Begins 2.23.09
Ends 3.25.09 -Extended 2 days for judging purposes ONLY.

Hello, and Welcome to my first contest, (as a host), "My Girl". This contest is for Mothers and their daughters. Through the process of the rounds, we will all learn more and more about what your sim women do day to day, and about all the complications and joy along the way! Lets watch your sims spend heart to hearts, and fights here and there too!

So, lets get down to the requirements, shall we?!

-A Mother of any species, race, etc... (doesn't make a difference if she is married or not) Along with her Daughter (Just ONE daughter, as, this is all about a Mother / Daughter relationship.) Again, the daughter can be of the same, or different species or race, and, she doesn't have to even be the mothers biological daughter (she can be adopted).

-The Mother MUST be age "Adult"
-The Daughter MUST either be Child/Pre-teen or Teen.

-Each round will include a small segment of writing/explaining of the pictures. Don't worry though, I hate having minimum sentences, or forcing you to count your sentences (as some people like to talk . . . alot!), so, there will be NO minimum OR maximum amount of sentences required. All I ask is that you thoroughly explain your pictures, and keep the story rolling, whether it take you one sentence (unlikely though) or one-hundred sentences!

-Each round will have a certain amount of picture requirments. This might vary round to round, so, check for the requirements in the specific post.

-NO eliminations! The winner will just be whom every accumulates the most points, of course.

Well, I think that I covered everything dealing with the requirements now. Please ask me if you have a question about something I didn't mention.

JUDGING:
-During each round you will be judged on the following criteria:
--Picture Relevance / Quality (Don't mistake this for graphics quaility. Although High End Graphic Cards look better, a person who has to run with low graphics can still take pictures that look nice)
--Flow of Story
--How Interesting the Story line is
--Adherence to rules

Alright here my application, its my first time so if I do something wrong just let me know.

Name; Sophie Shine
-Age: 32
-Hi I am Sophie. When I was a little girl I always dreamed of a fairytale life. You know, a big house, a cute garden, a handsome husband and adorable children. When I was 16 I met Akil, he was all that I dreamed of, tall, nice smile dark hair, sparkling eyes. He was endearing and attentive. When I was 20 I got pregnant and our little daughter Candice was born. However sometime ago Akil and I started to have problems. It all turned out very nasty and I decided to end it all before it was too late. We never had married so there was nothing more to say. Now me and Candice we moved to Pleasentview in a very small house with just one bedroom. As you can imagine I never learned anything so I have to start form the scratch and I will do better, Candice should never end like me. Thats what I care for.

-Hi I'am Candice, am 12 years old and just moved with my Mom to Pleasentview. I hated moving since I had to leave all my friends behind, but even more did I hate to hear Mom and Dad arguing, am glad this is over. I wish that my Mom can laugh again like before, when I was little, we could have fun together again. We now live in a small house and I share the bedroom with my Mom, but thats OK. In my first week in our new house I already met some nice people, I think I will feel home soon.

Charley Baur
30 Years Old

I'm the happy mom of a son in college, and a baby girl, Fern. I only call her my baby girl, 'cause she'll always be my baby. Heheh. We live in a quaint two story house in the city, and I make a living as a professional ballroom dancer. The things that me an Fern enjoy doing together involve working in our little garden, and laughing together.

Fern Baur
8 Years Old

I'm in the third grade right now, and I'm proud of it! I'm kinda like the class clown, but I like to study hard too. My mom never got the chance to finish high school, so she really puts a lot of pressure on me, and my older brother to get a good education. My older brother, has recently graduated high school, so I know I can do it too. He's going to Sim State University, and is studying to get his bachelors in business, but he still comes home to see me a lot which is good, 'cause he's not just my brother, he's my best friend. When my brother isn't around, I like to hang out with my mom. We garden together, and cook together, and especially laugh together, and I couldn't ask for more.

Name: Lucy Collins
Age: 31

I always had an idea in my head of what my perfect life would be. That dream didn't include my sister being killed by a drunk driver. 9 years ago, when I was only 22 years old and fresh out of college, that's exactly what happened. Not only was I devastated by the death of my best friend in the world, I also was forced to take in my niece, Mia, who was only 6 years old at the time. Even though my life hasn't taken the route I always imagined, I love Mia to death and, thankfully, my painting has always made the difficult times seem somehow less difficult.

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/sharon-marie/snapshot_d6af1864_96b196e3.jpg

Name: Mia Collins
Age: 15

I'd always thought Aunt Lucy was the coolest person in the world, and when I moved in with her I was so excited. She let me eat ice cream for dinner (too bad that has changed...) and watch all the television shows my mom didn't like me to watch. What I didn't understand, however, was why I had moved in with Lucy to begin with. It has taken me a really long time to get over my mother's death, but I think I've finally found, well, peace. Even though I don't address Lucy as "Mom", I know she's done the best she can and I love her no matter what.

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/sharon-marie/snapshot_d6af1864_d6b194c1.jpg

Anyway, on a happier last note, this is a picture of me playing my guitar. I love that guitar. I play it way too much, and sometimes it gets the neighbors annoyed, but Lucy always listens (at least when I want her too!).

Payton Holden
Age: 38

I’ve always dreamed of becoming a mother and when I found out 17 years ago that I was expecting my first child, I was over the moon. When Ethan, my husband, and I found out the sex of our baby was a girl, I became even more anxious. My mother was amazing and I wasn’t sure how I would be able to cope with kids as well as she could, but the minute Addison came into this world I knew in my heart that I could do this. Now that she is a teenager, I still find myself with the same feeling as I did when I was pregnant, but I have faith I’ll get through these hectic years with my dignity.

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg231/cgirl90/Sims%202/Megahood/Holden/Addison%20Holden/AddisonHolden12.jpg

Addison Holden
Age: 17

My mom and I are complete opposites, to put it nicely. I’m really into nature and the outdoors, while my mother would rather be out shopping at the nearest H&M. I still love her though, she’s always there to listen to me when I’m upset or I’ve had a bad day at school. Ever since I can remember, she was always there for me, no matter what. She has always been on my side, even when I was wrong. I want to major is natural science; it’s something I’ve always wanted to do since I was young. While other girls wanted to play with dolls, I wanted to be outside hiking or catching butterflies. I guess you could say that I’m not your average girl.

Round 1
“Getting To Know Us”
2/27/09 – 3/7/09

We have all met your sim Mom & Daughter, but, we really don't know who they are. Yeah, we know where they live, if they are adopted or not, and such, but, who are they, really? Is your mother sim actually an undercover spy? Does your daughter sim have a thing for one of the townies? Just who are they?

In this round, I wont you to let the cat out of the bag! Expose your sims embarrassing or honoring facts about them. Under all the maxis traits and skills, all sims have their human like side; lets explore your sims.

For this round, please provide a MINIMUM of 4 pictures. That's 2 for the mother, and 2 for the daughter. You may have a maximum of 8 pictures (4 for mother, 4 for daughter).

For the writing requirements, as stated in the first post, is at minimum 1 sentence per photo, HOWEVER, if you choose to write that short of a description, it must describe the picture thoroughly. However, I don't actually think that you will be able to write such a small amount, but, you never know! There is no maximum writing requirements, so, the more the better.

Photoshoping and sim pose is allowed, but not necessary.

Have fun, and, anyone who would like to join, still can. You have until the end of this round to submit your applications & round 1.

clw8, do you want me resign as a judge to become a contestant instead? That would be one more person.

On another note, there's no Ozzfest this year eithr, but Rock Fest here in my state will be having SlipKnot and Korn. Whew, ain't we the lucky ones this summer?

Okay, I'll change over to a contestant. Not sure how long it'll be before I get the ap and first round in, but it'll be before the due date.
I think all my moms with children have adopted ones in-house at the moment, so I might use one of them or make up a new family and see what they can tell me about themselves.

I love Ozzy, too, ever since my older sister brought home the first Black Sabbath album many moons ago. I've seen that man stagger, stand straight, bite the heads off birds, all kinds of stuff. Sat on the edge of his stage once, too. But my favorite show was two Halloween's ago when he paired up with Rob Zombie. I never saw him look so good, move so good, and his performance was outstanding.

Shaeh Stillwater
"29" (She likes to lie about her age . . . She's really 31.)

Shaeh and her high school sweetheart ran away and got married -- lying about their ages -- when they found themselves pregnant. After living on the outskirts of Pleasantville for many years of "wedded bliss", her husband, Drake, asked her to leave. With her daughter, Avalon, she's setting up a new household and looking for work.

Shaeh Stillwater

Avalon Stillwater
16 years old High Schooler

Avalon is a little confused as to why her mom suddenly picked up stakes and moved her out of their quiet rural family home. Avalon's been a good student most of her life and hopes to get into college -- but how? Now that her and her mom are on there own, how can they afford it? And why couldn't they bring the piano with them when they moved? And who's that cute boy that keeps walking past their new home?

{Quality of my pictures is not so good at the moment, not sure what is wrong, sorry! But I hope otherwise this is what you had in mind?]

So you want to know more about me and my Daughter? Ok.

I love to be a Mom, every evening before bedtime I sit down with Candice and we read in a book of her choice. I think it is important to have this Quality time together. I feel that since it is only me and her now, I have to show her that she is my priority and that she can trust in me. I hope that we will not only be mother and daughter but also really good friends.
http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt183/aba23_photo/Momreadsforcandice-1.jpg

When I left Candice father I was not sure how we would be able to manage all obstacles of life and how Candice would take the new environment. But since the day we moved in we met so many nice people, its overwhelming. Take Ben House, he lives across the street and comes twice a week to help Candice with her homework. They became good friends and I believe I saw some stars in Candice eyes one day when she looked at him. I guess she feels a bit lonely as only child and a big brother figure like Kyle is helping her.
http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt183/aba23_photo/Kyleandcandicehomework-1.jpg

Beside that we do have time for hobbies of course, Candice has two big hobbies which she loves to do - one is reading and the other one is painting. Her paintings do not look very promising yet but she has fun doing it. My little girl is a mix of a tomboy and a young lady. She often plays football with Ben and she is good and rough, and in the other minute she is this innocent little girl again which loves to paint. Am I getting sentimental?
http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt183/aba23_photo/Candicedrawing.jpg

I am an athlete and that is not only my Job now but also my biggest hobby at the moment. I try to start to learn about Cuisine but raising Candice, go to work and work out everyday already cost me much of my energy. Don't get me wrong, I am much happier in my life then I was a year ago, even if we have to spare a lot of things.
http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt183/aba23_photo/Momshobby-1.jpg

We had a good start in our new life, I hope that Candice and I will enjoy her few years of childhood. All I want is to see her grow up well. She has not decided yet what she wants to do. I hope Candice can go to College, she would then study biology, I believe. Our life is good, but I certainly do have a wish or a dream for which I am working. The dream is right across the street and I stare at it everyday>

Name: Jubilee Randall
Age: 38

When I was my daughter's age, I would never have even dreamed about having children. Guys were still 'icky' and I cringed at the thought of falling in love. But then I met Joel. He was the sweetest guy I had ever met, and we fell in love immediately. From the moment I met him, I knew he was the one I wanted to be with forever. At the age of nineteen, he proposed to me. We were married six months later. Unlike me, he had always dreamed of having kids, and was determined to have as many as possible. As much as I didn't want children, I loved Joel and would do anything for him. Four years later, at age twenty-three, we had Juniper. She was the most beautiful baby girl I had ever seen. She had my eyes, Joel's hair and skin, and my nose. I was ecstatic to be a mother and even more exited that she was a part of both Joel and I. We were a big happy family for the longest time. But little did we know, that would all change. When Juniper was just a mere 8 year old, her father passed away. He was brutally murdered. Juniper and I were devastated. Through the death of my beloved husband, Juniper and I bonded closer than ever. We help each other through the pain and suffering going on inside of us. Even though it hurts, the two of us stay strong. I'm very lucky to have Juniper here by my side. She is truly the best daughter any mother could wish for.

I love my mom. Sure, we may get into fights over the most random things, scream at each other, and just plain get on each others nerves at times. But she is the best friend I have ever had, and always will be. When my dad died, I felt so empty and alone. At first, I couldn't quite comprehend the extend of what was going on. I didn't understand why anyone would want to hurt my daddy. Then one day it hit me: My dad is gone. I am never going to see him again. I burst into tears and didn't speak to anyone for weeks. The only thing I could think about is the way he would tickle me until I couldn't laugh anymore, the way he always told the most hilarious jokes, and the way he made my mother smile. Though my mom tried to hide it from me, I knew she was sad. She wasn't fooling me by her happy facade. She cried all of the time. During the years after Daddy's death, we helped each other cope with the pain. Through all of that, we've become the closest we've ever been. I don't know what I would do if I lost her, too.

I will be the first to admit it. I'm not the best mother, I expect a lot out of my kids, and sometimes they are left to fend for themselves. Yes, it sounds a little harsh, but that's how things are with me. When I found out I was pregnant at the age of 15 my first reaction was abortion. When my parents decided they wouldn't let me, I decided on adoption. I just did not want my baby. Nine months later, I was looking into those beautiful brown eyes and I just could not let her go. My baby, my flesh, my blood. She was mine and I felt I had to keep her. The next 14 years the have followed have been difficult, I will be the first to admit. My lifestyle has changed so much, but I thank the heavens that my girl has taken responsibility of things I just can't seem to do. She is the crutch I lean on everyday.

Everyone often tells me that I do too much. That I should be out having fun, being a normal teenager. With a mother like mine, however, there really is no time. Ever since I can remember, my mother has been a fighter. She has done her best to provide shelter, food, and clothing for me. Yes she parties, she falls for the wrong guys, and she isn't always home, but she provides and she loves me unconditionally. Thus, I do the same for her. One day it will be my turn to let loose, but for now I'm completely happy making sure my mom lives out the adolescence she never had. People don't get it, but it's my life.

ROUND I
GETTING TO KNOW US

The Baur household, is a household that believes that drive, and determination, can accomplish anything.

Fern

I kick anything and everything.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/HEART_shapedballoon/I-Clickyjpg.jpg (http://pics.livejournal.com/hell_sings/pic/0001etrp)

CLICK

I like kicking lawn chickens, I like kicking dollhouses, and I like kicking bully hiney, especially when she pulls the four eyes joke, that is so dated...I like kicking her hiney twice. However, as enjoyable as I think this habit is, the folks think otherwise.

I'm currently grounded, until further notice. Though, there has been some good in getting into trouble, if that's possible. I've actually begun putting my kicking skills to good use, that doesn't involve breaking any rules. Which is always good.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/HEART_shapedballoon/II-Clickyjpg.jpg (http://pics.livejournal.com/hell_sings/pic/0001f4tc)

CLICK

I joined the school soccer team, and I couldn't be any happier. My mom, has never really been a huge sports fan, but she actually doesn't mind coming to my games. She says she's proud of me, and it isn't 'cause I'm winning trophies, or scoring goals, it's because I took a negative and turned it into a possitive, and possibly even a future. I had the drive, and determination to get out of being cooped up in the house, but now I realize to accomplish anything, I have to put it to good use, like my leg. Heheh.

Charley

I never really liked high school. The peer pressure, the drama, the teachers. However, if I did like anything about those years, it was probably this aspiration I had of being a ballerina.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/HEART_shapedballoon/-Clickyjpg.jpg (http://pics.livejournal.com/hell_sings/pic/0001h52s)

CLICK

My parents couldn't afford to send me to dance school, and they didn't really think I could commit to it, since I really couldn't commit to anything else, especially school. Though, that didn't stop me.

I learned all of the necessities by watching TV, and renting DVDs, and working at the local theatre, to get free tickets for the opera. Then there was Lucian. I put out an ad in the school newpaper, needing somebody to practice with, and play the piano while I was on stage, just before the big talent show. He loved to just watch me, and that was payment enough...and it eventually turned into more, much more.

Dancing gave me everything. Joy and a boyfriend, but the funny thing was...it never asked for anything in return. I had to repay it, I had to let it fill others with the feeling it gave me. I wanted to give dance importance, and even though I had to stop for a little while, to raise my children, I knew I'd do it again, and I knew that, that feeling would be the same.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/HEART_shapedballoon/2-Clickyjpg.jpg (http://pics.livejournal.com/hell_sings/pic/0001g4sk)

CLICK

So I did. Fern convinced me to open up a school for underprivelaged teenage girls, to see, and experience what I felt, when I was their age. Lucian still plays that piano, and I couldn't be any happier.

I don't purposely mean to double post, or to bump up my contest by any means. This is just a friendly little reminder that Round 1 is due tomorrow. If anyone shall need an extension, I need to know before 10:30 pm tonight (Eastern US time). Also, I only have until this coming monday to keep applications open, so, 3 more people really DO need to join. Also, judges be on hand tomorrow to be ready to send in Round 1 scores, unless this round is granted an extension (which looks like is what's going to happen, pitifully). Judges may go ahead and score the two applications submitted if they would like to.

Thanks to those who have tried to participate in this competition. For the rest, please, just submit your stuff, or ask for an extension! I would hate to have to eliminate all but 2 contestants because no one came back to compete.

