The PTA of Pleasantville High is putting together a calendar to honor the Star Students of the class of 2010! They are looking for a skilled photographer to design each of the fourteen images to be published. Impress the PTA enough and your photos could be seen on walls around Pleasantville for months to come!

Description:

There will be four rounds in this contest and no application round. Each round you will be required to create three teens (students) each representing one month for the calendar. In round two and round four you will also be required to submit a group shot of the students you created. I will provide a short description of each student and why they have been chosen for the calendar. I will also specify which month the student must pose for. It will be your job to photograph the student in a setting that represents the reason they have been named a Star Student. You may also take it a step further and attempt to represent the month the student is posing for on top of showing why they are a Star Student, but it is not required.

Rules:

Every student you create MUST be a teen
Students must be your own creation
Only one entry per person
You may use pose hacks and Photoshop (photoshopping will not be judged)
Custom content is allowed
Please follow all forum rules

You cannot delete any of the students you create as they will be used in group shots in later rounds. This being the case, you may want to keep the students on the same lot if possible. In round two the group shot will depict the students from round one and two. In round four the group shot will depict the students from round three and four. The group shots will only have six students in them so anyone who doesn't have a ‘more than 8 sims per lot’ hack can still participate.

For purposes of this contest we are assuming Pleasantville is in the northern hemisphere. If you are going to represent the time of year in your photos please follow the seasons according to what they would be in the northern hemisphere.

There will be no eliminations. Whoever has accumulated the most points at the end of the contest will win.

Judging:

This is not a beauty contest, so the actually appearance of your teens is not going to be judged. The only appearance requirement will be gender.
You will be judged on the following-

Representation of Student- 0-10
How well you depicted their achievement.
Picture- 0-10
Lighting, Pose, Creativity, etc.
Adherence to Rules- 0-5
Self explanatory.

Round Guidelines:

Due June 22, 2009 @ 10pm PST (GMT -8)

January-
Abby Sims (female) is without a doubt a great student, but this isn’t the only reason she has been named January’s Star Student. Abby has always been a caring individual, but last year she put her caring to work and began volunteering at the local animal shelter. She can be found walking the dogs and playing with the cats at least four days a week!

February-
Cody Dahl (male) shined this year when he completed his long time project; a video game to help children in the special education class at Pleasantville Elementary learn skills like math and reading. Cody’s game made it so the school did not have to spend a large amount of money on a professionally made learning game. Cody is a long time gamer and became interested in developing games at a young age.

March-
Becky Slater (female) is NOT a drama queen, and don’t ever let her hear you say it! Becky has starred in countless school productions and has performed at the local playhouse many times since she first became interested in drama in grade four. She can sing, she can dance, but best of all, this girl can ACT!

Please submit one picture for each student depicting your best representation of their personality and achievement. Please provide short descriptions of each photo.

Here are my ideas for the star student calender. Being a photograph is still a hobby of mine and I would like to make it my Job. This contest might show me how good (or bad) I am.

January
http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt183/aba23_photo/Animallover.jpg
I wanted to show how Abby interacts with animals. These animals you see on the picture are her foster dogs and kiddies. At the moment she has one cat and two dogs. The animals follow her wherever she goes. Its a lively bunch of creatures and it was fairly hard to capture them while they are running freely.

February
http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt183/aba23_photo/Compuiterboy.jpg
I asked Cody to have a shot in his room. Here is where he developed the game. I tried to have him pose relative natural but confident. After all he is a Star Student! He has an extensive collection of games and accessoirs. His room is a little boys dream, filled with electronics, games and more games.

March
http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt183/aba23_photo/DramaQueen.jpg
Acting is Beckys passion and being on stage is all that she wants, thats what she told me. So I asked her to put on one of her customs and pose in a scenery of the last play they did. We did capture this shot not on stage but in the rehearsal rooms in the theatre building. I found the light there fairly better, and the athmosphere was much warmer, not only because of the fire in the back.

