placed).
4-6 freeshots of your remodeled version.

Remember:
-Bathrooms and hallways are not rooms (at least not for this contest).
-Do NOT add a second story or make the layout bigger
-Only use Maxis and/or Maxis match objects to furnish the home. Using Non-maxis like objects will deduct you -1 point per each object.

Charley-x
14th Feb 2009, 12:51 AM
Pux, when you say maxis-match 'like'. Who will be deciding if it's maxis-match like, the jugdes or do we have to run it by you? :)
And do you/any other judges have all eps/sps to see if a certian object is from a sp/ep someone doesn't have. (I have all eps and all sp apart frm GL & CELE)
Great round & Goodluck to everbody, lets hope we get more apps!

PuX- 80's
14th Feb 2009, 12:57 AM
If the judges think that some objects are not Maxis-match then they minus a point.
If the judges are unsure, ask me and I will try and respond ASAP.

EPs: Uni, NL, OFB, Seasons, BV and FT
SPs: Teen. and H&M

clw8
14th Feb 2009, 12:58 AM
Am I understanding this round correct.
Ok, I have to choose a Brandi Broke house, as, I don't have the ep for the other thing.
All we do is remodel the inside, yeah? Theres no certain number of rooms or price we need to abide by?

Anywho, thanks for posting the first round. I was getting anxious!

beatdoc16
14th Feb 2009, 1:01 AM
Ok so I am assuming here that I am NOT allowed to use one of my pevious makeovers (because I have done both the broke house and those trailers, and uploaded them to my LJ). Also if we are to makeover those trailers in D. Valley do they all have to remain apartments as Maxis intended or can you change their function? (heck can you create a compleatly different lot type? *ponders*)

Come on people you know you want to apply!! :D

I.nfectious: I love it, it's pretty. I love how it looks so complex (lacking better word) but it's nice and simple on the inside.
angelf: It's very pretty on the outside, love it with the snow! The inside is fantastic too, so cute! I especially like the teen attic room.

Aww thanks puppyluver0811! I'll be popping that home up on my LJ either tonight or tomorrow whenever I can find the time.

PuX- 80's
14th Feb 2009, 2:30 AM
Yay more contestents!

seriouscookie, In the App. house only, is CC okay.
beatdoc, You already did the homes simular to Brandi's? What have you not done? :P
If you have a non-remodeled Brooke-like house then use that, if not, can you download?

clw8, You don't have to remodel Brandi Brooke's home (with the one-tile swimming pool) you can remodel the homes like her's (the homes around it).

Edit: Clw8,
No, the size of the lot does not matter, the price of the house does not matter, the smell, feel, and voice of the house does not matter.
All I'm looking for is, your use of Maxis.

PuX it's ok, realised those mobile homes were also in the apartments bin so I can do them again, or I might redownload brandi's depending on what I decide to do :D
Btw does the life stories etc stuff count as 'maxis match' or not?

Beatdoc, Yes, LS items also are Maxis.
I also forgot about your other question.
You don't have to keep homes as residental if you find them better as cabins in an exotic destination.

Thank you seriouscookie for joining.
Now just two more people.

Yay more contestents!

seriouscookie, In the App. house only, is CC okay.
beatdoc, You already did the homes simular to Brandi's? What have you not done? :P
If you have a non-remodeled Brooke-like house then use that, if not, can you download?

PuX- Thanks for pointing that out. I wish they used the desks too. Or at least put the homework on the correct side of the desk, which is the reason for the flowers on the desks.

Maxis recolours
Lost & Found Items
Extracted Life/Pet/Castaway Stories items
Any floor/wall/bedding

I made over one of the homes like the Brandi Broke one.
Here's a link to the what the original home looked like pre-makeover:
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_00000001_d6a1ef5b.jpg
And this is her now!:
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_00000001_b6a2c44f.jpg
This home is now a warm, family friendly environment. It once was dull and cold, and now features warm tones of brown and greens, with a hint of something extra in the bedrooms! There are still 2 bedrooms, however, the smallest one has been moved over, and I made it a little bit larger. The girls bedroom is perfect for a teenager, or, a child just alike. The master bed features stuff a little oriental, with bamboo floors, fans, beds, and more! The bathroom has been moved on the opposite side of the home, and the livingroom and kitchen swapped also.
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_00000001_16a2c49e.jpg

The backyard is to drool over, featuring a large pool complete with slide, divingboard, stairs, and lights. Don't forget the patio around the pool, or the swingset with (unusable/pool) slide.

http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_00000001_36a2c572.jpg

I've also redone the landscaping a bit, redone the front porch, and added a driveway.

Extra pictures:

Just noticed you said to include what CC I used.
I didn't intend on using any, however, I absent mindedly used a Ceiling Fan from here: (http://modthesims2.com/download.php?t=182325)
EDIT-Oh crap, I just remembered, that I also used CC windows. Darn, I really wanna slap myself now!
EDIT...AGAIN! - I forgot to mention, that I believe that those windows I used, where suppose to be recolors of the Open For Business windows i think (those ones that come in wild colors like red, yellow, white, black, etc... but not brown!) . . . but I'm not like 100% sure.
And that truly is the only CC I used. I had to restrain myself many a times, as I started to use a ton of CC!

PuX- 80's
14th Feb 2009, 5:45 PM
For us judges it would make it easier to judge the anti-CC portion if everyone just included a simple list (per bedroom) of the CC you used.
Thank you! :D

Angel f, If you would like to leave the gardens (front and back) the way Maxis did, then that's up to you.
It will not give you more points with a better garden and will not deduct you points for having a random tree and bush.

I chose one of the trailer type homes in Pleasantview.

40 Woodland Drive
§ 50.646

Original Maxis lay out (http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b307/Angelfrouk/snapshot_00000004_76a2cea5.jpg)

Originally a trailer home, it now looks a lot more permanent. The appearance of this home has gone from ragged and dirty to clean, modern and most of all homely.
This home has 2 bedrooms, both good sizes, and one adequate bathroom. The kitchen has enough workspace to store all your goodies and the livingroom... Don't get me started. It's a dream...

I meant to send in an ap way before now but I've been having a brain cramp on my other contest's enty and my internet connection has been on the fritz lately.
This is a house that I gutted out and only got half way redecorated by now. Sorry about the empty yard but I removed all the trees, etc, so I could see the house better while I redecorated. I think my Sims are going to like this house much better now than before they got the boot.

55 Woodland Drive

Freshly remodeled rural retreat

Part of the "Pleasantview's Edge Rural Renewal Project," 55 Woodland Drive was once one of several of Pleasantview's less pleasant homes. However, Simcity's top contractors have remodeled this home to the top specification, with minimal alterations to structure. What does this mean for you?
A cozy, beautiful home made with the best available materials!

http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/qq199/seriouscookie/fullviewcorner.jpg
front corner view

Quality brick facade and stonework skirting combine with elegant doors and windows for excellent curb appeal. Huge windows in the kitchen and dining area let in plenty of light. A fenced walkway surrounds the front third of the house, leading to a view of the beautiful backyard. Plenty of fresh air for everyone!

The large master bedroom includes a combination office/lounge, providing an extra place of retreat for today's busy parents.

Before I start in too far on Round 1, I just want to be assured that all the Maxis-Match stuff I downloaded awhile back in the "N99 Mega Pack" is okay to use. Most of it is recolors, or furniture made to match Maxis stuff. My real question is, the objects made to match, are they okay to use?
And my understanding is we can use any floors and walls -- cc and Maxis? But not other building items?

I shaking in my boots looking at the first round entries already submitted.

I just started working on redo-ing Brandi Broke's house. I moved out her and the brats without going into this lot EVER, so I had no idea what her house looked like before starting. So, of course, the game deletes all objects from within the house. I have pics taken of the empty ugly shell. I just want to know if it's okay if my pics are missing her household objects? If they were in there, yet, I'm guessing it would look just like the link pics that seriouscookie put in her entry since it is the same house.
I never even thought to take pics while Brandi still lived in it to get the objects. Just wanted her gone and to get to it without going in and out of the lot a few times.
Hope my pics are okay, and like I said before, seriouscookie's link with objects in her pic should be the same for mine as well. The rest of it is all the same, for sure.

That's all. Just a head's up.

Aww thanks again guys! kattenijin I'm sure whatever you come up with will be just wonderful!

Jenny - you can also redo one of the pleasantview trailers, i.e. Brandi Brokes or those 2 similar ones placed near it as well as the D.valley ones.

oh, okay..thanks Beatdoc!

Yes, I'm sorry.
The Mobile Homes in Belladonna or the Trailor-like homes in Pleasentview.

As long as I'm aware of what home (PM me) I can make sure you aren't dunced.

Okkkaay so here's where you call me stupid. I didn't even really take notice if the mobile homes were in Belladonna cove or D.valley (because they are in the houses bin and I just got them from there) I just assumed those were the ones PuX was talking about because I couldn't remember any other trailers. Sorry guys! Thanks PuX for making that ok!

