Triplets at the grind picture is pure win.

Poor Anthony. How could she resist a stud like that?

Anyway, maybe you could save sims to the bin in CAS (if you have Master Controller), and then find them in the saved sims folder? Thus preventing having to share whole games? I haven't tried this myself. Just a theory. I won't be upset if you don't want to go through the trouble, don't worry about it. ^.^ I have plenty of sims to work with now.

Speaking of how things play out differently... I was a bit shocked when one of the founders of Calisim's original legacy ended up as a criminal in mine. =( He was so adorable in her blog. ;.;

LOL, I guess if Maximus doesn't escape Riverview to become an unemployed hippie, he ends up turning to a life of crime.

Poor guy. I think Maximus spawned some kids aside from Patricia (maybe?), but Patricia was the only cool one. And she was the result of an affair with a super-fat coworker. x.x I haven't paid too much attention to Sacha's best friend lately, but she's spawned a son with her hair color... who is apparently a coward, as he was seen in front of the school trembling at the thought of stethoscopes.

Makes sense, what with Patricia being a doctor.

I realized that I eff'd the "random" roll I got for Martin's generation. >.< I knew how it worked, so I don't know why I suddenly forgot it was supposed to apply to Martin and his brothers, instead of his son/daughter. So I re-rolled and got random again. Then re-rolled and got half-siblings, which can't apply because he only gets one spawn. =(

Re-rolled again with new rules and got tattoo addict. So either Marty or his future wife is in for a world of pain. ^.~ I almost feel as if that's unfair luck, considering I only got it from failure, and it's something I'd find fun instead of challenging. Unless tattoos cost a lot? I've never bought one during gameplay, only messed with it in CAS. Also I'll need to pay more attention to what day it is on the little sim clock, since a tattoo will be needed every week. I kind of feared the partier roll for this reason; I'm very absent-minded, haha.

I think I'll give the next heir random traits as well and call it even.

Calisims, I really liked your last update, Allyson and Ewan are both great and they make such a cute couple!

NutsAndDolts, I just started reading your legacy and I'm trying to catch up, so maybe just post 2-3 times a day instead of 5 so I have a chance, okay? ;)

Here's my next entry, just posted:
Chapter Two: Settling In (http://nestorlegacy.blogspot.com/2011/01/it-was-late-and-farrah-had-been.html)

And thanks everyone for all the nice comments so far!

severed, it's great to see you again.

Great updates, NutsAndDolts and Miss Puff.
I love the sibling rivalry between Arthur and Martin, and Jazz and Sacha's drama.
And, Miss Puff, Farrah's facial expressions are priceless. The cold shower picture cracked me up.

I've got up another chapter of my blog:

Hi severedsolo :bunny:

Miss Puff, I've downloaded this world "Los aniegos" too, but I haven't used it yet.. It seems nice but really big, so I was a bit afraid to use it until now. I like Farrah's face, she's so cute (it's a pity she won't be able to spread her genes). I like the place where she lives too, it changes a lot of the EA's neighboroods.

You are lucky to have an adoptive single parent for your first generation, Farrah will have more time for her career.

Calisims, your heir have my legacy family's name. :luff: .. I'm glad you rolled the luxury for his miscellanous goals, you'll soon be able to test it.

A question on this challenge: what about all the items celebrities receveid sometimes in the game (for just being celebrities) ? Until now, I've sold them directly in the family inventory, as there are no rules about it.

severedsolo
18th Jan 2011, 07:01 AM
For now I'm just saying sell them unless you have Hoarder, I don't think their specifically covered by anything. Personally at some point my Sim's run into money problems (I had one single Sim with a low paying career, Busker, and 4 kids, No Strangers so he couldn't go out to work while they were little) and sold furniture to keep the funds up, so Celebrity Gifts should just be seen as "Oppurtunities" the stuff I got hasn't exactly been mind blowing anyway so far, I have had a toilet roll holder, and a telescope, and I have 3 celebrities.

Mimi, can you please check your PM box and get back to me ASAP so I can get the ball rolling, thanks.

I would want to propose a new rule in "General" rules, its title is "Joker"

Joker- You're allowed to re-roll only one time during for the ten generations.

I have found that rule because I was thinking about impossible or hard combinations that could forced the challengers to let down their family.. For instance : single parent with 5 perfect kids will be too difficult, particularly if there are twins or triplets in the family (and our differents legacy stories have already showed that multiple births are not so rare)..

I was thinking too about repetitive combinations. For instance, for my 10 generations, I have 3 sims in the criminal career (one to come again) 2 in the military career, and 2 in the medical career.. It's not a big problem for me but one of my friend who played this challenge a few months ago said to me that she didn't like to repeat the same thing.. So she choose to roll only one thing and removed this thing every time she played a new generation.. So, if we have the possibility to use this joker in this case too, the challenge will be more fun

Players who meet frequent errors saves too would have a chance to get the "change of scenery" goal, by rolling their joker. For my part, to give another example, I'll certainly choose to reroll if I've an adventurer. WA is an interesting addon, but as I've said above, it's not really good for our neigbhorood by increasing the size of the saves files, as well as the computer memory capacity.. So a joker will certainly be nice for me in this case...

But this joker will have to be used reasonably. Don't urge to use it if you have "2 perfects kids to raise in generation 2", which is a hard goal but perfectly practicable.. to discover later that you'll have a single parent to raise 5 kids in generation 8. Don't use it to reroll a career, just before you don't like it, to discover later that your job hopper will never have enough money to buy parts of at least 3 more rabbit holes..

