So, you think you have what it takes to be the Next Top Model? Let me tell you, you don’t. This is a contest to see who out of the likes of you is able enough to survive this contest. Not win, survive. Don’t get too excited – this is going to be a hard contest. However, if you have the will, you’ll find a way. Now, down to the nitty-gritty.

Who Am I?
My name is Rosmalia Parks, and I am the face of magazines and TV shows across the country. No doubt you have heard of me. Everyone who’s anyone and many people who are no one have heard of me, or perhaps you’ve even seen me. I doubt it though. Only the heads of major modeling companies have had the privilege of meeting me in person. None of you even come close to being important enough to meet me. However, the ones that are left by Round Four will rank high enough to meet me.

Basic Rules
There are these so-called "modeling hacks" that models often use to perform better. These "modeling hacks" are recommended, but not required. It is, however, requested that you do not photoshop your own photographs unless directed to do so. That is mine and the magazine editor's job. You must be 18+ to become the Next Top Model, and you must be a woman! Unlike in previous contests, all sizes of women are accepted. This includes non-standard sizes (downloaded). It is accepted, should you wish to compete, to be pregnant or to be a mother, but be aware that if you survive this contest, it will take up almost all of your time. I assume you are aware that you must be human, but one never knows. Models with previous experience (in contests before, used to display CC, etc.) are happily accepted.
NOTE: Models must be your own work!

Eliminations
All contestants will be able to compete in every round, because there will be no eliminations. However, if you miss a round then you will be eliminated unless you tell me 48 hours before the round closes.

Timeline
Apps: (http://www.modthesims.info/showpost.php?p=2894976&postcount=1) October 19th - October 26th
Round I (http://www.modthesims.info/showpost.php?p=2904603&postcount=86): October 24th - October 27th

Round II: (http://www.modthesims.info/showpost.php?p=2922803&postcount=330) November 5th - November 20th

Judging
I am a busy woman, and I do not have time to wait around for judges to make decisions. I myself am the first judge, but I will not be judging every round. There is some silly rule that states that there must be three judges in every round of a contest here, so I need three reliable judges to take those three places. They, plus myself, make up the General Panel. Each round, you will be judged differently. Always the maximum amount of points to be earned will be 50, but the criteria for judging may change each round. The criteria for the judging of that round will be announced along with the topic for that round.

For your resume, we need to see who you are. Get that lazy body into motion! We need a head shot and a full body shot (swimsuit or underwear) as well as a photo of you in motion. This can be you swimming, running, biking, exercising, climbing... Anything to show us you don't stay in one place! We’ll also be needing a full name, a 4-5-sentence bio, whether or not you have previous model experience and 1-2 sentences about why you want to be the Next Top Model. Also, please give us your marital status (single/dating/engaged/married/separated/divorced/widowed) and whether or not you have children or one on the way. The scoring system is as follows: (keep in mind you are only competing against yourself/other entries of yours for the resume/app round)
Outer Beauty /15
Creativity /12
Inner Beauty /10
Originality /8
Is she going places? /5
NOTE: Comments with a minimum of one are required.

Have fun, girls! And don't forget to FOLLOW THE RULES! :deal:

Checking in!

Apparently I need to choose either Sims 2 or Sims 3 for the contest. If you are interested, could you please reply with which one you want? I will decided within a day which one it is, and then I will post the timeline and prizes.

This looks like a good contest :) . If I were to enter it would have to be Sims 3 because I no longer have the Sims 2 :(

Sims 2; can't you have it both like in other contests?

Contests must be either Sims 2 or Sims 3, no more combos anymore :)

Argh, pish posh!! :( Can I ask what the reasoning is? Seems to me that there isn't enough people wanting to do just one or the other but combining the two where possible means there's better chance of contests getting enough applicants. No?

I agree, having it for sims 2 and sims 3 will let me get enough apps to have eliminations, right?

jewaukeela, I would enter but I am not good with modeling contests....so if you need a judge, I'd be happy to judge. I am currently EJ'ing on Sisaly's contest and I have participated in 3 or 4 contests in the past, plus I am hosting one now. ;)

Well, if it hasn't been decided, Sims 2. There are just so many more options.

Can I ask what the reasoning is?The advantages of Sims 3 (CAS sliders, custom Maxis clothes, endless decor options, etc) doesn't make for a fair competition between TS2 contestants and TS3 contestants... not to mention the content and gameplay of each version is so different that entries just wouldn't be compatible with each other.

Deatherella
20th Oct 2009, 8:58 AM
jewaukeela, send me a message when you decide. I hope it's Sims 2, but if you go with 3, I'll try and pretend I know what I'm doing on my kid's pc while he's at school and try to come up with something. I just prefer using what I know, not guessing and making a mess of my entries.

SolidGoldFunk84

I would definitely enter if it is just Sims 2. *crosses fingers*

I want to enter, but I notice in alot of these contest sometimes they have rounds where they need to photoshop the sims into different backgrounds which I can't do =( I suck at photoshop lol..

I guess I will go as far as I can and hope there are no rounds like that ^^;

edit/

Actually I will edit after it's decided whether this is for the sims 2 or sims 3 n.n

Not just that really, but I was thinking I wouldn't wanna go up against The Sims 2 contestants because they have modelling hack boxes to play with lol :P

I'll join if it's Sims 2!

Okay, it's decided then. Sims 2 it is. :D

Sorry if you only have Sims 3. You can still be an honorary member or a judge/EJ if you'd like, so you have an excuse to lurk. :D

EDIT: There will be no or very minimal photoshopping, don't worry. At most, it's not going to require more than what the most basic painting apps can do - maybe copy and paste a pic of your sim and the cover of a magazine that I provide together? I'll have to see.

Why do you want to be the Next Top Model?

I think the modeling scene could use a more diverse role model, with my mixed heritage I feel I can bring something new and relatable to the modeling scene appearance wise. Something girls from all backgrounds can look at and see themselves in. I want to be that model for multiracial girls such as myself. I want girls to see me and know that they don't have to be that cardboard cut out image to be beautiful.

