*Shuttlebay*
Lt. Woods walks into the shuttlebay looking cross, on top of everything he now has to deal with a missing shuttle he notices that commander Melena and Lt.cmdr. Hal and his faithful dog are taking charge of the situation. He approaches them just in time to hear the commanders plan to dispatch a probe.
Woods: Ma'am, sir I was just informed on what happened. I'm sorry I couldn't get here earlier but I was dealing with the Mead catastrophe. I think it's possible to rig a probe to look for specific warp signatures which shuttle was stolen anyway.
Dammou: Sir maybe Zan and I should start with a manual headcount of the crew. So the lad can use his pent up energy for something useful.

*OOC* Good Night
*Docking Bay*
Melena: It's certainly worth a try lietenant, do it.
Hal: It was the Spock that was stolen, apparently. That would probably work, or at least I hope so. Ah Dammou, that would be a good idea although it'll be pretty tedious if the computers decided everyones accounted for. Well, you never know what lengths these people could have gone to, do you? Anyway, if you excuse me I'll need to start questioning our colleagues from the Mead.
Melena: Of course, and really I should be returning to the bridge. Can I count on you to keep the investigation going here Lt. Woods? Let me know if there are any developments.

Woods: Did you say the Spock? That's one of the Delta flyer type shuttles. I'll modify a probe to scan for it's masked warp trail. Aye ma'am, lieutenant Kimble in your opinion how far could this shuttle have gone?
Dammou: Yes I know sir but the culprits left us little choice, if the computers don't work we'll need to do it the old fashion way with our eyes and ears. Zan assemble a team we're going hunting.

Kimble, who had answered all the obvious questions to the first Securrity peons to visit after his call, was glad that someone had an intelligent question.
Lt. Kimble: With those engins? Their probably already a good five-hundred lightyears away. Just edging the long range sensors, I believe...

Luv: *as sh'Raazh walks away* I'm certainly more capable than you are, pirr'nos!
Jodi turns back to her console and begins working. She wonders why it is that andorians seem completely incapable of understanding sarcasm. Given that she, as a trill, is an extremely sarcastic person, this can create problems. Well, Jodi is scarcastic at least. Norva Luv was extremely serious and studied on Vulcan, while Hamas Luve was extremely immature. She can't understand how he even made it past the Symbiosis Comission. All she knows is that it is exceedingly difficult to get used to seemingly endless multiple personality disorder caused by the parasite residing comfortably in her abomen. In her mind it was like being permanantly pregnant with a mentally ill, psychic child.
*Sickbay*
Marx: To hell with this! Why am I wasting my time talking to you? Just so you can send off your report to Starfleet Intellegence and get a pat on the back? No. F*ck you, I don't know what it is, but everyone here is wasting time.
Nexa: Calm down before I sedate you, human. What do you mean by wasting time? Is something else going to happen?
Marx: Well we might never know if your crewmates continuing fiddling around aimlessly like a bunch of first year cadets!
Marx turns away from the rodent-like woman and heads for the exit. He has no intention of sitting around and waiting to be questioned. He is going to the nearest comm panel and contacting Starfleet Command himself.
Nexa: Stop right there! You are not authorized to leave this medical bay!
*Science Lab*
Sharpp and Barclay enter the lab. The science officer walks over to a work station and peers into a microscope. He soundlessly waves the engineer over to where he is standing, and invites him to look at the specimen.
Sharpp: What do you think of this? Isn't it unusual? It is not quite Borg technology, whatever it is, but it is certainly unique. Perhaps it is derivitive of Borg nanites? You're the engineer, what do you think?
*Katian and Lennox's Quarters*
Lennox enters his quarters, which are suprisingly still. All of the felines must be asleep somewhere, they are not scurrying about his ankles for once. He walks quietly, as if attempting to maintain the tranquility. It is certainly a drastic change from sick bay, let alone the nearly crashed shuttlecraft Kafka. He sits down on the edge of a hideous purple sofa. Why was everything in their quarters beige or purple or blue?
*Ten Forward*
Kish sits in the storage room of Ten Forward, gaurding a special order for a certain science crewman. She decides to contact her over the comm. But how to not be inconspicious? She couldn't just come out and say what was really on her mind. She activates her civilian communications device and tries to think of something creative to say.
Kish: Kish to Crewman Saron, I have a special order of Cranberry Gaqh waiting for you in ten forward, when will you be able to come get it?