Of course, if you're are such an unlucky guy that you've used your joker to roll the same card, you'll have to keep it (sorry  )

So, I need the challenger's opinions about this new rule. we can choose to use this joker as a miscellanous fun goal in place of general rules too...all opinions are welcome :call:

Nice chapter calisims. But the kitchen isn't that bad! =O

Oh... so my game takes longer to load because I've been having my sims travel? LoL, oops.

I don't think I'll have them leave Riverview unless I have to. The "watching the town" grow is a fascinating new aspect of the game for me, since before my neighbors were more annoyances than part of the game.

Joker rule sounds fine to me.

I also added the "instead of having a romantic partner, grab a friend or extended family member to help raise the kids" to my own rule-set under family structure, which I'll post on my blog before rolling for Martin's kid. Hopefully I roll this one at least once, for variety. =P

I like the Joker rule, mimi. I think it would be best as a general rule so we could use it any one time in the challenge. I especially like the idea of being able to move neighborhoods if your current one is getting glitchy/error 12s. I'm concerned for this because I am playing an adventurer now, and I'm getting more random crashes and freezes lately, so I might choose to move when this generation is done, and never travel again.
Of course I will let you know luxury goes. I was glad to roll that, I get to be the first, lol.
When I was naming my heir, I was thinking about Commander Shepard from Mass Effect. But of course that's your legacy family's name, too. So now we both have Shepards in Barnacle Bay.

I've wanted to download Los Aniegos, too, but I'm afraid my PC couldn't handle it because of the size. I live in Los Angeles, so it would be fun for me to play in Sim version. I'm looking forward to seeing it through Miss Puff's legacy.

Oh... so my game takes longer to load because I've been having my sims travel? LoL, oops.

Thanks for your replies  .. It's only my opinion, but I suspect travels to generate more bugs and glitches in our neighboroods. I highly suspect too that nectar bottles causes memory issues. Each time I did the choice to put my nectar bottles on racks, I had started to get errors issues not long after.. What I mainly suspect is the growing old system with nectars bottles which is not assumed very well by the game.. So, now, all my bottles stay in the inventory. Backgrounds for cellars, introduced in the game with WA, seems to be also responsible of saves errors.

The game performances highly depends of material caracteristics too, and I have a system Vista 64-bits which seems to be more sensitive to troubles. So, I am really scared of these errors, as I have them since the beginning.

For the joker goal, I'll put it in the general rules. NutsandDolts, I like your new rule, but I'll need more details. In which case this friend will be allowed? For single parents? couples? Will he have to leave the house when the last kid will become teenager? Do you allow him to be the secondary income (section D)? Do you allow him to have childrens?

calisims
18th Jan 2011, 04:31 PM
Thanks for the tip on the nectar bottles. I usually sell most of them and just keep a few 'perfect' ones in inventory in case I roll the party to remember goal. But I was thinkking about putting a nectar rack in my basement, but now maybe I won't. I'd like to avoid errors if I can.

I had an idea for the Misc. Fun category - Opportunist. The heir must accept and complete every opportunity that comes up. Exception would be for opportunities that require travel, because of the problems travel can cause. Also, since sometimes the opportunity relies on reporting to another Sim in the neighborhood, there is no penalty if your Sim can't complete one because the Sim they had to report to died, moved away or disappeared. And of course opportunities that can't be completed because of EA problems, like the issue with the combined rabbitholes can be ignored. Also, because without mods your Sims can end up with celebrity status even if you aren't pursuing it, it would be okay to ignore the celebrity opportunities from your 'agent' if your Sim isn't actually in a celebrity career and you don't want to increase your fame.
This should begin as soon as the heir is a child, so if you don't roll for your heir or haven't chosen one by childhood, all the children in that generation must take all opportunities until you do have a chosen heir. Then only the heir has to do it.
Well, it's an idea, anyway. Maybe the list of exceptions makes the idea impractical, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

mimi250
18th Jan 2011, 05:55 PM
Calisims, "Opportunist" sounds nice for me..I was only thinking that my sims will spend their days doing celebrity opportunities..But as you specified it was allowed to suppress them, there's no problem for me...It seems that there are troubles on opportunities in the game since LN (one more, I know, lol).. Celebrity opportunities are frequent and all the other skills opportunities are now very rare..

I would want to add something about the "Joker" rule- I just realized that this new rule forbid challengers to roll the goals of the 10 generations by advance, as I've done until now (because If we know by advance when to use the joker, it'll give us advantages on other challengers). So, if we introduce "Joker", rolling goals by advance is absolutely forbidden. All challengers will have to roll the goals at (or a few days) before the birth of the heir.

Which means that after my generation 4, I'll have to reroll for generation 5. And so on, until the end.. I know that another challenger had rolled by advance (Maybe flanah, I don't remember)..

