Even though the game is outdated i still enjoy playing it,i personally prefer this over ambitions...Anyway i was wondering whats your favourite vacation destination?I don't have a favourite but i like Shang Simla because of the colours, the fishes,fruits/vegetables,the lighting and the peacefulness.I like egypt because its filled with tombs and because my vacation home there is filled with trees so no hot sun for my sims :giggler: .And i like france because of the nectary,fruits/vegetables and the atmosphere.

Shang Sim La and Al Simhara are great places for vacation although my preferences would be in Champs Le Sims in France, I do not know why. No matter where I go, after my vacation my Sims will packed their luggage and straight away booked a ticket to Champs Le Sims. Was it the aura? Was it the atmosphere? Was it the people or the environment? Was it the nectar and those fabulous grapes? Was it the adventures?
No, I guess I'm going there just to...fish. hahaahahaha! The only place which I called "heaven" for fishing. Bring along your Sultan's Tabernacle and the portable outdoor fire pit and don't forget Shower-in-A-Can. I might not going back to my vacation home for days until I reach my goal. The only "flat" world compared to Shang Sim La and Al Simhara.

I think EA did a great job with all three locations. The scenery and the whole oriental ambiance in Shang SimLa is beautiful. My photographer sim had a ball just taking scenic shots there. Al Simhara is also very scenic in places although not as interesting as Shang SimLa IMO. For some reason though I love Champs Le Sims. If there was a way to export the world and use it as a home location I would have all my sims live there permanently. I can't even put my finger on why I love it so much. Maybe it reminds me of where I live or of many happy holidays spent in France IRL. The adventures there are the least challenging, thats for sure, but I find my sims going back time after time.

I don't know, I love them all, really, but my favorite would have to be Champs Le Sims. This is a multitude of things, including the fact that it's based off of France, the language of which I have been trying (and failing) to learn for the past eight years, the fact that it has a homey, charming feel to it that I just don't get with the others, and the fact that it's the first one that I had my Sim go to, to fulfill an opportunity. I don't know why, honestly, but no matter what, I always have my Sims go to Champ Le Sims first before going elsewhere.

I think all vacation worlds are well-crafted. Their shortcomings are shortcomings of the whole WA concept. There is basically nothing to do except raiding tombs.

@Buzzler there are pleanty of things to do after you raid the tombs and get to vacation level 3...
In shang simla you can learn sim fu and meditate to hard to reach places such as the little island in france.
In al simhara, well this is all about tombs :| .
And champs les sims, you can learn nectar making, its actually really fun trying out recipies and searching for the perfect fruits :anime:

I like Egypt best, it's so purdy.

In terms of absolute utility, China should be both your first and favorite. Learning Kung-Fu adds practical utility to your sim's life, as they can win all their fights against those without it. Also, you need the axe to get the REALLY useful thing, the Eye of Whatzit, which gives you recall-teleport.

In shang simla you can learn sim fu and meditate to hard to reach places such as the little island in france. They can learn that in their home world just as well, and I find it boring to make all sims learn the same skill again.
And champs les sims, you can learn nectar making, its actually really fun trying out recipies and searching for the perfect fruits :anime:Nectar making is another thing I don't want all sims to do. Generates to much funds. BTW: It's probably not much of a surprise that I don't agree on the "fun trying out recipies" part. ;)
These things are hardly a reason to send sims to a vacation world.

@J. M. Pescado I have Pangu's axe,but whats 'The Eye of Whatzit'?
@Buzzler you need to go to Shang Simla to learn Sim Fu and everyone does have different tastes...I still love this more than Ambitions :anime:

Is this the Eye of Horus? It does have teleport powers. I've gotten that but I've never achieved Pangu's Axe (yet!). Is there another Eye in the game?

The Eye of Horus :wtf: .I've never even heard of that  .I thought i explored all the things in the game...Where do you find it :) ?(Not exact location, the country)

In Egypt, one of the tomb explorations. It may be one you only have access to via an adventure, where you have to receive a key from someone.

I believe it's in Abu Simbel but I'm not entirely positive. It's been a while. You can also get the eyes through buydebug though.
Anyway, to answer the OP's question, I think Shang Simla is the purtiest (although the mountainous terrain is a bitch to explore. My Sims have to do a lot of running) but Al Simhara is my favourite because it has the largest tombs.

@Suncat thanks,i should've guess cause its so obvious The Eye Of Horus ,i feel stupid
@Princess Leia i dunno why but i actually like the mountains, they are very preety and they make the game longer :)

China is my favourite, and it is why I bought WA in a first place. I loved the idea of Sims learning Kung-Fu or buying a vacation house in the Forbidden City. Egypt comes second. The night view of the Sphinx and the Pyramids looks really beautiful.
In any case, to enter Abu Simbel you need to have accepted one of the adventures and to place two offerings, on the right and left of the entrance, in order to open the gate and gain access to the temple. I believe without high meditation skills (see: teleportation) is almost impossible to finish exploring this place.
It is silly they placed Horus as the dominant god of Abu Simbel though. His temple is in Edfu actually.

Egypt, China, France, in that order.