It's not your fault Beatdoc.
I assumed that the Mobile Homes came from AL since I stopped at FT.

I'm expecting a few more Round Ones.
The remaining people have 21 hours left to complete RI.

200 Strawberry Hill
I chose to do a make-over of the trailer house in Riverblossom Hills. I think it is slightly smaller than the ones in Pleasantview so the room layout was nice and challenging. I wanted it to feel light and bright, since it originally had hideously dark wood paneling all throughout the interior. Despite the small size, the home now has a much more open flow, due to some interior structural changes and the new colors.

Thank you beatdoc! I didn't know it existed either until I went looking for the ones said to be in D. Valley... so when I didn't find them, I went looking in other neighborhoods until I found one to use. I'm loving your makeover too, it's so warm and cozy looking... and I'm loving your graphics too. :D

PuX-, that home is right on the edge of town, a corner lot near a water tower and a radio tower and surrounded by trees. It is filled with the race-car themed stuff that came with Seasons.

I'm just about to start my R1 entry but i'm not sure if the lot i've chosen is suitable. I've gone for the Teenage Turf 2BR 2BA lot, it's more of a double-wide type trailer and it was in the lot bin so i'm not sure where it came from. Would this be ok? If it's no ok i'll just use something else like 40 woodland drive

Woodlands Drive BEFORE (http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c251/romyhorse/more%20sim%20pics/mm0.jpg)

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c251/romyhorse/more%20sim%20pics/mm20.jpg

Welcome to Woodlands Drive, the perfect rural retirement location.

This property has recently been remodelled and it sure to be snapped up quick, so don't hang around.
The gardens are low maintenance and the exterior is very inviting.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c251/romyhorse/more%20sim%20pics/mm12.jpg

The spacious entrance hall allows access to all other rooms. As you can see, the colour palette
used is very natural and warm, giving the house a cosy feel.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c251/romyhorse/more%20sim%20pics/mm15.jpg

The entrance hall leads directly through to the open plan living area. Although the weather here
is quite mild, a wood-burning stove has been installed for those colder winter months.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c251/romyhorse/more%20sim%20pics/mm14.jpg

This is a large room with double aspect windows. There is ample room for a desk.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c251/romyhorse/more%20sim%20pics/mm13.jpg

And in the other corner, space for dining.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c251/romyhorse/more%20sim%20pics/mm17.jpg

The kitchen is bright and airy with views over the back garden. It is well-appointed with everything you could need.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c251/romyhorse/more%20sim%20pics/mm18.jpg

The bedroom is spacious, again with double aspect windows. There is plenty of room for clothes storage
and ample space for twin beds if that is preferred.

Welcome to Pleasantville where the people are more than pleasant -- they're Minnesota nice! When Jay Roennigke was appointed City Planner, the first thing on his agenda was some urban renewal for the town. Since neighbor Brandi Broke laughed at him the day he turned adult, you can bet her house was first on his list.

Link to house before redecorating: http://www.geocities.com/shake_deathrattle_and_roll/BrokenBrandiBitesBullets.html

Do your friends keep accusing you of looking at Simland through rose-colored glasses? Do you yearn for an age gone by? Well, this is the house for you! Take off those glasses, you won't need them anymore. Here's a charming, yet blush, bungalow that's vaguely Victorian. Inside and out, this pastel "palace" will have you feeling in the pink in no time a'tall.

That would be the only object that wasn't a Maxis-Match item.
Upper cabinets, coffee tables and end tables, dining room hutch, vanity in bedroom? (can't remember if it was a match item or recolor) either the rug in livingroom or under dining table is MM from N99 and I think the mirror over the mantel is a MM item, too, and a few Dot OMS's: all came from the N99 Maxis Match Mega Pack at the N99 site.
The OMS for the plant on top the fridge is JBenalt (sp) @MTS2
Anything else is a recolor. I believe I mentioned everything.

I put the GunMod into my game and am having a terrible time zero-ing on the shots I want to take despite the improved graphics with the mod. There are more pics if you'd like to see them at: http://s265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20Maxis-Made%20Contest/Round%201%20-%2055%20Woodland%20Ave/
It was really hard to get a good angle with some of the small spots in the bedrooms. The nursery was a bust for taking pics -- too small. The yard is done up, too, but I didn't include that since I think only the house counts for the contest.

I'm loving the great makeovers everyone is doing! I still need to look through the whole thread to find all the round 1 entries!

I haven't read all the posts so please ignore me if this has already been mentioned: is it just me or are the links inthe first post totally weird for everyone? The link for beatdoc's round 1 entry is actually for craiziidaisii's entry. The link for CiaoAlora's round 1 entry takes me to a YouTube music video. I thought she was being tricky and had entered a video but no - it's just a music video. Application round links for seriouscookie and Craiziidaisii are the same and there's probably other weirdness going on which I have failed to mention.

So is it just me or are the links actually wrong?

You're too tricky for me! And it's still taking me to that music video!

I wish I had come back home in time to join this contest. Looks like a lot of fun.

clw8: Love the yard! And the super-pink girly bedroom :) The main bedroom looks very cozy.

angel_f: OMG those walls! I have 100s of walls but I just had to grab those, too. And I love the rest of the house, too

seriouscookie: Lovely use of warm colours throughout.

craiziidaisii: The B&W kitchen with the splashes of colour deco is just great.

beatdoc: Love the cabins. Those mushrooms are just too cute! I must have them :)

CiaoAlora: Despite your trickiness I still managed to see the pictures :eviltongu I really like that you used the colour blue as a recurring theme through all the rooms. Really ties it all together. And I grabbed those rugs from S2S, too.

Romy: That house definitely makes me think of my grandmother :) Looks like a great little retirement pad.

Deatherella: OMG! So much pink! It looks really lovely, though. Warm.

Did I miss anyone? I hope I didn't.

I am really enjoying these other entries too. All of you do such inspiring work!
Deatherella, (almost OT but sort of related) I met a lady in Indiana who had a house very similar to the one you posted, only she used purple as well as pink. EVERYTHING she had was pink and purple, down to her checks and checkbook! She was in her mid50s and her whole philosophy was, "These are the colors that I like - why the hell not?" She was a very neat, independently-minded lady.

-Round One is now closed-
Inky, You can still post your Round I, but know you will be deducted one whole point (from each of the judges score).

Round II

Gothic Magic
Haunted by the night. Glowing pots.
The Goth Manor needs a face-lift. They had to deal with the same home since Sims 1. The Cordial sister's really need their home improved also. They not only have to see each other everyday, but their home doesn't show their true colors.
Maybe the poor Goth's don't retch your heart and the Cordial sister's are too witchy, Olive and her neice are tired of their haunted, dung patty.
Who will you help?

---Bonus---
Don, what a slime-bag.
He has the looks, the girls, the home and hair.
You are jealous and decided to re-model your 'condo'.
Don spied on you working out your plans to remodel and files a lawsuit. He wins and you are restricted on how you can remodel.

Restrictions-
-You must decorate with a theme.
-The outside must be renovated.
-Flip the whole layout. Where the kitchen currently is must be the front room.
-The nice room-y second story, was ruled illegal.
-With a baby on the way..you might just need to acompany the space.

The 'condos' are the white/cream with orange roofing (In Pleasantview).
This Bonus Round is worth 5.
2 for descriptions (that will help a blind person get around the home).
3 for following rules (labeled on the first post)

If anyone would like to see what they are being judged on please PM me.

Contestents, While I was reviewing the links I read through everyone's RI's and most failed to read directions. I'm posting the Judging cards and describing what they mean. (I did create these long before applications were over)

Judging Cards-
Description:
For a 5 people needed, to describe the rooms as if you were blind (you do not need to literally poke your eyes out).
-Doesn't need any more describing-

For a 4, If you were blind they would have lead you into a potted plant.
-The descriptions do not have to be literally, "Two feet from where you are standing is a carpet rug and then five feet from where you are standing is a coffee table," but if you can smoothly describe the room with few mistakes you get a 4.-

For a 3, This time they ran you into a wall.
-Maybe you forgot to describe a room or acted as part of a room wasn't there.-

For a 2, The wall, a bookcase and the fridge door.
-There were a lot of left out parts of the home-

For a 1, Some one will need to call the hospital...
-You either didn't describe the home at all or described it, but didn't mind the rules-

Layout:
5, Maxis gave us annoyingly huge rooms. The contestent worked with the huge rooms they were given.
-Brandi Broke's bedroom for example, yes, I know that her bedroom is well over enough tiles, but you must work with what you are given.-

4, The rooms aren't always useable.
-You might have crammed a master bedroom into a children-fit bedroom.-

3, Un-needed walls added or taken away.
-Left everything the way Maxis made it, but added a room, not reading the directions-

2, A room is missing.
-A bathroom or small bedroom was completely taken away-

1, I woke up one day and my kitchen turned into my bathroom....
-This contest is a challenge, not for you to make another home through a Maxis-made layout.-

Bahaha my sims must have ran into a wall, cracked their heads open and are now laying in sim hospital thinking why, why, WHY couldn't beatdoc follow the rules!!
Actually I misinterpreted the rules there, sorry PuX :( I thought a general overview would surfice at least I know now :D

But man seriously, me trying to give a walthrough of EVERY cabin, take way to long, not to mention the six pic limit would not have covered it. Hehe at least I had fun breaking the rules!