This is my life and i most certainly would not intentionally jeopardize the sanctity of my scientific privelage. So please, just work with me. Its for everyone's best interest.

Sharpp: Well, this is the point where I usually hand over the information to Lt. Cmdr. Riddle and go hide in the biology section until I am needed again... But since that isn't an option, I suppose we should try to look further into these nanites. First of all, you are an engineer, I am not. Have you seen anything like this before, anywhere? Because I have. They seem to have share some of the basic componants with early federation nanites. But, they are far more advanced. Whoever did this seemed to take the ball and run with it... Also, I know we aren't security, but why in the hell would anyone infect two starfleet command officers with these? My bets are on some sort of splinter cell group on the planet they visited, but thats just a theory.

Then maybe we should split up and one of us starts on the bridge and makes their way down and the other starts from the bottom decks? We should meet back here or something later and compare notes. So far we have accounted for ourselves, the chief, Cmdr. Melena and Lt. Woods. This is gonna take a while but it'll take longer if we stand here fretting. First to the finish then Khaled? Lets go!

Mizuki stood in the doorway of the living area as Janice tucked Hakeem into bed. She had inevitabley lost the game but her young client seemed happy enough. She had made little progress as far as counselling was concerned but she felt that she had gotten to know him a little. She didn't push anything as she always found it better for a clients to talk in their own time, especially if they are children. Her lilac antennae twitched weakly as she was exhausted but nevertheless, the offer of a refreshing drink sounded good.
Azuma: That would be lovely thankyou, thats if you don't mind. He seems like such a sweet child but it's obvious the pain he's in even if you'rre not a trained counsellor. Still, that was a good start although something tells me that I'll need to improve my kadis kot skills. Is he asleep?

Lt. Luv: The good news, commander, is that we have plenty of weaponry, the bad news it that the kisheyans have superior weapons. Now, they rarely chase people down unless there is profit or technology to be gained, or a risk of losing classified information or property. But if they should come after us with one of their warships, we would be dead. Killed, snuffed out, crispy critters, kaput, sleeping with the aardvarks, bird food, sent to the grand treasury in the sky, filleted, whacked, warp drive dust, deceased, lifeless, defunct, no longer living, departed-
Luv realizes that most of her crewmates are staring at her with both amusement and hatred.
Luv: Well, you get the idea. It wouldn't be good.
*Science Lab*
Sharpp: I know I did. Isn't it great? *sarcastically* I didn't know if you would be capable of answering such a complex set of questions.
Sharpp peers back into the mircroscope, squinting to get a better view of the busy little nanites, happily at work, plotting the destruction of orgnaic life.
At the same time, a Cmdr. Marx quietly enters the lab and makes his way to the nearest comm panel. The lab was nearby, and he thought he wouldn't seem suspicious there, what with being a science officer. He wonders where the Esteemed Lt. Cmdr. Riddle is, but only sees Sharpp and Barclay at the fartherst end of the room.
He cringes at the site of the human science officer, as he realizes who it is. He turns around hoping not to be recognized.
Sharpp: So, Lieutenant, do you think that... *spots Marx, who is attempting to get the comm to work* Hey, you! That comm panel doesn't work, we've been trying to get engineering to come down here and fix it for a week now- You should know that!
Marx: *turns around* It doesn't work? I suppose I should be going then. I have a very important communicae to make-
Sharpp: Lieutenant Marx! I can't believe they let you out of that damned insane asylum. Are you still convinced you're the supreme ruler of the universe?

Marx: But you aren't. Something strange happened on that planet. I have a hunch on who did it, but I need to speak with someone in command, its obvious that no one here is going to help me with that, so I need to go above your commanders heads. Is that what you're doing? Analyzing the tissue samples from the victims?
Sharpp: Yes, as a matter of fact. Listen, why don't you just-
Marx: Can I help? I was doing some research on the planets medical and technological abilities. The didn't produce very much of their own, but they managed to barder a lot. The underground resistance movement tended to steal even more...
Sharpp glares at Marx who is so humbly trying to be of assistance. He can't help but feel helpless at a time like this, his entire crew almost, was completly wiped out. But he could see that he was getting nowhere fast with the acting chief science officer. He turns to Barclay, with a pleading expression.