Bio:
I was born in Brazil, to a Welsh/Brazilian father and Ethiopian mother. My parents died when I was still a child, I don't remember very much, however I do have a painting of my earlier years that my father painted. My name Arwyn. is Welsh for "Muse". Grandmother says I was his muse for his art, being his only daughter.
I didn't grow up rich with material items, but I dream big and have always dreamed of being a doctor. Here I am today, medical chief of staff of Mayhen Hospital.

I have little modeling experience, my primary focus was always my career and school. But I am finding it to be a positive experience so far, I enjoy studying fashion. I've always taken to the more educational side of anything, so posing infront of the camera is a new experience to me.

I hope to use modeling to spread my message of self love and maybe start some projects geared towards young girls and their self esteem, I have struggled with my self image for years and want to help other girls overcome their self esteem or self hate issues.

Yoga and Buddhism are sister traditions. As a Theravada Buddhist yoga is a big part of my lifestyle. I teach yoga classes weekly.

Why do I want to be the Next Top Model?
I want to be the next top model because all my life I've wanted to be a model and I figured, I wasn't pretty enough or good enough. Here I am at an age which is considered to be old for a model and I have decided to pursue my dream. I want everyone to know that it's never too late to go after life... your life!

Mini Bio:
Well, you know that my name is Yoshi and I'm 32 years old. I was born on April 29th in Harlem Hospital. My father was in the military for 22 years so I've lived in Germany, almost every state and Alaska. I am currently back in New York City and I live on Burnside Avenue in the Bronx. Before I decided to try this modeling thing, I was a graphics designer for an advertising company based in New York. I have no real modeling experience but I love it with a passion! Aside from modeling and graphics, I love to dance, braid hair and sew.

My name is Sever Rowley, and I'm a twenty five year old childless owner of the hippest coffee shop in Hollywood. I have no experience in modeling, but I've always had interest in it. My boyfriend of three years, Dong-Yi Yun is a very successful Korean clothes model turned American super model, and he's convinced that grinding coffee beans is in no way my calling...

...and that I should step out from behind the counter, and become a model instead.

Now as good as I am at making a great cup o' Joe...I eventually agreed.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/HEART_shapedballoon/SevII-2.jpg

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/HEART_shapedballoon/SevI-2.jpg

I work out a lot, as you can probably tell, as I'm a firm believer that my body is my temple.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/HEART_shapedballoon/SevIII-2.jpg

I also like the spotlight, but as much as I like break dancing, it's still just something I enjoy doing on my freetime, and I honestly don't take it seriously enough to turn it into my ticket to fame.

So why of all things would I want to the Next Top Model? I dunno, I guess I just want to be successful at something that doesn't involve getting third degree burns from steamed milk. XD

Biography: I was born and raised in Bora Bora (yes, the Bora Bora), and lived at the resort my parents owned. Get jealous if you want, but don't expect a reaction - I've had a better life than everyone I know, too, and I'm used to people wishing they were me. I may have been born to privilege, but my parents weren't, and they never forgot it, nor did they let me get away with a free ride. Everything I have, I have earned. I speak English, French, and Chinese, and my p-e-r-f-e-c-t fiancee Matt and I will be starting our Ph.D. studies in paleobotany next year. Still want to be me? Of course you do. Just keep in mind that it's not as easy as I make it look.

http://i34.tinypic.com/skymbn.jpg

Why do I want to be the Next Top Model? I've done some modeling in the past, here and there, but I've never taken the time or effort to break onto the big scene. That time is now! I have to make the most of my good looks while I still have them, after all. Furthermore, think of all the nerds who are going to be happy that hot, smart, rich girls like me really do run around in their circles.

Hello,
I am new to Mod The Sims. I don't know all the lingo or really my way around the site. I have had The Sims 2 for four years now, and I would really like to enter some contests to show off my skills. Modeling seems like a good place to start. I have attached pictures before, but I do not know if it works the same way here. Does this picture show up? It is of the model I want to enter into this contest.

I'm the main Moderator of the contest section, so I can help you with any questions you may have about contests. I also moderate other areas of the site, so I can answer any other non-contest-related questions you may have as well. Just PM me so that we can keep the contest thread free from too much chatter :)

As far as your picture... I cannot see it. Try using this tutorial (http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=337371) on how to post pictures on our site. It's pretty easy!

Hey, Jan. Welcome! No, the pic isn't showing up. try going to tinypic.com and uploading it there - are you familiar with that site? You'll seem like of silly if you write like a letter and you listen to all of the rules of grammar here. :D
Mod The Sims can be shortened to MTS, and the sims 2 is TS2. Also, we can see who is writing the comment next to it, so you don't need to sign your name. We'll be glad to have another entry. Why don't you check out the first post and see what you need, and maybe read some other entries or comments to get a feel for it?

Okay, thanks for your help everybody. Here's my entry. Is it okay?

http://i33.tinypic.com/2n9vvvd.jpg
Hello. My name is Makenna Darwin. I would be just a typical 23-year-old, but I'm not. When I was 21, I was in a horrible car accident in which my fiance and little brother died. I survived, but just barely. I had to have one arm amputated and replaced with an artifical arm. My entire face had to be reconstructed, as almost half the skin had been shaved off. When I came out of the hospital eleven months ago, I looked like a completely different person. I'm not ugly - far from it. The doctors did a better job on my face than God did. But this isn't what I looked like at all. I had blue eyes, straight har, a button nose, thin lips... I still shock myself when I look in the mirror.

http://i36.tinypic.com/313hflt.gif
I had joined the military when I was eighteen; I was on leave when the car accident happened. I went back only one month after I was allowed out of the hospital. I tried to drown myself in the familiar practices. I wasn't ready to go back out on active duty yet, so I settled for the head of training at one of our boot camps. This is a picture of me showing those rookies how it's done.

http://i33.tinypic.com/2dh68v8.gif
My sister encouraged me to go back to modeling. (She's an intimates model.) I'm not an amateur at modeling - far from it. No, I was a regular child model between the ages of six and sixteen, and I still did a bit of modeling up until the car accident that I thought had destroyed my chances in this profession. I have the time for it; since I'm the head of training, I make my own hours and I'm only required to be at the base four days a week.

I want to be the next top model because I need to show the world that when life hands you lemons, make lemonade. I am a strong person, and I refuse to be told I'm destroyed!