Edit - just to clarify. so we CAN'T change the interior layout then?? I thought that was altered, but just reading those last rules for layout it seems that we cant.

I completely understand everyone's issues. I probably would have done the same.

It was also brought to my attention about a rule change ealier.
I origainly stated that no walls where to be taken away then Katt brought up a adjustment (To be allowed to knock down a tile of wall or two just for appearence wise). I updated the rules and put in italics that no room is to be completely taken away.

Lol Jenny, our poor hospitalised sims. At least you have rushing as an excuse, I put heaps of effort into my cabins but all for nothing because I didn't grasp the idea of this comp *sigh* I guess that is how these things go. At least I can learn from it.

PuX I'm on your wavelength now though! :D Question, I am under the impression we only get 6 pics. If the house has more than six discribable rooms, in that situation what do you want done?

Jenny, Don't beat yourself up. It's my fault for not clearifiying the rules.

Question: We only get 6 pictures, whattheturtle man...
Answer: Pictures would be of main rooms (Kitchen, bedrooms, living room, study's, etc) and guide us mentally through the home.

quick ? . . . .
the bonus condo is over and above the other house? so you do two houses, not one, to get the bonus?

And I, too, misunderstood the rules. I thought we could change things around, too, as long as we kept all the types of rooms that were in there. I knocked out walls and turned the kid room into the kitchen/dining and put the kid room in a new spot. Oops. Looks like my score will reflect my piss poor rule interpreting. I thought by description, you meant the highlights, not a road map.

In the contest you are going to be given or select one Maxis lot per round. You are going to use only Maxis and/or Maxis-match objects to decorate.
You can only add walls. You can NEVER take away pre-made outside walls, but you can change the inside walls. (Don't completely remove a room Maxis originally put)

I didn't see anywhere in the rules that said about not re-designing the place...?
Sorry, I'm just a bit confused!

I, too, misread the text completely. But i'm glad i'm not the only one.

Pux, maybe i'm thick, but i don't get round 2. Do we need to choose between the Goth Magic and the Bonus? Or must we do both?
And the restrictions, are these for the Goth Magic as well?

And, last but certainly not least, Cordial sisters? Where are those located? I never heard of them.

Edit: Can you put this sentence a bit different?
you might just need to acompany the space.

English is not my first language and i can't get my head around a likely translation.

i sooo wanna bang my head on the wall right now! I spent aout 2 hours last night working on the house in strangetown (Olive and neice).... ya know, did what i usually do when i remodel...move rooms here there, convert, delete this and that... but, now, it appears that I wasn't allowed to completely get rid of rooms!

Man...now it looks like I have to take a stab at the goth manor .... and remember NOT to completely remove a room!! (heck, i'm gonna play it super safe and not move hardly anything!)

But, alls well that ends well.... I was remodeling Strangetown anyway!!!!!!!

And am I understanding this correctly.
Ok, for the bonus, you can redo that condo, however, the bonus is the only thing that follows those restrictions?? IDK....i'm just going to do what I always do in contests... go with inpulse, and then find out that I did everything totally wrong... oh well though! I do it for fun, not fame..

First, Round 2 questions.
Deatherella, Bonus Round is optional. You must do RII (The Gothic Magic). I gave three choices: Goth Manor, The Cordial Sister's home or Olive Spectator's home in Strangetown.
You pick one and remodel.

maybe i'm thick, but i don't get round 2. Do we need to choose between the Goth Magic and the Bonus? Or must we do both?
And the restrictions, are these for the Goth Magic as well?
angel f, Questions are good.
As I said above, Bonus Rounds here are just for fun that will help your overall score in the end.
The restrictions are only for the Bonus Round.
To acompany the the space is basicly to make a room look good with the given space.

Man...now it looks like I have to take a stab at the goth manor .... and remember NOT to completely remove a room!! (heck, i'm gonna play it super safe and not move hardly anything!)
Calm down on the irritation meter. ;)
As I've said before, this contest is ment to challenge you. You must work with Maxis' unthinkable huge rooms and make them look wonderful.

Rule Changes:
I was requested to clarify the rules a little more so...
Read below-
You can add half-walls or walls to give the room a slightly different shape, but do not delete walls or take away from the original Maxis floorplan.

Angelf if I demand you to stay, will you consider it?! :(
I agree it is unfair that points for internal layout for this round will be fairly random. I.e. if you were lucky enough to leave it than great! If like me, you changed the function of the entire lot than babah! But I think almost everyone is in the same boat there so points would have been taken fairly evenly. PuX did say for the 'descriptions' to be like leading a blind man. I read the 'be creative' bit and kinda ignored the rest, but I assume this to be my fault for not asking for clarification. Besides, think of what fun you could have 'stickin it to the institution' by continuing to break the rules (oh how badly I am tempted :P). I won't, because I want to at least try the challenge as it was intended, reguardless of score but who knows ;) . Finally - I liked your makeover! (not that that helps any and it's your choice, but it would be cool to see what else you made :D)

I have to agree a bit here. For example, if you take a test in school, and the entire class of students scores a lot lower than what the instructor expected, then the test is usually graded on a curve. It seems to me that most, if not all, of us misunderstood the concept of the contest. (I initially thought it was a building contest) I would request a little leniency for the first round.

angel f, I really hope that you will consider staying in the contest, it is so much fun having you here along with the others. I really enjoy seeing the creativity that having more contestants brings to a contest, and I really liked your entries too! ;)

I think we're all in the same boat.
Can we have a break-down of our scores? We can't tell what points we got for what as it is.

Also, I'll get on the train with this:

Descriptions:
Your creativity should shine here.
Now that you have proved that you can remodel, can you show-off your house?

You must act as if you are trying to sell the home you remodeled.

Nowhere in that does it say to lead a customer by the string through a house. It says try to sell it -- which would mean to me, give it a spiel to make it look good not room to room directions. I think that's what confused most of us.
And when that person that quit all contests asked about walls before quitting, something about the answer he got made me think it was okay to re-arrange things a bit. That's my excuse for knocking down one wall, moving over another and making a room in a new locale.

You can bet my next entry will have one helluva room-to-room description and them walls ain't moving without the aid of a hurricane.

This. I interpreted that to mean that it needed to read like a real estate ad or a clip from the home sale show. A description suitable for a blind person is going to a heck of a task on these large, goth homes.

All of that said, thank you for defining the rules more clearly. This is my first contest to participate in and I imagine that managing a contest is a lot of work. I think this is a good idea for a contest and I'm having fun with it so far.

I will say here and now that with my judging I was fair and took all of that into consideration. I marked on the right Criteria, but I say this; If everyone in a test got 50 out of 100, then the "A*"s would be at "45%" not at "90%". no one got "full marks" so no one got the "Bonus"/star/thing points from me.
I would hate to see anyone drop out of this; but PuX, is the criteria a little too high? It feels like lots of members joined for a contest that they thought was something else (and me too, if I remembered to post my application LOL). Before the next round is "in full flow" maybe this whole thing needs to be sorted out, WHAT is expected, and What you ARE/AREN'T allowed to do.

That was what I thought to a 'T". My thoughts were that we had to keep the exterior walls exactly as they were, and that we were allowed to change the inside walls to improve what Maxis had done. I had missed the blind man instructions so I'll be sure to have a description on all my rooms next round.

Even though I couldn't get my entry in on time i'm still lurking as i'm interested in what everyone comes up with. But I have to say that I am very confused by the whole rules of this contest, it seems very complex, proven so by the number of questions from the contestants. I'm actually quite glad that I withdrew (my R1 makeover can be seen HERE (http://www.sims2supernova.com/showthread.php?p=66201#post66201) if anyone is interested) as I think most of my time would of been spent asking for explanations or clarifications of the rules rather than actually doing the makeover.

All this aside, the contest is a great idea and if you happen to need an EJ just send me a message & i'd be happy to step in :D

Good luck everyone

Okay, i thought long and hard about it, but i'm going to drop out of this contest.
When i decided to join, i joined based on the rules as explained in the first post.
Nowhere i read that we couldn't alter internal rooms and nowhere in the first post i saw that i had to describe the room to a blind person. If those rules were in the first post, i wouldn't have joined in the first place.
My english is pretty good, but it takes me a lot of time to find the right words. Often i need to use a dictionary or translator to say what i want to say. Describing a room to a blind person is simply too hard for me.
Secondly i feel that rules were added during round one, rules that no contestants (or at least i) were aware of. Maybe Pux already wrote this rules down for herself, but she failed to tell the contestants. This gives me the feeling that at any moment in this contest rules may be added again.
With every round i'll be thinking "okay, what rules do i need to follow in order to prevent new rules from being slipped in?" I would then add a description of every single tile in the room to prevent me from not following the rules. And i simply don't have time for that.
Angelf if I demand you to stay, will you consider it?! :( Yes, i have considered it, and no my decision is final. I'm sorry sweety...