Due June 22 @ 10pm PST (GMT-8)

April:
Samantha Riley (female) is April's Star Student for her outstanding work done for the community. She led a group of her fellow students in turning an empty, trash filled lot into a beautiful garden and playground for everyone to enjoy. Samantha continues to put effort into beautifying our surroundings.

May:
Dane Miller (male) is not only a straight A student but he is also the captain of Pleasantville High's undefeated chess team. Dane is a chess master and does an amazing job of motivating and training his fellow wood pushers. For his great accomplishments in the world of chess, he is named May's Star Student!

June:
Diego Romero's (male) family came to Pleasantville from a large Spanish speaking nation when he was only two years old. For the past fifteen years the Spanish speaking population of Pleasantville has risen greatly, and while the children of the immigrants often speak perfect English, many of their parents don't. Diego has organized a weekly English class for these parents that is completely free to attend. Diego is definitely a Star Student for contributing so much of his time to his community!

Group Shot:
For this picture you must use all your students from Round One and Two. The students should be posed in any environment of your choosing. You are free to let your creativity fly with this shot as long as all six students are in it!

Please provide a brief description of each of the four photos.

http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/jan.jpg
Meet Abby Sims. Abby was awarded the January spot in the calendar because of her love and devotion towards animals. Abby participated in a 'Pet Day' sponsered by her local pet shelter, and is seen her with her dog, Sophie. The shelter holds the event every other month, and this picture was taken from the January event.
----
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/feb.jpg
Meet Cody Dahl. Cody has loved video games since the age of 3, when he would play his older brothers Nintendo. For the past few years, Cody has devoted his time towards creating interactive, learning video games for children. He is an inspiration to many and a hero for others. We proudly allowed Cody to represent the February spot.
----
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/march.jpg
Meet Becky Slater. Becky adores acting. She loves to have the leading role, but will take any spot available if she likes the plot. Becky is probably the best young actress in her district, and has been given the oportunity in the future to perform with some of the top actors of all time. With hopes of further polishing her skills, this is a picture of her onset at a play in March. Becky's star quality has granted her the spot of Miss March.

April

Samantha Riley is a special young lady. Her never ending drive to help people and make Pleasentview to a healthy city in wich people will sureley love to live, really stunned me. For the Photoshot of the April Spot I met her on a property which she and her friends turn into a new playground. The place does not look very welcoming yet but they started to pick up most of the trash, started with the attractions for the playground and in the back you can see the huge pile of sand which will later cover the playground nicely. All this organized by this amazing young lady, truly a Star Student-Samantha Riley

May
As I asked Dane for an appointment to shot his picture and he invited me to his "chess school' which is actually a room on Campus filled with chesstables, a kitchen and cozy sitting areas. It is clearly to see that Dane is proud of what he has accomplished. I asked him to stand in the middle the room so that we can show what he loves, and I am sure people will love him.
http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt183/aba23_photo/Chesspicture.jpg

June
The June spot is reserved for an outstanding young boy, Diego. To show his Spanish origin I asked him to have a shot on the family property, between all the horses his father owns I thought it would be wonderful. To my suprise Diego showed up wearing a traditional outfit which I find suits him very well. He explained me that his father is training the horses for big shows, which are about Spain and spanish speaking cultures, the outfit he was wearing would be worn by someone participating in such a show. Now I understand why teaching has such a big meaning for Diego, he teached me a ton about teh difficulties spanish speaking people have, during our time together.

Group shot
http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt183/aba23_photo/workout.jpg
The idea for the Group picture came from the students. They do wanted the picture to support the initiative "Sims in motion" going on in Colleges currently. The initiative motivates students to exercise more - and yes a star student also has to exercise.