Heather Evans
Age 22
Marital Status: Engaged

Hi, I'm Heather Evans. I am engaged to the man of my dreams his name is Josh. We are planning to get married on 2 months. We don't have any set plans for anything else though. I live in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada. I have lived here since I was 5. I was born in Amsterdam and my family visted British Columbia and loved it. So, that next year we moved here. I love living here although like everywhere else it has its draw backs. This town really doesn't have anyway for me to get into modeling. That is ok though. Besides modeling I love to sing and dance. You could say I have quite an outgoing personality. I did some modeling for a photography agency, to promote the opening of the company. I will be the Next Top Model because I am a hard worker and I have the ambition to get what I want.

My name is Robyn Harries and I'm 23.

Hmmmm... some stuff about me? Well, I have a older brother, called Steven, who is my best friend. Um... my Dad is English but my Mum is French... and I enjoy watching Friends in my jammies as much as the next girl! I'm currently single, and with no kids I just settle on being Steve's children's favourite aunty. Oh, and in Year 10 I punched a really annoying boy in my class.

http://i37.tinypic.com/mr32i9.jpg
I have a small amount of modelling experience; doing charity fashion shows or for my best friend's photography classes. I want to be the Next Top Model because, well... I want to prove to myslef I can do this... my life's been lacking direction lately and after seeing the application, I thought I'd send in an application!

To keep fit, I *love* going hiking. I know it's not a common thing to do, but there are so many beautiful places to spend the day around me that I just can't resist. Besides, a few stinging nettles and bee stings never killed anyone, did they?

I'm Mali Volence, a 22-year-old chick with no emcumbrances of the male, female, child or bump persuasions. I live in Section 8, which is a better than bleak section North of 8. Are you confused yet? Okay, over there in the Twin Cities, they call it the "Highway 8 Corridor". Over here, across the border, we call it like it is: The Death Trap and we live North of 8. got it? It's a sweet little section full of rednecks with guns where they tell me it's perfectly fine to date your cousins. Well, that's what my cousins tell me, anyway.

I was never one to hang back from the fray, blowing on just-painted manicured nails and I think this shot proves it pretty well. I like running assault and training courses; particularly when other people are involved. It gets the adrenaline rising, heartbeat racing and blood pumping.

Name: Jane Bright
Biography: Born in New York in the superb United States of America, I was the middle kid of three others; triplets in fact. Growing up, taking part in something like this wasn't on the agenda at all. I wanted to be a librarian - I know! I know! Of all things, right? As such I don't have any previous experience in modelling, though my older sister does. It's because of her that I'm here now actually. She spotted the advertisement and, after a lot of cajolling, I agreed to try out.
Why Me?: I'm incredibly enthusiastic about trying out new things, and I rarely complain - chuck me in ice cold snow or knee-deep in mud and I'll be pretty much at home,
Marital Status and Offspring: I'm 24-years-old, and I've been married to Nathaniel for three years now. We currently have one child, two-year-old Julia and have been trying for a second. We've like to give our daughter a little brother, but we'll be over the moon either way.

Hey there!
My name is Georgina Smyth
I'm 21 years of age
I originate from the USA, California to be more precise.

My reasons for wanting to be a model are that it's the only thing I've ever wanted to do. Even when I was a little girl I'd parade about in front of the mirror in my best clothes, I never got them dirty or anything I'd just strut around pouting into the mirror. The dream has never left me

Some people have told me my personality reminds them of a dog, that seems a little harsh I know but they explained it to me. It's to do with the way I stick with people I know and I only become friendly when I know someone better. I suppose you could call me shy, even though I don't look it.

Well girls, it seems a few of you are brave enough to send in some resumes. Well then, it has come time for your first assignment. This is a three-part assignment.

Part One
You will contact me privately with certain information. In return, I will give you a pose to master. Once you master the pose and look, you will send me a photograph of you performing the pose. I will have my technical producers mesh the photographs together to come up with a banner.

Part Two
Water is life. Without it, you are nothing. Show me how you understand this by posing in the water. Submerged up to your eyes, lying in a puddle on a rainy night, floating in a crystal pool, striking a powerful pose ankle-deep in a pond... However you choose to pose, I want two pictures: One at night and one during the day. The two poses can be completely different or exactly the same, as long as one is at night and one is during the day.

Part Three
Describe how you felt when the photoshoot was over. NOT during the photoshoot. I do not care what you thought as you stood under the waterfall. I want to hear how tired you were, or how you thought you did really well, or how the photographer is coming over to ask you to dinner. Whatever was running through your mind five minutes after the photoshoot ended, that's what I want.

Overview
Part One - PM me telling me if you have a modeling program/hack/cheat and if so, what it is. I'll then give you a pose. I want you to take a photo of your sim against a white background with that pose so I can make a banner like this one. You must dress your sim in certain clothing, which I will decide in a few minutes. Don't worry if you don't have a modeling program/hack/cheat, I'll give you a "maxis pose" to take a picture of.
Part Two + Three - These are pretty much self-explanatory. If you have questions, just ask.

jewaukeela
24th Oct 2009, 10:22 PM
Nay on photoshop for Round I except for enhancing photos color/contrast/etc. wise. The original photo must be clearly visible, no editing background or anything like that. Sorry.

I 99% won't be on until 10:30 AM tomorrow (about 16 hours for those who are in different timezones. It's 4:25 here in Philly) because I'm at my aunt's house and I want to just hang out as I don't get to be here nearly enough

"Tiger!"

I pm'd you with my pose hacks, and will wait til you get home for my reply.

Also, people have til the 28th to enter so that leaves us 4 days for tons more entries, which could make it rather hard for the judges to get their judging done promptly. Just a side note. Jewa might have to implement eliminations in the end if there are an over-abundance of entries. Don't forget the teen model competition next door.

Hey!
I am Keisha Fran, I am 22 years old and just finished my studies. I try to get into business and I am totally into finance. For the future I would like to get my share in the real estate market. I think that is a very exciting business.