[[personally, I thought the idea of working with the Maxis houses out shape was a brilliant idea, redecorating the rooms? notsomuch]] That's exactly why i joined. I loved the idea of reshaping a maxis home to a certain floorplan that was actually workable and easy to decorate. I thought it was a building contest, not a decorating contest.

Sorry to see you go angel f.

Pux, before I finish off my next round, I have a bunch of questions. You may answer in monosyllables or with a 2x4.

No points are docked for Maxis-Match items, recolors, L&F, and the other stuff on that list in an earlier post?
You cannot remove any walls (only change to half-wall), but can you add walls -- like a big bedroom gets its own bath tucked in the corner?
If we can't change the floorplan, does that mean we can't change the original use of any rooms? Kitchens stay kitchens, bedrooms stay bedrooms, etc?
(Those two confused me in the first round since I thought the rules said only exterior walls can't be changed or removed.)
Are we only supposed to redecorate the house and skip the yard?
Is the scoring card the same for every round? Just asking so I could use that as the guideline for all of them.
What are these lucky star thingys?

I just want to improve over and above my last round. That's why I asked what the score break-down was. I figured that I got docked big time for just doing cutesy ad type descriptions. I misunderstood the rules and my crappy score reflects that and I want to do a better job on further rounds.

PuX- 80's
20th Feb 2009, 1:31 AM
If someone knows how to curve the scores I will completely allow it. That was one thing I tried figuring out yesterday, but I failed at trying to understand how to curve.

And when that person that quit all contests asked about walls before quitting, something about the answer he got made me think it was okay to re-arrange things a bit. That's my excuse for knocking down one wall, moving over another and making a room in a new locale.
Katt asked about knocking down a wall or two, not a whole room or rearranging the whole layout.

Not in main rules though
I changed the main post to fit the questions asked. That was one of the very first rules I changed, very early on.

Pux- can we(judges) say who we gave our lucky star thingys too?
If you want. ;)

Thank you seriouscookie for your happiness and understanding. Running a contest is a whole lot harder than it looks. :P

No points are docked.

Not in the rules, but I should change it.

Some Maxis homes don't so I don't see why not.

You can re-do the yeard, but it's not mandatory

1. I'm torn, because I was actually happy with my score - I thought it was fair, so I kinda think my opinion shouldn't count on that one. Whatever everyone else wants is fine.

2. C. I'm in the minority I know, but I liked the idea of the contest being about working with what Maxis gave us, so to speak. But again, I'm down for whatever. It's all just meant to be fun anyway.

3. A. I think descriptions that are too detailed in terms of what is located where will just take too long.

And just to be super, duper clear:

-You cannot remove any walls (only change to half-wall), but can you add walls -- like a big bedroom gets its own bath tucked in the corner?
Not in the rules, but I should change it.
^^^ So is that a "yes you can add" or a "no you can not add"?

-If we can't change the floorplan, does that mean we can't change the original use of any rooms? Kitchens stay kitchens, bedrooms stay bedrooms, etc?
Some Maxis homes don't so I don't see why not.
^^^ Is that a "yes, you can change the purpose of the room" or a "no, the kitchen stays a kitchen"?
(I just want to make sure because I'm almost done with my round two house and I don't want to be late with it.)

Thanks!

PuX according to my current view of the first main post, no where does it say 'like a blind man' which is to what I was referring earlier... err perhaps my vision is screwy, I do wear glasses :P

Honestly for a first contest I think you are handelling all this extremly diplomatically and thankyou for listening to all of us complain and for trying to understand and solve our concerns :D In fairness to all contestants I'm going to say revote round 1 would be lovley. My concern for changing the judging criteria now though is that I have almost finished my round 2 entry following current rules and for it to be judged on layout as well... not good for me or any other contestant who has now left it.
All in all though... I'm still having a blast! (and that whole leaving the layout thing... was challenging :D)

Oh, and Angelf I am sad to see you leave :( I hope you will stick around in this thread though, even if only to lurk :D)

It could be better, but, I don't have the time or patients, thus,.. this is what I shall submit :)

I remodeled, or more less, redecorated, the Goth Manor.

Original maxis floorplan:
Roof (http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/Old%20Maxis/snapshot_6dae6a73_16a87b6d.jpg), attic (http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/Old%20Maxis/snapshot_6dae6a73_96a87b67.jpg), 2nd floor (http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/Old%20Maxis/snapshot_6dae6a73_56a87b63.jpg), main floor (http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/Old%20Maxis/snapshot_6dae6a73_56a87b5e.jpg)

And Now:
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_6dae6a73_16a9e344.jpg
As you walk up the cemented steps, the once was dark, gloomy Monor is now a cheerful, white home.

Once entering the Manor, you walk into a pretty, wooden entry hall, with a grand piano, stairs, and a few sunny sitting places. To your left is a small, full bath, and to your right, is the brown, tiled kitchen. You can either walk through the kitchen to get to the oversized dinning room complete with bar, or, you can step through the family den, with fireplace, flat screen tv, and learning objects.
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_6dae6a73_96a9e455.jpg
Extra: (kitchen) (http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_6dae6a73_16a9e543.jpg)

Walking up the steps, you approach yet another wooded hall, though, this one not as grand as the one below. You are now on the quieter level of the home. If you stand at the top of the stairs, the master bedroom suite is to your right. The is a very large, burgandy room complete with sitting area, aquarium, and of course, the bed! The bedroom has its own bathroom, with its main feature being a tub . . . the kind with feet!
Back out at the top of the stairs, you can turn left and imediatly get to the girl bedroom. This is one room in the Goth Manor that stayed 'goth'.... maybe to preserve history, or maybe just because it was cute. On down the hall from the girl bed, is the boy bedroom.. A room that any young boy could be proud of, if I do say so myself. There is plenty of play room, and, it's blue, blue, and more... blue! Also, at the end of the hall is the upstairs full bathroom. Not to forget, standing back at the top of the stairs (again!) turn about...179 degrees to the left, and you can head up to the attic!
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_6dae6a73_56a9e44c.jpg
Extras:
master bed (http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_6dae6a73_16a9e516.jpg), girl bed (http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_6dae6a73_f6a9e4ce.jpg), boy bed (http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_6dae6a73_d6a9e4f2.jpg)

Walking up the attic stairs, you come into a nice size, cozy attic. I left this room unfurnished, as, we all have different opinions upon what would go in such a room, and, personally, I didn't know what to put up there. But, don't worry... Its completely remodeled, complete with an added full wall, and half wall.
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_6dae6a73_16a9e42f.jpg

Head on back down to flights of stairs, and please exit via the back door, which is found in the den.
Upon walking outside, to your left is the Goth Cemetary, complete with ghosts, I'm sure! And straight ahead is a pool with a slide, and a swing. yay!

I did some updating awhile ago so, Beatdoc you weren't able to see about the blind man.

Rules:
-You can add rooms.
-Do NOT delete walls or take away from the original Maxis floorplan.
-You may convert bedrooms to kitchens, bathrooms to studies, pink lemonade to grilled cheese, etc.

Descriptions:
Your creativity should shine here.
Now that you have proved that you can remodel, can you show-off your house?
You must act as if you are trying to sell the home you just remodeled.
When I first submitted this contest, I had everything planned. I wrote the rules that laid in my brain only here. The only thing contestants can't see is future Round info that I've PMed myself.
I read the rules over to make sure that no one rule conflicted with another.
Maybe tomorrow I can show examples of how I planned the rounds to go (I'm very slowly remodeling Brandi Broke's neighboring homes).
All I have to show for as examples of the way I planned the homes to be remodeled are: Oak Road (http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg12/portsil28/Kitchen-2.jpg) and the bedroom (http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg12/portsil28/bedroom-1.jpg) of an OFB home.

My concern for changing the judging criteria now though is that I have almost finished my round 2 entry following current rules and for it to be judged on layout as well... not good for me or any other contestant who has now left it.
I am planning on changing the Judging cards, but following 'old' judging rules would/should get you far.
Beatdoc, I'm not understanding the part after '... '

Clw, You could have minimized your descriptions for what I was looking for. You are not literally walking a blind man through a home, but just simply gaze the rooms.
Other than that, I like the redecorating.

I simpily was just having fun with it, more or less like doing a real life walkthrough. I truely think I would have still totally murdered (accidentally) a blind man! I personally didn't feel my corny discriptions were that well, dicriptive, but, whatever, lol.

I mainly wrote it like that to have a little fun, but, I still don't get it, though. How do I previde a walk through detailed enough for a 'blind man' but then go over board with that?

