I honestly don't know how to do it and I'm working on a tentacle hair mesh thing...what do I do to do that :wtf:

All that probably means is that it uses the scalp texture from the skintone instead of its own textures. By default, most hair meshes are mostly "skintone-compliant" as-is - at the part around the edges.

And if that's the case, if you make your alpha layer all black, your tentacles should be the colour of the Sim's skin... I think. (I've never tried it, but that seems to be the logical conclusion.)
If you want the tentacles to actually have a texture, you'll probably have to make a semi-transparent texture (just lines and shadows, basically) that can layer over the skintone. Otherwise, they're just going to look like smooth skin.
