I have downloaded a whole bunch of custom content like hair and makeup, eyes, ect....but I can not find them on either body shop or when I am creating a family. The onlly way I CAN find them is to click on the dice over and over again to randomly choose a sim until one with custom hair or eyes comes up.
It is very time consuming and anoying. How can I make the hair show up in the custom content box when creating a family?
please help!
You guys are awesome!

Your hair might be binned so it appears in the same "family" with the other hair that color. Most people prefer it that way so they don't end up with two black-haired sims producing a blonde baby.
No idea why the eyes and makeup aren't immediately appearing for you, though.

In order to better solve your problem, please go through the following as listed below:
General - Installing Custom Content
You appear to not have read our great guides to downloading and installing custom content.
Downloading for Fracking Idiots (http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Downloading_for_Fracking_Idiots) explains the entire downloading process from start to finish in language designed for people who aren't computer geniuses. Please go through the whole guide before asking any further questions on downloading and installing custom content as pretty much everything you could possibly want to know is explained there - including info for Mac and Vista users.
Getting Custom Content to Show Up (http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:GCCTSU) explains what to do if you've followed all the instructions in Downloading for Fracking Idiots and your content still isn't showing up, or if content that was showing up fine before suddenly won't show up.
On occasion you might be asked to do a long FAQ - please make sure you do all the steps and don't just skip over them. You'll often find that these long FAQs have all the details you need. If nothing in the above FAQs fixes your problem you may post again detailing exactly which you have done and which steps failed.

I read and re read all of the guides on installing, from fracking idiot to frackin geneous. I thought perhaps my custom content was as they said in the guide...missing peices but I re downloaded some hair and clothes meshes/recolours that I put in my downloads and tried my saved sims folder and they don't show up either.
Again, I have to select "randomize" to find any custom make up, hair, clothes..ect..
What am I missing. I do have all the right ep's, I've re booted a hundred times.
It's not working

Did you just read both guides or actually do the steps that are outlined? There is a whole section with links to test objects that you didn't mention.
