I've been thinking lately about what a puzzle it is to me when people don't like reading! I am, and always have been, a voracious reader. It is one of the most important things in my life - I can't imagine a happy life that didn't include curling up with a good book for hours on end. It has without a doubt enriched my life in so many ways, I can't even begin to describe!
Yet my boyfriend is NOT a reader. Although I do understand the reason why he (and many others) may dislike reading (insecure about their reading skill/speed, not being introduced to reading for pleasure at a young age etc..) I still... just don't GET it!
Part of it is perhaps that I just feel... bad for people who don't enjoy reading. For all that they are missing out on... I have tried SO hard to get my boyfriend into books. Tried to get him to read, tried reading TO him aloud, downloaded audiobooks... but so far, nothing sticks. I just really want him to enjoy it like I do, and get the enjoyment and the knowledge that I get out of books.
Anyone else's thoughts on this?
