There isnt any Victorian era Sims 3 CC out yet (to my knowledge, feel free to correct me if Im wrong), but since I am an avid Victorian era fan I have already played with victorian era sims in Sims 3. I just wore really long dresses and blouses that I colored with more victorian-ish fabrics. As for the furniture, I just chose the ones that seem most appropriate. Of course it will be a lot more fun when good victorian era CC does appear but for now Im enjoying it.

What about you? Or do you only play modern so far? :king:

I haven't done alot of quirky things with my Sims 3 yet since I'm still getting used to it. I do have some of the items from the Storybook set from the store and those would be appropriate for a Victorian setting, so I could do it. I have a whole neighborhood that's Victorian based in Sims 2, so I would imagine I'll eventually go there in Sims 3. Not yet though.

I definitely have not played Victorian style as far as their clothing goes, but I suppose I do tend to like more 'classic'-looking furniture, such as the aforementioned Storybook set. I have several of those pieces. In fact, the bed is the only bed that I think looks good enough to use.

Just came across this as one small idea to make Victorian buildings more "antique" looking:

No, I haven't really tried, because it would disturb me too much that there are only modern appliances/objects (stoves, toilets etc.) for the Sims to use. The furniture alone does not a victorian house make ;). And the clothing options are way too few. Waiting for the CC...

I haven't tried it in any Sims game because, well, I don't care to, but I always thought that it looked rather nice. The new castle set from The Sims Store may also help.

That's why I haven't tried either. There also needs to be horse drawn carriages instead of cars, but even then there will be random cars driving through them when they go out anywhere!

It would be great if the new ep's contained themed neighbourhoods that weren't all modern!

Yes ... and I just am not motivated enough to switch to every single sim in my neighborhood and change their clothing every time they age up ... otherwise it would drive me crazy to have half period and half modern hoods. It was easier being able to create custom townies and then ignore them in TS2.

True, this is the reason why I’m very interested in the upcoming expansion pack; here EA would run into this problem, after one generation Egypt and China would be filled with random ugly sims in random clothes. So they need a way to set default clothing sets for sims at the locations. They might get away with the look if npc children inherit skin and hair colour from parents, but clothing would be a problem I hope they has solved an easy way.
Sims has a role and gets a clothing subset list out of this, children inherit the parent role.

As for Victorian styled sims, this is why I made the long skirt with apron :)
For other items, I wanted a pioneer feeling for my farming sims, with the recolor tool you can do a lot you needed mod in sims2 for. Cheep refrigerator and the second most expensive toilet in wood, bathtub and the open shower, not correct but not totally way off. The most expensive sink look periodical. Stoves are a problem, best is simply to use a dark dull metal texture.
Hopefully things will go fast now people have starting meshing objects. Lots of sims2 objects to convert.

Ooh ... I never thought of this. Hopefully you're right and EA has considered what will happen to the second generation. I'm a pessimist, though, and I kind of doubt they have thought that one through. :(

I don't have any hacks in my game and the only CC I have so far is from the Sims 3 site because, with as community creation unfriendly as Sims 3 seems to be, I'm afraid any items I put in would cause issues when patches come out. This sucks for me because I love some of the stuff that's coming out, especially some of the hair. So if I decide to do a different time period, I'm just going to have to hit create-a-style.

In the Sims Livin Large I would decorate my houses in a kind of medieval castle theme. I thought it was pretty cool, but they were sad that they didn't have tvs or computers.

I already played Victorian era and The Western era in sims 3.
The nostalgia, the farming, the windmill give sense of peace. But I found it very hard to maintain the era as the town building didn't get along.

I downloded magnemoe's apron dress for my female sims(thanx for your creativity!!!xx) but with very few males' appropriate dress and town building  I gave up my town and enjoy teen/adult woohoo instead.

I can remember TS2, there was a great site which I can't remember the name but the creator of the site created only period sims' clothes and objects.
There are so many period era as Regency era, Victorian era, Roman era, Medieval era or even 30's, 50's. So beautiful male/female dress and hair. I created my Gangster town due to her creations.

I' so certain that The Sims game is much more enjoyable because of fan community (and great modders :llama: ).