Lucy: As a chef, I never got to spend as much time with Mia as I would have liked to. She was often left at our apartment, watched by whoever I could get a hold of, while I worked the horrible hours of a chef who was only beginning. That's one thing I really regret when I think back on how I've taken care of Mia.

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/sharon-marie/snapshot_d6af1864_d6b6fcd2.jpg

Mia: I never felt lonely, though. My best friends Lilly (center) and Gavin (right, who is now my boyfriend) were always there for me. Not that Lucy hasn't been there enough, or anything. I don't want to give that impression!
L: I know what you mean.

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/sharon-marie/snapshot_d6af1864_96b6fb11.jpg

L: Plus, whenever I was away, you got to practice the piano and the guitar even more. Mia's an excellent piano player. I think she's going to get a college scholarship or something. Or at least she should!
M: Yeah, I am pretty good!
L: Way to have an ego, Mia.
M: I do not have an ego. Geez.

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/sharon-marie/snapshot_d6af1864_96b8612d.jpg

M: Anyway, I do think I know where I got my creativity from. Lucy's always in her bedroom painting on that easel of hers. She's really good. After my mom died, Lucy did this portrait of her, and it was so good that it actually got put up at the local art gallery! So now I can go see my mom whenever I want to.
L: Yes, that was most definitely my finest work; but, most of my paintings are pretty amazing.
M: And you called me egotistical?!

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/sharon-marie/snapshot_d6af1864_56b8623d.jpg

L: Well, I don't believe I'm the one who stares at myself in the mirror all day.
M: Just because I like to shop and have daydreams of being a model does not mean that I am egotistical.
L: Oh, don't get all mad. I'm sorry.
M: I'm sorry too.

L: As you can see, we have a complicated relationship. We don't talk like mother and daughter; it's more like sister to sister. We fight like sisters, and we love each other like sisters. I would like to learn how to be more of a mother figure to her, however.

(Note: I hope the way I wrote this was alright)

Round 1: Getting To Know Us (Payton and Addison Holden)

Payton Holden

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg231/cgirl90/Sims%202/Megahood/Holden/Payton%20Holden/PaytonHolden22.jpg

I'm a clean freak and love to look my best. Addison teases me for primping all the time, but I can't help it! It's just the way I am! So in a way, you could say I'm a perfectionist of sorts.

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg231/cgirl90/Sims%202/Megahood/Holden/Payton%20Holden/PaytonHolden42.jpg

Like a lot of women, I love to shop. I made Addison come with me and she started taking pictures of me with her cell phone. Some of them turned out terrible but this one was pretty decent.

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg231/cgirl90/Sims%202/Megahood/Holden/Payton%20Holden/PaytonHolden32.jpg

I am horrible when it comes to nature and outdoors type activities. I thought it was cat, but turns out it was skunk and it sprayed me! I smelled so bad after, I just wanted to take a shower.

Addison Holden

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg231/cgirl90/Sims%202/Megahood/Holden/Addison%20Holden/AddisonHolden22.jpg

I know that I've already said this, but I am a nature freak! I have a whole bug collection just sitting in my room and I am so proud of myself for filling the whole thing up! I never knew that I made such weird faces when I'm bug catching, well not before my mom took some pictures of me doing it. I look so in the zone and concentrated.

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg231/cgirl90/Sims%202/Megahood/Holden/Addison%20Holden/AddisonHolden32.jpg

I'm shy, however, as soon as my parents leave the room I just love to dance like a mad woman. I'm a terrible dancer and I can't count the amount of times I have fallen over from me attempting to "spin".

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg231/cgirl90/Sims%202/Megahood/Holden/Addison%20Holden/AddisonHolden42.jpg

I hate exercising. A lot. I'm one of the most inactive people out there, compared to my mom who has a whole gym membership. When she asked me to do some yoga with her, I wasn't really into the idea and you can tell by the look on my face, that I really didn't want to join in. I did anyways and ended up falling on my face.

I guess you could call me a typical teenage girl. Well if you call being boyfriendless, unpopular, and a social outcast typical. I hardly ever go to class. What's the point? I'm not interested in what my teachers have to say. Don't tell mom, though. She's always saying how important a good education can be. I don't want to dissapoint her, but I'd much rather be outside guessing shapes in the clouds, than be in a classroom.

Round 1: Getting to Know Us
Jubilee & Juniper Randall

Jubilee:

Juniper, or June-bug as I like to call her, has the life I always wanted to have as a teenager. She has this adorable boyfriend named Adam. He comes over at least twice a week. They are pretty much inseparable. I don't mind of course, as he treats her very well.

http://i44.tinypic.com/140eo08.jpg

She adores animals, and they love her back. You'll always find her cuddling with strays, no matter how smelly they are. She aspires to be a veterinarian someday. I remember a time about three years ago, she brought this weird looking dog into our house. It was smelly and shed everywhere. She spent days begging for me to let her keep him. I eventually caved. However, Sprinkles died around a year later. Poor thing. Her current obsession is cats.

http://i39.tinypic.com/28v66i9.jpg

June-bug loves basketball. She plays for her school team, and is pretty amazing at it if I do say so myself. She practices a lot; at least an hour a day. Adam also plays for the school, so sometimes he comes over to practice with her.

http://i41.tinypic.com/2eaksx1.jpg

She loves The Beatles, is a coffee addict, and puts hot sauce on everything. She has an amazing singing voice, but sadly, the only person she will ever sing to is her shower head. She does have a bit of an attitude at times, but I still love her anyway.

---------------------------

Juniper: My mom definitely doesn't give herself enough credit. She is the coolest mom ever. When she was three, she moved to Earth from a whole other galaxy! How many people can say that about their parents? She's a very fun-loving and outgoing person. She always has fun no matter what the circumstances. Some people tell her she doesn't take life seriously enough, and that she has the mind of a child. It's quite funny, really, because she takes life very seriously since Daddy died.

http://i40.tinypic.com/28atabn.jpg

We go shopping together a lot. She has great taste in clothing. I end up raiding her wardrobe most of the time. The pants are a bit long, but the shirts fit great. She's also a photographer, which makes her even more amazing. She sells her photographs in studios, which earns us extra cash.

http://i39.tinypic.com/25zqycj.jpg

My mom is hilarious. She can often be found pigging out on cookie dough and jumping on the couch when she thinks I'm not looking. I'm just thankful she's not one of those boring parents all of my friends seem to have. She's more than a mom to me, she's a friend.

http://i41.tinypic.com/23lljwp.jpg

But, despite her goofy exterior, she is very sensitive on the inside. She often bursts out into tears, longing for Dad. She’s also really self conscious about the color of her skin. I don't know why though. Everyone thinks its awesome. Through everything that has happened to us, she has stayed strong. I love her for that.

By the way, I don’t have that bad of an attitude. ;)

Jenna: Well, my first hobby is singing, I take singing lessons, I have been since i was 5. I even made it to American Idol, even though i didn't win, i will be going back when i'm older (since paula and simon didn't think i was old enough). My mommy and daddy say i sing very well. My idol is Taylor Swift and I want to be just like her. I also model and compete in beauty pageants. Someday i will be famous as a model AND singer and make a lot of money to buy all the shoes and purses i want :)

When i'm not being such a girly-girl i love playing outside with my best friend Kendra, pretending we are pirates or cowboys or anything really. I can tell her anything in the whole wide world. We have sleepovers every weekend, and we promised to be eachothers bridesmaids at our weddings when we grow up!

http://i41.tinypic.com/x374ih.jpg

Cassidy: Oh, how Jenna would kill me if she knew I was showing this picture. Our little neighbor Noah has a huge crush on Jenna. As all the boys at her school do. He comes over a lot since i am very good friends with his parents. I took this photo at just the right time, Noah was trying to kiss Jenna and she giggled and tried to get away. I think she wanted to kiss him :) she was just embarassed.

http://i41.tinypic.com/219z9mf.jpg

Jenna: My mommy loves looking good, she says the way you look and carry yourself says a lot about the person you are. so before she goes to bed EVERY night she puts this lotion stuff on her face, she says it gets rid of pimples. I always thought she looked funny with that stuff on, so one night I snuck into the shower and surprised her with a flash of my camera!

http://i44.tinypic.com/11a8gzp.jpg

Cassidy: I am a stay at home mom, which means i make breakfast for my husband and my daughter every morning before they go to work and school. I pack the lunches, I make the dinner, I do the laundry and the cleaning. I love my job, i love taking care of the people i love most.

http://i42.tinypic.com/4lm441.jpg

Cassidy: I am VERY close with my husband. We met while I was traveling in Italy, we hit it off right from the start, so i brought him home to the states with me after 3 years of a long distance relationship. We go out on every Wednesday night (that's our night). 13 years later and still very much in love.

http://i42.tinypic.com/2qbt9a1.jpg

Jenna: Something me and my mom do together is my school work. She helps me everyday, she says education is very important if i want to be independent. My mom makes sure I know everything that i did from my homework, we go over it 2 times. It's annoying, but I know she wants what's best for me.
Cassidy: Yes, I help Jenna with all of her school work, she's a very smart little girl, she brings home A+'s all of the time, my husband and I were truly gifted.

hope you enjoyed our little family :)

Round 2: Girls Day Out
3/6/09 – 3/11/09

In this round, tell all about what your mother / daughter pair like to do/did on a “girls day out”. This can be something simple, that they do frequently, OR something that they only got to experience once or twice. The possibilities are endless, and by no means does it have to be something generic, like shopping (but, I don't want to step on anyones toes, so, if you were planning on using this idea, then still feel free to do so {there's more than one thing to shop for!}).

For this round, I'd like at minimum 4 pictures of this “event”. At maximum, I prefer no more than 6. If you have loads of things you'd like to share, feel free to create collages. 1 collage counts as 1 picture. So, in reality, you could have tons of pictures, depending on how many pictures you stick in 1 collage. So, don't feel held back if you really like to take pictures!

As for the writing part, as you already know, I do not care how many sentences, as long as you can thoroughly explain the pictures / story. The writing can be from either perspective (or both). Or, if you'd like, you can have a narrator speak.

As in the last round, photoshop and simpose are fine to use, but, not required by any means.

Have fun, and try to get them in by the 11th, so that this contest can stay on the original 1 month schedule. However, if anyone (or multiple people) need an extension, please ask well in advance (at least 24 hours before the deadline)

Once more, Have fun!!!

Karlotte Vatne
Age 27
Bio: With all that Viking blood in running in her veins, Karlotte is stubborn and hot-headed. She grew up in a large family, as the third child of eight, and maybe that’s why she always seeks to be in the middle of attention – something that was not so easy in her childhood years. She has, however, the full attention of her husband Mons, who loves her dearly.

Karlotte Vatne

Malfrid Vatne
Age 11
Bio: Malfrid is the older of (so far) two children, and since they are born only 10 months apart, they are often considered as twins, even if they are not. Malfrid doesn’t care much about going to school, and probably wouldn’t do any homework at all, if her mother didn’t help her with it. She is a bit sensitive, and sometimes wakes up with nightmares. That’s why her father sometimes has to sleep in the kid’s room in the attic.

Some days are not easy at all. In the morning the tub broke down and we had to get a repairman. The children were fighting instead of eating their breakfast.. Malfrid tried to find all kinds of excuses not to go to school. Well, that happens every day when I think about it. Anyway, it became worse. My old friend Aminde, that I haven’t seen for ages - since I’m stuck up here in the house with children and housework- called out of the blue. It was so nice to hear her voice! She told me she has been living in the city for some time now, and that she is working as a dancer at a very respectable ensemble.

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims%20contest/Malfrid09.jpg
It made me think about my own life, my dreams and hopes, and what has become of it. It made me kind of depressed, because I felt my life was passing so quickly, and I realized I hadn’t danced for ages. Me! Who only a few years ago was one of the most talented dancers in our area? But then I met Mons, and everything changed.

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims%20contest/Malfrid03.jpg
Now it is washing dishes, making beds, helping the kids with homework, serving meals. What’s it all for? At one point I wanted to run away from it all, just to start fresh, without responsibility, just to live life and have fun with friends.

I was abrupt in my thinking when Malfrid came home from school. She got a D again! I explained to her how bad this was, and promised that we would buy that cat if she just tried working harder at school. My heart is bleeding for her, and I see how she struggles with the homework; it really is not her thing.

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims%20contest/Malfrid06.jpg
(Karlotte): But she is such a sweet girl in so many ways! Kind to everybody, smiling most of the time (except when doing homework), and that smile can melt an iceberg! I wouldn’t leave her for a million dances, what was I thinking about?? But maybe I will invite myself to visit Aminde for a couple of days, the city is not that far away, and I miss her so much.
Well that was my thaughts of the day - now I have to help my little girl with her homework!

(Malfrid): I had the worst day ever. From the morning my brother wouldn’t stop teasing me, and although I had planned to do some homework from yesterday, I couldn’t with him being so irritating. It got worse in school. I didn’t understand a thing from the science class and my teacher was very annoyed, giving me a lesson in front of the class. But worst of all, Harald, that stupid guy from 8th grade was running after me during the whole break. I HATE SCHOOL!

I couldn’t wait to come home to my mum; she is my favorite person in the whole world. She is so pretty, and sometimes does crazy things, like building a snowman even if she has work to do! Or just sit on the coach talking, even if I know she’s really busy.

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims%20contest/Malfrid10.jpg
My mum explained to me that my problems with the schoolwork were really serious, and that our whole family could be in trouble, and in the worst case they could take me away from my mum. This is my greatest fear! Once I heard granddad tell her that she wasn’t a good mother, and that she shouldn’t have had kids at all, with her modern ways. My mum said “you old fart”, but I don’t think granddad heard it. And it so not true! My mum is the best mum there is! When I know she didn’t see it, because I didn’t want to make her sad, I cried about the whole thing, and knew I had to do something.

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims%20contest/Malfrid11.jpg
So I asked my mum to help me out, and she did. It was difficult, but then I understood the Pythagoras sentences, and it was like a big victory! I felt so proud!

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims%20contest/Malfrid13.jpg
I have some hopes now, that I will be able – with my mum’s help – to get my grades up. And do you know what? She promised me that we could buy a kitten if I get an A next term! That is really something to look forward to!

"Getting to Know Us" by the Commentator with a head cold and a brain cramp.

They say stillwater runs deep, but things might be a little shallow around here . . .

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/Round%201/R1-Avalon-1.jpg

"Oh, Mom! You gotta be kidding! No, no, no. It's a big fat tin can. The sun reflects off it. Mom, you can't seriously intend for us to live in that!"

Apparently someone doesn't like her new living arrangements. Apparently someone has had it too good in life and thinks it should all be a bed of roses. Well, Avalon, sweetie, you better hope the bluebird of happiness isn't flying overhead about now.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/Round%201/R1-Avalon-3.jpg

"Dad, can we pleeeeeeease come back home? You should see the dump Mom moved us into. It's awful. I want to come home. Please. How can you and Mom fix what's wrong if you don't even talk to eachother? I don't want to live here . . . "
"Yes, I love Mom and want to be with her. But we both need you, too. Can't we all be a family again?"
". . . a surprise for me after school? Oh, thank you, Daddy."

Avalon hangs up the phone and skips off to school believing in her heart that her surprise will be Dad coming to collect her and her mom, bringing them back to the life they once knew, saving them from this horrid new home.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/Round%201/R1-Shaeh-1.jpg

"Hmmmmmmm. This place just needs a little work. I wish there were some way I could make Avalon happy but until I have a chunk of change, we're stuck in this rat-trap. I wonder what I can do . . . "

The wheels are turning in Shaeh's head. As far as she's concerned, this is just a pit stop along the way to a better life.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/Round%201/R1-Shaeh-2.jpg

Oops. In an attempt to brighten Avalon's mood, Shaeh had planned on having a favorite meal ready and waiting afterschool. Not today. Shaeh's really going to have to work on her cooking skills now that she doesn't have a husband to do it for her anymore. Speaking of said ex-husband-to-be, Shaeh had overheard Avalon's conversation with him that morning and is hoping her daughter won't be crushed when she finds out her father won't be there after school today or any day. But his old piano will be.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/Round%201/R1-Shaeh-3.jpg

"Oh! I was so worried you didn't get my message with the new number. Yes, I can work. 24-7 if need be. I really need to earn some cash. Sure, I'll be right over. Lookin' forward to it."

"Avalon, honey, Momma's gotta go do some work tonight. You'll be fine here by yourself, won't you?"

"What kind of work, Mom?"

"Oh, just some work for a nice man I've known for years. If he keeps calling and having me come in, I'll earn enough money for us to be out of this dump in no time. Now, you be a good girl and do your homework and then maybe you can go outside and meet some of the neighbors to make new friends."

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/Round%201/R1-Avalon-2.jpg

"How can I do my homework when all I can think about is how much I hate life right now? At least my dad gave me his old piano so I won't have to give up music. But this homework --- blarggghhhh!!! Why bother? It's not like my mom can afford to send me to college anymore. It's so stuffy in this room. I think I will go outside like Mom said."

Avalon did, indeed, go out to pout on the porch. That pretty pout got her the attention of several walkers-by. Before she knew it, she was surrounded by a handful of men who wanted to get to know the new girl on the block. Avalon thought it was especially nice of that handsome Don Lothario to run home and fetch a keg so they could have an impromtu party.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/Round%201/R1-Avalon-4.jpg

"Am I doing it right, Don? I never drank punch before."