Abby grew up surrounded by animals, so it was no surprise to her parents when told them of her plans to become a veterinarian. Abby's father raised horses, and her mother was a professional party guest. Abby spend countless nights out in the barn with the horses; seeing as to how she’d rather sleep in a hay mound than inside listening to her mother brag about different celebrities she had encountered the night before.
She much preferred the company of her pets over any friends she made at school. They didn’t judge her because her skin was too dark or her hair too red; they loved her because of her kindness and devotion to their well-being. Abby so loved animals that she decided she would give back and volunteer at the local animal shelter. It broke her heart the first day she entered, but just seeing all of the animals behind those hard iron bars renewed her confidence in deciding to become a vet. She needed to help them, and she knew that was the best way she could.

http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/tt26/xemptybrkneyesx/Cody.jpg

Cody grew up in China and moved, with his family, to American five years ago, when he was twelve. He knew from a young age that he was gifted, but instead of dwelling on his genius, he chose to do something good with what God gave him. After moving to the U.S. his family was blessed with another child, Ling. This was the final piece of the puzzle for Cody, and caused him to start work on the software that has landed him in this calendar. You see, Ling was born blind, and Cody knew she deserved the very same education he, himself, had gotten. Even though Cody loved games and computers, his main motivation for completing his long-time project was his sister.

http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/tt26/xemptybrkneyesx/Beckie.jpg

Becky has always loved acting. Her father once told her a story of how she ran on-stage when she was two and started saying lines of her favorite bedtime story like they were lines from Romeo and Juliette. Since then she was hooked, and recently discovered she had a singing and dancing gift as well. Acting was her true passion, and her father devoted his life to making it possible for her dream to come true. They both lived in a small one bedroom trailer, but no one at school knew of this. She was very popular, and everyone in her school loved her. Her dad spend every last penny on singing coaches and acting lessons, and even slept on the couch so she could have a bedroom. Her mother had died when Abby was two months old of pneumonia, and her dad had been lost for a couple years after her tragic death. It was like now he was trying to make up for that time lost with giving his daughter everything she could ever want, or need. She didn’t tell him enough, but she really appreciated everything he did, and loved him for being there for her.

Contests remaining in the Application stage for up to 2 weeks will be deleted. If you, the contest holder, cannot accumulate enough entries for a successful contest (10 entries) in a 2 week time, your contest thread will be deleted.

Round II.

http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/tt26/xemptybrkneyesx/Samantha.jpg

Samantha Riley, better known to her friends as Sam, is a proud granddaughter of the first PlantSim to inhabit Pleasantville. Sam has always felt at home outdoors, and can’t remember a time she wasn’t out watering roses or trimming a shrub. Samantha also loves giving back to the local parks and gardens and has faithfully volunteered at the annual planting of daisies at City Hall since she was four years old. Her most recent gesture has been, with the help of her parents and various other helpers, to restore a once garbage filled piece of land downtown to a thriving park. It is now suitable for grown-ups and children alike, and we all have Samantha to thank for this.

http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/tt26/xemptybrkneyesx/snapshot_9747bf71_3748c598.jpg

Dane Miller has always been well-loved by teachers and his piers alike. Some think this is not due to his charm or wit, but because he is famous heir of the richest man in Pleasantville, Frederick Miller. He’s always received straight A’s and honors in all subjects, and Dane has recently been the recipient of the coveted Pleasantville High’s Chess Master trophy. He coached his team to victory, and displays his prize not at school where many other’s are open to public viewing, but in his own bedroom where he can stare at it’s loveliness before he drifts off to sleep every night.

http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/tt26/xemptybrkneyesx/D2.jpg

Diego Romero was born in Brazil, but has lived in Pleasantville since he was two year old. Diego, since he came to the city at such a young age, speaks perfect English while his parents speak only words that are necessary for living in the large, English speaking town. This first gave him the idea to start a study group, and realizing how many other Sims were having a difficult time with the new language caused him to open up his group to all of Pleasantville. Diego prefers one-on-one teaching, and his “students” seem to learn much easier and faster when there are fewer people to distract them. So far Diego has successfully helped nearly a hundred other Sims finally grasp the English Language.

This group shot was taken in the park Samantha recently refurbished. Everyone felt it was important to be photographed doing their own particular passion.