Well why I wanted to participate in this model contest? First of all I hope it will be a really fun time. After graduation I moved in with my sister - she is a year older then I am - and my boyfriend at that time did not like her and made me pick one of them. Tja that is why he is my Ex now. He made me really feel bad afterwards and made me look bad infront of our friends. I felt so down all the time. But now I am getting better and I hope that this contest will help my confidence. I never did work as a model so I am a real rookie. I want to be the Next Top Model to proof myself that I can go out there and sell myself. For me it is a chance to try something totally different.

I am single at the moment but I did meet one of our new neighbours and he seemed to be a really interesting and polite young man. So now I will show you my pictures - hope you like them.

Fatigue and the need to take a long warm bath and sink into my warm cozy bed at home were the only thoughts on my mind after the shoot was over.

I along with everyone else was exhausted, physically and spiritually after the shoot finally wrapped up. From 5am to 12am into the next morning, it was a long day rivaling even my hours spent at the hospital; And to think all it was spent doing was taking photographs. I never realized how much work there is actually put into modeling.

Do you know what's worse than sitting, freezing soaking wet in the ocean for 24 hours? Sitting in a corseted ball gown, freezing and soaking wet for 24 hours. But, eventhough, the conditions weren't exactly glamourous, and the photographer was yelling at me in German, today was a pretty awesome day. I got dolled up and I looked like a million dollars, and the final shots were totally worth the sogginess. Now I'm going to excuse myself and sit in a HOT shower for the next couple of days.

I was born in the tiny town of Pontypool in Wales and was raised by my single father. At the age of 19 I moved to New York to pursue my modelling career. As yet I have been unsuccessful but I refuse to give up, which is why I have entered Next Top Model. I don't have any modeling experience but I'm a fast learner and a hard worker. Right now I work as a waitress in a local Italian resteraunt.

I want to be Next Top Model because I never had a female role model growing up and I want to be that role model to other girls.

Even though it was such a long day I couldn't relax after the shoot, I was too excited. I couldn't wait to call my Dad and tell him that his baby girl had her very first official photoshoot! I much prefered the night shoot. That lake might have looked glamorous but it was cold and uncomfortable and there were things living in it. Give me a nice clean shower any day!

As photoshoots go, it wasn't too bad. The daytime shoot was pretty regular, but it was annoying because they had me change into fifteen different bathing suits. I finally just told them that I was picking this one, and that was it. Turned out it was the best choice! At first they wanted me to just sit on the side and not take pictures, and when I asked why they said "it wouldn't look right". "Well, mister, I can swim perfectly fine with an artificial arm!" I told the head photographer. He backed off, and told me I could swim around in a formal dress like some of the others were doing, but I flat-out refused. He asked me what I was willing to do, and it turns out my idea was twice as good as his, he said so himself. The night shoot was his idea; although I'd posed topless before, I'd never posed completely naked, and I was a little hesitant at the idea. But he said that I needed to pose naked for the garden-of-eden-esque photograph, so I thought "What the hell" and went for it. A few of the photographers were checking me out, but I'm comfortable with my own body and I don't need men to look at me to feel special. So I glared at them in turn until they backed away. Life is good. :D

Why do you want to be the Next Top Model?
From the small town I am from, the girls were scared to make it into the big world, some succeeded. Most didn’t. Girls fell in voids, they were scared because of the life
They lived in,farming, or whatever it was they did. Most lived on farms, and the biggest
City they had ever been to was Louisville. I did this not only for the girls back home,
But for my 3rd grade teacher. She encouraged us not to use uneducated words
Such as “ain’t” and “gonna” She wanted to prove to the world we were not little hicks
Who lived on farms or trailers and sat around doing nothing, drinking liquor. We may be
A small town, but we’ve had some pretty good times. I will prove that.

Bio:
I am a 23 year old woman from Irvington,Kentucky,USA. My name means “torch”
And I live by that. I am a fierce young woman who is determined. I have done
Some modeling, but not a lot ‘cause--because-- I was not sure yet if I wanted to.
I have been single, declining dates because though I love children,a child is the last thing I
Need at the moment. I am a lot like my mother, though my mom is negative but very, very
Demanding and forceful. My father was loving, hardworking, and aspiring. My father is a great person, and I aspire to his level.and I know he’ll be there for me. Just like my father, I’ll suffer to be great. Because that’s what you have to do. I was born on March 21st,
The first full day of spring.

wow, notear! that was... wow. what a wonderful story! what a wonderful addition to our contestants! Can't wait to see your other shots and your round one!!!!!

ATTENTION: APPS WILL CLOSE AT 5 PM TOMORROW! YOU HAVE 20 HOURS TO GET YOUR APPS IN!

Edit: Would you guys be alright with minimal eliminations? That is, first round eliminations? That is, there will be 15 contestants in the second round, but also 15 contestants in the fourth round? What I mean is, if we get one more app between now and 5 PM tomorrow, then three people will be eliminated? Or do you think that's just like picking the worst three and kicking them off? I did say if I got more than 15 I would have to do eliminations... what do you guys think?

The shoots lasted for different amounts of time, but all of them had one thing in common - cold! I must admit to feeling a slight amount of relief when the photographer finally yelled that he had the final shots that he wanted. I was incredibly tired, but some excitement was still floating around so I was buzzing too. My feet hurt a lot, but then I'm unused to wearing high heels for a long period of time. And my back! I don't take any notice of my poise, but keeping my back continually erect made it ache. The best feeling that I had though, after waiting in the car to be taken back to civilisation? Jubilation and pride. Damn I did good!

I definitely enjoyed this photo shoot. After all, how could I not? Hello, raised in Bora Bora; water's pretty much all there is. I'm very comfortable both in the water and in front of a camera, so of course I feel good about my work. I don't think Matt's going to feel so good about the daytime photographer who was staring at my bum the whole time, though. I knew I should have thrown a bigger fit when the wardrobe department made me take off my engagement ring!

To tell the truth today was pretty painless. Between sporting expensive bikinis, playing on the beach, and the fact that they had champagne on tap...I can't really complain. Though I get the feeling I won't be this lucky again.

I noticed you're still short of EJs. I've never judged one before, I've only ever been in one contest where I was eliminated at round 2 and I don't play TS3 anymore. So taking all that into account I'm not very qualified for the job but I'm eager and willing

w_sims

Jewa, just to add my thoughts... I think eliminations are quite unfair. These contests are meant to be too serious, just a bit of fun... so to kick people off just seems slightly unfair. I think everyone who wants to join in should be allowed to continue through all the rounds.