Wasn't very long for Avalon to go from feeling like a lost sheep to the belle of the ball with the neighborhood wolves on her like flies on . . . I mean like wolves on sheep.
Avalon remembered that Mom had said to smile pretty and men will forget everything else and do anything you want which came in quite handy after a few bouts of punch chugging. She so loved having one man holding her up on each side. So warm and cozy. Don stood before her caressing her cheek, saying, "I'm so happy to meet you. There are so many more new things I'd like to show you . . . "

Speaking of Mom, the smile endorser, where is she again?

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/Round%201/R1-Shaeh-4.jpg

Oh, my. What have we here? I think we know why Shaeh smiled as she spoke her honeyed words before she walked out the door in her last chapter of life. I think we know why her ex decided to "crack the whip" a little himself.

Round 2 - Girls Day Out (Payton and Addison Holden)

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg231/cgirl90/Sims%202/Megahood/Holden/Payton%20and%20Addison%20Holden/PaytonandAddisonHolden42.jpg

Payton: For our day out we decided to spend it at the beach.
Addison: It was an activity that we actually agreed on. I was in shock!
Payton: I'm just going to ignore that. So we decided to build a sandcastle, however, it didn't turn out like a sandcastle. It was more like a blob of sand with little towers poking out of it.
Addison: I thought it was a master piece!

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg231/cgirl90/Sims%202/Megahood/Holden/Addison%20Holden/AddisonHolden52.jpg

Addison: So after we finished building our master piece, I decided to comb the beach for seashells. I got a little more then I bargained for though.
Payton: Best. Picture. EVER.
Addison: The evil little thing made my finger bleed!

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg231/cgirl90/Sims%202/Megahood/Holden/Payton%20Holden/PaytonHolden52.jpg

Payton: While she spent her time getting her finger chopped off by a crab, I took the time to read a book.
Addison: Was it one of those cheesy romance novels again?
Payton: Maybe.

Payton: To end our day, we decided to play our absolute favorite game ...
Addison: Water Balloon Fight. BRING IT ON OLD LADY!
Payton: Who you calling old lady?!

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg231/cgirl90/Sims%202/Megahood/Holden/Addison%20Holden/AddisonHolden62.jpg

Addison: Here's me attempting the Matrix moves, after mom almost hit me.
Payton: NOW WHO'S THE OLD LADY?!
Addison: ...

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg231/cgirl90/Sims%202/Megahood/Holden/Payton%20Holden/PaytonHolden62.jpg

Addison: Dear Mom,
Please stop doing your Madonna imitation. It scares people, like me.
Love, Addison
Payton: You have got to admit, I'm pretty flexible for my age.
Addison: How old are you again?
Payton: Let's not discuss that right now.

Romey: Time went be so quickly on our day out. As it started to get dark, Farrah and I decided to grab a quick bite to eat, and then head home.

Here are the Round 1 scores and comments. At the end is the current standings. Remember, the winner of this contest is the one with the most points. Also, another reminder to anyone wishing to submit a prize for the winner, you can still do so. :)

Scores from: Tree4me

Contestant: aba23
Pic score: 2 out of 5
Flow score: 2.5 out of 5 (am I allowed to do that?)
Interest: 3 out of 5
Rules: 5 out of 5
Total: 12.5 out of 20
Comments: I am aware of when aba did say that his picture quality was very low at the moment, and I did take that into question. The poses and such could've been better.
The flow, I felt, was inconsistent. It was hard to understand some of the writing as a result. Due to the flow, I found it... forgettable. (I'm sorry, aba.)
However, I loved his adherence to the rules. He followed the minimum requirements, and followed all the rules. Well done, aba.

Contestant: singing_Noel
Pic score: 5 out of 5
Flow Score: 4.5 out of 5
Interest: 5 out of 5
Rules: 5 out of 5
Total: 19.5 out of 20
Comments: Definitely the best so far. I love the use of collage to show the pictures, and they were all taken so well. It flowed well. It could’ve been a little better, but it was great! These two factors made it very interesting, and adherence to the rules was good too.
Amazing job, Noel.

Contestant: <3Jenny<3
Pic Score: 3 out of 5
Flow score: 3 out of 5
Interest: 3 out of 5
Rules: 5 out of 5
Total: 14 out of 20
Comments: The pictures were very pixelled, as if they had been expanded in paint or GiMP. The flow was okay, and the creative aspect of it was great, but it could've been better.
It was interesting, that was good. I enjoyed it, but I think it could be better. But, she followed all the rules, and I am glad she did that. You did a great job, Jenny.

Contestant: Cheese
Pic score: 4 out of 5
Flow score: 4 out of 5
Interest: 5 out of 5
Rules: 5 out of 5
Total: 18 out of 20
Comments: Cheese's round 1 piece was great! It is definitely something I will remember. The flow was great, and I was very, very interested in that. Her pictures were very funny and suited well to what she wrote.
Great job, Cheese!

Contestant: Deatherella
Pic Score: 4.5 out of 5
Flow Score: 5 out of 5
Interest: 5 out of 5
Rules: 5 out of 5
Total: 19.5 out of 20
Comments: Deatherella has done a brilliant job with Round One. The best part was that the story is unique, and is written as a story, and not an interview. The rules were followed to the last word, which was really good. Great job!

Contestant: alliemaree2323
Pic Score: 3 out of 5
Flow Score: 4 out of 5
Interest: 3 out of 5
Rules: 5 out of 5
Total: 15 out of 20
Comments: First things first, pictures. What turned me off the pictures were the GUID lines, and that was a shame, because the pictures weren't that bad.
The story flowed well, and some of the things were humorous. She followed the rules well, also.

Contestant: hale
Pic score: 3 out of 5
Flow score: 4 out of 5
Interest: 5 out of 5
Rules: 5 out of 5
Total: 17 out of 20
Comments: Hale's work was very different, which earned her a high interest score. I don't think I have come across another one as heartfelt as that. The pictures could have been better, but the rest was virtually flawless! Great job, Hale!

Contestant: Ashilieee_x3
Pic score: 3 out of 5
Flow Score: 2.5 out of 5
Interest: 3 out of 5
Rules: 5 out of 5
Total: 13.5 out of 20
Comments: Okay, so this round probably wasn’t quite for her, but she did a good job. The one thing I am not very pleased with is she didn’t show her full potential. The pictures could have been a little better. There were a few “lol” moments, but, it wasn’t the best to her ability. I know she can do even better than she did.

Contestant: KyriaT
Pic Score: 2.5 out of 5
Flow Score: 3 out of 5

Oh I am the last - well I will see what I can do, don't have photoshop thats definitley a minus in such contests I see. I have GIMP but that does not work well for me either I see. Hmmh

aba23 - You need neither photoshop nor Gimp for this contest :) If you are worried of your photo quaility, setting your games' picture quality to high, and photo size on large already works maricles. Also, if you get a free screen shot program (or use print-screen, though that only works for one pic at a time) then you have just as good as chance as anyone else who doesn't photoshop :) Also, I do mention in the judging that I don't want pictures judged on who has the crispest looking pic, as, I know that not everyone has a way to make pics look out of this world. :)

Also, turning your games graphics up to atleast medium (or high if you can) is a good thing too.... even if you just leave it there to take a picture. As, some peoples computers lag if they leave it at high.

aba23: I don't have photoshop either. I found these free programs online, and they work pretty well for me if you'd like to give them a try.
I use Irfan View, and PhotoScape. I could get you the links if you'd like.

First things first, pictures. What turned me off the pictures were the GUID lines, and that was a shame, because the pictures weren't that bad.
The story flowed well, and some of the things were humorous. She followed the rules well, also.

I know I probably sound like a total noob in asking this, but what are GUID lines? Sorry if this is a silly question.. but I'd like to know so I don't mess up my pictures next time. :)

Ashilieee, I am aware you are disappointed with your score, but I feel that I was really strict, and I think it is only fair that I give you a reason.

The pictures - There is nothing too bad about your photo's, in fact, they aren't bad at all, but the "American Idol" background was very bright and deterring, and that kind of impacted on the score, in my opinion. I suggest for the next round to stay away from taking photo's at night, or in dark areas and make up for it with lots of lighting, because it makes it even harder to see. Your daytime photos, however, were pretty good.

The writing - Too many grammar and spelling errors for my liking, and some of the sentences I couldn't understand. Some bits didn't make sense either, like when you said that Jenny, a ten year old, made it to American Idol. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you need to be AT LEAST sixteen to be in American Idol. If it doesn't make sense, the score goes down, if I am judging.

Again, I am really sorry, but if you work on these things, I am sure you will get a higher score next time, and I am sorry for being so strict with it all.

Oh, and alliemaree, the GUID lines are the gridlines that you see in buy and build mode. I suggest either taking pictures in live mode or in the options menu, like with the other pictures you took. ;)

Oh, wow. I feel so incredibly dumb *bangs head against desk*. I didn't even notice that I had taken one of the pictures in buy mode. Sorry about that! Thanks for the quick reply. :)

Hello all.
I do hope that the judges have aided in understanding your scores, and, I hope that no one is put down by what they got. (I, for one, know how it is to get last place in contests, because just about every contest I'm in, I'm in the bottom places.) But hey, you where just getting a taste of what to expect, I suppose!

I am also, like you all, happy that my judges have been so prompt with their scores! Never did I expect them to go up in less than 24 hrs of the rounds closing :)

Well, I do hope that everyone can get in their round 2's by wednesday, but, remember, if their is any problem with this set date, please ask for an extension, but just know that the next round will be posted on wednesday also. :)

Thanks everyone :)

ashilieee. I haven't retouched any photo's for a contest for ages, but when all you want to do is fix the blare or contrast, dig out your cd's from getting pics developed at WalMart (if you ever have) and on the older ones there will be a freebie program of Microsoft Picture It Express 7 or 8. When all you need to do is fix color or crop, it's great. Of course you can add text and other stuff, too. It doens't take long to load and without all the extro photo tools, it's a quick little program for quick fixes.
You could check the microsoft site and see if they are giving it away there, too.

p.s.
Thanks for the nice scores, judges. I scored far higher than I thought I would since I've been sick for over a week and half the time I just stare at my pc and wonder what I should do.

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/sharon-marie/mialucydinner.jpg

Lucy and I got up extra early so we could begin our day out with a breakfast at the diner across the road from our apartment building. I didn't even have time to straighten my hair!!! The diner isn't the coolest place in the world (we were definitely the youngest people there), but it was cheap. Lucy's always going on about how we can't spend a bunch of money because she gets such lousy pay and then she has to pay for my piano lessons and private school ... whatever. It was good food, no matter how cheap it was.

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/sharon-marie/lucymadmirror.jpg

After we ate, we headed to the local salon to get makeovers for our big day. I'm pretty sure I had a better time than Lucy did! Well, I am more of a girly-girl than her, but she was giving quite the evil eye to that poor hairstylist!

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/sharon-marie/lucymirrormia.jpg

When we were all done with the makeovers, I was very happy, even though I didn't really change much. Lucy, however, decided to get a short pixie cut. I thought she looked good, but as we were looking in the mirror she started to get nervous about it. So, I just assured her that at least I looked good enough for the both of us! She didn't like that comment too much...

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/sharon-marie/artgallerylucymia.jpg

With our new hairstyles in tow, we took a taxi to the city. My mother's portrait, the one Lucy had painted, had been chosen to be featured in the grand opening of a new art gallery; a much larger gallery than it had been in before! It was so exciting, and Lucy got to meet a lot of different artists and make some new connections.

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/sharon-marie/mialucycoffeshop.jpg

When the exciting day was over and the sky turned dark, we decided to do one last thing. One of our favorite places is the local coffee shop because we get all the free coffee we want (since our friend is the owner) and there's lots of cool things to see, like this woman reciting poetry she had written. It was a very relaxing way to end a day we actually spent together, which doesn't happen often.

I am at last place but that is not bad at all, it can only be better next time. Haha so here Round 2:

Candice:
Normally my parents and I would have a so called 'Activities day' once a month, but since they have seperated we have not done it anymore. But Mom decided that we should keep this tradition and make a girls-active-night-out!

Spohie:
Yes I think that is the best way to get rid of all the stress. Candice is so busy with all her homework and her friends, she is married and has kids of her own before I knew it....

Candice:
Oh Mom not again! However I loved our day, we had a great Saturday-in my opinion. We went to the new Waterpark in town. I love to be outside and had a blast, I just did not dare to jump from the high places but I jumped from a board. For the first time!
http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt183/aba23_photo/My%20sims%20stories/nightout4.jpg

Sophie:
Yes she is like a fish in the water, I was better off sitting in the chair and taking pictures. That is more my element. However after the waterpark we went to this nice restaurant in town. My friend Cindel suggested it and she was right, it was amazing.

Candice:
I got to order a real meal not a child portion but a real meal! Mom and I we had so much fun, I think we have not laughed so much in a long time.

Sophie:
I think I needed this time with Candice. I look at her and see my little girl that reminds me so much on myself when I was a little girl. I just felt 10 years younger.
http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt183/aba23_photo/My%20sims%20stories/nightout6.jpg

Candice:
After we had aten so much we went to the local Bowling Hall. I often had played Bowling with my Dad and I loved it. Even when the bowling ball is almost bigger then I am, my Dad showed me how I could throw it.
http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt183/aba23_photo/My%20sims%20stories/nightout1.jpg

Sophie:
I was afraid Candice would hate to go bowling with me because this was always something she had shared with her Dad. I warned her I am not as good as her Dad.
Candice: Yes my Mom warned me but I know she is pretty athletic so she had to be able to bowl, right? Boy was I wrong!! :einstein
Sophie:What? I got the ball rolling didn't I?

Round Two: Girl's Day Out
Jubilee And Juniper Randall

Jubilee: Once about every 6 months, my daughter and I go camping in the Ozark mountains. Although it may sound like a thing father and son would do together, camping is for girls, too.

Juniper: Seriously. Most girls would cringe at the thought of getting their fingers dirty. But not us.

Jubilee: Anyways, we just got back from out bi-yearly camping trips. It was definitely exhausting, but we had so much fun!

Juniper: When we first got to the campgrounds, we saw an axe-throwing range. Last time we went, I couldn't even get it on the board. But this time, I got like a zillion bulls eyes!

Jubilee: Yeah, yeah, way to brag.

Juniper: You're just jealous because you fell on your butt more times than you hit the target.

Jubilee: I can't argue with that one.

http://i41.tinypic.com/23kuq9c.jpg

Jubilee: After that wonderful experience, June-bug and I raced to the pond to see how many fish we could catch.

Juniper: Or boots, in my mom's case. Hehe.

Jubilee: I caught only 1 boot, thank you very much. We both caught a lot of fish. Juniper caught a lot of Rainbow Trout, while I caught about ten Largemouth Bass.

Juniper: I was so jealous. Her fish were like, at least a yard long. Mine were maybe ten inches.

http://i39.tinypic.com/ic3ii1.jpg

Jubilee: Once we had caught nearly all of the fish in the small pond, we decided to head over to the log roll.

Juniper: That was some of the most fun I had all day.

Jubilee: Same here. It was a bit frustrating though, because I kept falling off. It was actually kind of fun though, the falling off. It gave a big adrenaline rush.

Juniper: I know! What I thought was pretty funny about the whole thing was the fact that Mom wore a grandma bathing suit!

Jubilee: It was so not a granny bathing suit. I just don't have the body for a bikini anymore.

Juniper: Whatever. You could totally rock a bikini, and you know it.

Jubilee: Whatever you say.

http://i42.tinypic.com/14e8n7c.jpg

Juniper: After all of the log rolling, axe throwing, and fishing, we were wiped out.

Jubilee: Especially me. Whenever you get older, your bones can't handle that much tension.

Juniper: You're not old.

Jubilee: Pfffft.

Juniper: Okay, maybe a little. Anyways, my mom got a massage while I soaked in the hot springs. It felt so good.

Jubilee: That massage was so exhilarating. It was quite expensive, though.

Juniper: After some alone time, we both met at the sauna and relaxed in there for a bit. It totally felt amazing.

http://i40.tinypic.com/c5c40.jpg

Jubilee: After a long, exhausting day, we sat by the campfire and roasted marshmallows. While roasting, I told some scary stories.

Juniper: Scary stories...ha. They were more hilarious than anything.

Jubilee: Uh, thanks, I guess.

Juniper: You're welcome. Anyways, back on topic. Those marshmallows were so delicious! I roasted mine to a perfect golden brown. Yum.

Jubilee: I burned a few, but eventually got it down. This random woman started roasting marshmallows with us, and literally wasted the whole bag of marshmallows. She kept burning them, they would fall off into the fire, then she repeated the process.

Juniper: I know, ha. I couldn't stop laughing.

http://i41.tinypic.com/2vj33g7.jpg

Jubilee: After filling our stomachs with the creamy, delicious marshmallows, we went to our tent and had a nice sleep.

Juniper: Yeah, if you call being bitten by ferocious bugs nice...

