View Full Version : Game crashes when entering area of the catalog

Recently I've noticed a problem with my 'Buy Mode' catalog. Everytime I attempt to go into 'Decorations->Misc.', the game crashes.

Naturally, one would think this would be a CC problem. So I moved my 'Downloads' folder onto my desktop, and tried re-loading the game. No dice. It still crashed when I tried opening that section of the catalog.
So then I went through the entire Game Problem FAQ, following the step-by-step instructions for weeding out the problem. Eventually I got to the section about moving each folder out, one by one, and then testing the game.
And I found that if I left out the 'Cameras', 'Collections', 'Config', 'HTTPCache', 'Logs', and 'LotCatalog' folders all out at once, the game worked. But if I left only one of them out, it still crashed (I tried this method with all of the folders, leaving one out, then replacing it with another).

So my question is this: If I delete these folders, and allow the game to generate new ones, will my gameplay be screwed up? My 'Downloads' and 'SavedSims' folders won't be touched, so I don't think it'll affect things too much, but game programming is not my area of expertise, and I would very much appreciate any advice/help you could lend.

Thank you!

(I have Uni, Seasons, and NL, an unpatched game, and three hacks/mods...InTEEN, Smonaff's No Jealousy Unless Married/Engaged/Going Steady, and Smonaff's Period Hack, none of which have ever caused me any trouble.)

That is very odd.

You can delete HTTPCache and Logs perfectly safely - those aren't needed. Deleting Cameras will remove any camera mods you're using; deleting Collections will nuke any CC collections you have; and deleting LotCatalog will nuke all your custom lots. It's up to you, really.

Alright...luckily I don't have any camera mods, and only a few collection files.
Thank you very much!