Looking at previous contests, there are always people who have to drop out or don't meet deadlines so the numbers will most likely decrease by 3 (or even 5!) by the time we get to Round 4, anyway.

aba23
26th Oct 2009, 12:57 PM
I agree to wgroome, people will naturally drop out.

Just had a look at some pictures here and really got intimidated! You guys are all so good, are the pictures taking in games like that or? Cudos! I hope that some tricks will be revealed throughout the contest.

For example Frelala - how did you get your night shot like that? The water at her legs looks awesome. And the day watershot makes me want vacation so badly!! Is that with Bonvayage?

Really awesome pictures here not only from frelala. I know I took a break for two month or so but I did not know how good everybody became.

Now I have to think of something.... :alarm:

I agree, the pictures are really spectacular! How do you get such good photos? When I take pics of my game it looks like Mowzie's pics or waushir1's pics. What do you mean by graphics card?

Why do you want to be the Next Top Model?

I love modeling since I was young, I want to reach my dreams..

Bio:

I was born in Miami with American parents. I am an only child in my family. My parents died in a car accident when I was 4, I was the only one that was saved. Right now, I live with my Aunt Lucia. I watched fashion shows since I was 16 and from that moment on, I knew what my dream was. When I was 17, I joined a modeling academy and I graduated with success. I hope that I can reach my dream to be an international model.

singing_Noel
26th Oct 2009, 2:47 PM
She's really pretty PeacPlyr3. :D

aba23: I dunno, I'm actually a firm believer of trying NOT to use Photoshop. The learning curve is too steep, and even for someone like me who can use it, it's still quite too complicated for it's own good. Plus, it requires more physical tools to really perfect the usage of it, which makes the whole thing beyond the average budget.

I use Picnik, it's a great alternative and so user friendly, which is wonderful for beginners, but it also has more complicated features for the more experience photo editer. I also make sure that my game runs at the best performance level my videocard, and computer can handle.

If you aren't lucky enough to have a nice videocard, I try to be more creative about my pictures like Mowzie, ack your pictures are so cool! I like trying different angles and lighting situations, everytime I load the game, so I can have it for future reference when I'm sure I'll be needing it.

Mainly, I just treat it like as if I was actually a photographer, and my sim was actually a model...and with hacks and mods, they're ability to please the camera can truly be endless. So I try to concentrate on the photo itself rather than the editing initially, then the editing just comes along later to make it look better.

Though trust me, I know how it was to run off of a 128 MB graphics card at one point too, but I see it this way...gotta start somewhere. XD

Lol, that's the exact same thought I had - to the word. Been watching too much Futurama.

Anyhoo, my round is finished. (linky (http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?p=2906849#post2906849)) My Part 1 has a link to a large, transparent-background PNG version of the pic for easier editing into the group picture.

@ aba23, the biggest thing is the right lighting. I adjusted the brightness and contrast in Photoshop, but no more than I do with all my pictures. Took all of 30 seconds. (this (http://i588.photobucket.com/albums/ss330/spaceysims/MTS/ScreenShot047.jpg) is the original, unedited screenshot, to give you an idea of how much was in-game) And yep, the daytime picture is with Bon Voyage. I love the beach stuff. The EP is worth it for that alone.

Ditto to what singing_Noel said about the graphics card. I have a decent card now, but the one on the computer I first ran Sims on was a piece of junk, and it was really hard to get a good picture. Creativity with your poses and scenery ups the "wow" factor on a lower-end card. Find a groove and stick to it. :)

beki.cookie
26th Oct 2009, 8:43 PM
Everyone's really quick with this and all the entries are amazing!
Anyway, my graphics card is below average, the whole of my computer could probably just about manage running Sims 3 but my graphics card really, really couldn't. And my sims is slow, the computer we have is fairly old and has been known to crash. But I -do- use a bit of image editing, paint shop pro though, a cheaper alternative to photoshop.
I usually sharpen my pictures and play about with the contrast etc, however in my opinion it's much more about whether the sim you have can pull of the right facial expressions and if you can set the scene up around them well. It's all in the fiddling in game and in bodyshop to create the perfect fierce face.

Also, having a bit of a creative block on this round and I really wish I'd done a beach lot now but I put her in a normal neighborhood D:

Aaand Freelala, correct me if I'm wrong but you're a simfinity resident? :D
It's really slowed down there recently.

Freelala, what is going on with the legs part of your third photo? Is that photoshopped or is it an outfit or special effect or something?

Freelala
26th Oct 2009, 9:29 PM
@ beki - yep! :) I couldn't log on there for a long time, like eight or nine months, until just a few days ago.

@ wndy, it's mostly the outfit. It's all wiggly and weird like that the whole way through. I smudged a bit around the waterline to smooth out the edge the water was making on the dress and to add to the effect.

SolidGoldFunk84

First, let me say sorry about the background. I don't have white floors and I swear the description for the wallpaper said it was "true white" It should still be pretty easy to cut out the background for the banner though.

Well, here is my round 1...

PART I: MASTER POSE
I had to master my hand on my hip, one leg straight with the other leg bent and the toes pointing down. I wouldn't say I've mastered it but I think I look great here!

PART III
How did I feel after the photoshoot? Well, there was a lot running through my mind when it was all over. I really wanted to know how my photos turned out. I've learned that it doesn't matter how good you feel while performing but how good it looks when you're done. I was really relieved when it was all over though. I felt like there was a huge weight lifted off of my shoulder and that I could finally get some rest after this 19 hour day! Whew... I'm exhausted!

PeacPlyr3: great entries, but *please* never, ever, do that again. I said specifically that you need to PM me to get your pose and your outfit. Please read the rules all the way through next time. I will PM you in a moment with the info.

Solid: No, you don't have to wear the same outfit. Like singing_noel said, if I don't mention it it's free reign. Awesome first round! The background is annoying, but it's not too bad.

Thoughts from the model:
I've had a really, really fun day.
The first shot was easy, I got to glam up in a little black dress and pose for the camera.