Oh well, it doesn't matter! :)

You did exactly (and a tad over) what I wanted.
You did not go over board and the blind man would come out spot-less :P

Well I think I get the spirit of the contest right even though my perception of the letter of the rules may not have been exact. And knowing is half the battle. Finishing the mostrosity of a remodel that I just did - aye aye aye, even with switch a few to halfsies, there was just so, so much work that needed to be done with it. I'm thinking about breaking down and buying a SP just do get more variety in my deco. I'm growing tired of the ficus... and the rubberplant, and I needed plants everywhere for my rebuild! *ack* *pulls hair*
I'll take pictures and do my post tomorrow. It's too late and Prince Ambien is taking me away to Sleepy McDroolerson's House of Sawing Logs.

I'm not sure what you mean here, can you please clarify PuX-?
I would greatly appreciate it! :D

I think what I was trying to get at after the '...' was that if you changed the judging cards so that points were given for how layouts were changed from maxis, contestants that hadn't changed the layouts for round 1 and 2 would not get those points to their detriment. (If you went with B. Skill of re-decorating, and re-modeling layout of Maxis (with descriptons)) I took that to mean points would also be given for skill of re-modeling i.e. layout. Er did that make sense? I saw that house of your's too, great job, and very helpful!! Thanks PuX :D

Exterior Night (http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp101/beatdoc16/Maxis%20Makeover/Exterior-night-2.jpg)
Elegance, prestige, Luxury. Knowing you own the most imposing mansion in the neighbourhood. Due to the recent shock disappearances of Mortimer and Bella Goth, this fantastic home and bragging rights could now be yours, for a price so astonishingly low publishing it would cause its own scandal. Apply for inspection today, or spend the rest of your life regretting you ever let Malcolm Landgrabb grab the one thing that could have made you aspirational!

http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp101/beatdoc16/Maxis%20Makeover/Kitchen.jpg
Entry Hall (http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp101/beatdoc16/Maxis%20Makeover/Entry-orig.jpg)
Recently refurbished and landscaped by Dreamer Décor, once you’ve stepped inside the tall ironwork front gates of Old Goth Manor you are immediately surrounded by a new definition of elegance. The formal front courtyard guides visitors directly to the main porch and through the imposing entryway, where you are greeted in glamour and style by the gothic entry foyer. Glance right as you make your way down the hall and you may even catch a glimpse of the worn yet fully fitted kitchen, for all your entertainment and mac-and-cheese needs.

http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp101/beatdoc16/Maxis%20Makeover/Living-3.jpg
Following the highly polished boards of the entry hall past the stairwell will lead guests into the formal, yet cosily appointed lounge of Old Goth Manor. Retaining the feel of its original owners, decorated in rich green, earth and red tones, here is a place the whole family can relax with a book or catch up with the latest episode of Moo Moo Magic.

http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp101/beatdoc16/Maxis%20Makeover/Dining-2-1.jpg
Behind the well stocked bookshelves, a small passage welcomes you to the richly appointed dining room, also linking to the kitchen and back garden for ease of access. Be careful not to tap on the glass, you may scare the fish!

http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp101/beatdoc16/Maxis%20Makeover/Main-bed.jpg
The main bedroom, once owned by Mortimer Goth himself, is immediately to the right of the upstairs hallway. Enter through the elegant double doors and indulge your senses in the rich hues and feathery comfort of the large double bed, situated with a view out the front private balcony. Pillow fights with these cushions are not advised, and this real estate agency will expect all clients inspecting the room to behave like the mature minded adults they are and not attempt to test the ‘comfort’ of the bed themselves.

Cassandra's Bedroom (http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp101/beatdoc16/Maxis%20Makeover/Cass-bed.jpg)
Art Area (http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp101/beatdoc16/Maxis%20Makeover/Art-area.jpg)
The opposite side of the stairwell affords access to the two other bedrooms in Old Goth Manor. Whilst both have been updated with double beds, more suitable to our clientele they still retain the personality of their former owners, with the more feminine of the two previously belonging to Cassandra Goth, who is now living happily with her 10 kids and the notorious romantic Don Lothario. Alexander’s former room however is more suited to a teenager, with its furniture lending it a slightly more modern flair.
There is also a dedicated art and pottery space on the third floor, complete with it's own private balcony for encounters of a multi-galatical kind.

Outdoor Spa (http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp101/beatdoc16/Maxis%20Makeover/Spa.jpg)
With so many spectacular features you would be loopy as a llama to ignore the fantastic opportunity to own this wonderful mansion. Contact Brandi Broke at Moneybags Real Estate and arrange your inspection today!

Speaking of babies . . . the sweet little child came along chatttering away to Nana who was paying attention more attention to what room to redo next when . . . click . . . . .szzzzzzzzzz . . . .

Um, the only pics I have of the Goth house are the before pics. And I only had it saved at some point when I had all the furniture stripped out, the exterior walls pretty much finished, most of the interior walls redone, I think only bathrooms had anything in them. I am so screwed. I have to redo everything and I don't know how long it'll take me.
In case you didn't catch on -- the baby hit the off button on my pc and I lost all this morning's work. All I have is what I saved from last night after dinner, before bed.
And my exterior makes me think that all our great minds were thinking alike in quite a few ways.

I sort of forgot about Cassandra because in my hood she really DID move out with Don and fufill a want to have 10 kids, poor guy I'm so evil :D She might have had a little help from Darren too but shhhh :P
Clw8 I think your entry is great! I really enjoyed your descriptions and love how you updated the house with a more bright airy feel to it. I can never seem to move past the 'goth' part of the Goth house, so it's great to see it updated in a different (yet still fitting) style.

Beatdoc, Kay, now I have more time.
The new judge cards have not been made yet, but the layout section will consist of:
-You made over the one of the given homes.
-You did not alter the outside-most walls.
-You made Maxis look good.
(By the way, :jaw: )

I'm also extending Round 2 untill tomorrow.
Hopefully the remaining contestants can pull through and amaze us yet again with Maxis homes.

Hope it's ok that I didn't put this with my other post.

Remodel of the Condo's....

Theme: Run-down
Custom Content - NONE , (unless something is missed)

Welcome :)

Maxis orignial floors:
1st (http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_00000001_d6ab32b9.jpg) , 2nd floor (http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_00000001_b6ab32b0.jpg)

Now:
(From above)
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_00000001_96ab4ac2.jpg
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_00000001_56ab4ae2.jpg

As you walk up to the front door, what welcomes you first? The rusty car? Dead Tree? Out of control bamboo? Weeds? Well, what ever it is, lets just hope that it doesn't send ya packin!
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_00000001_56ab4c3e.jpg
Enter -
Walking into the front door, you are in the small living area. (http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_00000001_76ab4b5c.jpg) A well used room, but still very functional, providing a few basic learning utilities, and fun objects. (Even toys for the kids to come!)
Ahead of you is the conjoined kitchen / dinning area (http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_00000001_96ab4b3f.jpg). The kitchen, while small, is still functional, and the dinning area has more room then you think. A table, chairs, and highchair can all comfortably fit in there, with plenty of room to move around with.
Through the living area, is the bed and bath. The bedroom (http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_00000001_f6ab4bb2.jpg), though crowded, still has plenty room for your childs early years, with room and a comfy bed for the adults too. The bath, is a full bath, with ultra basic facilities for everyday hygene.
Well, I would say that this concludes the interior layout, to continue, step outside
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_00000001_d6ab4afe.jpg

Outside:
Well, we've already explored the front yard, so, walking around the back, you notice the continuation of weeds and rocks. The backyard harvests even more bamboo growth, but, besides that, there is a small play area with a swing and (nonfunctional) slide. There is also plenty of room for a small pool, pond, or hot tub, in my opinion.
And, concluding the walkthrough, hope you liked it.

