Need help finishing cloned object..

I am a newbie to the creation of objects, and have followed faithfully all tutorials that are available. Recently I found the templates for kitchen counters by Numerator. I followed the tutorial exactly, and it all worked, but I do not know how to recolor the cloned object. Also, how do I get the new object into the game after it is recolored. I am sorry, I am sure I missed the answer somewhere, but I have spent two days reading on forums, and tutorials,but cannot find an answer. I apologize for being a newbie, and thanks in advance for any help I get. :)

To recolor a cloned object the steps are the same as recoloring a Maxis object except...in SimPE click on ' Open' find the file you want to recolor, click Next/Recolor.
Save the file with a new name in your downloads folder.
Once you finished with your recolor you'll find it in your game.

I did everything like the tutorial says, and the counters show up in the game, but not the recolor. After recolored the file, I saved it under a new name, in downloads... what am I missing here?

Mmm...I've used the same templates for my kitchen and had no problem with recolors.
I agree, you're missing a step somewhere,but without seeing the file I can't tell.
Maybe you like to attach the SimPE file here, the one of your cloned object?

Is your new counter actually recolorable? Do you get the message this object is not designable?

The counter was cloned from a template made by Numerator, it never occurred to me that it might not be recolorable. I will check it out and see. Thanks for the replies everyone!!

I think you attached the wrong file...it looks like Numenor's counter.
By the way...it can be recolored. :)