Jubilee: It could have been worse. Either way, the day was perfect. We had so many laughs together, humiliated ourselves, and caught a lot of fish. I couldn't wish for a better day, or a better daughter to spend it with.

Juniper: Aww, thanks Mom. I had fun too.

-------------------------------------------------

I hope the way I did the collages was okay. The little pictures are in black and white because you couldn't see them very well had they been normal.

Anyways, I'd just like to say that everybody's Round Twos so far are great! You all have improved so much. Good luck to all of you :)

It's been a month or so since the girls moved into the shiny sardine can. They've gradually moved into new life routines. It's not always peaches and cream -- sometimes one or the other can't help but snarling. Shaeh keeps promising not to leave Avalon home alone so often. Avalon doesn't like the hours her mother keeps, but finds that all her new "friends" in the neighborhood are more than happy to keep her company.

When the weekend comes, Saturday is the day they put aside all the grief of their new lives and spend the day together in their favorite new routine . . .

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/MG%20Round%202/R2-1.jpg

"Wow, Mom, do you think there's enough yet?"

" 67.2 G's - - I'm thinking we might be able to make an offer on something today."

The girls start every Satuday counting the stash. Avalon figures whatever her mom's doing, she must be doing it right to be making all those simoleons. After fondling the wads a few more times, back under the mattress it goes before Shaeh and Avalon head out the door in hopes of finding their dream house. Other moms and daughters go garage sale-ing, Shaeh and Avalon go house-hunting.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/MG%20Round%202/R2-2.jpg

"Mom, why do you think this cottage is so cheap? You don't suppose the rocks are loose, do you?"

"No, hun, I think it's just sat so long they lowered the price to get a sale. Let's go inside and see what it's like."

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/MG%20Round%202/R2-3.jpg

"Ewwwwwwwwwwww! Mom! Are those what I think they are?"

Shaeh bends over and takes a peek in the urn nearest her. "Uh, yeah. We're out of here."

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/MG%20Round%202/R2-4.jpg

"This house looks really nice, Avalon. Kind of pricey, but big and what a yard."

"I'm game if you're game, Mamacita. Can't wait to see."

Shaeh and Avalon loved the big roomy inside of the house. Both thinking maybe, just maybe this would be the winner until they went out the back door to check out all the gardens . . .

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/MG%20Round%202/R2-5.jpg

"Oh, no, Mom! Not more dead people!" Avalon cried out in frustration.

"Scouts honor, Avie, we are not buying or living in any place with resident dead. Once again, we're outta here."

Crossing those first two pieces of real estate off the list, the Stillwater's continued their trek through the neighborhood in hopes of finding that new house that cried out home to them. A few were way beyond their means, some too small, yet many were quite nice.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/MG%20Round%202/R2-6.jpg

At the end of the afternoon, Shaeh and Avalon do as they do every Saturday after their house-hunting adventure-- they plop their bums out front and rest their weary legs while discussing the pro's and con's of all the houses they've seen that day. Avalon never tells her mother out loud that the home she really dreams of having is the one she grew up in. And Shaeh, well, Shaeh, she's not telling Avalon the real reason she's pushing for that pretty pink duplex is that hot stud that lives in the left side of it.

My favorite thing to do with my mum is to be alone with her. Does that sound strange? But it’s true. My mum is always so busy. She is taking care of me and my brother, making sure we do our homework, eating healthy, putting us to bed and making sure we are behaving well. She’s cooking and cleaning, and even though I help out at times, it’s a lot of work. My father suggested we hire a maid, we can for sure afford it, he says, but my mum wouldn’t hear about it. “A stranger cleaning MY house? Never!” she says. She even takes care of my cat Balder, even though I must admit I was supposed to do that myself.

My father recently bought a small cottage, and we were all supposed to spend our summer holiday there. But then he said we couldn’t go, because he was so busy at work. When mother realized how disappointed my brother and I were, she decided to take us herself, but then, unfortunately, my brother broke his arm and had to stay home with father and Nanny Karen. Lucky me I got to go on holiday with my mum, just the two of us. It was the most wonderful holiday I ever had, in spite of what happened. Let me read to you my mother’s letter to my aunt Signhilde, and you will understand.

Dear sister,
I hope that you are well, and in good health. I’m writing you from Sognafjord, were we arrived four weeks ago. The journey went fine, but it was quite a shock waiting for us when we arrived at the cottage. It didn’t look at all like the real estate agent had told us. It can’t have been painted, neither inside nor outside, for at least twenty years, the roof was rotten and leaking, the fireplace looked like I don’t know what, and eventually we found out it didn’t work at all. Probably something (an old swallow nest?) was stuck in the chimney. Everything was filthy, and the only thing blooming in the garden was the alga in the pond. I must admit it looked depressing, and we didn’t want to go inside at first, just sat right down on the ground, looking at the mess around us. My first thought was to turn back home, but Malfrid was so tired from the journey, so we decided to stay until the next morning.

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims%20contest/Malfrid24b_collage1.jpg

You cannot imagine how cold it was the first nights. Yes, it was June, but the evenings are so cold here in the mountains. Since we couldn’t get the fireplace to work, we let a fire outside, and actually it was kind of cozy. The area is so beautiful! The stars are so bright, the air crispy and clear, and only the only sound you hear is from the wind cuddling the trees, and the cheerful giggle of the stream. I was in doubt, but when I looked at Malfrid’s happy face, I decided to try to clean the place up, even if it looked kind of hopeless this first day.

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims%20contest/Malfrid28fireoutsidebilde2.jpg

The next day we rolled up our sleeves and started working. Cleaning the washroom and kitchen was first priority. There were things alive in that kitchen that I wish I’ve never seen. Buy lunch we could actually eat in the kitchen. We had great help from Jim the tinsmith, who I think felt petty for me. He was recommended to me by some people in the village, and it turned out he knew a lot more than fixing roofs! He changed the broken doors and fixed the window, and the most important of all, he and his journeyman Sven replaced the fireplace for us. Sometimes happiness comes to you in the simplest moments, Signhilde! Like when you sit in front of a new fireplace and feeling the heat flowing through your body. Oh, it was a magic moment, my dear sister!

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims%20contest/Malfrid41cozybilde3.jpg

We had great help from Jim and Sven, but Malfrid and I did a lot of heavy work as well. You should have seen us! I with some of Mons’ “handyman outfits” and Malfrid in Magnes short trousers. (The Lord be praised, that I didn’t unpack them we realized the boys were not coming!) I know it’s not appropriate for women to be dressed like this, but who would see us up there in the mountains anyway? In two short weeks Malfrid and I managed to paint the cottage inside and outside, windows, walls and floor. It was quite a job I can tell you. Jim suggested wallpaper inside, and brought us some very nice ones from the town. I am tremendously pleased with the result.

Even though it was hard work we had a lot of fun as well. It’s nice to finally being able to spend time with each other. We painted and played, tinkered and talked! My sweet sister, we had a fantastic summer! Fishing, picking flowers and blueberries, bird watching (we actually saw an eagle quite close) and a lot of fresh air!

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims%20contest/Malfrid35workisfun_collageb.jpg

And look at the photography, what a cute place didn’t our new cottage become? I just ask you, please, do NOT mention our adventures to Mons. He would feel so terrible if he knew that his girls were doing a man’s work, he is so particular on this subject, as you know. The truth is, that I actually enjoyed the hard work, and of course the result. But, don’t get me wrong, I would definitely not like to experience the same thing again!

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims%20contest/Malfrid43finishedcollage.jpg

My dear sister, I hope your summer was cool and without adventures, and that we will see you soon, when we get back to the city.
With love,
Karlotte

Great job, Deatherella.

Gosh, Allie! That was a great round for you. :)

Thank you, Tree4me! :giggler:
I'm actually quite thankful to have gotten it in, as my game crashed. I spent hours trying to save Juniper & Jubilee so I could continue. For a while I thought I was going to have to forfeit.

By the way, wonderful round two's Deatherella & KyriaT! :D

Round 3
“A New Chapter”
3/11/09 – 3/17/09

Some time or another, we have all shared a life changing experience with someone in our lives. Sims should be no exception! In this round, please share with us a heart – to – heart moment your Mother (Fill in Mom) / Daughter pair have shared. It can be happy or sad. Silly or serious. Just as long as it is something that was “Life Changing” or, as the title says “A New Chapter” in life.

For this round, please submit 3 to 6 pictures. Again, you may use collages (1 collage = 1 pic). Please let the pictures capture the event(s) as well as possible!

As for the writing, the same ol' rule applies – so long as it thoroughly explains the pictures, it doesn't matter how much you write. Also, it doesn't matter what tense you write in (past / present) or what person (Moms view, Daughters view, or a narrator).

Have fun, and try to get them in by the deadline, next Tuesday, March 17. Again, if you need an extension, ask in advance. If no one asks, then I will assume that you have left the contest, and I WILL move on. :)

Good-Luck!

The Baur's

ROUND II

Charley

We go on vacays pretty often. Every chance we get time off of work, or school, we all come up with a good enough reason to go, and we pack up and go! Simple as that.

Fern

We own our own beach house on Twikkii, and I'm the envy of all my friends! Though, when I think about it, I don't see why. I could be just as happy with a tent, and a cooler, in thirty below weather...as long as my parents are there. 'Cause you can't make great memories, on your own.

MORNING

CLICK (http://pics.livejournal.com/hell_sings/pic/0001kq5e)

Charley

Fern's dad is busy going cross country to promote his new book, so when we left for our weekend trip to Twikkii island, we had to go without him, which was kinda sad. However, I thought it'd be a great opportunity for me, and Fern to spend a little girl time together, because I know when it's just the two of us...we're not just having on a vacation, we're on an adventure.

Fern

We woke up early on our first day, as soon as we got settled in the evening before. So we were raring, and ready to go. Mom and I planned on skipping the usual of spending time on the beach, to go visit one of the newly discovered ruins on the South end of the island.

Though, before we did, we made sure to call dad, and tell him we missed him already!

NOON

Charley

The ruins of Numbchuck...wow, what a sight. This should really be the ninth wonder of the world, and even thought we visit Twikkii quite often, this was our first time here, and we just had to make it memorable!

So I decided that me, and Fern should each make an offering to the great Numbchuck shrine...the Drooling Monkey. I tossed in a coin...and wished for world peace...Fern on the other hand...

CLICK (http://pics.livejournal.com/hell_sings/pic/0001p12w)

Fern

So I didn't have any cash on me...but I still had to give an offering. So what did I have one me? Uh...an empty, limited edition Pez dispenser, a little bit of pocket lint, and a paper click. Yeah, I don't think that was going to cut it for a three story tall shrine, of a stupid drooling primate. So I raided the janitor's chemical cart, and came back with a little soap. Or more so a big box of unopened SOS soap.

Yeah, I didn't plan on anything strange happening...I thought I'd just get a laugh. So much for that...

...oooppps.

CLOCK STOPPED...so I dunno...heh.

Fern

Mom began doing her Darth Vader joke, you know, the one where she pretends she's one of his goons, being choked by a Vader's force powers. Then after a while...she got real quiet, and then I realized she wasn't joking. I dunno what happened to her, but she was talking in her sleep, so I know she wasn't dead. Though, she wasn't coming to either.

CLICK (http://pics.livejournal.com/hell_sings/pic/0001q4pd)

Charley

I woke up in a deserted forest...I only knew this 'cause we all know lush, green rainforests don't exist anymore. So I ran, and ran, and called for help. Though, no luck.

Then suddenly, when I began considering it was just a dream, I pinched myself, and suddenly a guy popped out of nowhere. He wore a mask, and he was in somekind of green man-dress, I guess. He greeted me in a strange way, and suddenly I was convinced that I wasn't dreaming. I was dead!

The Grim Reaper didn't look like he normally did, but I didn't plan on taking any chances. I got down on my knees, and I had a nervous breakdown. I begged for him to send me back to Earth, that I had a daughter, a son, and a possible future husband...if he ever gets around to proposing that is...stay on subject...anyway. I was freakin' out!

Though, thankfully he told me I wasn't dead...that I was just having an epiphany. Phew, that was close. He said that the reason why I was having one, was because my biological clock was ticking, and I needed to settle down.

I told him I was only 24...but he said I was lieing and that I was actually 30. I guess he wasn't just a snazzy dresser, but a mind reader too. Hmmmph, maybe I did need to settle down after all. Dax is already in college, and he has a steady girlfriend, so who knows...I could be a grandma soon. So he was probably right.

So, as soon as I realized the reason I was in this whacked out dream, I woke up...with a strange doll in my hands. I guess I was given a second chance. Maybe I was trying so hard to be Fern's friend, and start being her parent...and learn how to discipline her.

OUR RETURN

Charley

We returned home after our crazy trip to Twikkii. I decided to talk to Lucian, first and foremost, about the dream I had, while I was passed out at the ruins. He didn't believe me, he just laughed and said I was crazy...and that he didn't believe in spiritual journies. So, so much for that. Man...sometimes he can really get on my nerves.

CLICK (http://pics.livejournal.com/hell_sings/pic/0001r376)

Fern

I overheard mom talking to dad about that ephiphany she had, and I felt kinda bad that she thought she wasn't raising me well enough. Maybe I should stop acting up, I was the one that caused the lava flow at the ruins, and I almost payed for it...big time.

I told her, later that day when we were hanging out in the garden, that I believed her...even thought dad didn't...and she actually started to cry. I told her I loved her, and that she was doing a great job of being mom, and that I was doing a horrible job of being a daughter.

She said not to worry about it, but I still do. I just hope I can make up for how I ruined our trip...someday.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/HEART_shapedballoon/snapshot_169f42c0_f6c4415c.jpg

Charley

So I decided to test out that doll I woke up beside, and I don't really understand what it's for. I'm sure it has some significance that dream I had...but who knows. It's kinda creepy looking, and all it does is glow. Oh well, I'm sure Fern'll get a kick out of it.

First of all I can't believe how great all the contributions are! Fantastic pics, interesting stories and so very pretty and clever mothers and daughters. I'm truly happy I'm not a judge in this competiton!
As a newbie I try to do my best, even though sometimes I don't really know what I'm doing  , and I am really humble and proud to be in your company! I learn something new every day and have a lot of fun! And thanks a lot Deatherella for the compliment :)

I have a question for the next rounds; is there anything in the rules against growing up the daughter from child to teenager? The mother will stay adult for many years (days) more, but the children grow up so fast! Since I'm playing kind of Legacy I would rather not use the aging off cheat, if it's possible.

Either way, I look forward to continue!

Thanks for the question KyriaT, that is also my problem as my little child will grow up soon and I would also rather not turn the aging off.

Oh and BTW Tree4me I think you called me in your first round judgment a HE - I am a SHE. :smash:

KyriaT and aba23 - upon making this competition, I never actually thought about that issue, mainly because when I do contests I don't ever play the family in the process, thus, no one ages! However, if them aging in unavoidable, and since I never put in a rule saying either way, I suppose that I'd be fine for them to age, so long as they do stay in the age limits :)

And everyone:
1 of the judges have yet to submit scores, so, I am now calling on my EJ. If I don't get one last score by tomorrow afternoon, I'll judge them myself and post the scores from the other 2 judges and myself.

Also a friendly reminder that this round ends on the 17th. :)

Thanks clw8, and to the other judges! =)

tree4me-I had the pics much bigger, but for some reason the forum wouldn't allow me to post them. If I run into the same problem next round, I will add a link for a bigger picture, because I agree with you, they are hard to see.
Thanks for the suggestion!

Edit: Oh wow. I went in game to do the round 3, and realized Romey and Farrah are missing. My game exploded a few days ago, and I had to reinstall everything. So I have a question, would it be alright to replace Romey and Farrah with two new sims? (They would keep the same name, and the story would continue the same)

Well I am better but not satisfied. I still think that Collages are not one picture because they are simply not.

Second might be that some of my sentences are weird but english is not my first language and so it can happen.

All in all - I did not expect to get higher in ranking, and I am somewhat discouraged. However I still like the idea of the contest and so I like to be in it.

aba23, I understand you are dissatisfied with the place you are in. I am glad you are still going to stay in the contest.

You should be proud of yourself though, because you are showing good sportmanship, and not saying things like "Ah crap! I don't have the score that I expected to have *whinebitchmoancry*"

If it is any consolation, I am definitely proud of how you're going in this contest, and not giving up. Great job, and thanks for not giving up. ;)

aba23, I still say that I understand how you are feeling to be in last place, but, technically you aren't... if that makes you feel better?! There where 10 contestants to start out! I understand that you are probably trying your hardest, and, it shows as you improve some each time you post. As for your comment about collages. No, they aren't just "One Picture". They consist of many pictures. However, they only take up one sheet: when someone tells you to make a collage of things you like, what do you do? You take a big piece of paper, and you layer and paste many different sized pictures onto it. This is the reason they "count" as ONE picture. Go ahead and give one a try if you've not made them before. If you don't have photoshop or whatnot, and don't feel like downloading anything, you could always use "ms paint". yeah, the quality will suck, but, atleast you'll have a collage! I also get that you are discouraged, and I'm sure that my scores and lack of comments didn't help. (hence why I didn't want to be left to judge, but, my 3rd judge and EJ failed me.) This being said, though you may not move up in rank, that doesn't mean that you still can't try. If for no other reason, do it for your self, and for practice....Everything has a turning point, and, I think that round 3 might be yours :)

That's a great attitude to have about the ranking and contest :)
None of you are in last place, so no one should be down about that. You are doing good for a first contest . . . I remember my first one; I only did "outstanding" on the third round, when I got the 3rd(?) highest round score. Sure, I still finished in the lowest rankings, but, it felt nice to have made it through without quiting.
>>Whatever you do, finish a contest, and don't give up! I've thought about quiting a contest, and had to quit one on account of lack of time to finish a round, but, I regreted doing so immediately after. Trust me it's worth it to just finish it . . . even if you are in last :)
. . . Now that I've finished rambling, goodluck to you and everyone.