Subject Realty, with support from the Strangetown Board of Developement, are pleased to offer for your consideration

13 Dead End

Once the home of one of the largest and oldest family (http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/qq199/seriouscookie/13%20Dead%20End/premodelviewfront.jpg) ... um... retirement grounds (http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/qq199/seriouscookie/13%20Dead%20End/oldoverhead.jpg), 13 Dead End has been given new life. Its fresh, updated look is a celebration of water, earth, air, and life!

http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/qq199/seriouscookie/13%20Dead%20End/frontview.jpg

Enter through one of two glasswork double doors (http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/qq199/seriouscookie/13%20Dead%20End/extentry.jpg) and be immediately indulged in a bath of light from both above and beyond. The island bar provides a conversation-friendly dining area for up to seven - perfect for those who love to entertain!

http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/qq199/seriouscookie/13%20Dead%20End/entrybar.jpg

Pass around to the right of the bar and through a glass-ensconced archway to visit the gleaming, modern kitchen. Windows on the left provide a cheerful view of the bamboo garden. The kitchen's right face (http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/qq199/seriouscookie/13%20Dead%20End/kitchenrightside.jpg) allows views through the hall office, through the fitness room, and beyond! Notice the half-wall the right of this image? That's an open view of the classically inspired conservatory (http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/qq199/seriouscookie/13%20Dead%20End/conservatory.jpg)!

http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/qq199/seriouscookie/13%20Dead%20End/kitchenleftview.jpg

From the entry, dining area, you can also easily make your way through a modern hall/office and into the fitness room. Like the rest of the home, light is the central focus here. From your seat on your exercise bike, you will enjoy the stunning (http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/qq199/seriouscookie/13%20Dead%20End/extpool2.jpg) sights (http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/qq199/seriouscookie/13%20Dead%20End/extpool1.jpg) of the courtyard, day or night! There is a full bathroom (http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/qq199/seriouscookie/13%20Dead%20End/fitnessbath2.jpg) to your left if you work up a sweat, flowing directly to the aforementioned conservatory!

http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/qq199/seriouscookie/13%20Dead%20End/fitnessroom.jpg

Again from the home's entry way, go left around the bar (http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/qq199/seriouscookie/13%20Dead%20End/livingtoleft.jpg) and into the inviting den/living room. This L-shaped space comes complete with sofa, television, bookcase, fireplace, and lounge chair. Don't forget that an abundance of windows means an abundance of light. Roman shades and the exterior landscaping help you manage your privacy.

http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/qq199/seriouscookie/13%20Dead%20End/living2.jpg

The master bedroom (http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/qq199/seriouscookie/13%20Dead%20End/bedroombed.jpg) also has a sitting area (http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/qq199/seriouscookie/13%20Dead%20End/bedroomsitting.jpg), decorated with an extra pop of color, and access to a second full bathroom. The entire lot, with its extensive exterior ammenities, is priced at 186,852 Simoleans. Although it has been remodeled with a retiring couple or a single sim in mind, its 3x4 lot size means that there is room to grow!

Bonus!

So Lothario wants to play hard ball, eh? We'll show 'em!

Pleasantview Realty is proud to show its latest renovation!

190 Main

http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/qq199/seriouscookie/190%20Main/newfrontview.jpg

We hired famed local interior decorator and grocery gal Marylena Hamilton, who chose the theme Oh, How I Love Cheese-us! - inspired by the colors of Pleasantview's favorite lunchtime treat!

http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/qq199/seriouscookie/190%20Main/grilledcheeseliving.jpg
feel the cheesy goodness

A small but vibrant kitchen, just oozing with delicious potential, awaits your culinary skill! Take a right at the refridgerator to visit the full bath (http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/qq199/seriouscookie/190%20Main/bathroomview.jpg) when you're done!
http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/qq199/seriouscookie/190%20Main/kitchenview.jpg

Turn back around toward the front door and find a seat on the cheetoh-esque sectional sofa and watch the best quality television that simoleans can buy. The arch behind the sofa leads to the nursery. (Because there will be kids in your neighborhood from now on, Lothario - deal with it!)
http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/qq199/seriouscookie/190%20Main/livingtofrontdoor.jpg

A double bed, separated by privacy screen, provides the perfect place to rest after a long day of pursuing grilled cheese perfection.
http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/qq199/seriouscookie/190%20Main/bedroomarea.jpg

And never fear - simple but effective landscaping lets potentially nosey neighbors know that you're on to them.

Tiki Time
Bonus Round 2

http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp101/beatdoc16/exterior-4.jpg
Feel the caress of the breeze on your skin, the smell of the salt in your hair and the sound of the tiki drum in your heart. Be one of the first to explore this quaint new property by Don's Dinky Designs today, and be sipping fruity cocktails on your tropical balcony by tonight.

http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp101/beatdoc16/Entry-2.jpg
Lushly landscaped, this tiny tiki home is both inviting and fun. The side-on main entry affords both privacy and and ingenious way to fool your demanding neighbours. After enjoying the delights of your own private balcony, pool and spa you'll be forgiven for thinking you've died and gone to heaven.

http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp101/beatdoc16/Living.jpg
To the left of the entryway is a cramped but colourful livingroom, complete with a tiny crib to welcome any new bundles of joy (Let's hope their not Dons!). There is also a fishtank aquarium so even if you don't live at the beach, you can take it home with you.

http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp101/beatdoc16/Dining.jpg
Enjoy a romantic dinner for two at this perfect little dining area to the right of the entry, built especially for this home by TwoCan Tables.

http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp101/beatdoc16/Kitchen.jpg
Guests will notice the influence of Don's style and flair in the convenient layout of the tiki home, with only a short distance to walk between the kitchen, dining table couch and all important bedroom.

http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp101/beatdoc16/bed.jpg
Naturally the bedroom is the biggest 'seperate' room in the house and accomidates comfortably it's own very large bed. Don's Dinky Designs encourages potential buyers to try out the bed for themselves, especially if they are a single female and he himself is present. ;)

Take a tour today and discover your own slice of affordable paradise. Once you've heard the tiki beat, we gaurantee you'll never look back!

Welcome to the Specter House!

Old House View (http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj80/CiaoAlora/Designer/ogfrontofophihouse.jpg) Old House Floor Plan (http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj80/CiaoAlora/Designer/ogflpln.jpg)

Newly renovated and ready to show, this home is sure to please ghost lovers everywhere. From the exterior, you might notice the most drastic changes to the house, a new Mansard roof was added and the home now boasts a multitude of windows! Amazing, I know... So step on inside and take a tour!

Dining Room:

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj80/CiaoAlora/Designer/diningroom.jpg

Upon entering the home, you are immediately welcomed by the roomy dining room, complete with a table large enough for six on an average day, and two more can squeeze in during holidays. The old stone walls were covered in this custom striped wallpaper, and white base trim added to brighten the room up a bit.

Kitchen:

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj80/CiaoAlora/Designer/manorkitchen.jpg

From the dining room, we will head into the kitchen real quick. The kitchen has new cabinetry, appliances, flooring and wall treatments. Looks old, but it's new; it goes with the aesthetics.

Living Room With Study:

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj80/CiaoAlora/Designer/livingroom2-1.jpg

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj80/CiaoAlora/Designer/studyarea.jpg

One More View of the Living Room (http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj80/CiaoAlora/Designer/livingrm-3.jpg)

Now in the living room, you can see the jewel of the home. Rich warm colors mixed with dark wood create a nice atmosphere for relaxing with one of the many books in here. There is plenty of seating for when company arrives too. And best of all, there is a nice little "office" area in the little nook at the back of the room.

Bedroom One:

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj80/CiaoAlora/Designer/teenrm.jpg

Next to the living room is the first bedroom. Now this bedroom was last used by a teenage girl, so it was only fitting to make it appropriate for her. A little dark, a touch of frilly lace, and a dash of romance.

Bedroom Two, AKA The Master Bedroom:

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj80/CiaoAlora/Designer/masterbed.jpg

One More View of Master Bed (http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj80/CiaoAlora/Designer/masterbed2.jpg)

Finally, we get a taste of the master bedroom. The room is rather large, and easily accommodates the largest of beds plus a bulky armoire. The color on the wall was kept relatively neutral, so as not to overwhelm the scale of the furniture or the old woman who called this room hers. The room is feminized by the fabric choices used throughout, and by adding candle fixtures for ambient lighting.

Please excuse the double post, the first one was just too long...

30 Lakeside Drive
Theme: Modern "Loft"

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj80/CiaoAlora/Designer/front.jpg

New Floor Plan:

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj80/CiaoAlora/Designer/flplnofcondo.jpg

Well after Don curtailed my plans for major expansion, I decided to go the completely opposite direction and try for those small loft style homes that are so popular. So I was forced to remove my third story super suite and in the process, lost the structural integrity of the second story as well. So down it went and I was left with the main floor only.

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj80/CiaoAlora/Designer/back.jpg

The back yard features a bit of privacy fencing, to keep those nosey neighbors from viewing my master plan... Oh and a nice lap pool was added too!

The Kitchen:

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj80/CiaoAlora/Designer/kitchen-8.jpg

Nothing says "loft" more than a galley style kitchen with stainless steel finishes! It's a wonderful thing fitting a fully functional kitchen in and including enough seating for three! My wife can appreciate that with a baby on the way, soon we'll have need of it! Up above, I had structural wooden beams installed, so we don't lose the main floor too, and they are nice and lofty!

Living Room Area:

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj80/CiaoAlora/Designer/liv2.jpg

Another Living Shot (http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj80/CiaoAlora/Designer/living-7.jpg)

We managed to squeeze the living room into the old entry way. I even have my old egg chair from my college days there!

Bedroom Area:

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj80/CiaoAlora/Designer/thesleeparea.jpg

The bedroom area has no walls, or I should say, no walls were added to make a complete bedroom! To save on precious space, we installed a Murphy bed that can fold up when not in use. The stork has yet to deliver, but we are already preparing for the big day and even found a small crib that fit perfectly in the small space!