Another thing: Thank you to everybody for your participation.. It really helps me to discuss and improve my english, which really needs to be improved lol.. So sorry too for all the faults I let in the topic.

hi everyone. i would like to once again thank everyone for their patience with me on this challange. from reading all yall's legacies and following the generations, none of you all seem to have any problem playing this! for me its a true challange. it isnt my playing style at all. i prefer to play on epic, or maybe even long. see what drama i can cause in town, and enjoy leveling my sims up in careers and skills, and having and raising children. so to play on normal, and have rules.. *sigh* i'm failing miserably, BUT that's what keeps me going, i like a challange. so with that being said, i've once again started over my legacy family. my last one had adopted the 4th kid, the adults were a few days from elder, and one momma sim still hadn't mastered the painting skill to even START painting portraits. sooo my "awesome" would never be met. so i started over, with the same roll rules. just wanted like a "do-over". so with that being said....

please meet Coco and Shea Butter.newlyweds that have moved to riverview to start the new phase of their lives.

http://i55.tinypic.com/20qe45z.jpg

Shea Butter has dreams of being leader of the Free world and Coco Butter is content to work part-time and spend most of her time and enegry at home, raising the children, fixing things that break, painting, and being a supportive spouse to Shea.

Shea and Coco have decided they want to get settled into town and their careers first before adding children into the mix. So they are enjoying dining out together, Woohooing in public places, and showing affection and love to one another. There's plenty of time for children in the future.

Los Aniegos is very big, sometimes I actually get lost trying to find the different parts of the neighborhood. I wouldn't have run it on my old computer, but I just got a new one for Christmas that can handle it fine. I also live near LA, which does make it very fun to play. One problem with it, though, is that there's not a whole lot of space for adding on. Even in the Riverdale area where Farrah lives and there's a lot of empty space, most of it's marked as unroutable so you can't even add new lots. I was worried that this might be a problem if I rolled Living Green too often, but then I reread the rules and noticed that you have the option to "improve significantly upon an existing lot", so it might be okay.

Calisims, I like the Opportunist idea, how's this wording sound for taking care of the exceptions?

"The heir must accept and complete every opportunity that comes up beginning in childhood that doesn't involve travel or come from your celebrity agent (although you can complete those too if you want). If you don't know which child will be the heir yet, all children must complete their opportunities until you decide. Opportunities can be deleted only if you are unable to complete them because the sim you must report to has died, moved away or disappeared, or if a game bug or glitch prevents you from completing it."

In general, I usually think it's okay to "cheat" a little if there is a bug in the game that's messing things up for you. No one should lose the challenge just because of poor programming issues.

EDIT:
Orkhid, Shea and Coco are cute, looking forward to see what they get up to. Don't worry too much about playing the challenge perfectly, it's a learning experience and should be fun too, so it's okay if you make mistakes sometimes, just keep trying!

LOL, LA is big and sprawly enough that I get lost when I leave my part of town, too.
I love the wording for the opportunist, that's very concise and makes sense.
Great start orkhid. Keep on trying and you'll get the hang of it. It's pretty big adjustment to go from playing on epic to playing a challenge legacy on normal lifespan. Like Miss Puff said, don't worry about playing perfectly, and you'll get through it.

My idea for the friend/extended family member would be that it replaces your sim's traditional partner as the functional parent of his/her children, even though they may not be the biological or adoptive parent of those the children. Your sim would NOT be allowed to move in a romantic partner, as the friend or family member already fills that role. And yes, this friend/sibling/cousin/whatever would be assigned the secondary income. They wouldn't HAVE to move out when the next heir comes of age, though nothing prohibits it. The friend may have their own children to fulfill the number of children requirement as well, but those children cannot be the heir, nor can they belong to the primary income sim. The next heir must be one of the previous heir's children.

So basically it's just another version of "the couple," with a possible step-children sort of spin if the player desires.

Hopefully that's not too confusing.

...I have nectar bottles in my basement. O.O I never have the sim actually place them down. I just drag them in. I'm a big "hand of god" fan. Sims are just too darn slow at doing anything themselves.

I am already starting this with a Pokemon theme. I accidentally used the old rules for Gen 1 and Gen 2 but I don't want to start over and I am going to ignore a couple of the random rules as my family's themes are Pokemon with five letters in their name and I choose the traits that spelt out their names:

For example, Golem, my founder, is Good, Over-Emotional, Loner, Excitable, and Mean-Spirited. Her daughter(who isn't conceived yet) will be named Eevee Pokemon and have the traits of Easily Impressed, Excitable, Vegetarian, Eco-Friendly, and Eccentric. And so on...

Gen. 1 rules are Single Parent, one child, Firefighter, Expansionist, and Hoarder.

Gen. 2 rules are Single Parent(again?! :faceslap: ), two children, Adventurer(yes, I love hunting for relics since I got 2BTech's mod to fix the relic excavation bug!), Livin' Green(which fits since Eevee's traits had to have Eco-Friendly and Vegetarian), and Hoarder(AGAIN!?!!? AAAAAAARGH!!!! :wtf: I'll never get rid of my junk!!!! :( )

I'll put up a blog with my progress once I get my first part down. I know it's jumping the gun but I really want to do this as everything else glitches and dies. :(

I like your idea, NutsandDolts.. I think we could add this to section A (marital status-20).. And do you want to add a rule saying that love is not allowed in this relationship? Because if these two sims love each other, and also have babies together, we will be in the scheme "couple" although it's "single parent" which would have been rolled at first

As of 18th January 2011 The Random Legacy Challenge - A Late Night Spin Off's new home will be here: http://randomlegacychallenge.blogspot.com/

It has become increasingly obvious to me that one man cannot possibly hope to keep this challenge updated by myself, so mimi250 and calisims have kindly agreed to be co-admin's with me in keeping updates coming in.

This thread will still be the place to post suggestions and your stories (blogspot isn't good for that) although comments are also welcomed on the blog itself.

Re-read the challenge rules, as they have been updated with most of the great suggestions that have been posted here. and make sure that you check out the new "Optional Rules" section underneath the Main Rules.

