I know that in theory, everything can be packaged with houses in sims3. But, I do not know comes out right on the other end.

I'd like to make a list of what, in your experience, does and does not package well. In other words, what comes with a house someone else will download.

I'd like to do a house trade with someone, or just have any words of wisdom from your experience, to complete this list.

I'd like to know if the following comes out in packaged house:

-Paintings sims make that are just 'painted'
-Paintings of other sims
-Paintings that were made using the camera option
-Pictures taken with a camera and hung on the walls
-Sculptures
-Sculptures of sims
-Anything else you would imagine would not work

Thank you so much for your responses!

What Can Be Included For Sure:
-Artifacts
-Bugs
-Fish
-Cut Gems
-Uncut Gems
-Space Rocks

These are the ones I've tested before. Any more would be useful.

Pretty sure collectibles (fish, fruit, gems, artifacts) package too. And growing plants - but I can't say for certain as I haven't tested it, but I've seen houses that say they're packaged with them.

Hmmm... Perhaps I should include a list of what I know can be packaged. Thanks for the response!

I don't think any sim-made paintings/pictures package, can't be 100% sure though.. At least the pictures you put to those ambitions photoframes don't. (or i have done it wrong ;))

What about books you've written or nectar's you have named? (and teddy bear names! That's a cute feature) oh and what about mechanical upgrades?

I know for a fact my paintings and photos never transfer, it's a very sad fact because some of the masterpieces I've had my sims paint fit right in with the architecture or color schemes of my houses. Collectibles and plants transfer, I've shuffled around a few of my "manor" houses between my PCs to test. Upgrades on objects usually transfer, too. Other than that, I'm not sure...

I've heard of cooked food stored in the refrigerator transfers to. I haven't verified this, though.

Books that are bought from the store and placed in bookshelves usually transfer when I've tried it

How about books written by your sim? Do they transfer or not? I've heard of various issues whereby some patch or new EP deleted all of your sim's self-authored books and required you to re-buy them, but I'm not sure if that was fixed.

I can't tell you for sure what is packed with house. But I've found out how to check.
1) upload your house :heyhey:
2) create a new game
a) rename your Electronic Arts folder in your documents folder, eg name_Electronic Arts
b) run your game, it will create a brand new Electronic Arts folder
3) install your lot in that new game
4) place your lot in the game and let a sim test it.
Now you know for sure what will be delivered with this lot.

I found out that everything you can store in chests will be included. I didn't try yet with LN but at least for Ambitions I know that all the books - inclusive books you can buy at vacation spots or written by your sim - placed in the bookshelves are included. And I know that all the homemade wine stored in wine shelves was included, too.
But books and wine also can be stored in chests.
Nice to know: You can surprise the sims buying a lot by adding chests that are really treasure chests! Harvest of the moneytree, all seeds, all fruit, all fish, the objects you usually can get only with lifetime points like the map that shows the spots with fish, gems, seeds and so on. But also objects you can buy at vacation only like the Sultan's tent or the map helping to find relicts (the eye of Horus?), the good dry food and so on.
The very best: all you have stored in a chest won't affect the price of the lot. It's just the worth of the chest that will be added to price of the house.
As I'm always looking for the best way to help my "newborn" sims to find their way without using the cheats (as for me I only use cheats in connection with building) just using the features the game offers it's a great option to build a shabby hut and let move in a talented and high skilled sim who plants a garden with all the perfect fruit and leaves a chest with all the goodies that would fill the heart of a poor sim with happiness. (eg the expensive kind of glasses with which your sim can have fun with adventure games to raise his moodlets)
Your sim will buy a rundown and shabby lot - and with the goodies he'll find when discovering the treasure chest he has all the time he needs to raise his skills and furnish the house without having to care about the daily income...
(I take care that he only moves out after having replaced all the goodies he used while living in that house. Now he is ready to restart ... and the next poor sims with only 16.000 Simoleons buy that rundown hut ... )
I don't have to emphasise that the chests that came with WA are one of my top five items in Sims3! :D