At that moment, Hal and Kira entered after locating the runaway Cmdr. Marx whom he was supposed to be interviewing. He approached the men hoping that Sharpp and Barclay had made some progress and that Marx would co-operate. Upon overhearing the latter part of the conversation, he jumped in hoping to answer his own questions.
Hal: An underground resistance movement? Sounds a little deep, no pun intended of course. Cmdr. Marx I presume? I am Lt. Cmdr. Hal, chief of security around here and I was hoping to talk to you about what happened, after of course locating you after your little escapade from sickbay. We don't need an office for that though and your aid will be invaluable here no doubt, especially seeing as sickbay gave you a clean bill of health. (to Sharpp and Barclay) Any progress then?

sh'Raazh stands up and takes the XO's seat next to commander Melena. Her antennas twitch a little as she shifts through the data of the Mead, she didn't even registers lieutenant Luv's comments. Most of it was pretty standard stuff, personal logs (which she skimmed over seeing they were private), duty shifts and so on. But the most recent entries of captain Saffin started to show increasing paranoia against his crew and Star Fleet in general. He also started to show an irrational hatred against artificial intelligence and lifeforms. One report mentions that he destroyed one of the holodecks for no apparent reason. Also troubling was the fact that she found several encoded messages and so far every attempt at unlocking them had as result a further degradation of the data. sh'Raazh looks up at the commander lost in thoughts.

Mogwar materalizes on the Spock. The Klingon commander manages to look even bigger and more intimidating in person than he did on the view screen. The fact that he is armed to the teeth isn't exactly the most reassuring sight to behold.

Tigan: My father was a Trill and my mother was a Romulan/Bajoran hybrid. *looks over at his nephew wondering how the boy is feeling*
Mogwar: *lets out a laugh* That explains your ugly noise.
Tigan feels himself going red with anger and embarrassment, he disliked the company but tried to hold up a certain macho attitude because showing weakness in front of a Klingon was dangerous to say the least. Archer gives Lt. T'lei a quizzical sorta of look, was the tumor was causing retrograde amnesia? Archer is surprissed by this and also the selectiveness of the amnesia was suspicious to him. He never really believed that cases of lacunar amnesia were real, the ones he had seen were all uncovered to be hoaxes so he can't help but feel a little suspicious at this moment. He decides that he should handle the situation carefully, the memory loss could be purely psychological due the stress or it could be biological, brains do have the annoying tendency to surprise you. Of course he couldn't exclude the possibility that it was both, cause and effect were seldom clear cut in cases like these.
Archer: I see, can you tell me what the last thing is you do remember before waking up in sickbay? *said in an empathic tone*

Tigan notices that N'vek is uncomfortable being in the pressence of Mogwar and he can understand why the Klingon must be at least 2 meters and 75 centimeters tall and equally broad shouldered. His teeth are like sharp daggers and his laugh doesn't reach his eyes at all when he turns towards the cadet. Hal rolls his eyes as Sharpp once again starts acting oddly, for lack of a better way of describing it, but decided to leave him to it although he does suspect that the two lietenants are hiding something as each had made iit obvious in their own little way. The bajoran decided that perhaps it would be a good idea to assign a security officer He turned to Marx as he replied to his outburst.
Hal: What happened on the Mead was unfortunate, to say the least, but now is not the time to play the blame game. We'll leave that to Starfleet Command and in the meantime we'll do what we can. I'll leave you to it then lietenants.
With that, he made his way back to security as he found himself with the mundane task of reviewing security logs from both the Mead and the Maverik. It was probably about time he checked up on the shuttlecraft incident to see what progress had been made there.

But a week later he makes mention in his log that he distrust his science officers and engineers and accuses them of trying to overthrow him using holographic technology and nanites. Kheyl stands aside and closely watches the chief and lieutenant Kimble's expressions. Kheyl can't think how this new information is helpful, granted there were a handful of Klingon officers aboard the Maverick but most Klingons would found stealing a shuttle a great dishonor and Mogwar has fallen from grace because of his activities so Kheyl is pretty sure that the chances that somebody of the Klingon crew is responsible for the shuttle theft is slim to none.