Although I appreciate that it is not ideal having the rules and the discussion thread in two seperate locations, hopefully you will see that it is a better solution for us as it means that the three of us (and other admin's later on possibly) can edit the rules when we need to, rather than waiting for if/when I can get online. It also frankly is alot tidier than having the rules spread out across multiple pages as it is all there in one easy to read location.

I would like to thank everyone who has born with me while I have been probably the worst challenge admin in history in terms of updates, and hope to continue to read your great stories and suggestions.

Thank you again,
Martin

Yes, I'm double posting, but the one above is more of an announcement.

I have a couple of idea's for new rules:

First, a change for one of Tigger's Generation Goal: Fulfilled - Every wish promised to your Sim (and heir when appropriate) must be fufilled. Although you don't have to promise them all, a wish can only be cancelled if it becomes impossible to complete (for instance if it concerns a Sim who dies, or your Sim wants to "stay on the honour roll for 3 days" and has aged up) Additionally your Sim (and heir when appropriate)'s LTW must be completed.

Secondly, and this one will stay in the "Optional Rules" as it will require AwesomeMod or Twallan's Master Controller: Misc Fun - "Mutation" - Every child born to this Generation, once they become a toddler, must be taken back to CAS and you must press the "Randomise" button ONCE. Whatever the child comes out looking like is what you're stuck with.

I'm thinking the second one can offset "pudding" a little bit, as I find even with a decent SP Mod the Genetics still tend to stagnate after a while.

I don't think you are even near the worst challenge admin, Martin. Putting the rules on blogspot was a great idea, because it is easier to update and keep all the rules on a page where people can find them. I'm glad to help out.

ETA: I love the change to fulfilled. I end up fulfilling LTWs of all my Sims, so when I roll that as a goal, it's too easy to fulfill.

severedsolo, there are much more wishes coming in one day than wishes that we can lock on the board.. So there will be wishes that we won't be able to achieve, simply because there are already 4 wishes on the board and no more places to add new ones.. A lot of wishes need time to be fulfilled, but if you think that wishes can disappear without being completed (because of a full board) we will be able to do it...

For the second option, I don't think I'll be interested to change my sim's face, so I'll let this one in my case.

very good idea to add the "joker" rule to the miscellanous fun too.. We'll be able to have more than one, and use them later. :gjob:

And thank you very much martin for this new blog and your help

No, they wouldn't be in a romantic relationship... merely raising the kids together.

Yes Mimi, that's the idea. Not all wishes have to be promised, (I always ignore the "play games with <Sim> ones) but if you DO promise them, you have to complete them (unless it becomes impossible). Effectively, the rule is that you are not allowed to right click a wish away without completing it, unless it becomes impossible.

On changing faces, I agree completely it won't be to everyone's taste's hence why it is going into the new "Optional Rules" post

@NutsandDolts is there another play tag glitch? eesh, how can EA bork suck a simple interaction so badly? I guess I haven't noticed it as I use my No Autonomous Tag Mod as running disease gets really old really quickly; http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=409718&goto=newpost&posted=1#post3425529

I rolled:
-Single parent
-One child
-Fishersim
-Change of scenery
-Homemade

How exactly can the first generation go about fulfilling the "change of scenery" goal? Rebuilding the house would be kind of strange if that same Sim is the one who built the original.

Also, the rules say to roll a number between 1 and 12 for parts E and F but each of these parts actually has 13 options. Just a small typo, not a significant problem.

severedsolo

Isn't there a clause that says to re-roll for Generation 1? I'll have to look at that.

Just re-roll your Generation Goal. Thanks for the heads up about the numbering, I obviously forgot to change it when sorting out the new rules.

It must be fixed, because it does take effect when they are teens. So yay, that's fixed. (Though as severed mentioned, the always run bug from playing tag still exists.) I've become the anti-tag nazi in my game since the first time it messed up my relationships.
So I'm going to snag that no autonomous tag mod, lol.

I think playing tag is cute, so I just let them do it unless I have better things for them to do.

I don't mind the tag itself, it's the fact that they get stuck always running after playing tag. I let Connor play tag once and he runs everywhere. It works for him because he's an athlete, but otherwise it gets old fast.
LOL, I'm used to third cousin marriages by now. In my last legacy by the time I hit 5th generation it was nearly impossible to find anyone not descended from Thornton Wolff. As long as the game isn't flagging them as too related to marry, I'm okay with it.

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-1204.jpg[http://www.modthesims.info/editpost.php?do=editpost&p=3426661#/img] (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-1204.php)

Penny is a happy newlywed and has just given birth to a girl: Manuelle. She is in the stylist career.