I would like to thank the judges for giving me such fine scores for my lagging efforts. I have been sick over the last couple weeks and it shows all over the place in my work. I load up my two girls and try to get them to be exciting and it's not even working for me, so as much as I wish half of you weren't saying you lose interest or it was "forgettable", I can't argue. Yes, I'd like better scores, but as disappointing as some of them are, I'm more disappointed with myself. I know I can do better -- and so do half the other people in this contest know it, too.

Keep trying aba. I'm not winning and I'm not giving up either. Since this is your first contest, just think of this a a really good learning experience. You're learning the ropes of the contests, learning new tricks, polishing up some writing skills, etc. My first two contests, I got eliminated the first or second round, so you're doing way better than I did on my first shot.

Oh my gosh, Deatherella! I'm terribly sorry. If I'd known you were sick, I would've been nicer with my comments and scores. :| I'm too strict now.

Nah, I don't think I should get points for being sick. That's not fair to anyone else -- especially since there are some astounding round entries on here.

Oh thank goodness. I tend to do that during gigs if I'm sick. I hope I'm not hated by anyone. :P

I hope you are better now, and if not, get well soon. I am looking forward to your round three. I am looking forward to everybody's round three. :) Good luck, all! :D

My dearest angel,
I miss you so very, very much. I hope everything is fine at home, and that father and aunt Signhilde takes good care of you and you brother. Unfortunately, I don’t know when I will be coming home, since Doctor Olsen is not sure what is wrong with me. I feel very week I must admit, but I don’t have much pain, which is a comfort. Everybody here at the hospital is very friendly, and they take good care of me, so please don’t worry, everything will be fine. I hope you are a good girl and help your aunt, and please do your homework, even though I know this is a difficult time for you.
Your loving mother

Dear mother,
Everything is fine here at home, so don’t worry about us, aunt Signhilde takes care of everything. Even though I must admit she doesn’t make as good food as you do. I miss you very much, and I hope you will come home soon. Father says that the hospital is not a proper place for children, but he has promised to take me anyway, since I study so hard and try to do my best to help aunt Signhilde in the house. As soon as you feel better and the doctor agrees that we can visit, he says. I hope it will be very soon, because I miss you terribly.
With one hundred kisses,
Your daughter Malfrid
PS. Just as you know, I do remember to feed the cat.

My sweet angel,
Today I’m feeling a bit better, and Doctor Olsen gave me the diagnosis, my sickness is called preeclampsia, which is a relief, because at least now we know what is wrong. I’m sure your father already has told you that in a few months you will have a little brother or sister, and that he will explain to you what preeclampsia means. In short, I need a lot of rest, so that both the baby and I will become stronger. At the moment I’m not allowed to have visitors except your father, but Doctor Olsen said that as soon as my blood pressure goes down you can come and see me. I look so much forward to that, I’m thinking about you all the time, and can’t wait to see you. In the meanwhile, I hope you keep up your good spirit. Your father sais you are a great help at home, and I’m really proud of you, my little diamond.
Your loving mother

My sweetest Malfrid,
It was so wonderful to see you yesterday! It was such an overwhelming moment to have you here beside me, so don’t feel bad about the tears I let, they were just happy tears. It so good to know that you are working hard at school, and I hope this difficult period in our lives will soon end, so that we can all be together as a family again. I’m now allowed to get out of bed for a few hours a day, and take small walks in the hospital park. It’s not much, but it helps, because time is passing very slowly.
Doctor Olsen, Nurse Astrid and Nurse Rut send their greetings, they all commented how sweet and well behaved you were.
Give your brother a kiss from me, and take good care of yourself my sweetheart, and be courageous.

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims contest/Malfrid68hospitalbs-hv.jpg
Dear Doctor Olsen,
I just wanted to express my gratitude towards you and your wonderful staff at the hospital. You all do such incredibly important work, and of the highest quality. I will be forever grateful for the way you saved my life, and the life of the little ones. I’m enclosing a photography that we took last week, and as you can see we are all healthy, and the babies are growing up and are keeping us busy, but happy!
A special greeting from my daughter Malfrid, she has stated that she from now on will work even harder at school, so that she can start training to become a nurse in a few years. She was so inspired by the work you do at the hospital. She is a great help to me with the babies, so who knows, she might decide to became a midwife!
Again, I thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Yours sincerely
Karlotte Vatne

Oh Deatherella, what can I say. I am truly honored that you let me (us) see this little angel, and from the bottom of my heart, sad that she had to leave this world so soon. I feel for you, no matter if you were her mother, sister or something else. Be strong, you are not alone. Again, thank you, and for reminding me that in real life there isn't always a happy ending.

Oh. Wow, that is such an amazing picture. There were no words to it, and yet I was able to read into it like an open book. You're right, KyriaT, real life doesn't always have a happy ending.

@KyriaT, I made sure to read your entry straight after school instead of straight after waking up! :P It was truly amazing. Well done. :)

Round 3 - "A New Chapter" (Payton and Addison Holden)

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg231/cgirl90/Sims%202/Megahood/Holden/Other/SocialWorker12.jpg

We had just returned from the beach when I received one of the most devastating calls I have ever had. It was my mother and all I could here was her sobs. She had phoned to tell us that my sister had passed away in car crash with her husband. I dropped the phone and could barely control my self. It was all so sudden and the next thing I knew, this social worker was at my door step holding a toddler. I knew right away who the toddler was and why the social worker was here. The toddler was Flynn, my sister's son, and I was now his legal guardian.

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg231/cgirl90/Sims%202/Megahood/Holden/Other/PaytonandFlynnHolden12.jpg

So here we are, a few months later and my family is still trying to adjust to the new addition. Flynn is good most of the time, however, it is really becoming hard to keep him away from the toilet and sucking his hands after. I think I'm doing a great job with him and Addison seems to be handling Flynn's arrival pretty well. She understands she's no longer going to have all our attention and has taken great strides to be the best big sister she can be.

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg231/cgirl90/Sims%202/Megahood/Holden/Other/PaytonandFlynnHolden22.jpg

We learned from the social worker that Flynn has yet to learn how to walk, so I began training him. It's hard for me to forget the thought that this is what his real mom wanted to teach him and that he shouldn't be learning it from his aunt. But I push that thought away and continue to focus on Flynn's needs and our family's needs.

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg231/cgirl90/Sims%202/Megahood/Holden/Other/AddisonandFlynnHolden22.jpg

I kind of like having Flynn as a little brother, well sometimes anyways. I miss having mom help me with my homework or playing catch with me, but Flynn is still young and he needs lots of attention. The world no longer revolves around me and it's nice that I'm learning this now, because this is a key element in becoming a great parent. Sure Flynn can be a pain, but he's young and honestly doesn't know any better. I do wish he wouldn't throw up on me as much though.

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg231/cgirl90/Sims%202/Megahood/Holden/Other/AddisonandFlynnHolden12.jpg

I hope I can be the best sister possible and I hope he knows that we all love him. I told him that one of those stars is his mommy and daddy, smiling down at him from heaven. He's a part of our family now and his smile speaks a thousand words.

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/sharon-marie/coolage.jpg

Pierce really was cute. I mean, if you liked his type. Clean-Shaven, pretty-boy handsome, and obviously wealthy. Apparantly, Lucy liked his type. That night at the coffee shop (after the gallery opening), was the night that Lucy met Pierce, her future husband. He was very sweet; singing for her and dancing with her in front of everyone. But I still can't believe he gave her such a huge engagement ring.

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/sharon-marie/collagewedding.jpg

Their wedding took place just six months after they met. The day went off without a hitch, and both the bride and groom were ecstatic, as were the rest of the guests. I, however, was a little more hesitant. This whole marriage thing was really going to change my life.

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/sharon-marie/dinnercollage.jpg

My mood started to lift as the party went on. I taught Lucy's godfather some new dance moves, met Pierce's mother (who really is a nice lady but is a little eccentric---I mean, who wears a gypsy outfit to a wedding?!) and had some pretty amazing food. But I still had the nagging feeling that I was going from the most important thing in Lucy's life to the second. I felt like I was being thrown aside.

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/sharon-marie/dressercollage.jpg

So I confronted Lucy about it.
"Lucy?" I asked Lucy early the next morning as she was making sure she had everything packed for her honeymoon.
"Yeah?" She replied. Then she looked over and saw the expression on my face, the one I always make right before I'm going to cry.
"What's wrong?" She asked.
So I told her exactly how I felt. I'm not sure how she understood me though, since I was sobbing.
"Oh, Mia...I'm sorry." And then she started to cry too.

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/sharon-marie/hugscollage.jpg

As the taxi left to take Lucy on the honeymoon of her dreams, she told me that I was always the most important person in her life.
"Your mother trusted me to take good care of you, and never let anything or anyone get between us. I don't intend to let that happen."
I just smiled and hugged her, and then hugged Pierce, watching their taxi speed down the road towards their Hawaiian adventure.

"Everything's going to be okay," I thought. "Everything's going to be okay."

Round Three: A New Chapter
Jubilee & Juniper Randall

----------------------------------------
In loving memory of Joel Randall
September 1970 - July 2002
-----------------------------------------

Everyone, at some point in their life, will experience a loss of some kind. Whether it be a pet turtle, a great-grandfather, or a best friend, the pain is excruciating and unbearable. For a while, you will be in denial. You keep wishing it is just a dream. Eventually, you realize that there is nothing you can do—that special someone is gone forever.
One warm afternoon in July, July 25th to be exact, my husband, Joel went out for a stroll in the park. He told me he wanted to go bask in the ambiance of the forest. He gave me a peck on the lips and walked out the door, promising to be back in an hour. Little did I know, it was the last time I would see his charming smile.

http://i40.tinypic.com/25qda1z.jpg

After about 3 hours without a word from Joel, I was starting to get quite anxious and nervous. He had left the house at 5:00, and it was now around 8:00. Wondering where he was, I slipped on my shoes and walked out the door to fetch my husband. He was nowhere to be seen. I had searched the entire area without a trace of him. Then I saw it- In a clearing of trees. It was a body. I was definitely freaked out, but I decided to take a look anyway. As I got closer, I saw that my worst fear had come true. It was Joel. I searched for any sign of life in his beaten up body. I even tried CPR, but with no luck. I stood by his body for around ten minutes, balling. But then I snapped back to reality. I called the cops who concluded that this definitely was not an accident-he had been murdered.

http://i40.tinypic.com/opd7if.jpg

As I wandered back to my house, I kept wondering how I was going to tell Juniper. It definitely wouldn’t be easy. I walked into the house to find her fast asleep on the house and decided that I would tell her in the morning.

The next morning, while she was playing on her playground set, I finally got the courage to tell her that Daddy wasn’t coming home. At first, she didn’t understand. A few minutes later, she came over and buried her face in my stomach, crying her eyes out. We just stood there for a while, letting it all out.

http://i41.tinypic.com/rldflv.jpg

We reminisced, thinking of all of the good times we had with him. Memories of he and our daughter playing together flooded my mind, and tears came to my eyes. I thought about the day he proposed to me and the way his lips felt on mine when he kissed me. I regretted all of the silly little arguments we got into, trying to take it back. The two of us just stood there for a while, her in my arms. We talked about him and how wonderful he was.

http://i42.tinypic.com/4kfm0j.jpg

Trying to support the two of us was hard without the help of Joel. I had to work two jobs to pay the bills. For a while, I had to have Juniper sleep in my bed because I was so used to having another person in the bed. I struggled with making decent meals for the two of us (Joel was the family cook). I tried my very best to give June-bug the best life possible, so much so that I would not get very much sleep. It was definitely a very hard adjustment. Without him, I felt alone and helpless.

http://i42.tinypic.com/102nmkp.jpg

Now, seven years later, things have gotten better for the two of us. I eventually racked up enough money to buy a nice home in the suburbs for us to live in. I still work two jobs, managing a restaurant and working as a photographer for weddings and other special occasions. I can now cook meals without burning them, although they will never be as good as Joel’s. His death brought a whole new chapter to our lives- a chapter of pain, sorrow, and strength. I know in my heart that he is watching over us. He will forever be loved and missed greatly.

alliemarie2323, it is NOT boring at all! Very sweet, and well written in my opinion, and very good collages as always! I personally don't like any other characters than human in my game, (please save me from witches, vampires and that plant thing, it is only annoying! :mute: ), but Jubilee & Juniper have softend my heart in this matter, I really love your story, it's so - well... human.

The Baur's

ROUND 3

'I've always believed, that as fullfilling as it is to go through something life changing, it isn't as fullfilling as changing somebody else's life. Then in the end, what you've done for them, changes you.'

-Charley

Fern was playing in the lawn, when suddenly she was approached by a passerby...

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/HEART_shapedballoon/R3-1small.jpg (http://pics.livejournal.com/hell_sings/pic/0001s6gh)

"Hello," the stranger said, greeting her.

"Hi?" Fern was a bit caught off guard by the lady's forwardness, and it showed, especially when a bubble got a little too close to her dropped jaw. "Ugh, are you like a gypsy or whatever?" Fern asked, reffering to her odd choice in clothing.

The stranger laughed lightly. "No, actually, I'm a relic collector."

"Uh...a what-a-projector?"

"No, heheh, a relic collector, I collect rare treasures," the lady explained. "Your doll, the one at your feet, I'd be interested in buying it, if your willing to sell it, that is."

Fern glanced down to look at the new doll her mom gave her the other day. "Eh...I dunno, it's kinda special, and I'm pretty attached to it," she said, scratching her neck. "So I really shouldn't." The woman furrowed her brows, as she looked pretty disappointed to hear that.

"Okay, then how about we trade?"

"Why is it such a big deal if you don't get it or not? It's just a doll, plus, aren't you a little old to be playing with toys?" Fern asked, slanting her own brows. She didn't plan on letting go of this thing, for any reason. It was a gift from her mom, and she quite cherished it.

"Ugh, that's besides the point!" The stranger sneered down at the bratty kid, as she put her hands on her sides.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/HEART_shapedballoon/R3-2small.jpg (http://pics.livejournal.com/hell_sings/pic/0001tph2)

"Then what is the point?" Charley asked, getting between the two.

"Your her mom?"

"Yes, and you've got a lot of nerve trespassing private property, just to get into an disagreement with my daughter," she replied, glaring back at her.

The woman sighed. "Look, I'm not here to start trouble, I just thought you'd like to know how special your daughter's doll is."

"Special, is it now?" Charley was ill-convinced.

"Yes!" She explaimed, as she pointed to the pin pricked doll, slumped over in the grass. "That is no toy, that is a voodoo doll, and a rare one at that. I buy it, so I can put it up on display at my museum."

"Museum, really?" Fern asked, as her silver eyes widened.

"Yes, and I'm willing to trade you a very special item of mine, for it."

Charley shook her head. "Can't you just write a check?"

"No, no! Trust me, this piece of treasure that I have for you, is practically priceless." The woman, reaching into her bag, pulled out a white gift box, topped with a red bow. "This doesn't just give you wealth beyond your wildest dreams, but everlasting life as well. Though, choose wisely, for once you've decided what it is you want, you won't be able to take it back. You will either reap the rewards, or suffer the consequences." Handing it to Charley, she smiled, before she took the doll, and went on her way.

"Hmmm...weird."

"Why, something wrong mom?" Fern asked.

"No, it's just the last thing she said...reap the rewards, or suffer the consequences...it bothered me, is all."

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/HEART_shapedballoon/R3-3small.jpg (http://pics.livejournal.com/hell_sings/pic/0001wtct)

"A genie lamp?" Fern asked, finding it similar to the ones she's seen in Saturday morning cartoons. "Weird..."

"Yeah, I know," Charley added.

"...let's rub it!" Bending over, Fern brushed her hand against the side of the gold, and jewel encrusted lamp.

"NO!!!"

Fern never listened, that's just how she was, and as soon as she rubbed it, a puff of purple smoke slithered out of it's spout, as an unknown voice began to fill the living room. "Sorry, I just thought it's be the right thing to do, I mean, it is a genie lamp."

"Yeah, but what if it had a snake in it?" Her mom asked.

There wasn't a snake in it, but there was a genie. He had purple skin, and green eyes, and as he yawned, and stretched his arms, Charley and Fern couldn't help, but look upon him in utter shock. "Man...talk about over-slept. I haven't been freed since '86, and that was one bad year." He glanced down at the two. "Oh, hey. Pleasure to meet you, I'm Genie, and since you let me out you get three...blah, blah, blah. Yeah, you know how it goes."