The second shot was harder though, my confidence was really tested.
They took me down to this lovely beach where the sun was shining, the water was still freezing though. I got really shy for the first shoot, I had to get topless for the camera, I can tell you it's weird stripping off when you're surrounded by photographers and makeup artists. Anyway, I had loads of extensions in my hair and temporary dye.

The night time shot was the worst but also the best, I wore this amazing ball gown and had all my hair curled, the makeup was odd but still amazing. However the water was freezing cold, I was trying not to shiver as I posed! Plus the woods was really creepy, and I swear that pool had toads in euuugh!

But all in all it was an exciting day, I had so much fun on all the shoots!

PART 3

Hmmmm . . . .what was going through my mind after the shoot? I was thinking that now that I spent a day in water, I pretty much know what I'll look like when I get old and wrinkled. Obviously the photog and shoot supervisor have more time and money than they know what to do with if they're having me wreck designer gowns. Nothing like keeping yourself still when a fish is nibbling on your toes. If nothing else, today was certainly better than laying in a pit of vipers.

*********

My editing was just centering my stuff and adding the text for Part 3.
Mali showed me who was boss in the end. After being made to change her clothes left and right, pose every which way I thougt to try out, and get stuck in water on OMSP's, she decided she wanted to do what she wanted to do while I was staring at my screen trying to dream up a way to improve my ideas for this round. Well . . . . . . she decides she'd just love to do some fishing while the sword from the Warrior Sword thingy was still in her hand : "getting ready to get even" (http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sims%202%20Next%20Top%20Model%20Contest/MV-R1-3-GAMECRASHING.jpg) . When she tossed her line, she tossed my game. Down it came in one big crash. So, let this be a lesson to us all in Sim care and welfare.

Deatharella, great entry and what a funny bonus shot!

Ok, I've changed the photo for part I. It now has a transparent background.

That's okay, I already put your photo in. As long as it's on a white background, you don't need to make it transparent. I'm using Polyvore, so it cuts out the white background for me.

I hope so too aba, I'd hate for Keisha to miss this round, she's my favorite. : D

I also thought I'd say how well everyone did this round, and how nice it was to see so many unique, creative ideas, and how great it is of Jewa to work so hard to keep it all together.

I'm glad we aren't going to have eliminations, 'cause I honestly wouldn't want anyone to leave. : }

So good luck to everyone, and here's to round two!

Wow this was my first real photoshot where I had to work according to directions. I feel I get a big cold, I am stll shivering from the night shot. Swimming around in the middle of the night by winter temperatures. I felt that there was a lot of time pressure and photos could have been done much better. I am a bit dissapointed with the result, I could have done better. Well next time I hope for a warmer atmosphere. Now I am just tired and would like to go to bed with a hot chocolate or so.

Comments: I really love the way she looks with all the curls. Nice choice...who was your hair dresser? (I want that hair!). I split the points up between the two photos - alotting 5 points for each - pose and beauty. I scored you at 3.5 for both photos for beauty. For power of pose, the second photo scored highest with 4 points to it and 3 points to the 1st photo. The pose of the 2nd photo was far more powerful than the first. For creativity and originality, I deducted 3 points as the images lacked in atmosphere.

Comments: I really like the curly look, it really suits her. The last picture of her looks so strong and powerful, in the second picture, she looks a bit dazed. Try to give her a more determined look next time, or if you were trying to go for a happy look, maybe give her a 'cheeky' look or a seductive look.

behind the "Gucci Bags" though I think the pose could have been something stronger to help accentuate the strength and durability of the bags. She looks so dainty and fragile. I wasn't too keen on the hair style in the first photo but I liked the way she had her hair styled in the 2nd photo.

Comments: Again, just I said with the application round, the model needs more lighting. While you used a lighter background this time, for some reason the edges of her face just totally dissappear. The pose in the first photo is very strong. I wasn't too fond of the second photo, while it was light enough it just felt too blurry and the reflection on her face along the bridge of her nose just looked strange.

Comments: I felt as though the part 2 photos were just too plain. They look thrown together. They both just feel a bit rushed. Just to point out - in both photos, her leg is pointing to the bottom edge of the image - this has a tendancy to lead the eye right out of the photo. A major goal of a photographer is to keep the eye swimming within the photo.

Comments: I had a tough time with these photos - the quality is definitly there but the poses and composition were not very strong. I loved the use of the umbrella but it would have been stronger if it were raining. The second photo is more of a head shot, in my opinion, and doesn't show an understanding of how water is life. At least in the first photo you think of rain because of the umbrella.

The goal of the model is to make the most of every photo shoot, even if she is made to be uncomfortable - which happens a lot in the modeling industry - high heels, awkward poses, standing still for long periods of time, and dealing with overbearing photographers...but in the end, its all part of the job.

Comments: The scenery is great in both photos, but the one thing that bothered me was that the model was just too far away. It looks more like a shot for a memory book and less like a model shot. Zoom in - the model should fill most of the image. I scored you lower on the poses mainly because they didn't feel very model-like. On the first photo - the model should never have her back to the camera unless she is looking over her shoulder - the model sells her photos with her face and eyes, not just her body. I also scored you lower on beauty because you can't make out details due to the distance from the camera. If we were scoring beauty of the location and not the model, then I would have scored you much higher.

Since there were so many photos I wasn't sure which ones to refer to for the scoring - so I just guessed that the first two were the part 2 shots and the other two were just for text purposes. Of the first two photos, the strongest was the 2nd one. Her facial expression and pose were very striking. I wasn't particularly fond of the first photo, she had a similar expression on her face as the 2nd one but it wasn't close enough to really have the same effect. The 2nd photo has the better composition but water isn't really an active part of the shot.

Comments: The first shot was the most creative and best use of poses. The scores were lowest mainly because of the 2nd shot. In the 2nd shot, she isn't really posing, she is swimming and her eyes aren't even looking at the camera - they are focused down...which seems to make her appear sad. This is the main reason for the low score on the power of pose. YOu mentioned time pressure - which I think is the biggest reason why your photos aren't as good as they could be. I look forward to seeing better photos for round 2.