Things were less easy for Phoebe, she succeeded to break Roger and Mia Rao's mariage. She went to live in a little house with her new fiance. But Roger feels remorse to have let his wife and childrens down. And things are not so good between them. Polly invited her in the only dive bar and found her really depressed. Phoebe was pregnant at this time. After the birth of her son, Eddy, things seems to be better now between Phoebe and Roger. But Phoebe is evil and insane and I have a flood of daily messages on her, saying that she's now ennemy with someone, have had a fight with another one, and cheat Roger sometimes too  .. She's even the ennemy of her sister Penny altough they were best friends when they had left the house... Phoebe is a real evil woman

[img]http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-13211.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-13211.php)

Mia was devastated by the loss of her husband. Not that she was really fond of him because she cheated him with Anthony since a long time. But she was left alone to raise 3 children, including 1 teenager. Fortunately, she found Anthony to give her consolation.. Not long after, she was pregnant for the fourth time. Anthony's daughters were YA now, leaving their own lives but this new baby will need his father. So Anthony married Mia and moved to her house.. 2 days after, she gave birth to a son: Anatole

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-1393.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-1393.php)

So, Polly is alone in the house now. She has no boyfriend and no really time for that. The medical career is very difficult and needs a lot of books to read, and logic skill to work. I was afraid to bore with her, as she's alone. But it's a pleasure to play with a single sim. When she's not at work, she go to the dive bar and clubs.. Sometimes she doesn't sleep at home, I send her to her grandparent's home (Andy and Rosa) who live again with their daughter, Kelly. It's better because she can have a social life with them, instead of being alone at home, and with no strangers restriction, she has a lot of cleaning to do. And she has no time for that. So sleep at grandparents's home is a good option.

It's aunt Kelly's bed?? Oh sorry

Polly's boss is a very attractive man, a renowed surgeon. His name is Marc Crosse-Presse. After a week, she is now at the level 3 of her career and they are best friends. They always talk about medecine, and Marc teach her all she has to know to treat their patients.

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-1626.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-1626.php)

Marc: You see, this is the way to put a band-aid
Polly: "Oh I didn't know that, I thought I had to put it on their mouths"

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-1671.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-1671.php)

Polly: The patients don't want to swallow their cachets. How can I do to force them?
Marc: "Break their right knee when they don't pay attention, and when they scream just throw the cachets in their mouths. They'll have a broken leg but it'll be better than to be dead" :help:

Marc's advices had already been applied by Polly. She has been called to the cemetery for a vaccination campaign.. Only 4 sims came, but she succeeded with it and was congratulated by her boss.

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-1571.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-1571.php)

"Ahhh, you want to kill me? " "Sorry, I think I've pierced a bone" :wtf:

The awesome thing for me will be to achieve all the challenges of her logic skill journal. She's very young and I won't adopt her future kids before she becomes adult, so I 've plenty of time and won't update before a few days.. :giggler:

Is anyone playing in Bridgeport? I'm coming to the end of my old game now and considering restarting. How does it work out in Bridgeport? Do you struggle to find homes big enough?

Severedsolo, I played in Bridgeport until the triplet's birth (generation 4).. It's not a good idea I think. There are too much bugs in this city and things that don't work. Twallan's SP didn't work and crashed my game in Bridgeport. It works fine now in Barnacle.

At the end, I had 7 sims in a really small apartment (even if I had add more rooms), and fortunately I had the"change of scenery" goal. So I moved all the family in Barnacle.

Elevators that sometimes don't work well, the subway which is a loose of time, clubs sometimes empty, the weather always cloudy are very stressing when you play more than a few weeks. I don't think I'll return in this city. Barnacle is much better

quite a few changes have have happened in the Butter family.

Shea and Coco were gettting antsy to start on their family. Coco was becoming more depressed, harder to please. all she could think about was a child. So finally Shea agreed they could adopt. Although they had orginally agreed they would wait until Shea was at least to level 5 (she was at level 4 ) they called the adoption agency. a bouncing, bundle of joy was sent to them. Toffee Butter. a cute toddler.

http://i53.tinypic.com/691fth.jpg

it was love at first sight. both moms worked night and day to ensure Toffee learned all he needed, walking, potty training, talking. in addition to making sure he had the toys needed for optimal growth and development.

http://i51.tinypic.com/35iwxu0.jpg
http://i51.tinypic.com/eu23rd.jpg

Shea and Coco also made sure they still spent time with one another. Coco, ever the supporting wife, was there schmoozing when Shea threw her first campaign fundraiser.

http://i51.tinypic.com/2ex7s6v.jpg
http://i53.tinypic.com/15p2yjd.jpg

due to excellent parenting, and being in a loving environment, Toffee had a wonderful birthday, and a newly picked trait of clumsy ( i like to laugh when the sims trip over themselves)

http://i53.tinypic.com/2nbaow2.jpg

they spend quality time together
http://i56.tinypic.com/2r3gz9v.jpg

Shea and Coco were soon antsy again. so not more than a day after Toffee grew into an adorable child ( and a handy dandy make-over) they welcomed into their family a sister for Toffee to play with, Mango Butter.

http://i51.tinypic.com/xomccg.jpg

updates: mango hasnt been made over but that's sure to come. shea and coco are stylish and although they dont have a lot of money, they know to shop around at Marshalls and TJ Maxx to get the children looking fly for less. Shea has been working hard at work and is now at level 7 of her career, and Coco is almost up to level 7 of painting. 3 more children soon to come.

Great updates, mimi & orkhid.
I like Marc, mimi. In English he is called Moe Pesce. I've always liked him. LOL, I love his medical advice.
I love your names, orkhid.

So, I added NutsAndDolts' single parent with helper rule to the marital structure. I included a clause that allows you to reroll this if you get it in generation 1, since in that generation you won't have cousins or siblings or even friends to choose from as a helper. So, check that over (it's rule 21 in the marital structure section) and let me know if it needs changes, and your opinions about letting gen 1 reroll it.

In fairness, there is really no reason why the "helper" couldn't be made in CAS as well and just leave them as Housemates.

I think we need some more unconventional career idea's. I'm racking my brains trying to think of something at the moment.