Round III

Fancy Tables
Rich people, such snobs. They have the best of everything. Everything they ever wanted they can get in a blink of an eye. They have, the looks (sometimes), the car(s), the great looking homes and the interior to die for....erase the last one....maybe not.
The Pleasents may have a rocky road, but their home shows Mary-Sue's working habbits.
The Grunts may be air-heads and toned, but if you have a good home, who isn't jealous?
The Aspir's may have a full household, but their home is seriously lacking some umph, right?

---Bonus---
Pleasantview is the home to many rich, good-looking Sims, but the homes kid of lack the beauty and elegance the civilians don't.
For RIII Bonus you have a choice:
Landgrabb Estate or 210 Wright Way.

------Restrictions------
Lucky you, no jealous neighbors, no grumpy goveners!

-Remember, rich people have high taste.

Round II Scores Only:

-Beatdoc16- 32.7/10
Layout: 14.7/15
Description: 15/15
Lucky Star: Charley, Petchy, x-tashi-x

-Wow. Just, wow. It is stunning. I like how you have left the floorplan relatively the same. The lanscaping is amazing, you did I great job. Love the antique look! Well done!
It was a really wonderful description! I was totally engrossed and you used some very good words! I also found some comments such as "With so many spectacular features you would be loopy as a llama to ignore the fantastic opportunity to own this wonderful mansion." a very entertaining addition to the description!

-Love what you did with the manor. The exterior is just breath-taking. If I heard of someone with the last name ‘Goth’ and heard about their background this is what I’d exactly expect their house to look like. It is truly beautiful.

-This is just awesome! I love the feel you have given and the little "extras" were hilarious! I can't wait to download this and change that to a little magic room! Well done!

-CiaoAlora- 24.5/10
Layout: 11.5/15
Description: 12/15
Lucky Star: Charley

-I very much like it! I think you have created a nice quaint style here, and I find it a big improvement of the original!

-I liked how you kept the floorplan relatively the same, but I found the interior to be quite bland. I did like the roof, and i liked the landscaping out the front.
I really loved your description, and I loved the words you used! They described the house well, and I loved how you highlighted the versatility of the house, like when you mentioned two more seats could be added to the table during the holidays. I loved the descriptive words! Well done!

-A massive improvement from the original home. I love the antique feel of the home.

-Romyhorse- 22.5/30
Layout: 13.5/15
Description: 8/15
Star: Petchy

-I like the castle-y look of the house it’s different to what I usually see on make-over’s of this particular house, different in a good way! The only thing I’d suggest, is you add a tiny bit more onto you description.

-I quite liked the layout and I really like the decor! And the satellite in the bedroom... nice touch! I feel the outside could have had a bit more, though. I really like the stone on the inside!
I wasn't thrilled with the description. It was short and slightly boring and I think it could use a lot more words. It was a beautiful home, but I really think the description let it down. Be creative! Don't forget to act like your selling the home! Work on that for round 3.

-Desert.Goth.it.up! I love the Gothic-castle take onto this and the lot seems to have kept its original charm, well done!

-Clw8- 20/30

Description: 9/15

-I really liked the layout, and no CC is a bonus! I love the placement of things, and the rooms are really different! I love what you've done, very nice. I also love the sunny spots in the hall to sit in. And first I thought the rooms were a bit big, but you used the space wisely, so it doesn't look bare.
You description was... lacking. I found it rather boring and I would have liked some more excting or descriptive words. It definitley does not do the beautiful house justice. Maybe you could work on that for the next round?
Comment: It's completley different and I like it! Excellent job, love the use of big spaces and the colours! As I said above, you should work on "selling" the house, it is a big part of your score!

-I do like your take on this lot (much more clean than the rest, perfect for someone who was renting etc.) but I did find it slightly bland in a way. Maybe you could try spicing the colours up, like what you did for some of the second floor? In whole, a nice entry

-I would of like to see a bit more of a gothic touch to the house to keep it original but the ‘cleaner’ look is different.

-Wow! A completely different look to the original house, it’s clean and airy.

-This is an exceptionally original take onto this, something I would never have thought about; well done there! I kinda don't like how this Gothic lot has become a more modern nightclubby place however. Overall, an exceptionally original piece!

-Wow! It is so pretty and modern! A definate change, and one for the better! I love the pool shape too, the outside was so creative and stunning! The inside was very modern and very pretty, a treat to look at!!!
I loved the description, it was written like you were acctually selling it! I love how you highlighted the really good things, such as "The island bar provides a conversation-friendly dining area for up to seven - perfect for those who love to entertain!" Nice job!

-Deatherella- 19/30
Layout: 9/15
Description: 10/15

-I like the decor of the home, so classic and pretty. I love the attic too, so cool! Overall I think it is beautifully decorated, BUT I can't say I love the outside. I think it could have used more. Though I do like what you've done with the graves.
The Description could use some more exciting and descriptive words. A nice house.

-I like this version of the Goth house, But I was hoping for more "Goth Flare". All in all, I find it a nice entry

Yeah, congrats beatdoc (and all of you!). Now I've got to figure out what sphere of subreality I have to yank a desigh out for this next one. Spent hours trying to make it work and i am uninspired as of now. homefully a good night's sleep will send some dreams of interesting pixillated places. Goodnight's the word for me at the 'mo. Great job with Round two, EVERYONE *clappity*. Of to dream of expensive statues and what not.

Is it absolutely too late to post my Round 2 stuff? Friday, we had snow, the idiot that was supposed to deliver our last shipment of wood for the winter decided he didnt' want to drive in the weather, leaving us with not enough wood to get through the day, babies and children to farm out to warm houses, and then the joy of going off and chopping our own wood to keep our 3-story house with no back-up heat other than space heaters warm. We have one of those wood furnace thingy's in the back yard.
My stuff is all done, but I haven't been on the net since like Thursday night or the wee hours of Friday morning. I had my stuff sitting around, but no time to get it posted.

Am whining here.

Sure, it's better than a big fat zero. I have the bonus round, too. I put all my pics on photobucket last night before coming here, so they are all ready to get posted with the descriptions.

For this second bonus round, does anyone live in 210? The link to download my bulldozed empty houses is no longer here. Does anyone else have it? I like sticking to one neighborhood at a time. I don't have to wait a half hour to see the next lot, that way.

I'm adding my Round 2 and Bonus Round to this to keep from double posting.

Round 2 - Goth Mansion

Before pics are at: http://s265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20Maxis-Made%20Contest/Round%202%20-%20Goth/Before/

Whenever I looked at that house, I thought it should be a brick house. Now, it is. The Goth's hung out in the backyard whiling away their time in a state of suspended animation waiting to see what would get done to help them dump the place. Cassandra seemed more interested in ol' Don, though.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20Maxis-Made%20Contest/Round%202%20-%20Goth/After/snapshot_6dae6a73_f6aca5c5.jpg

A fresh face-lift starts our tour of the Goth Mansion where the home has been improved inside and out. Gone are those dreary old shingles and all that black fencing. Ugh! Let's quick hop in the helicoptor for an overhead view of all the new white fencing and gardening -- not too mention, that family plot sure looks nice now with some flowers and statuary.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20Maxis-Made%20Contest/Round%202%20-%20Goth/After/snapshot_6dae6a73_b6aca67d.jpg

Now, that we're back on the ground, let's take a looksee inside. We enter into the revamped roomy entry where you can sit to take off your boots to the left by the new coat closet, or warm your toes by at the new fireplace and seating grouping on the left. Straight ahead is the reconstructed main stairway.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20Maxis-Made%20Contest/Round%202%20-%20Goth/snapshot_6dae6a73_36acaf02.jpg[/IMG

Going counter-clockwise through the first floor, we first go to the kitchen door next to the fireplace. Your family can enjoy a casual meal at the table after preparing it at the cooking station on the left side of the room. It's quite light and airy in the kitchen, that should brighten your mornings.
We pass through the kitchen into the formal dining room with table and chairs set up in the center of the room. As we stand in the door, we have a hutch directly to the left of us for your fine china, to walls to the right and straight forward have double windows that you and guests may look out over the gardens from. The final wall, has two archways to the parlor with a bar waiting for you to serve pre-dinner refreshments to your guests.

[IMG]http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20Maxis-Made%20Contest/Round%202%20-%20Goth/snapshot_6dae6a73_76acab72.jpg

Entering the parlor, we find a social grouping in front of the fireplace. You and guests can spend hours chatting and enjoying your company while admiring the travel bric-a-brac. Behind the seating, a gaming table is set up for some card playing. Along the back wall, you may challenge a family member or friend to a rousing game of chess. Or you can all watch the latest shows on the telly tucked in the corner.

We leave the parlor to find ourselves in a side hallway. In front of us is a guest lavatory with all the necessities -- don't forget to put the lid down. One can go outside from the back door found on the exterior wall here.

Let's go upstairs, shall we? The bedrooms have all been done in a manner speaking of quiet elegance. You and yours will find restful hours whether in or out of bed.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20Maxis-Made%20Contest/Round%202%20-%20Goth/snapshot_6dae6a73_96ab7ea7.jpg

The first bedroom is to the left of the stairs. You enter and find a nice double poster bed in front of you. The bed faces a fireplace with cozy chairs to read before the fire. You can grab a novel from the bookcase on one side of the fireplace. On the other side is a double-wide closet and a bureau on the exterior wall.