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/HEART_shapedballoon/R3-4small.jpg (http://pics.livejournal.com/hell_sings/pic/0001xa11)

"Three wishes?" Fern spoke up first, finishing his sentence for him.

"Oh, aren't you darling, you know how to finish sentences," he praised her, sarcastically. "Okay...look, I'm not really a people person, so let's get this done, and get it done now. So, your first wish?"

Charley, still in a bit of shock, began thinking about what she'd wish for first. "I dunno, we should probably take a little time to think about it..."

"I wish I had a puppy!"

"FERN! I thought I just said that we should think about it!"

"Your wish is my command," the Genie said, before he began waving his hand around.

A purple glow began to engulf Fern, as she say, "oooh, it tickles." Soon enough, she was holding a puppy in her hands, and her mom was throwing another fit.

"Why!? WHY!? Did you just give her a dog!?" Charley asked, insisting on an answer.

The Genie shrugged. "'Cause I'm supposed to?"

"I'm going to call him, King Richard," Fern said, grinning, as she hugged her brand new dog, to near death

"Okay then, since Fern used up our first wish, I guess I should decide what to do with the second one."

"Okay, shoot," the Genie said, prompting her.

"Hmmm...I wish I had a half a million dollars! There, simple enough."

The purple skinned, mythical being shook his head. "Okay...well then, your wish is my command."

"Oh, my God!!!" Charley fell to her knees in awe, as she looked over the stacks of twenties. "This lamp is the best thing I've ever traded for!!!"

"Hey mom, when you wished for that money, did you ask for a deposit slip?"

"No...honey, Genies aren't banks," Charley said, laughing. "Why?"

"'Cause there's two cops outside, and they look like there here to arrest somebody," Fern said, pointing to the two, heading onto their lawn.

"COPS!!!???"

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/HEART_shapedballoon/R3-5small.jpg (http://pics.livejournal.com/hell_sings/pic/0001y3qq)

Approaching the two cops, Charley tried her best to stall them, while Fern frantically hid the stash. "H-h-hello officers, how are you both today? Can I invite you inside to have a cup of coffee, or a donut, possibly?"

"No, we're just here for business today, Ms. Baur. We actually have reason to believe you could be a suspect, in a sudden robbery...since all clues point us to you." The male cop didn't look interested in her nonsense, and immediately brushed it off to get to the point. "Tell me, Ms. Baur, where were you last evening---"

Suddenly, she dropped down on her hands, and knees."Okay! Okay, I surrender! I wished for a half a mill, and now it's in my livingroom. I don't know how it got there, but it did...and I'm so sorry!!! Just don't arrest me! Please!!! I have a daughter, and a son in college, and I can't afford to hire a lawyer!!!"

"Then I guess there's nothing left to do, but arrest...I'm sorry Ms. Baur, but I have to take you in!" He reached for his cuffs, and Charley freaked.

"No! I'm not going! I'm not a criminal, I'm innocent I swear!"

"You just confessed, and even if you are innocent, why are you resisting arrest!?"

"'Cause I'm scared?" Shrugging her shoulders, she tried to outrun him, but he jumped her in the knick of time. Charley should of known how nimble officer Sinjin was, this wasn't the first time she's crossed paths with him...she just thought this part of her life was over with. Now she was being carted off to jail, and Fern would be put into foster care, until her father returned home from his business trip.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/HEART_shapedballoon/R3-6small.jpg (http://pics.livejournal.com/hell_sings/pic/0001z21x)

Charley ended up in jail, for resisting arrest, harming an officer, and being a possible suspect in a robbery. Fern ended up in foster care, and as soon as Lucian heard the news, he rushed home halfway through his book signing, to see what was going on.

"Now explain to me again, how you got yourself into this mess," Lucian insisted, for he had quite the hard time understanding her, between her sobs.

"I told you, this lady gave us a magic lamp, for a voodoo doll..." Wiping her tears, Charley tried to calm herself down before she continued, so that she could actually be comprehensible. "...a Genie came out, and Fern wished for a puppy---"

"His name is King Richard, King for short," Fern added.

"Anyway, then I wished for five hundred thousand dollars---"

Lucian stopped her. "Why just five hundred grand?"

"I dunno, but that's besides the point Lucian! Now stop interrupting me! I'm trying to explain!"

"You know what!? I drove three hundred miles, in a mad dash, after I found out my daughter was in foster care, and my girlfriend was in jail for robbing a bank! I am in NO MOOD to deal with your attitude, Charley!" Lucian reached his breaking point, but tried his best to keep his composure. "Now, I drained out our savings, but your officially bailed out. The cops actually decided to believe your story, after they realized their real purps were in Mexico. Even still, Charls, your getting off easy, and as soon as we get home, your going to sit and think about everything you've put yourself, and your daughter through. Understood!?"

"Yes sir..." Charley said. To tell the truth, she was just glad she was leaving.

The guard let her out, and Charley was overwhelmed with the joy of FREEDOM! "I'm sorry, Fern, for everything. I should of thought this through a little better. I hope being in goverment custody wasn't too traumatizing for you."

"Pshaw! Really, it was kinda cool. The women were all really nice, and they fed us, so, it wasn't exactly torture." Fern shrugged it off. "Plus, I'm just glad you're okay. I can't help, but admit I was a little worried about you."

"I was worried about you too, Charley. I'm glad you're okay," Lucian said, speaking up. His sweet words were eventually repaid by a big kiss. "Heh, you should go to jail more often, if you missed me that much."

"Don't give me any ideas, Lucian. Don't give me any ideas."

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/HEART_shapedballoon/R3-7small.jpg (http://pics.livejournal.com/hell_sings/pic/00020x8c)

"Do you have a few dollars to spare, miss?"

Charley, heading out of the police department, took one look of the begger by the steps, and kept walking. "Sorry dude, I just got out of holding, I'm kinda tapped out."

"Oh...okay, thank you anyway..." He said, shivering in his torn, and tattered clothes.

Fern looked between her mom, and the homeless man, and feeling kind of sorry, decided to give him the only thing she could offer. "Here you go man," she said, setting a present at his feet. "Merry early Christmas dude."

"Ugh...w-w-why thank you..." He said, but didn't know if she could hear him, as she rushed to join her parents in the car. "...Merry early Christmas to you too." He managed to get out, before watching them drive away.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/HEART_shapedballoon/R3-8small.jpg (http://pics.livejournal.com/hell_sings/pic/00021r3e)

Daylight came again, and a new day began. Charley was outside working in her garden, while Fern and her father were inside, going through her pregame ritual of rocking out together. When Charley began heading back to the front lawn, to trim her flower bushes, she coincidentally ran into a visitor, on his way to ring her doorbell. "Hi, can I help you?"

The blond man smiled at her. "You don't remember me, do you?"

"No, should I?" She asked, before looking down at a little red headed boy beside him.

"The begger, I stopped you outside the police department building."

"OH! You!" She extended her hand out to shake his. "You look, cleaner. That's probably why I didn't recognize you."

He nodded his head, as his smile grew. "Yes, a lot has changed in a day, and I only have your daughter to thank for that." He watched her expression change, from being sure of herself, to being utterly confused. "Heheh, the lamp. Your daughter gave me a magical lamp, and I stopped by to thank her. Can I?"

"Fern did that? I mean, yeah, of course you can," Charley said, nodding her head.

"Morning mom!" Fern, skipping out of the house, ran into her mother, and a couple of visitors. "Hello...?"

"Fern, this is man stopped by to thank you."

The man took a knee. "Fern, what a beautiful name. You mother's right, I came to thank you. To thank you for changing my life for the better. I used the lamp, and when I woke up this morning, it's like everything started over again." He paused for a second, to clear his throat, for he had begun to tear up. "You see, I was once a rich man, with a big house, a beautiful wife, and a wonderful baby boy." He gestured to the red headed boy beside him. "My ex-wife was very cruel, and used me all the time. She divorced me, and took me to the cleaners, forcing me to become homeless. I missed my money, and I missed my home...but I missed my son even more." He took her little hands into his own. "Fern, because of you, I was reunited with my boy, and I couldn't be any happier. I clean up, and found a good honest job, and I wanted to thank you for giving all of this to me. Your very kind, and I hope you know that."

"Fern, I'm so proud of you," Charley said, as she began tearing up herself.

"You should be, she's one of a kind," he said, while getting back up to his feet. "By the way, this is my son, Todd." He introduced the two to each other.

"Hello Fern," the boy said, smiling at her.

"Hi Todd, pleasure to meet you."

'So that's it, that's the time we changed a life forever, and therefore changed our own. My mother was so proud of me, and I gained new friends out of it too. Plus, you never know, this could be just the beginning of a new chapter in my life, 'cause Todd is pretty cute. Heheh.'

Hey guys! Just wanted to say great job to everyone on round 3! You guys all did an excellent job.
On a sad note, my sims "game blew up" and I unfortunately wasn't able to save Romey and Farrah. =( Unfortunately I am going to have to drop out of the contest. I had tons of fun with each round I was able to be a part of, and I've really enjoyed reading all of yours. I'll continue to follow/lurk this contest, so I want to wish everyone good luck and I look forward to seeing future rounds from each of you! =)

To the judges and clw8-Thanks for all the kind words, and for being understanding.

Good luck everyone! =)

Sorry for my lateness but we are in mid-terms and its very critical because these should be my last mid terms EVER!!! I do not expect high scores for this round as I tried to use collages for the first time ever and I am a little short in/of time. Ok here we go.

Round Three: A New Chapter- Sophie and Candice Shine

"Well, I guess in every parents life there is a moment like this, the moment when you have to realize that your little baby is growing up. I alwys thought that I can manage this, and I always thought that other parents (especially my parents) who told me that letting your children go is the hardest task a parent can have, well I thought they were just making a big deal out of it. I thought it would be easy, but I have to admit I am having a hard time right now. Yesterday I was sitting down and looked at old pictures of my baby. The sunshine of my life, the most beautyful star on my horizon."

http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt183/aba23_photo/Collageone.jpg

"[Sigh] I do have a hard time because after I left her Dad I did put her in the center of my life. I always felt that I was the center of her life as well. I do not even know when it happened but suddenly my little girl become a little lady. An attractive young woman."

http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt183/aba23_photo/Collagetwo.jpg

"Yes I want to hold her in my arms, freeze the time, I want to see her being silly and making fun on me about my daily jogging. Now we just celebrated her 15th birthday. Yes and I had this wonderful painting set that I gave to her, she had asked for it several month ago. Well but apparently in the meantime she had found something more interesting, or someone. It was two month ago when the House family from across the street moved away and a new family moved in. The Pricketts are very nice people and they have two sons Tay and Levis. Now Candice focus almost only on her new boyfriend Levis. It is so...weird...to hear your baby say 'Mom this is my boyfriend...' It is weird, because I was always afraid that Candice would have problems with any of my boyfriends, but she never had. She never mentioned that she mind 'sharing' me. But I feel bad to say I have problems to share her with another person. That is bad isn't it?"

"Last week I came back from my evening jogging tour and I found Candice and Levis in our bedroom. The bedding was messed up and I found them kissing. They did not even realize me."

http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt183/aba23_photo/Collagethree.jpg

"Well if this is a new chapter of our relationship between mother and daughter then I have a hard time starting it. I do want to be happy for my daughter, but to be honest it might be that I fear to be alone someday. And now I can understand why my parents always said 'letting your children go is the hardest task a parent can have'. I know that Candice is a good girl and I just hope that Levis treats her like she deserves."

Round 4
3/17/09 – 3/23/09
. . . This is a STRICT time line. The original deadline assigned by BP is the 23rd. Although I can get an extension, it'll probably only be a week. However, I don't want to have to carry this thing on that long, and would like to allow plenty of time for the judges to get scores in. So please, take every effort to get this round in BEFORE the 23rd.

Round 4
“You will always be, My little Girl.”

Welcome to the finale of “My Girl”! We have all watched your mother / daughter pair come a long way. Through thick and thin, I have had you bring your pair. Now, it is time to see you tie up the loose ends, and bring their lives together (as far as this contest goes) to a sweet ending. (or not so sweet, the choice is yours!) In this round, I AM ALLOWING your sim daughter to age up 1 stage, if it better fits your story line, however you DO NOT have to age them at all.

Pictures : 4 – 6, as previously, Collages are allowed, and count 1 collage for 1 picture.

Writing : As always, how ever much it takes to thoroughly explain the picture. However, from this round, the story line MUST be written from the MOTHERS point of view.

Remember the cut off date. Look back up top for reference.

Questions, comments, concerns, please PM IMMEDIATELY.

Life Twists and Turns in the Oddest of Ways

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/MG%20Round%203/bb-MG-R3-1.jpg

Despite the piss poor circumstances of her life, Avalon got up early every morning, went to school, promptly got that homework done afterwards, and practiced on her piano everyday before going outside to hang with the neighborhood hunks. All that piano plinking paid off one day when she got that coveted invitation to audition to attend Julliard. Shaeh was happy for her but couldn't tear herself away from her own money-grubbing schemes so Avalon's father, Drake, took her to New Simork for the school interviews. He was so proud of her when she was accepted that as a reward he decided to fly her to Llamawood for the annual Simmy Awards.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/MG%20Round%203/MG-R3-2.jpg

Back at the trailer, Shaeh was busy packing away figuring she could do Drake one better by having a shiny new home waiting for Avalon when she returned from her trip. Shaeh had made an offer on a fairly nice home downtown. "It'll need some work", Shaeh thought, "but Avalon and I can fix it up the way we want it and then it will be just right."

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/MG%20Round%203/MG-R3-3.jpg

Halfway through her third day of packing up their belongings, Shaeh got a phone call from the local police department. The officer told her there had been a horrendous plane crash by the river. From the looks of things, the pilot of Avalon's plane had indulged in a misbegotten game of chicken with another plane. They crashed and landed up on the ridge at the edge of town. Shaeh was totally distraught, getting to the crash site in time to see Avalon being wheeled to an ambulance. She was told that Avalon's condition was quite serious, but not fatal. Avalon had internal injuries and needed surgery.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/MG%20Round%203/MG-R3-4.jpg

Avalon was blissfully unconscious during the first week of her hospital stay but when she woke up, she discovered her life was about to crash and burn even more so than those two airplanes. The truth always comes out in the end, they say, and it has for Shaeh. Avalon needed a kidney transplant since both of hers were too damaged to function properly and she also had to have her pelvis reconstructed with titanium parts.

Shaeh was not a match for the transplant; neither was Avalon's younger sister, Brekkan. So, that leaves Drake, right? You'd think so.

One afternoon, Shaeh brought an unknown visitor with her to see Avalon at the hospital. "Avalon, honey, I want you to meet someone," she said softly.

Avalon looked at him and wondered if her mother had taken up gold-digging with old men, now.

"Sweetie, this is Lance Bagley. He's your real father. He gave you a kidney so you could live."

Avalon felt a bomb drop and implode inside herself. "What do you mean my real father?" she asked.

Shaeh told her that she had known Lance back in her junior high days. They got to be really "close" friends and one thing led to another. Of course, Shaeh left out that Bagley was, at that time, her junior high volleyball coach that she always seem to need a ride home from the game, and her house was so dark and empty when they got there, so couldn't he just come in and keep her company until her parents got home from their night shift jobs?

"But, but, Mom, what about Daddy?" Avalon quietly asked.

"I really thought he was your daddy, honey. I guess I was wrong. Please try to understand. I was just a kid at the time, what did I know? I really want you to try and be friends with Lance. He really wants to get to know you."

"My whole life is a LIE!" Avalon cried out before busting into a royal sobbing session. Lance quietly walked over and sat on the edge of her bed and softly took Avalon's hand into hers. Avalon looked up at him through her fingers, saw the caring look on his face and wrapped her fingers in his, deciding to give him a chance.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/MG%20Round%203/MG-R3-5.jpg

It took almost all of the money Shaeh had stashed under her mattress to cover Avalon's medical bills. The trailer had been condemned and demolished during Avalon's recovery stay at the hospital. It was decided they'd be staying at Lance's apartment while Avalon went through physical therapy. Lance lived close to the clinic. Shaeh hoped that Avalon would, once again, feel the affection for her mother that was once there.

Avalon decided to earnestly adjusting to her new life. So this "real father" was basically a perv way back when if you thought about it, but people change supposedly.

"Hey, Real Father, take me for a walk." Avalon was heard to say almost every afternoon. Day after day, they spent more and more time together and Avalon discovered that she really did like this man. She still thought of Drake as Daddy in her heart, so one time when Real Father popped out of her mouth when she was speaking to Lance and it just sort of stuck. Avalon spent the better part of her nights with Lance, too, while Shaeh was at "work". Lance encouraged her to keep up her practice since she would be walking again one day and they were reserving her spot at Julliard. Avalon and her father quite enjoyed their musical evenings.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/MG%20Round%203/MG-R3-6.jpg

Six months into their stay at the apartment, Shaeh, Avalon, and Lance gathered in the sitting room for a chat over tea. Shaeh dropped a bomb --
"Honey, I hope you'll be happy. Guess what?!!! Lance and I are having a baby. Just think -- you'll have a real little sister or brother now."