I've got an idea for a new Generation goal i'm thrashing out at the moment, it needs some work I think but it goes like this:

Lord/Lady of the Manor - This Generation your Sim must increase their Household funds (not worth, this is hard cash) by 50,000 Simoleans (Swimming in cash LTW, so I assume its possible) and procure an impressive Manor House in which to live. The Manor must have at least 5 Bedrooms. You can either build it yourself, or download one and move into it (ignore the restrictions on staying on the same lot if you roll this).

I'm not exactly happy with it, but it's a rough outline, thoughts? suggestions? bacon?

okay, I fixed the single with helper rule to state that if you roll that as gen 1, you can create the sibling or friend in CAS. That's much better. :D

I like the new generation goal idea, severed. I think it should be doable in most cases, though I worry a bit if you roll single income part-time job or something like that in the same generation. Also, with the household funds increase, it will be hard to keep track, since paying your bills etc. comes out of the same funds, it's such a fluid number.
But I really like the buying an impressive manor part.

New careers will be tough, as there are only so many ways to make money in the game and we seem to have covered them all. Until the next EP, lol.

19th Jan 2011, 02:53 PM
You've covered everything except gold-digging, and that one's just evil so I'm glad it's not there, LOL.

At least i think it's not there. *wanders off to check again*

I'm not sure I like all the challenges that require me to scrap the houses and make a new one. D= I'm fiercely attached to them. It's a legacy after all. If I ever roll change of scenery, I'd only have them leave for that single generation. Which might be kind of fun for the story, but only if I don't happen to roll it a million times.

Maybe for the manor, we could just have our existing house be upgraded up to meet those requirements? My house is pretty big now, but it doesn't have five bedrooms. I doubt many do! ^.^ So unless you'd roll that twice, there would be room for improvement.

edit: *all my luff* for adding #21. You guys came up with very concise wording. :gjob:

severedsolo
19th Jan 2011, 03:48 PM
Absolutely NutsandDolts there is no reason why the Manor couldn't become your existing house. The 5 bedroom idea was more of a way of defining what a "Manor" is. the rule is very much a work in progress.

As for the household funds, I don't know if anyone else does this, but I have a notepad document where I record anything relevant to the challenge (like goals etc.) so I guess you could record your funds there. I was thinking of linking it in to the household worth, but frankly, the game counts any Sim as being "rich" if they are worth more than $100,000 which with a decent house is quite easy.

mimi250
19th Jan 2011, 04:41 PM
Severedsolo, I think we have already the "change of scenery" goal.. so move and build another house is already covered by this goal (in my opinion).. I don't like to play on big lots and big house (another source of game lags and crashs) . So I would let this one.

About funds, it's a good idea to have this limit. Like calisims, I think it could be stressing at first, if you don't gain a lot in your career and have to gain thousands of simoleons to achieve this goal. But we can test.

About careers, I always wonder why parttime jobs were not allowed to the section C-careers. There are goals which would be hard to achieve with only a parttime job, and others goals not (plenty of time to raise perfect kids if your sim is a single parent). It could be really hard, particularly for the first generation but it can be fun to try too. To reduce the effects of parttime jobs we could choose to add only a few numbers to roll these kind of careers. I mean, at present, we have 19 or 20 numbers to roll for the section C-careers.. we could add 21 or 22 only for a parttime job. So less probabilities to have it...

mimi250
19th Jan 2011, 05:07 PM
Another thing, related to the "awesome" goal. Why not to share it in 3 parts:

-You may paint all your family members

-You may collect all relics, or bugs, or gems and expose them.. or have a collection of gem cuts (skull cut or huge metal).. or have a collection of spatial rocks.

-You may achieve all the challenges linked to a skill you need for your career. For exemple: a scientist needs to learn the gardening skill. So, he 'll have to achieve the challenges linked to this skill..

-About the "runs in the family" goal.. it's a common trait for the family, so I think their way of life, their clothes, their house, their meals must reflect this common trait. If the family is snob, add more rooms with a lot of expensive items for instance (Severedsolo's manor idea could be great in this case). If it's virtuoso, they will go to concerts every week, create a band (not to earn money if they are not allowed to.., but at least for the fun). If your sim loves outdoors, a big garden with lot of outdoors activities could be add on the lot.. this common trait could be choose randomly (by rolling the game traits)

I think too that we can add limit of time to introduce new rules in the challenge (for example, new ideas and modified rules could be introduced every 1 or 2 months).. It could be disturbing for challengers to have news rules added every week, particularly if they have already rolled for the next heir.

NutsAndDolts
19th Jan 2011, 10:44 PM
All relics? Like every Chinese Vase, or literally ALL relics? x.x

I think awesome should be left sort of open-ended. Though adding those listed as suggestions is a great idea, because inevitably someone would be stuck without direction...

And there are probably too many traits to set up strict rules for every single one for "runs in the family". =/

i must say the timeing this time around (is timeing even spelt right? eh smh) ok anyways.. i'm doing so much better! i've gotten 3 of the rules complete for this gen..which is gen 1. i have tons of free time to play so here is another update. i'm not doing a blog b/c well.. thats just not me. here are my updates.

Once Shea and Coco adopted Mango, they were like adoption happy. they've added three additional children to their family. after Mango, they adopted Almond Butter (he's the heir. i did a random roll, and the 3rd child would be the heir), then came Coconut Butter, and the last to arrive into the family is Peanut Butter.

