There are a few dresseswhich I downloaded which have a simple mesh. How can I replace the ingame dreeses with with similar number of meshes with these. Please let me know if i'm right.1- I would make a recolor 2- extract mesh part on both meshes 3- overwrite. Does this owerwrite the wholething including the textures? since i'm planning to do a few changes to the downloaded dress in milkshake&gimp.

Sounds like you want to make a default replacement. This was discussed recently here (http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=420378).

Ya, thanks i already read thrue that thread before & I'am just as cofused as before, since there is two different explanations so, which one is the right one. Hp mentioned something about keeping only the gmdc& deleting all other recources. Is this for a nude body mesh since the mesh I'm talking about it's a sims body enclosed in a one piece dress so, If I want those textures to apear on the maxis how shall I do then. If I just replace the GMDC that just changes the shape how about all the texture how do I replöce them in the same time?

Mesh and texture replacement is done separately. If you want to replace the mesh, replace only the GMDC with your changes. If you want to replace the textures, then you'll need to do this: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=266714
You can put both the mesh and texture replacement in the same .package file, to keep things neat.

You can put both the mesh and texture replacement in the same .package file, to keep things neat. I have read your exellent tutorial HP. I just have a question that's a bit confusing, After you mentioned opening a new file &doing all the TXTR replacing, in which stage & where do I swap gmdc's. Do I extract maxis gmdc &then added it to the recource list the same way I do with the TXTR's? i mean should the gmdc be added under txtr's &then replaced in the same procedure? This because I wanna replace the whole thing. I want to keep both in the same package like you mentioned . Many thanks please explain this i'm confused.

Do I export the maxis Gmdc froäm it's recolor like the textures & swap it in the default folder like we did with the textures I'm not really sure if it's possible & where do i right click to open that window you were talking about with textures. I hope you will show me cause I've been waiting to do thi for years. Thank you for your efferts.