Coming out of this room, in front of us is the new nursery. Small, but functional. To the right of the door is the changing table. Across from us is a nice crib with mobile. You can sit and coo with your baby in the chair tucked in the corner.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20Maxis-Made%20Contest/Round%202%20-%20Goth/snapshot_6dae6a73_b6acac96.jpg

The Master Bedroom is gained through this door in the center of the hallway. To the right is a private bathroom. A bookcase is tucked in the corner for you to grab a book to read while sitting in front of the fireplace on the left wall. A bed graces the center of the far wall. A large dresser faces the fireplace from the other side wall and there's a screeen for you to change behind right here to our right on the wall leading into the room.

Down the hall is a full bathroom for family use and next to that is our final bedroom. This room is perfect for a studious individual. Across from the door is a nice big bed, with a dresser to the side of it. There's also a little closet tucked in the corner to our right. Next to the door is a chair to sit on while changing, next to that is a desk ready for you to browse the net with a new pc. The back wall has a bookcase for your study-er to find his/her research. This room has a light, airy Spring feel.

Now, let's go see the attic floor.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20Maxis-Made%20Contest/Round%202%20-%20Goth/snapshot_6dae6a73_16acad7a.jpg

Wow, this floor was made for you and your family to kick back and forget about impressing all those high-faluting townies. Tucked under the roof stairs to our right is a bookcase full of all those "low-brow" novels you really love to read. No tomes, here. Let's go see what else there is to be found amongst the clutter. If we stand here beside these old toys along the railing and look towards the street, a ballet bar is set up on this little wall on the right, chairs and table with a radio on the left. Opening up from there is a larger area with a drumset in the front right corner and an office/crafting/workstation area on the left. If we hang a left here at the railing, an easel is set up in the corner. Let's go take a peek behind that door in the back. Oh! A storage room and now, we know where those Christmas presents are hidden.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20Maxis-Made%20Contest/Round%202%20-%20Goth/snapshot_6dae6a73_56acaec2.jpg

One more stairway to go! We come up onto the roof and discover that it looks like you won't have to worry about sharing your Johnsonville brat with the hood. A lovely patio area on the top of your house! Who could ask for more? You can cook on the grill to our left, move to the other side of the chimney to munch at the umbrella table, or you can enjoy the sunshine in one of the lounge chairs along the frontside of the area. I bet the flowers will get plenty of sunshine, too.

All that's left of our tour, now, is a jaunt throught the vast lawns. Coming out the side door, we follow the walk to the family plot. Behind the home is an open area for lawn games such as croquet, and then we have some lovely gardens to walk about on the other side.

Hope you enjoyed your tour. More pics of the house inside and out can be found at: http://s265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20Maxis-Made%20Contest/Round%202%20-%20Goth/

Bonus Round 1

Since I only have two condos in my hood, I redesigned the Caliente sisters' lot. Considered forcing Don to live on his second floor forever more as just desserts, though. I wasn't clear on whether or not the second floor got ripped off or ignored, I left it on the lot I did since the home was occupied before I started. You'll see that I made the two floors sort of blend together on the outside with a cornice around the house. Nina and Dina stood on the rooftop contemplating what this overhaul meant to their lifestyles while I went to work.I think they want the second floor done up, too, now that the bonus round is over.

Before pics are at: http://s265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20Maxis-Made%20Contest/Bonus%20Round%201/Before/

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20Maxis-Made%20Contest/Bonus%20Round%201/After/R2B-front.jpg

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20Maxis-Made%20Contest/Bonus%20Round%201/After/R2B-back.jpg

Don can look over from his place next door and indulge a little in our theme, Green With Envy. Here you can see the lovely new brickwork and cornice on the first floor of the Caliente home. Flowers, palms and cacti surround the home. The back corner has a little pool for taking a dip in and a patio area is set up in back.

Our new floor plan :

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20Maxis-Made%20Contest/Bonus%20Round%201/After/R2B-floor2.jpg

You can see more pics of the exterior from all angles, and a smaller overhead shot of the whole lot at: http://s265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20Maxis-Made%20Contest/Bonus%20Round%201/After/

Coming in on the side of the house, we find that there is so much more than the original floor plan. The home has shades of green throughout in walls, floors, furnishings and decor.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20Maxis-Made%20Contest/Bonus%20Round%201/R2Bonus-001.jpg

We come into the livingroom. To our right is seating in front of the entertainment center. A bookcase is tucked in the corner to make grabbing a novel handier. On the other half of the room, to the left a table is set up with a killer computer for your use, next to that is large bookcase and along the other wall is a stereo. Dancing or background music for that proper ambience. Heck, crank up the tunes and annoy Don all the more.

Straight across from the entry door is an archway leading into a hallway with the stairway intact so that Nina and Dina aren't stuck on the rooftop forever more. I'm sure some of the girls in the hood prefer it that way, but I know some guys that want those two to be easily accessible. Going straight ahead through the next archway takes us into the kitchen/dining area. Big roomy and light with all those windows on the diagonal wall.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20Maxis-Made%20Contest/Bonus%20Round%201/R3B-003.jpg

Speaking of those windows -- looking in from the outside, you can see the dining table set up right after the archway entering in from the hall.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20Maxis-Made%20Contest/Bonus%20Round%201/R2Bonus-002.jpg

Tucked into the corner on the front of the house is a little kitchen area with a bar. You can eat at the bar or table, your choice. Lots of plants hanging before and lined up along the windows bring the outside in all the more

In the corner by the dining set, is another archway leading into a short hall. Across from the arch is a small nursery. Just a chair by the door with a crib on the far wall in there.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20Maxis-Made%20Contest/Bonus%20Round%201/snapshot_2dae895f_36ad9a05.jpg

The little hall opens into a smal bedroom. A single bed straight ahead. Coming into the room, there's a dresser on the side wall. We come out of the room on the opposite end into the hallway. There's a nice double window you can look out onto the patio from. You'll probably see Don back there turning greener than this condo. Across from the bedroom is a full bathroom

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20Maxis-Made%20Contest/Bonus%20Round%201/snapshot_2dae895f_76ad9cca.jpg

Our work here is done. Don is Green With Envy, and Dina and Nina have come on down with ideas of taking over.

More pics of the home are at: http://s265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20Maxis-Made%20Contest/Bonus%20Round%201/

random fact:
pleasant house = cordial house (give or take a couple of walls)
Maxis = lazy. :D

I read in the prima guide that this was intentional. I can't wait for your Pleasant house! I recently re-did mine. The biggest change I did was convert the master bedroom into the living room and vice versa.

Ohh Detharella I hope you do rejoin!! It would be great to have you in the competition again. :D
Intentional hey dallasindc? pffft thats just a cover for the lazyness :P Hehe well I'm not changing a single wall/room function due to rules, but man I wish I could move the stairs... I hate stairs in the middle of homes blocking out views and just being mostly annoying.

PuX does moving the stairs (if you still keep them in the same room as Maxis did, count as a layout change?

I forgot my cc list.
There is something that was't Maxis Match. The Virgin Mary statue in the Goth cemetary is by Maylin @MTS2.
One OMS is by JBrenault (sp?), the rest are from Dot @N99 included in the N99 Maxis Match Mega Pack.
From the MM pack, used are single lace curtains, various rugs.
MM lap of luxary armchairs and Satanistic ottoman came from MTS2, don't remember the creators.
Windows are Independent Expressions recolored, there might be some by MaryLou 2 MTS2, also. Can't remember if I used any of hers or not anymore.
White iron fencing is a recolor of the Maxis stuff my cyclonesue?
Oops, forgot, the stairway on the first floor is by numenor?-- it's a remake of the steadfast or chic mod stairs.

Speaking of windows and doors, can we use the Georgian Manor House stuff made by phoenix faerie? I can't remember if she put Maxis Match on her stuff or not, but they do all match the Georgian build things Maxis has in game. And, do recolors of modular stairs, fences, railings, etc, count as MM if they were made form Maxis ones? Only a few things in those categories end up as recolor thumbs in the catalog, but the rest are obviously recolors of what's already there. I'm just wondering if we can use them and call them a Maxi Match -- not counted against our score as other custom content.

Beatdoc,

Deatherella, If it looks like you can slap it on a Maxis home without it looking out of place, then it's fine.

Hmm so I'm interpreting from the above that moving the stairs would 'take away' or alter the origional maxis floor plan. Darn... :D

Thanks, beatdoc. It was fun to figure out how to create a whole house out of half a house.

I got the 210, with the simestates link. Thank you for sticking it back in kattenijin.

Pux, the doors and windows I was talking about match the Georgian stuff in build mode. You'll see what I mean after I attack the bonus round. The Pleasant's are getting a whole new look at the moment.