Below are just a lot of pics of the family growing. Pictures of the children spending time with one another, birthdays and growing.

my one complaint with EA is that i absolute hate how fast relationships lessen. i mean it's hard to maintain a relationship with 5 children, and go to work, and do everything else. i miss the sims 2 relationships.

here is coconut, no make-over
http://i52.tinypic.com/fnbxbm.jpg

generation updates:
shea is about to level up to 9 in the political career. Coco is level 2 as receptionist at the spa. the teenagers (the first 3) are right behind each other in age. Toffee, Mango, and Almond will age up in about 2 or 3 sim days. leaving Peanut to age up. because i'm waiting until all children age up to teen to get their potraits painted, i only have 2 done.

gen goals complete: adoptive couple, 5 kids, part time and full time job. and awesome is almost complete.

just a couple of quick questions. i rolled adventurer for my next gen. i have an idea of keeping mango in the house even though she isnt the heir, to fufill the couple requirement, and have Almond move his baby momma's in, then kick 'em out after they deliver. will that be too many people in the house to fufill the "couple" category?

I guess a likely culprit IS travel, since that adds so many new people for the game to keep track of. But I love world adventures so it's depressing. And I don't want to have to abandon my town, obviously.

At first my freezes were sort of predictable. My game was likely to freeze if I'd been doing a lot of zooming in or out. It was likely to freeze when I tried to use a camera. If I suddenly click the "walls up" button with the camera too close to a wall, the game might freeze. I got used to saving the game before attempting such risky activities as searching the ground for metals or having a sim pose for a portrait. But just now, Martin and Melody were playing chess and it froze. x.x I had to re-live Pavel aging up to a teenager three times.

These freezes only happen in Riverview though... never in an adventure world.

mimi250

Random freezes were well-know troubles in Barnacle Bay. When this neighborood was upload on EA store, a lot of players complained about having more lags and freezes in Barnacle than in others neighboroods. It was my case too.. the first time I played in Barnacle, I've had a lot of freezes which nearly made this neighborood unplayable. So I let it down

With LN, some players found that they were less freezes in Barnacle. So, it's the reason why I choose to return in this neighborood with my legacy family.. Except one time, I haven't got freezes anymore. I was hoping that Barnacle had been updated by the last EP and the last patches but your last messages has just ruined this hope

Except for Barnacle Bay troubles, random freezes can be caused by too many .package files in your mods folder. You can try to merge them by using Sim3Pe. It’s better to merge them by category.

I use Overwatch too, and it solves the lags troubles I had in bridegport, by deleting cars in inventories. But unfortunately, lags and freezes can have much more causes. And sometimes it’s hard to solve them.
You can try to move out by changing your goal in “change of scenery” I think this way can be accepted if someone faces big troubles, like you. …

EDIT: after reading your second message, it seems to me that it's more a memory issue. I had read a topic in the french EA forum saying that there is troubles in riverview when players go in vacation and returns to this neighborood. But it seems to me that your problem is clearly a memory issue. Maybe you've too much CC, families (particularly if you use Twallan SP or awesomemod), neighboroods.. Try to delete families or houses, and see what happen...

I'm constantly saving lately, because I get random freezes and crashes now more than ever. (Before LN, I never got freezes or crashes, just error 12s.) And like NutsAndDolts, these freezes and crashes only happen in the home world, not in WA worlds.
So far it's not so bad that I feel a need to move neighborhoods, but if it gets bad enough I will try moving. I try not to use too much CC so I don't have a lot of package files.

mimi250
20th Jan 2011, 03:39 PM
I am sorry to read you and NutsDolts faced troubles with your games, calisims.. I had hoped that these troubles would have let you quiet at least until the 7th or 8th generation.. But this time again I was dreaming..

Twallan's SP is much needed to play even if it hasn't a good effect on memory capacity and I don't think that CC are responsible of all the troubles we have with this game. Except for the lags we met with too much CC in .package files, I have never had any troubles with CC (only one time, and it was a hair from the store). This is sad because we all are fans of this game, but the game itself has a lot of inconveniences and bugs that makes it unplayable after a few generations. No need to search in CC, or computers. It's a bad game, too quickly made with a lot of imperfections and memory issues.. And it will be worst with all the future EP..

Have you tried to add more RAM to your computers? maybe it would make a difference, particulary since EA has made the game large Adress Aware (then less errors 12). I have a 8 Gb system, but the computer use only 4.. and sometimes my computer lags or freezes when I leave the game, which means for me that problems with the game will come too, soon or late...

I'll try to hunt down some less desirable people in town and destroy them and their houses, I guess. x.x

If I try "cleansing the dead," will my family trees get messed up?

calisims
20th Jan 2011, 06:28 PM
Cleansing the dead won't hurt your family trees. Before you do it, make sure you have retrieved any urns/gravestones of anyone in town you want to keep and place them somewhere in the world. Any graves/urns that are stored inside the rabbithole mausoleum will be cleared out by cleansing the dead.
(The way EA story progression works, anyone who dies who is not a resident of the family currently in play leaves no gravestone/urn at all. Twallan's changes it so you can retrieve urns/gravestones of your friends and relatives from the mausoleum if you want them. Cleansing the dead gets rid of all the gravestones/urns of everyone in town you don't want to retrieve. It does not remove the dead from the family trees of any of their relatives)

mimi, I'm not having too too much troubles. Some days I get no crashes or lags, and on other days I get several. And so far no error 12s. I did get more RAM before when I was having error 12s, but my problem is ultimately that I'm running XP and it doesn't allow me to set more RAM. Well, I think that's right, I'm not too tech savvy and I think that is what my husband told me at the time. Sooner or later I will need to upgrade, I guess.