"Mom! Omigosh! We'll never all fit in this little rental. What the heck! I don't know what to think," Avalon answered in her astoundment. She never figured her mother would ever have another baby and maybe, just maybe, her mom was actually seriously considering settling down. Hopefully. It could happen.

Mom and daughter and Real Father had a lively chat that day planning and plotting where to go from there. A new home was definately on the agenda, making sure Avalon would be close to the PT clinic, all the how-to's of how the three of them would make a comfortable life together -- with the addition of a little bundle of joy.

What a thrilling story Deatherella! Your girls always surprises me and make me laugh! And it was a breathtaking story there Singing Noel (... allthough I fear for Tree4me's head. ;) ), and your pic's, as always, are outstanding.
In fact, all the stories in this contest are so good! As much as I've enjoyed being a contestant, I must say I've enjoyed even more to get to know all of these funny, sweet, original, dramatic and emotional mother-daughter relationsships. I feel petty for the judges, they will have a hard time this round ;), I think...
aba23, you really impress me with your collages! From what you've said earlier, you are not so experienced with this, but your collages are creative and tasteful in my opinion. Keep going!

Hey contestants and judges. See this thread is booming with ya all! I wish I had all of ur scores up, but, I along with you all, am still waiting for the third set of scores. You know the drill, if I don't get them by tomorrow afternoon when I get home from school and settled in (around 4:30pm EST) then I will judge them myself, and have them up sometime after 5 or so, just depending on what all I have to do tomorrow evening.
Either way though, I'll more than likely get those scores to you all by tomorrow evening/night.
-clw8
And once more, Don't forget of the Monday deadline. If I'm not mistaken, as I've said in the round 4 post, BP would probably only give me like a 1 week extension probably, but, seeings how it's taking 2 days to get in judging scores, I really don't wanna extend this contest much further than it's original cutoff.

And, it's still not to late for someone to submit a prize for the winner. Please PM me if you are interested. If no one submits a prize, then the winner will just get a star.

Ah, I'm sorry that you are confused. Is it the way I lay them out? If so, I am sorry, this is the first contest I've ever hosted, so, I am still getting the hang of this and that.
Basically, I believe the only reason you personally got any points deducted was b/c of having too many pictures, which, would be points deducted from the "rules" catagory.

... I've seen some "uproars" in contest before, it honours me that no one's brought that to the table yet :)

- and why should we? Excellent hosting clw8, promptly and tidy posting of rules, schedules and results. What more could we possibly want? As far as the judging goes, I am very pleased for myself this round (thank you thank you thank you), but most of all I’m pleased with all the things I’ve learnt through the two competitions I’m presently in, thanks to the judge’s comments and tips. I might agree or disagree with +/- points and comments for my fellow contestants, as we cannot all have the same opinion, some stories/pictures/style/humor/etc applies more to some than others, anyway. Personally I love ALL the entries, they are so unique, and I would probably have given every one a 20/20 score if I was a judge. Which I’m not, but I wanted to tell you anyway. :)

singing_Noel- Your story is very creative. I loved the whole twist with the voodoo doll & genie!

Jenny- I love how your story isn't a normal mother-daughter. It's very different and not like everyone else's.

Cheese- Great job on that last round. A new family member is definitley life-changing.

Deatherella- I love the way you wrote your story. I love how you created an actual storyline to it.

KyriaT- Amazing. The way you used letters was totally unique, and I love that you brought attention to preeclampsia. I can tell you worked hard, and it was worth it.

& clw8, I agree with KyriaT. You've always been so on time with scores and very generous with your extensions. You're a great host, don't worry about a thing ;)

Sorry about the length, I just had to say something about their stories and how much I enjoyed them. :thumb:

Thanks for the nice comments from everyone. I think we all got better and better as the contest went on. Me, well, not being sick and feeling like I was falling asleep in front of my pc when I was trying to dream up entries has paid off. My final round will be in after I get done furnishing Shaeh and Avalon's new downtown home. Their story takes off -- I mean finishes -- there.

Hey all!
As usual, just another little friendly reminder of the MONDAY deadline. That really only gives you all 3 days!

Also, would like to express the possibility, or 50% chance, that I might be absent from my computer tomorrow, as, I might be going out of town. However, I don't know if this is going to be the case or not.

But, figured I'd mention this, just in case anyone had any questions or concerns concerning the last round, so they will know to ask now, or, if they ask tomorrow and I don't respond, then they know why. :)

But, knowing the way my life goes, I'll be stuck here in front of my computer tomorrow, as always.

"Now, Leo, just remember that I'm only going to be gone for a couple of months, and I'm sure that you can handle it. But do you think you can handle it?"
"Of course I can handle it, Lucy. Who's been there since the very first day you opened the restaurant?"
"You."
"And who's the guy who worked overtime for normal pay when your son was sick?"
"You."
"And who..."
"I get it, Leo. I get it."
"Now, really, don't you worry, Lucy. You just stay here with your sons and relax until the baby comes. And isn't Mia going off to college tomorrow?"
"Yeah..."
"Well, then why are you talking to me instead of spending the day with her?!"
"I've spent the entire summer with her. She's spending today with her boyfriend, but I'll see her tonight."
"Oh."

---

I still couldn't believe that Mia was leaving. I mean, she had deferred college for a year so she could earn up some money, decide what she wanted to do, and take some community college courses. So, in that respect, I had an entire extra year with her.

Yet Mia was such a big help; babysitting her cousins, Conor and Blake, when our normal babysitter couldn't and working long hours at the restaurant for months before sales really took off. Things were going to be a lot different without her around. Of course, I wasn't going to miss her just because she was helpful! I love her so much, and she'd been living with me for the past 13 years! But why did she want so badly to go to that big fancy music school that is so far away we need an airplane to get there?

---

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/sharon-marie/lucypierceblakeconortable.jpg

At breakfast, Pierce was excited but also sad about everything that was happening.

"It's just...it's great that you get to be home for a while, and that we're having another baby, and our sons are so great, and Mia is going to a great college. But Mia's been as big of a part of my life these past 4 years as she's been a part of yours. I'm going to miss her a lot too."
"Of course," I nodded. "I'm just kind of upset that she chose to spend today with her boyfriend instead of us."
"Oh, don't be, Lucy. You were a teenage girl once. When you were 19, would you have rather spent the day with your boyfriend or your parents?"
"Well...I guess you're right..."
"Just don't worry about it. We've got to be happy for Mia, alright?"
"Alright."

---

I wasn't sure what I was feeling at that moment. I was happy for her; of course I was. She was getting to go to college, something that I (unfortunately) never got to experience. She was going to have to time of her life there, I could just feel it. However, I just could not help feeling like this was going to be a big adjustment for me; an adjustment that I did not think I was ready for. Oh my goodness, does that make me selfish for thinking that? I think it totally does...

---

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/sharon-marie/megacollage.jpg

Finally, Mia came home. I tucked the boys in bed and decided that I really needed to talk to her.

"Mia?" I asked as I walked up the stairs, slowly, to her room.
"Yeah?" She asked with a slightly irritated tone.
"I think we need to talk."
"About what?"
"Are you sure you're ready to go to college?"
She looked at me like I was crazy.
"Of course I am. The question is, however, are you ready for me to go to college?"
I paused.
"Umm, well...that's kind of what I wanted to talk..."
I was interuppted.
"There's no way I'm not going to college just because you don't want me to, Lucy."
For some reason, I got slightly offended by this comment.
"Geez, what's your problem, Mia? Are you SURE you're fine with this whole college thing?"
Now it was Mia's turn to pause.
"How'd you know?" As she started to cry.
"Umm..." I have to admit, I was slightly confused. "I just thought, because of your attitude...that you weren't sure...I don't know..."
She started to sob now.
"God, I'm such a liar!!! I don't think I'm ready to go to college!!!"
OK. So now I was really, really confused. I thought I was the one who was supposed to be having the mood swings.
"What do you mean?" I asked, trying the comfort her.
"We've had so many good times together. I don't know if I'm ready to leave them all behind as just memories, you know?"
Trying to calm her down, and possibly make her laugh, I went along with this statement.
"Of course we've had good times together! Remember the time I dropped that salad for the MAYOR and you completely distracted him so he didn't even notice? Or the time we ice skated and could even stay standing for more than a second?"
This brought a slight smile to her face.
"Or the time I painted your portrait and it turned out really, REALLY, bad?"
"I remember that," she grinned. "I turned out looking like Hilary Duff on drugs, with Lindsay Lohan's hair."
We were both laughing now.
"But I'm still going to miss your pancakes. Your pancakes are the best known to man I tell you. And your dance moves. You're a pretty, um, "great" dancer."
"You know it." I laughed.

---

And I don't know how, but I made a girl who was sobbing and scared into a girl who was confident about her situation.
"I know you're ready." I told her. "You're smart and pretty and will make way cooler friends than me in no time."
"Well, I don't know about that. You're a pretty cool lady, Lucy."

---

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/sharon-marie/lastpicminusportrait.jpg

Soon morning came, but I tried not to notice. I still didn't really want Mia to leave, but I knew that now we were both really ready for the change.

"Call us every day for at least a week." I made Mia promise.
"I will, don't worry."
"I love you, Mia."
"I love ya too Lucy."

As I watched my niece drive away, I was so proud of her. For everything she had accomplished and the beautiful young woman that she had become. I knew her mother would be proud of her, because I sure was.

I also knew that, even though my family with Pierce was growing, that I would make sure I called Mia all the time. Because I would love Mia as much as her mother did for the rest of her life, because that's why I got the honor and privilege of raising such a clever, beautiful girl.

I might post this here, so that everyone knows.

Due to an unfortunate family event, the scores I will post may be a little bit late. I have already finished Jenny's, but that is because she has already posted. I am terribly sorry about this, but this can't be helped. Unless I can get online at school tomorrow, I may not be able to post scores until late, and I am terribly sorry to leave you guys hanging like this.

clw8 - I hope you don't mind me posting this here, but I thought it would be fair that the contestants knew too.

Dear diary, Tuesday, 3rd of March 1906
I am so angry! I have never been so mad and disappointed in my entire life as I am right now. Our family, who you might think to be nothing but happy and safe, is dissolving. My life is in ruins, I am in despair, and I don’t know what to do. I’m writing this to clear my mind, and to try to understand what actually happened.

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims%20contest/Malfrid69crybeggeok.jpg

When I was in the hospital, the idea of becoming a nurse was planted in my daughter’s heart. Malfrid after this commited to her studies, and I must say, she has done surprisingly well. She has in fact done a lot better than her younger brother. After her final exams last year, she told me that she had given thoughts to studying medicine at the university, and become a physician instead of a nurse. It was a bit surprising, I must admit, since, as far as to my knowledge, there are not many female doctors in our country, if any*. When her father heard about this, all he had to say was “Out of the question!” And for months now, there has been no more discussion about it. Until yesterday, when I found Malfrid crying in the kitchen, and when she literary begged me to help her, to promote her strong wish towards her father. So I decided to at least try to reason with Mons.

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims%20contest/Malfrid70dagbok.jpg

There was no room for discussion. I tried to argue, that with her excellent grades and commitment she could do it. So be it, that not many women had done it before her, I couldn’t see why Malfrid couldn’t. “Have you gone out of your wits?!” Mons said, with chill in his voice. “Being a physician is not a proper work for a woman! Not under any circumstances will I let my daughter do such a thing! I can’t believe that you would even consider such a horrendous idea! What will be next? Voting rights for women?!”

At first I couldn’t think of anything to say. But then I told myself; I will have to fight for this. I want to do it for Malfrid. And I will have to speak up for myself and my beliefs. I could not imagine that Mons, this intelligent and caring man, would not see my point. “Well actually, now that you mention it, Mons” I argued, “Women have been granted the right to vote in New Zealand, Australia and in several other states in the New World. I’ve read in the newspaper that in Finland women will be able to vote this year, and the question has been raised, even in our country**.” And then, as in a nightmare, I saw Mons’ face turn white, then red, and then white again. We had a TERRIBLE fight. Maybe the first and only fight in our entire marriage. It all ended in the worst thinkable way. He gave me a harsh stare, picked up his hat and a suitcase, and left. And now I haven’t the faintest idea what to do. Without a man in the house, no support, and, very soon, without money. Dear diary, dear anyone, what am I supposed to do?

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims%20contest/Malfrid81BreakdownOK.jpg

Dear diary, Friday, 10th of April 1906
It has been a most difficult month, in more ways than one. I am grateful that Mons, in spite of our separation, has given financial support to me and the children, he could have chosen not to. Still, I find it very difficult to cope on my own, and I’ve shed thousands of bitter tears this month. Many times I’ve been so close to give in, and to beg him to come back, to ask for his forgiveness, to excuse my embarrassing insurrection. But something has held me back, and today it became clear to me what that something was.

Malfrid has been heartbroken since Mons left. And this afternoon she actually had a nervous breakdown. “It is all my fault!” she wept, “Oh mother, I’ve destroyed everything! If it wasn’t for me and my crazy ideas…”. “Well”, I had to admit, “Your wish to study might have initiated it, that’s true. But when it comes to the bottom line, it’s not about you. It’s about me. What I am, who I am, and what I believe in. And I do believe that women should have the right to study. To become doctors. Or lawyers and architects. To teach, to become politicians even, if they want to. I wanted to study and have a career as well you know, but it was impossible. But you can, and you will be a great doctor! So don’t ever let me hear you say “crazy ideas” again. This is your dream, and what YOU believe in, your purpose in life. So follow your heart, my sweetie, follow your dreams and don’t let anyone, not even your father, take your dream away from you.”

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims%20contest/Malfrid94sufftaleOK.jpg

Dear diary, Wednesday, 13th of May, 1906
I’ve done something unbelievable! I’ve joined “The Norwegian Association for Women's Rights”***, and I feel very excited. I have met so many intelligent and strong women at their meetings, and the purpose is really important to me. We work for women’s right to vote, and our group is considered quite radical, but I really believe that we will succeed. We have to! Friends and neighbors are shaking their heads about my “madness”, but I’ve reached a point now, where I can’t turn back. And I don’t want to. I feel so excited! I really feel this is a fight worth fighting for, and if I can contribute, in any way, for my daughter, and for everybody’s daughters, to have more freedom and choice in their life, then I can truly say I have accomplished something in my life.

For Malfrid studies it seems difficult at the moment. I can’t see how we will be able to send her to university on the allowance that Mons gives us. She tried applying for scholarships, but so far we haven’t found any that would support women. So it looks like she will have to give up her dream, which makes me very sad. Malfrid takes it hard, but understand the situation.
As for Mons and me, we are now on speaking terms, but there doesn’t seem to be a hope for our marriage. He still lives at the hotel, and even if I really wouldn’t want to end up a divorcee, this is most likely my destiny. I want to be strong, and say that it doesn’t matter, but the truth is that it does. One thing is the stigma and the scandal of being a divorced woman, but more importantly, I still love Mons. When I saw him the other day at the solicitor’s office, I realized that he can still make my heart jump. And I wish he would come home. Oh, have mercy on my week soul; I miss him so much…

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims%20contest/Malfrid100middagOK.jpg

Dear diary, Monday, 13th of July, 1906
You can never be sure of anything in life. Not for worse, but not for good either. Surely I didn’t expect, after all that has happened lately, the events of today.
After our last rendezvous at the solicitors’ office Mons asked me for dinner, as he had something to discuss in more private surroundings, as he said. I feared the worst, but as it turned out, there was no reason to be worried. On the contrary! What he wanted to tell me was revolutionary. “I am proud of Malfrid you know” he said, “And this has never been a question about my love for her. I have difficulties to come to terms with it, but I’ve realized that modern times are coming, and I don’t wish to be one of those men hostile to progress. Even if I am still worried about how Malfrid will manage, I am willing to support her. Eh – within limits of course! I assume that she will only permit female patients?” Well I couldn’t give him any promises about that, but I did find the opportunity suitable to let him know, that despite of our differences of opinion, I loved him dearly. I think I know him quite well, and he was not untouched by my words. After clearing the air, we actually had fun at our "date"! Sweet God, I can’t remember having so much fun since our infatuation days!

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/FrauT/Sims%20contest/Malfrid102hjemmeOKx.jpg

Dear diary, Saturday, 5th of December, 1906
I know I haven’t been writing for many months, but I’ve been so busy with my work for the association and more important, I am busy being happy! My happiness is beyond description! Life has taken the most amazing turn, and I almost feel like I’ve been dead and given a new – and better - life!

First of all, Mons has decided to move back in, and although we still don’t agree in certain issues, there is a deeper respect between us. I admire his ability to digest the new circumstances and his basic love for our family, and I think that he, deep down, is proud to have a wife that doesn’t give in easily for something that she believes in.