Melena furrowed her brow as sh'Raazh gave her report. The situation was certainly curious, to say the least, and had had such tragic consequences. The missing shuttlecraft situation couldn't have happened at a worse time. Security was stretched tight questioning the Mead's surviviors and accounting for all crew members and she wondered how her old friend Eloran was handling everything. She had faith in the earth raised bajoran but there was a lot happening at once. She turned her attention back to the acting first officer so as to concentrate on one problem at a time.
Melena: That is strange, it sounds like someone didn't want word getting out. It sounds like these people should be reinvestigated but only after we receive a report from sickbay on what caused this to happen in the first place. It's starting to sound as though there was something added to that food that wasn't for the flavour. Good work commander. No doubt we'll receive a message from starfleet command soon, no doubt telling us that this was somehow our fault.

Heading for the bridge, Raian and his team entered the turbo lift as the trill attempted to analyze the situation. He wondered why someone of the maverik crew would steal a shuttlecraft in the first place, never mind go to so much trouble as to cover their tracks. How they had even fooled the computerinto accounting for everyone was beyond him. He feared that by the time a manual head counted had been completed, even if they did find anyone missing it would actually be too late to do anything. Finding out who took the craft seemed pointless anyway as the priority was of course tracking it. Still, order where orders and he decided that checking engineering and helm officer would be a good start. PADD in hand, he entered the bridge to begin the tedious task.

or intrepid class ship like Voyager

I could give ensign Tahlandi a promotion to Lt.jg and make him temporary chief science officer until a more suitable candidate can be found (seeing his field lies in humanoid behavior and not so much in physics.)

Seeing as my computer has died a death (i'm using my dads spare which can't run the sims), I won't be making any new charas for a while. I could bring back Azuma as ships counselor and make her a stronger character. As for the ship, I'm not that fussed but I'm more familiar personally with the intrepid as I've seen more of voyager than the most recent star trek movies. This means that I could probably picture the layout better but on the other hand, the mission may call for something a little bigger and fancier. As I said before, makes no odds to me :)

Nope, don't mind at all. :)
Okay so that is taken care of, now we need a ship. Do we all agree on keeping the Maverick name or do we change that? And I'm all for exploration of the Gamma Quadrant as our main mission, but a Galaxy-class might be a bit large and Intrepid a bit small. Any other suggestions?
motom79
27th Jun 2008, 10:53 PM
The name Maverick is fine with me. I'm not really an expert on starship designs but star trek wiki can help us there:
http://www.memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Category:Federation_starship_classes
Or this little site:
http://www.st-intelligence.com/ship_database/dom/st_dom.php
The galaxy class has 42 decks and a crew of 1014
The sovereign class has 29 decks and a crew of 855
The intrepid class has 15 decks and a crew of 270
I'd say we pick the sovereign it's smaller than the galaxy class but bigger than the Intrepid class. It's technology is akin to the Intrepid class which we know and love from voyager but on a larger scale. Here is a link with some information (sorry if I go information happy)
http://www.memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Sovereign_class
As for the mission taking place in the Gamma Quadrant I say yea :-)
(a side note the sovereign as the intrepid class don't use the navigation position anymore they fussed navigation and helm into conn and have operations instead, I'll be more than willing to change sh'Raazh position to operations)
Mikoyo80

Looks like Miss Azuma was quite popular :). I'd be all for an exploration of the gamma quadrant as to me it seems rather interesting prospect. As for the ship, I vote for sovereign. When you put it that way moorespino, it seems like the most logical choice. The names still cool with me anyway!
Edit: My charas will be the following
Senior Officers
Executive Officer: Cmdr. Melena (Orion/Human)
Chief of Security: Lt.Cmdr. Hal (Bajoran)
Ship's Counselor: Lt.JG. Azuma (Andorian/Human)
Other
Security Officer: Ensign Zan (Trill)
I might even promote Azuma and Zan but we'll see.

I heart psychologist even clinical ones:jig:. Kidding aside I think the exploration of the gamma quadrant has indeed some interesting prospects almost nothing is known about it. Only that a large part of the Gamma Quadrant is controlled by the Dominion and they prevented exploration and even started a war over it. The war between the Dominion and the Federation and its allies ended in 2375. If we set the events after Nemesis (2379) we would be around 2380. So me thinks the Federation is ready to do what it does best: "to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before."
