I love that sims can now paint simish famous masterpieces of Girl with a Pearl Earring, Mona Lisa, Botticelli's Venus, ect. Are these new or were they always in the game? Being an art forger would be a good criminal vocation.

I dont think this topic would be in fact throughly researched well because of there are literally hundreds of different paintings that come at random. But luckily i have seen 2 of those paintings before actually. The mona lisa was what one of my professional artists painted before WA and the Botticelli's Venus another one of my sims painted sometime after WA came out.

Yes, all of those were in the Base Game - my favorite game painting is the Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.

I think you are speaking of Botticelli's "Birth of Venus" :) One of my favorites too!

If you're really curious, Plum has extracted all the paintings in the game and put them up for download, linked in this thread at MATY: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,15723.0.html

(Keep reading onto the second page, the first link given won't work.)

Is there any easy (non-major mod) way to use these paintings in the game, without having your Sim paint them?

As Srikandi said above you can go to that thread to find the downloads, but go to the second page because the first link didn't work.

Weird, I tried that link and all I got was just jpegs of all the paintings, not the paintings themselves.

Sorry if I wasn't clear -- yes, that's what's in the file. Not painting OBJECTS, or mods, but the images used to generate the built-in paintings.

If you wanted to put the paintings in your game without having a sim paint them, you could easily do that as a mod. There's a tut for that.