I am thrilled to be together as a family again; bringing up our children, spending time together. To some this might seem boring, but I must say, knowing that it’s not inevitable, the deep satisfaction of having the whole family around me, it is priceless.
Well, actually one person is missing, but she is always on my mind, anyway! Malfrid is now studying medicine at the university, and she is doing well. She is working so hard that girl! Her commitment to her future profession is impressing, that is for sure! I admire her accomplishments, it’s been a bumpy road, but she has grown up such a dedicated and hardworking young woman. Knowing that I’ve contributed a little bit to making her able to fulfill her dreams, makes me so proud! I still worry about her, and for the many difficulties she might run into, but I have so much respect for her. She has become all that I didn’t dare to be, and more. Who would think that this little sensitive girl, afraid of the dark and unwilling to do her homework, would become one of the first female doctors in our country? To me, that proves that anybody, if they put their minds to it, can make their dreams come true. Nevertheless, as her mother, I can’t help thinking that she is, in spite of her accomplishments, my fragile butterfly, my innocent and sweet little girl. Doctor or not, I to me she will always be my little girl.

Just a few comments:
Since this "story" is based on some historical facts, I've added a few notes below. I had an amazing time researching for it, and incredible difficulties to shorten it all down, believe it or not. I know it's still long, but hope you wont be too bored reading it.

I want to thank clw8, judges and contestants for this great competition, I've enjoyed it tremendously! I look forward to see and read the other stories, good look everyone!

Round Four: You Will Always Be My Little Girl

Juniper & Jubilee Randall

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I’m so proud of my little girl. Juniper has accomplished so much since the age of fifteen. She obtained a veterinary degree at Academie Le Tour and is now a well-known veterinarian here in Belladonna Cove. After she completed college (Summa Cum Laude!), Adam, her high school sweetheart, proposed to her at her father’s favorite spot, Woodland Park. She accepted his proposal through tears of joy.

http://i44.tinypic.com/11uvwd3.jpg

Six months later, the happy couple was walking down the aisle. As I watched, I couldn’t help but remember her very first steps. After that, images of her as a little girl came to mind. I thought about her first day of kindergarten and how she clung to me the whole time, about her first basketball tryout, and how much she looked like her father.

http://i39.tinypic.com/2duz6g.jpg

A couple of years after the wedding, the couple came to me with great news: They were expecting! I was going to be a grandmother! Boy, did I feel old. Little Riley is two years old now. She is so precious to me. I see so much of Juniper in her.

http://i43.tinypic.com/29x7pxc.jpg

As for me, I now own my own chain of restaurants and still work photography on the side. I’m getting old, and the age is starting to show. I live alone, but am visited by my family regularly. I haven’t re-married and don’t intend on it. I can live without a man in my life. Though it was ages ago, Joel’s death still haunts me and I still love him with all of my heart. I can’t imagine ever loving someone else. I'm constantly asked why I never moved on and why I still wear my wedding band. The answer is that nobody else is right for me but him.

http://i43.tinypic.com/2cp5hd0.jpg

Watching my daughter live her life and experience things fills my heart with happiness. Her little family is all I have left in this world. I try to be the best grandmother I can be to Riley. Although she is my pride and joy, I try my best not to spoil her too much. Watching Riley take her first steps reminds me of the past, when June-bug was growing up. The two of them are so much alike, it’s almost scary.

http://i39.tinypic.com/skuakx.jpg

It seems like just yesterday that I brought Juniper into this world. She was a very calm baby. She hardly ever cried and smiled more than I’ve ever seen a baby smile. Before I knew it, she was taking her first steps. She’s come a long way since birth and grown into a wonderful woman. I couldn’t be prouder to call June-bug my daughter. No matter how old she gets, what she does, or where life takes her, she will always be my baby girl. Nothing will ever change that.

Sorry about the lack of awesome and about how short it is, my boyfriend broke his jaw and most of his teeth, so I’ve been a nervous wreck making sure he’s okay. :( Anyways, I love the finales so far! I’ve got some good competition. Good luck to every single one of you! :)

Good luck and spit three times, as we do here in Greece (= more luck, and to get the evil spirits out of the way!).

Yesterday we celebrated Candice 18th birthday. I was so happy that we were together. Her Dad and I, we financed her first car and Candice and I moved finally into a bigger and more beautyful house. It has three bedrooms and space for a garden behind the house. I did not tell Candice but the house is hers.

http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt183/aba23_photo/newshinehome-1.jpg

When I bought it I payed it fully and her name is in the contract as the rightful owner, when I will be gone. Yes. A year ago I found out that I have cancer. I did not tell Candice yet, I do not want her to stop chasing her dreams because I am sick. But I feel that I am coming closer to my end.

http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt183/aba23_photo/SOPHIE4a-1.jpg

I had to cut my hair and wear hats all the time, I lost about 10 pounds alone the last 1 1/2 month, Candice thinks it is because of my 'excessive training' and all the 'sports diets'. In fact every morning when she goes to school my friend Cindel House, well her husband, who is a doctor, comes to see me.

http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt183/aba23_photo/Meetinghousecollage-1.jpg

I am already arranging everything, the new house will ensure that Candice has a place to live, maybe together with her boyfriend Levis? The car will ensure that Candice is mobile and can go to college, her Dad will help out with gas money (yes he knows about my illness and he promised me to stay with Candice for the time after I am gone). Well I now started to write everything down, things that I might not be able to tell Candice, I will write thoughts down for my grandchildren that I might have in the future.

http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt183/aba23_photo/sophiewriting2-1.jpg

Candice is a beautyful, young woman and I know that she will be successful once she finishes her study of architecture. The pain of the illness is getting worse but not as worse as the pain I feel thinking about telling my little girl that I have to leave her. I do not know how to do that. I hope she will know that her Dad and I will always be there for her, even if we are not physically close. In her heart I hope we will have a place, as she will always have a place in our hearts. This is my goodbye to this world and my beautyful daughter Candice.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/MG%20Round%204/MG-R4-1.jpg

Here we are, one happy little new family, standing out front of the house Lance bought for us downtown. I just want to point out that, yes, Avalon is standing. She said she could stand for a few minutes while she waited for someone to get her wheelchair out of the car trunk. Well, she stood for more than a few minutes, and I think she's been lying about how well she can use her legs again. Imagine that -- lying to me, her mother! I wonder where she got that from.

The house may not be the grandest place around but Lance could afford it and it had enough space for us and a baby. I'm figuring over time, and after I can get back to work earning some coin, we can fix it up really nice.

I felt like a blimp and thought the baby would never come. It seemed to be taking its sweet time, but finally delivery time came. Lance and Avalon stayed with me throughout my labor and delivery. It was pretty painful. I had quite forgotten how much it hurts to pop a kid out. Lance was so excited when he saw his son. Perhaps a little too excited. He jumped up and down with glee, joyfully clapping his hands, ecstatically looking over the baby before promptly having a heart attack.

"Mom!!! Mom!!! You killed Real Father!!!" Avalon jumped out of her wheelchair screaming. "How could you?!!! Oh! Oh! HELP, SOMEONE, HELP!!!

I ran over and held Lance's head in my lap telling Avie that I was sure it was just a stroke or something -- that maybe he was a little too old for all the excitement and that the doctors would have him as good as new in no time.

She grabbed his hand crying, "Real Father, wake up! Real Father, wake up!" When he didn't, she looked at me and said, "Everything's ruined all over again. I can't do this anymore. Quit wrecking everything all the time, Mother."

My baby girl got up and stomped out of the room. I knew she could walk.

Lance was a nice man and I'm sorry he is gone, but I sure am glad I married him before he kicked it. That nice chunk of insurance money and house are such a comfort in my grief. I thought for sure Avalon would come to his funeral but she didn't. She hadn't answered any of my messages on her cell. I was so worried about her -- wondering where she was, how was she taking care of herself, what if her legs went out on her?

We've had plenty of disagreements in the past but this one is so totally unfair towards me! I did not kill Lance! I never saw that coming and she shouldn't blame me or ignore my concern for her. Where was she? I missed my daughter!

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/MG%20Round%204/MG-R4-3.jpg

One afternoon, while I was enjoying some quiet during little Jeth's nap, the doorbell rang. My goodness! It was one of Avalon's friends from our old neighborhood, Don Lothario. He thought I'd like to meet my new grand-daughter, Donna.

"Um, grand-daughter? What are you talking about, Don?" I asked.

It seems that Avalon promptly ran away to her old haunts looking for who knows what. She certainly found something -- she found herself pregnant. And dumped the baby on its daddy! Ho! I can't believe she would do such a thing. She was always so dependable. Well, I welcomed Don and the baby into my humble home asking him not to refer to me as Grandma, but Auntie Shaeh would do. Don's such a great guy and I so love having him here. We've become quite close, if you know what I mean.

More months pass by and still no word from my Avie. I was so worried about her until one day when she finally answered one of my texts. She said she would be performing at the Simharmonic Music Hall that week and would love for me and her little brother to come watch. I called and called until she answered. It was heavenly to hear her voice again. She said that she had "gone a little wild" for a spell but then had gotten her priorities straight and gone to Julliard and was now performing publicly. I was so excited to see her again.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/MG%20Round%204/MG-R4-4.jpg

Avalon was so pretty. She has grown up into such a beautiful young woman. Don accompanied Jeth and I to the performance. I saw that Drake and some of his friends were there, as well. Maybe, I should have paid a little more attention to that (what I thought was a) fatherly hug he gave her after her solo.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/MG%20Round%204/MG-R5-5.jpg

Next thing I knew, I was getting a letter with pics of her and Drake in the Bahamas -- where he proposed to her. Proposed. And, she married him! Ah! Oh! I was quite sure that a little someone was not quite done "going a little wild." Well, what was a mother to do? I certainly couldn't blame her for being attracted to him and all -- Drake is a good looking man. But marry him? Oh! I'm sure she just did it to annoy me. Thank the good Lord that Don was here to comfort me.

After their honeymoon, Avalon called saying her and Drake needed a place to stay while his place was under reconstruction. Of course, I couldn't say no. She is my little girl no matter what she does and I have missed her so much and I want to spend time with her again.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20My%20Girl%20Contest/MG%20Round%204/MG-R4-6.jpg

So, here we are, one big happy family. With all these people here, you'd think I could get back to work while one of them watched the little ones. But, no. Don is always out at night these days and Avalon must spend all her time practicing and Drake must spend all his time writing songs for her to play, blah, blah, blah. It must be a conspiracy. And let me tell you, if I see Drake look at me with that goofy grin on his face before patting Avie's bum and saying, "Who's your daddy?" one more time, I'm gonna scream. I feel like we're living in a V.C. Andrews novel.

I so wish it could be just me and my little girl, once again.

The Baur's

Final Round

Fern's growing up so fast, almost too fast, and now, it's the day of her graduation party. Tomorrow? She'll be leaving to catch a plane to get settled down for college. Wow. Time flies when your having a blast.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/HEART_shapedballoon/R4-1small.jpg (http://pics.livejournal.com/hell_sings/pic/00023qxq)

I decided to write Fern a letter, to help her remember this day forever, and not just, because it's a day to celebrate. It's also, unfortunately, a day to say goodbye.

I was seriously having writers block, and I couldn't figure out how to put eighteen years of joyful reminiscences down on paper. Man...I suck at being sappy.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/HEART_shapedballoon/R4-2small.jpg (http://pics.livejournal.com/hell_sings/pic/000244h7)

Fern came home, and it was time to surprise her. Her boyfriend Todd did a great job of keeping the party a secret, even though he didn't really think he did that great of a job...since everytime Fern would bring it up in conversation, he'd all of the sudden have to pee.

Everybody was over to celebrate with us. Our neighbors, her best friend Lee, and her big brother of course. She was so surprised, and she was even more surprised to find out that all of her hard work at school was well rewarded, after she got a glimpse at her new car, and I've never seen her look so happy.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/HEART_shapedballoon/R4-3small.jpg (http://pics.livejournal.com/hell_sings/pic/000259pw)

When the party was over, and the day ended, I decided to give her the letter, which I geniously disguised as a present in a gift box.

'Something to let you know, how you've change my life for the better,' I said. I left her to open it, and read it, and I surely didn't expect what would happen next.

She ran out to my bedroom balcony, in tears, as she begged...'Please mom, please don't make me leave tomorrow, I don't want to go to college, I want to stay here! With you and dad!' I was dumfounded as I looked at her, as I watched her cry, there was no feeling worse than seeing her cry. I quoted the letter I had given her, as I wrapped my arms around her to comfort her.

'The day you leave, and flee my nest, don't you cry Fern, spread your fly instead...just fly Fern, fly.'

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/HEART_shapedballoon/snapshot_169f42c0_36d3bbf9.jpg

I remembered when we were out on this balconey Fern, when you were just a little girl, small enough to fit in your toy box, that you loved to hide in more than you played with. I'd always find you, and I'd hold you as you cried...wondering why I didn't come sooner. I told you your braver than you know, and I showed you that was true. I took you out to the balconey, and tossed you in the air...and to both of our surprise, you flew Fern, you flew.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/HEART_shapedballoon/snapshot_169f42c0_d6d3bcfd.jpg

Mommy loves you, and no matter how old you get, or where you go...remember, you'll always be my little girl...

BECAUSE CHEESE WAS UNABLE TO POST THIS POST, I AM DOING IT FOR HERE.
Cheese's Round 4

Round 4 - You Will Always Be, My Little Girl (Payton and Addison Holden)

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg231/cgirl90/Sims%202/Megahood/Holden/PaytonandAddisonHolden62.jpg

In a few days my little girl will be all grown up and I can see the anxiety it has caused her in her eyes. I decided to sit her down and we discussed everything that was on her mind. From eventually becoming a mom to learning to live on her own, we covered it all. I could slowly start to see my words were easing her nervousness and she became more comfortable with the idea of becoming an adult. This talk we had helped ease my fear of letting her go and I knew in my heart she would be okay.

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg231/cgirl90/Sims%202/Megahood/Holden/PaytonandAddisonHolden72.jpg

I hugged her after and it made me feel like she was still that little and scared child she used to be. She puts up a good front, but I can always tell when she's upset. I guess the saying "A mother always knows" really applies to me.

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg231/cgirl90/Sims%202/Megahood/Holden/AddisonHolden82.jpg

Together we planned her party, knowing this could be one of the last things we do together in a long time. She'll always be there, but it won't be the same. I could tell she enjoyed the party and so did everyone else.

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg231/cgirl90/Sims%202/Megahood/Holden/PaytonandAddisonHolden52.jpg

So here we are and we still are as close as ever. She comes over every now and again to visit us and to babysit Flynn and it really makes me appreciate our time together. Someday she'll be a mother and have her own child, but for now, she'll always be my little girl.[/QUOTE]

aba that was such a touching story! And the story and pics fitting so well together. I am impressed with your collages *getting ideas*
Deatherella your story is so funny, that I had to read it twice just to have another laugh. Reminds me of the soap Dallas back in the ol' times, you never knew who would end up with who!
Again - what a great competition this has been!

That was a great entry Allie, I simply loved that last photocollage in different ages! Hope your boyfriends is feeling better, that sounded really painful :(
Good luck and spit three times, as we do here in Greece (= more luck, and to get the evil spirits out of the way!).

Thank you, KyriaT. Your finale was amazing, I must say. I love how you incorperated history into it. Thank you for wishing my boyfriend well..he has surgery today so hopefully he will be soon :)

Ok, I'm glad we got all the round 4's in on time :)

THE CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED...JUDGING NOW IN PROGRESS!

So, everyone, scores will be in ON or BEFORE Wednesday, unless some unfortunate events accure . . . and I pray they don't! . . . This seems to be the stressful point for a host :)

Had fun with you all as contestants, and thanks a ton for allowing me to successfully finish my first contest as a host! And, for anyone who want's to be in future contests by me, I submitted a "Sims Real Estate" contest in Saturday, so, if it gets accepted, then it should be out soon :)

Hope to see some of you wonderful contestants in it if it goes through . . .

-Until I get the scores,

This has been a great experience, and no matter how this turns out, I just wanted to tell everybody to give themselves a pat on the back, 'cause this contest wouldn't have been as fun if we all didn't do our best, and that's exactly what we did! ^_^ Thanks clw8 for running a great contest, and thanks to the Judges for doing your best to get those scores in fast, and always putting up comments, it really helps when you know where you can improve.

Now all I have to do is, do my best not to chew my fingernails off, as I wait for those scores to come in. LOL!

Oh happy day!! *dancing shuffle* :elephant: I'm so honored to get the bronze, and allie and singing_Noel you really deserved that gold and silver! Congratulations! It has been a great contest, thanks to our host, the judges and all fellow contestants. I'm really gonna miss you guys!

If you all permit, I would like to give a special honorary medal to aba. We have all learnt stuff and developed through this contest I think, but you aba probably had the most difficult position from the start, and you kept going, with good entries and a smile. That to me is impressing.

Gah! This is a great birthday present, I seriously don't think my final round was that great, since it was done in less than four hours, but I'm glad you guys did. Congrats alliemarie2323 for getting first, and Kyria for getting third!

Thanks judges, and thanks clw8, and I will definately take your suggestion, Tree4Me, and be in more contests. To tell the truth, I'm just glad I finished something, I've been in, and out of the hospital so much, I thought I'd never actually get this far without dropping out. So thanks for putting up with my lateness, at times, and all. [ISH Crying]. Thanks to everybody who was involved with this, and thanks to bP, and the S2C for letting this all happen!

Okay, I think that's it, and now I'm going to go eat dinner, 'cause I'm starving! LOL! ^_^

So congrats to the winners! Thanks to the judges and to clw8. And I am looking forward to the next contests with you guys!
