Hi there.

I was directed to this forum because I am having some problem with custom walls and floors.

What happens is I will download and install the content and it will load into the game but instead of the actual content showing up it will just be a concrete shade of grey.

This first happened with Naeniver's Regal Black Set (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=366109). With those I had the floors working just fine but the walls weren't showing up. Here are some pictures of what I am seeing with those walls:

I thought it was a problem with the set and I had been in contact with Naeniver about it. But then I had downloaded MissPiggi's Bathroom Tiles in Ikea Lack Colors (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=328342) and experienced the same thing except now with both the walls and floors.

Those have been the only two sets I have had problems with and it sucks cause they have to be two of my favorite floor/wall sets I have found!

I have no idea what could be the problem and any help or advice would be great!

Here is my setup:

I have only the base game installed as well as The CEP.
I'm running on a Mac OSX 10.5.8, 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo Processor, 2GB of RAM, and a NIVIDA GeForce 7300 GT graphics card (old I know but gets me through graphically intense MMO's so I'm not sure why it wouldn't be able to load some wallpaper).

Thanks to anyone out there who may know what is wrong!

As I remember it, this is caused by walls created with a texture size that Macs don't like - I'm not 100% sure, though, so I'll move to the Mac forum where hopefully others can confirm.

Haha of course it had to be a Mac thing. I figured so much. Hopefully there is a solution but thanks for moving this over!

Yep it's a Mac limitation that walls/floors and hair textures need to be sized by a power of 2. 256x768 doesn't fit that. You could ask the original creator if they would resize them. If you happen to have an intel mac you could also do it yourself if you have a windows partition or virtual. It can be done simply through Simpe.

Please do post in the upload thread whenever you find that walls/floors don't work for you -- some creators don't know about this, and they will never know if nobody tells them! (They can't very well test for OS X issues when they're on Windows .. and almost all wall/floor creators are on Windows, seeing as Homecrafter doesn't exist for OS X)

This was a very common problem in the original sims game with walls and floors being the wrong size. I had the same problem but every now and then some of them would randomly work which is quite strange.