Comments: I gave you an 8 for pose and beauty mainly for the first photo - her pose was excellent and she looks beautiful. The second photo would have looked better if we could see her eyes. Maybe if you had rotated to the left a bit. Its hard to tell that the 2nd shot is a night shot - you can't see stars or a moon or even darkness. Composition and creativity was a bit lacking for both photos. While the lake looks pristine, and you can see the ground below, where are the fish?

Comments: Both photos had a fairly strong pose and Mikayla looked very beautiful in both shots but she also looked a bit too serious. The first photo could have used some marine life and more plants in and around the water...it looks a little too plain. I liked the fact that she was wearing high heels in the 2nd photo but it was a bit too plain as well, in my opinion. A model must be able to portray emotions, no? So your next assignment will be to master interpreting emotions. Below you will find the requirements of this assignment and how it will be evaluated. Below that, you will find a list of emotions. These will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis. Have fun!

Requirements
1 picture of your model representing their first chosen emotion
1 picture of your model representing their second chosen emotion
1 picture of a memory of when your model felt one of the emotions (either one)
2+ sentences about the shoot
5+ sentences about times when your model felt each of their emotions

Judging
These are the criteria upon which you will be judged.
how well is the emotion shown? (pic 1)
how well is the emotion shown? (pic 2)
creativity
how well does the memory enhance the model's personality?
how well did the model incorporate the comments from the last round?

These will be broken down into:
Emotion (Pic 1) /12
Emotion (Pic 2) /12
Creativity /10
Memory /10
Comments /6

Thanks for getting in our app scores so quickly.

I knew I didn't do very well, 'cause to tell the truth I half-assed it XD, but is this whole Sever has too small of eyes thing gonna haunt her through this entire contest? 'Cause if so I honestly dunno how I could possibly avoid that if I can't change her physically.

Regardless, her eyes aren't small, it's just her eyes take up most of her whites, and she wears scleras that take up even more, and her dark, dark skin doesn't exactly help either.

I dunno, I'd hate to quit, but I can't keep doing face shots for the rest of this contest...obviously. : (

Do you mean for us both to model the same outfit/dress or something like two items from the same designer?
And do we each take a photo of our model alone using the same theme, or do you want us to combine our models using photoshop or something into one pic we share for the round?

jewaukeela
28th Oct 2009, 3:31 AM

Thanks Jewa, I really appreciate it. I was so worried I'd have to quit, but I'm glad I don't have to. I just really honestly can't do anything about her eyes, ya know? I started focusing on her face, but that's really all I can do.

I dunno, guess I'll just have to work harder. : D

I read the rules and regulations for round two, and the part that confuses me is how we're gonna get the two together.

So if it's photoshopped, is one of us going to have to do it?

Then if we decide to just download the other's sim instead, isn't one person pretty well going to do all the physical work?

I dunno, maybe I've got it all backwards. XD

Regardless, how exactly are we gonna get scored on this? Together, or seperately?

jewaukeela
28th Oct 2009, 4:28 AM
seperately, because the only pic that should have your partner/s in it should be the group pic. just make sure your text pretty much matches up (like if you decide to hate eachother, make sure that both of you are going along with it)

I don't understand how all of the scores are so crappy. I thought EVERYONE did a wonderful job.

I'm not understanding what you are seeing of Yoshi either because that is not what I intended to portray of her. She doesn't want people to love her because she loves modeling. She wants people to love her for what she stands for which is being strong, successful and ambitious in every aspect of her life. At such a late age she is still going after what she wants in life. I actually like what Yoshi stands for. Anywho, I'm not a judge so, on with round 2.

Deatharella, I will PM you with some ideas as soon as I get some. I'm drawing a complete blank right now. If you have some feel free to throw them at me. I already have an idea for the reaction though... lol. I will PM you that shortly.

I finally remembered I left my puter on and got back to you.

Jewa, for the bonus pic of the final ad, did you want us to each have a separate one or do we both enter the same final result?
Also, do we both have a different pic for the one of our two models together? Or do we both enter the same one in our separate entries?
So, do I have this right -- all marketing shots are my Sim alone? Only one pic has both of them in it? The final ad is my Sim alone? Because it seems like that one should have them both in it.
Just want to get the final entry shots done right, here.

Thanks to the judges, just woke up and saw the scores. Not too bad as I may say. I personally see room for improvement for Keisha. What does more WOW mean?

I think the second round is a bit confusing but as I understood only one shot is a group shot. That is an interesting one, I like this twist. So what I do not understand is do we have to send you a link to the object we promote AND links to every dress or just to the groupshot dress?

I've just PMed Jewaukeela... I've decided to drop out on account of my low score in the Application round and the fact I think the Round 2 is unusual and sounds like more work than fun.

Okay, I kind of agree with wgroome. It's a good idea, but more work than it's worth. Would you guys be okay if I changed it to "portray a certain emotion" like you guys would get to pick from a list kind of like this one, but longer:

Passion
Anger
Surprise
Hope
etc.

And then had 2 pics of different representations of that feeling? I think that would be more fun and much better. What does everyone think?

Also, by saying we can't photoshop the body for this I'm guessing that means no franking? Which cuts down a lot of oppertunities. Some of these emotions will be really difficult if we're only using the poseboxes and maxis poses. I'm sure many people disagree but that's just my view.

Click for Calm.

It wasn't at all difficult to get myself into a "calm" head for this shoot. Not only was I just able to remember one of the things in my life that keeps me calm - I was fortunate enough to have her with me.

Growing up, whenever I was stressed I'd sit in the nursery with one of my younger siblings and, after having my daughter I would do the same thing with her. Sitting down in the pearly white room, scenting the divine flowers next to me and watching the moon outside, I couldn't help but feel calm and serene. My daughter was definitely calm too... She feel completely asleep in my arms!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v36/Sam_Monoceros/Sim%20Competition/PartTwo.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v36/Sam_Monoceros/Sim%20Competition/LustEdit.jpg)
Click for Lust

For the Lust shoot, the focus was entirely on us: the models. The room was pretty plain - though the dark red hues on the wall started to set the mood. The photographer said that the room didn't need to be all decked out in satin, velvet or silk - because when lust hits, it hits you good and you're not necessary going to be in a luxurious environment. I could totally relate to that. Getting close to my male counterpart mean just that - getting close. The skin-to-skin contact was completely real, and it was hot. I think the finishing photograph embodies what lust is, and should be. It's going to be fierce, it's going to be passionate, and carnal. And blood is probably going to be drawn, as I think the nail marks across his back show pretty damn plainly.