April - Samantha Riley
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v124/Peeka/SC/sscalendar/April.jpg
Every weekend Sam goes back to the playground and garden that she and some students help restore to look after the plants and make sure everything is ok. After she has finished, Sam has a little fun.

May - Dane Miller
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v124/Peeka/SC/sscalendar/May.jpg
Dane loves nothing like a good game of chess. It can so many things at once and different things for different people - some improves concentration, some logic, others feel relaxed. Chess is just amazing.

June - Diego Romero

Diego giving Mr Aspir tips on how to pronounce those difficult English words. Parents like attending Diego's lessons as he is always calm, patient and friendly.

Samantha Riley is a lovly young lady who spends her weekends helping to turn an old junkyard into a nice serene place where children can play. She is a member of the SimCity's Compassionate Kids - Volunteering committee. Her goal is to help turn run down and old buildings and sights into places that people can enjoy.

Meet Samantha Riley. Samantha enjoys turning deserted, deprived, and junky spaces into clean, safe, play areas for local children and teens. She is motivated by the smiling faces and laughter she gets from kids at the finished parks when she visits them. Samantha is pictured here at her latest developed park. For her hard work and devotion toward the happiness of others, Samantha Riley was given the April slot in the calendar.

http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/may.jpg
Meet Dane Miller. Dane loves chess, as one can tell. He is quite competitive while playing, but after the fact is one of the nicest people one could ever know. He is extremely good at what he does and has won many competitions. Making his friends and family very proud, Dane Miller happily accepted to represent May.
----
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/june.jpg
Meet Diego Romero. Diego is a star in his own way. What he does for others is quite remarkable for someone his age. Knowing more about the English language then a lot of natives, Diego easily teaches others all there is to know to be able to succeed. This is Diego teaching a class just recentely, and made a perfect addition to the calendar representing June.

Due June 30, 2009 at 10pm PST (GMT-8)

July:
Adela Clark (female) is very much the Star Student. She was voted President of the Student Council by her peers and since then has organized amazing activities and events for her fellow students and their families to attend. The most notable event being the Pleasantville High Carnival she organized along with the PTA this past spring.

August:
Evelyn Lee (female) has been named August's Star Student for her outstanding abilities in the field of gymnastics. Pleasantville High's PTA is proud to have a student who they believe is well on her way to the Olympics! Evelyn began gymnastics when she was only four years old, and since then has won many competitions and has received many awards for her exceptional skills.

September:
Joshua Palmer (male) is the captain of the Pleasantville High varsity football team. As a leader on and off the field he has inspired his teammates to work towards victory in the championships! Joshua works hard at football but never lets his grades slide. It is our pleasure to name him September's Star Student!

Adela Clark has always been book smart. She cannot remember a time when she hadn’t spent a Friday night with her nose in a textbook, studying for finals. The only thing Adela loves more than reading and studying is being a leader. It comes naturally to her to run the Student Council and aide her class in decisions that they themselves would rather not make. To Adela, speaking to masses comes much more naturally than speaking to boys, especially a certain one she’s had a crush on since the sixth grade. In order to forget about such things, she often gathers in the commons, giving speeches to passersby that hardly notice she is there. Adela’s dedication to her position makes her our pick for July’s Star Student of the Month.

http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/tt26/xemptybrkneyesx/snapshot_d74ca940_774f42f8.jpg

Evelyn Lee’s parents enrolled her in gymnastics when she was only four years old, and she’s been at the top of her class since then. When scouts came to Pleasant view searching for gymnasts with Olympic talent, Evelyn was number one on their list. She is recovering from a recent ankle injury and takes any extra time she has at home to stretch and rehearse for the upcoming Olympic tryouts. Whenever Evelyn feels tired or the pain becomes unbearable, she just envisions herself on that podium with a gold medal around her neck. Her non-wavering dedication to her sport makes her our nominee for August Star Student of the Month.