I think China is the prettiest but I love France. It's so homey and there's something about the lighting that feels romantic and soft. That's where I wish all my sims could live but I get as many vacation homes there as possible. i love the "farmish" look too since I live in farming country and love it here.

I'm in love with Egypt! I love the scenery, the vacation homes, the tombs, and even the music for it! I just love deserts, what can I say :) France kinda bores me, though I really like the burial mound tomb, and China is okay. I'm not really into the martial arts stuff.

My computer cannot handle China that well so I havent' had the full chance to totally explore the place minus getting pangue's axe and getting a couple of sims to learn simfu(I mostly have a personal Dojo in my custom world for them to go to)
France was at first a disappointment for me. I thought that they would have made it bigger with the Eiffel tower in it and the city scape I love so much. But I guess they based it on the country sides of France which is okay since my sims like to get away from the city. It's a quiete place to unwind in one of the many camps.
But I have to say Egypt is probably one of the places I visited most often. I love the sims there, the desert atmosphere is breathtaking escpecially at night. The sounds if you can hear them are so close to the actual thing. And the music! For all regions acutally I love the music.
The only place I have gotten the cahne to buy a vacation home in is Egypt...I even today I'm still finding things I haven't discovered yet. i think EA spent most of their time on that world and China. I think it was also to allow people to get the feel for quests, so they could anticipate TSM.
But still I'm in the process of renovating France and enjoying Egypt so alls good and no complete complaints on the EP.

Egypt, definitely Egypt. The scenery, the desert, romantic nights... it's so exotic. I do like China, too, but after a few sim days it starts to become laggy and buggy, unlike Egypt or France. Also, France is too dull for me. I'll stick with Egypt. :)

I always thought France would be the dull one, varpunen- but I have to say I really love it. The Landgraab Chateau and Museum are fiendish! And then there's the hidden underground garden and the island which requires Pangu's Axe to access...

Hmm, I've visited the island and I do have the axe but didn't realize that there is a doorway somewhere. I have to take a closer look now. At first I was starting to get excited by France but I guess the "last nail to the coffin" so to speak was the fact that I wasn't able to get any new adventures, so even that fun was gone. I do like the scenery there, though. Maybe I should do some more redesigning in there, make it more interesting. :)

Well, that's tough because Al Simhara is a great place to go exploring tombs, but so is Shang Simla and Shang Simla also has more interesting skills to learn and a cutesy Home Base! ^^

China is not buggy at all, not in my game. France, on the other hand, is the worst of all destinations, full of glitches, glitches and even more glitches. I forbid Sims travelling there anymore. Twice was enough to lose Pagus axe, have Sim disappeared etc., etc.

China used to be by far my favourite vacation world but as others have noted it has become a bit problematic for me since LN. Not only is the adventure board there broken just like in France but there are now some routing problems that cause the game to freeze occasionally. Routing has always been a bit difficult at the area behind the Temple of Heaven and around the Terracotta Army due to steep hills with unrotable terrain that Sims are unable to circumvent. But now the Hot Springs lot seems to be especially problematic causing NPCs to be stuck in the pool area, which is probably the reason for the occasional freezes.
France has also always been difficult for different reasons: First, apart from the explorers at the base camp unlike the other two worlds it also spawns tourists on a daily basis. When they enter the world the game might hiccup but especially when they leave at 4 p.m. more often than not my games will freeze. And this is consistent throughout 5 different games.
But recently there came another problem and that is lag. My theory is that this lag is caused by the new grouping feature of LN. Whenever my Sims visit the nectary there are always locals hanging around. This, of course, is normal. What is not normal, however, is that it's usually only one member of a local household. I just played a save where my Sims are friends with almost all French locals and when I go into Map View their houses are marked as being empty, i.e., all members are apparently out and about town. But when I search for the missing members I find them on the sidewalk by the road in front of their home lot, doing nothing. When I check their status with Master Controller it says that they are about town in a GroupingSituation.
My theory now is that they are supposed to be at the nectary together with the one member there but fail to reach their destination because their means of transport, i.e. Kenspas, do not allow for this kind of group formation and that this causes the sudden lag in France. The next time I go to France I will try to give all of them a car and see whether this has any effect.
BTW: For those who like France, there is an expanded Champs les Sims Deluxe on the Exchange as a base world with rabbitholes and such.

My favorite is Egypt! I love the tombs and the music on map view mode. China is great too, I love those Koi because I am a Koi lover. France is good about the nectary and those variety of grapes only, not so much.

Egypt. Always love desert areas in any game. Most likely because I would never survive in such a climate with my pasty skin and intolerance to heat lol

China's my favorite by far. As for things to do, pop in some LN clubs or your choice of rabbitholes, or just use your vacation home as a skilling retreat.
Since this thread has been brought back through the mists of time, I'll also note that now there's Twallan's Traveller mod, which not only fixes numerous travel-related bugs, but lets you bring the whole family (including pets) and make the vacation world function more like a regular one (or vice versa -- vacation in ANY world, with more or less of vacation world functionality).

I like all three equally well. I do find that further into a save game that China starts to get massive lag. I mean there are times the clock will hang every two Sim minutes.