Memories
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v36/Sam_Monoceros/Sim%20Competition/LustMemory.jpg

I was pretty young when I first met my husband and, to be honest, I didn't think he even noticed me at the very beginning! For me though, it truly was lust at first sight. The first time I saw him I was with my sister, and she was taking her car into the garage where he worked. He was Hot Damn HOT! You better believe that every time her piece of crap car needed a fix-up that I went with her after that! It must have been... oh... six months later that I decided to get him to actually take notice of my existence. I told my sister Ellie that I would pick up her car that evening. This time though, I wasn't dressed in jeans and a t-shirt. I managed to acquire a rather delicious leather outfit that hugged me in all of the right places.

I slipped through the door, with the definite intentions of making his pulse race. But, when I snuck up behind him and positioned myself casually against this dirty wood beam, I couldn't help my eyes roaming. He had been working for about nine hours by that time so he was dirty, oil on his arms and hands. There was sweat on his shirt and his pants were starting to ride down, as he hunched down over the engine of Ellie's car. I could see pretty obviously that he wasn't wearing boxers or briefs.

He turned around eventually, of course. He couldn't keep his hands tinkering with that engine for much longer.

Especially after he saw me.

beki.cookie, if you use Decorgal's black box model hack, it has options that will prompt every emotion the game offers...which is quite a bit.

I use it, and it works wonders.

Plus, you can mix two different expressions together to make them more suttle, or extreme.

So no, you really don't need photoshop to convey them.

Nice start TRIriana. I like the lighting.

:alarm: TIME-OUT PLEASE! :alarm:

First of all, jewaukeela, this is your contest. You are responsible for gathering scores and totaling them up. You should never allow someone, let alone a contestant, total up scores for you. If you would have totaled them yourself (in private), you would have seen the inconsistencies and straightened them out with your judges before you posted any results whatsoever. Crisis avoided.

singing_Noel, I appreciate your willingness to help out. However, this particular situation isn't something you should have been allowed to do in the first place as jewaukeela is the host and holds this responsibility. As a contestant, you must keep an objective position and not take on any responsibilities that the host decides she just doesn't feel like doing.

CONTESTANTS, JUDGES & JEWAUKEELA: If you'd like to give this contest another go, let's freeze everything for a couple days and send the round back to our judges for another look and another add-up. This time, I'll require jewaukeela to send me all of the scores and totals, which I will review before they are posted.

jewaukeela
29th Oct 2009, 10:37 PM
Yes, I will do that boolpropped.
I have fixed all the scores, and I am upset that the whole problem with the suggestion being a suggestion even happened.
That should not have happened, and I agree 100% with singing_noel. You are right, it was a lapse of judgement on my part not to read the comments before I posted them, and it will not happen again. So, so, so sorry.
There will be a requirement to explain all point deductions greater than -1 in the future, does that seem fair? And I will explain to my judges that their comments need to be CONTRUCTIVE criticism. Things to expand upon.

:alarm:NOTE THAT THE CONTEST IS CURRENTLY FROZEN!:alarm:

OK guys, jewa has agreed to work with me regarding this round's scores. I will be looking over all of the scores, looking for inconsistencies/typos/etc. I will also be totaling up scores and formatting the results so that they are a little easier to read. If any scores seem wrong or unfair, I will be contacting the judges for clarification.

I'll be granting an extension for this contest due to the kerfluffle, so just hang tight for a bit while I go to work on these scores :) Thanks so much to everyone for your cooperation!

I'm pretty sure the scores will be in today, or later today...though just incase the best thing you could do is PM Jewa, and if worst comes to worst you could send her what you plan to post and she can post it for you while you're gone.

http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/xx343/Athena-SimGlim/SubmissionClick.png (http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/xx343/Athena-SimGlim/Round2_Emotion2-2.png)

The photoshoot was a real challenge for me. I especially had a hard time because I've never thought of submission or aggression as emotions. Not only that but, I was raised to be tough so it took some digging to get these two to come to me as emotions. The photographer kept telling me that I wasn't feeling it. I was like, of course I'm feeling it, I'm thinking about it so I'm feeling it. What finally got me in touch with my emotions was thinking about my old job as a graphics designer. When I finally got into my emotional state a lot went running through my mind... I thought of my first day at Kempo&Brown Ad Agency.

http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/xx343/Athena-SimGlim/Round2_Memory.png

I guess, you could say that when I first started working as a graphics Designer for Kempo&Brown Ad Agency, that I felt a sense of submission. I was given projects of a lesser value because I am a woman. It was a male dominated company and I would sometimes think to myself that I could never be good enough. I guess this would be the same reason I felt aggression. I developed that go getter attitude. I had to be aggressive because I couldn't let these guys get me down. I knew they weren't better than me and all I had to do was prove it! I guess I could say that I owe my success to submission and aggression. :)

"hurt" is like the emotional pain - "pain" is the physical pain.
Solid, granted.
I'll switch around the scores in a few minutes, thanks for the links.

Er... I think BP might have deleted them, or anyway I can't find them, so I'll post them here:
**************
Here's the new scores - sorry that it's out of /159, I'll even it out next round. :(

Comments: The photos were very creative. I especially liked the idea
behind the "Gucci Bags" though I think the pose could have been something stronger to help accentuate the strength and durability of the bags.

Comments: A very creative idea! I love the pose in the daylight image. The only thing I would have liked to have seen is more zoom! The scenery is nice but its the model I want to see more of. Also, her arm in the moonlight photo looks quite painfully twisted - this was where you lost 2 points - its unnatural.

Comments: I split the beauty score evenly between both part 2 photos. While I liked your first photo and gave it a full 5 points, the second one was too dark. It needed something more, in my opinion, some lighting in the models face perhaps. The level of darkness overall brought down the score for that photo in all areas.

Comments: You were only supposed to have two photos for part 2 - this was why you had the reduction in points for the rules.