Joshua Palmer can be simply described as your all American high school Jock. When he’s not out winning football games with his touchdown passes, he’s at the local pizzeria with the team’s cheerleaders living the high life. His life is perfect…at least when viewing it from the outside. Josh spends much time studying in secret fearing retribution from his family for not spending more time working on his throwing or running skills. Since the age of ten his father has pushed him towards sports, and he’s always been satisfied with the fame and attention he gets when walking down the high school halls. That is, before he met his secret crush. She’s taught him that there is much more to life than fame and popularity and Joshua has even begun re-thinking his college choice. He has been offered a coveted full-ride scholarship to Pleasant View State College, but has also received acceptance into much more knowledge based colleges like Simarvard and Simale. Even with his future undecided, his love of the game and thoughtful consideration of his future make him September’s Star Student of the Month.

Adela Clark is one of those students who are known and respected by almost everyone on Campus. Especially since she organized the Carnival on Campus. The Carnival included a costum contest and Adela organized for the three top costums a dinner with the schools president in his house. Adela is a dedicated student and takes her responsibility as a member of the student counsil very serious. For the photoshoot I visited her in her office and at the wall you can see the award for excellence and some parts of costumes that were worn by students at the carnival.
http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt183/aba23_photo/Studentcounsil.jpg

August
Evelyn Lee has found her balance in life, literally spoken. When she performs her gymanstic routines she has a wonderful feeling for rythm, grace and power. She is a perfectionist, working out every detail and every move. You can see she wants to reach the top, and she knows she has to work hard for it. So it was no wonder that the place were I found her to do the photoshoot was in the gymnastic hall. A quiet, sensitive and graceful young lady, that is Evelyn Lee. Dynamic, strong and dedicated that also is Evelyn Lee. A true star student.
http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt183/aba23_photo/Gymnasticpicture-1.jpg

September
Another sports talent on Campus is Joshua Palmer. American football is his passion and he already shoot and threw the football when he was a little boy. His three year older brother always played football with their Dad and little Joshua worked hard to keep up with them. Soon the hardwork paid of and with seven years Joshua played for the first time in a Team. Today he is one of the key players in his schoolteam and last year he was the player who had run the most yards with the ball. On the question whether he wants to become a professional, he answered that he was not sure yet.
Sports -Psychologist would be an option too.

No problem, sometimes real life gets in the way lol.

Is it possible to get an extention? I don't know about everyone else, but I'd like to see the comments before I take the next round's pics. I always like to know what they like and didn't like about my past pictures. If it's not a big deal for Happy or anyone else, of course.

I can grant an extension, but we do only have 3 days left for the contest. I'll extend round 4 to Tuesday (July 7) at 10pm PST. I'm going to try and find someone else to judge so we can get you all some comments!

Your sets look amazing! But I do feel the angles you chose really show off the setting more than the sims themselves.

I thought your posing and the outfits you have your sims in are really great, but the backgrounds need a bit more décor.

Corinne Wells has always been able to more fluently express herself on paper than in a face to face conversation. She loves writing and is so gifted that a collection of her poems has recently been published by a well-known company. In the above photo she can be seen giving an interview on a local television show to promote sales of her new book. For her continued dedication to the world of poetry she is the October Star Student of the Month.

Cameron Wilkinson gets his love of helping others from his parents who have committed their lives to the less fortunate. He has grown up traveling, going to different continents and giving aid to people who would otherwise have gone without. Whenever he is home in Pleasant View, he can be found either helping his parents around the house or playing with his two adopted sisters, Naima and Shreya, who his parents found in an orphanage on their most recent trip to India. For his love of the sisters he only recently acquired and his devotion to helping the needy, Cameron is our November Star Student of the Month.

Robert (Bob) Peeters is and always has been a musician at heart. When not studying or in class, Bob is, more than likely, playing one instrument or another. He is not only gifted musically but academically as well. His gifts have contributed to him recently being accepted to Simulliard, a prestigious music-based university known around the world to be one of the best of it's kind. Any extra time he has he devotes to helping out around the school; his most recent project has been to volunteer to clean the instrument storage room. For his love of music and all things scholarly, Robert has been picked for December's Star Student of the Month.