I'm currently at a standstill in my game because Arthur aged up to an adult and when I try to move him out, the game just freezes. There's literally only one house my family can afford to move him into, as well. =/ After the first few crashes and reloads, I fiddled with something else and then suddenly noticed SP moved a family into that house. Gah.

So I evicted the random newcomers mercilessly, and still the game crashed when trying to move using the computer.

Is there some option where I can have him move in with a friend? I know "ask to move in" just adds that person to YOUR house, not the other way around. D=

Unfortunately the rules of the challenge seem to be against using edit town to merge him with a different household? Presumably because the cost to the family would be nil? I'm not sure how to handle this one.

calisims
20th Jan 2011, 08:59 PM
Actually, the rules say you can kick out any non-heirs when they age up, which sends that Sim into the whims of story progression, which usually moves that Sim into a house at no cost to your family. So, since money is not an object and you are having crashes trying to move out the normal way, I say go ahead and use edit town to split Arthur out of the household.
The rules have to be lenient toward finding way to get around crashes, glitches and other problems, or we'd all have to just give up, lol.
If you feel guilty about the money, you can use master controller family funds to subtract the cost of the house. But you don't actually have to, since you would be allowed to kick Arthur out for free.

ETA: Also, you can use master controller. Click on an empty (or occupied, for that matter) house and choose 'Add Sim', select the Sim you want to live there and presto, he lives there.

Calisims, it seems to me that your troubles are linked with the WA neighboroods.. Maybe I'm wrong, but you haven't had any troubles before sending Ewan to China and France.. So I'm repeating but WA is not a good option for a so long challenge.. I'd prefer reroll with a adventurer in the family and install in the neighborood a few lots from WA we haven"t got at home (china academy, nectary...) It's what I had done in Bridgeport, my sims was able to enjoy the academy in Bridgeport and they didn't need to travel to learn the martial art skills or enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the Academy

There are mods here too allowing players to buy items from China, France and Egypt in our neighborood's stores..

I think you are right, mimi. I had a few freezes before Ewan joined the family, but not very often. After I started traveling I was getting more freezes and now crashes. So, I'm going to have to move my family since I can no longer play in my neighborhood. Ewan will have to give up his career as an adventurer, as I will not be traveling anymore in this challenge. At least I have a good story reason for the sudden move and Ewan not being able to travel anymore, but I'll save that for my next update.
In the meantime I have to go add a movie studio and some bars & nightclubs to Twinbrook so my family can move there.

That's so sad. =( Having to leave the extended family behind and all.

Though I may have to do it soon as well, if things get worse. The best part is, in my case, I brought it on myself, LOL. I didn't roll adventurer, I just said to myself "I haven't done all the tombs yet/I want some vases."

...Of course I also wanted a complete metal and bug collection, after I rolled collector. Still no luck on trilobites, rainbow beetles or the new LA bugs that don't even spawn in Riverview for all I know.

LN spiders, termits, bugs and stones can be found only in Bridgeport, which is a total non-sense.

I can understand your disappointment, what is really sad is not to be able to use an EP we have all bought.. Each EP new towns have to be given up.. WA neighboroods and Bridgeport have to be forgotten.. Fortunately, twinbrook is available yet  .. I am looking forward to have news of Mc dermott's family and their new life

I added spawners for the LN bugs & stones to Barnacle Bay, and I'll do the same for Twinbrook now that I'm setting it up.
It's hard finding space for things. I had to add the combo city hall/police/military rabbithole and the bulldoze the military facility to make room for the film studio.
There is one 'hangout' in town that will make a good dive bar. It has lots of space upstairs for a band stage and dance floor. I'll find a spot to plop the Grind down. Since I got to bulldoze the police station, the grind might go there. Though that's right next to the hospital. I know that stuff doesn't matter to Sims, but I have to laugh at the zoning that allows noisy nightclubs next to a hospital.

I am sad to be leaving my extended family.I'm also sad I didn't *get* any cool vases. I did get a complete set of zodiac animals from China, and some of the gold statues from Egypt, but none of the fancy vases. Boo.

You can use a mod to buy them at the grocery. There is one on MTS (I haven't kept the link). it's called "WA Vacation objects + Newspaper + Pizza Buyable at Grocerystore" but I haven't tested it yet and don't know at all if all vases are available.. :)

To add spawners enter a community lot in Edit Town. Enter 'testingcheatsenabled true' and then enter 'BuyDebug On'. Once you have buy debug on, you will see in the buy catalog a section (in sort by category, not in sort by room) labeled with a question mark. In there you will see different categories of items. Fish spawners, plant and seed spawners, rosk/metal/gem spawners and insect spawners each have there own category. Choose one and you will see spawners for all the kinds of insects/gems/fish/whatever. When you place them you will see a white box. When you enter BuyDebug Off, the boxes become invisible.

I have the mod for buying WA items. I don't think I saw the relic items, just stuff like the cameras, martial arts things, shower in a can, stuff like that. But I will look again.
You can actually get some of the relics in the Buy Debug menu, in the misc. objects category. There is lots of fun stuff there for decorating community lots.

I think, for spawners, you can use the "buydebug on" cheat. There's a section for them. Just add them to community places as necessary. I might do this for the LN bugs, as I see some specially marked spawners in there. =)

No spiders though. EW.

Edit: calisims beat me to it.

And yeah... the vases were a pain. Though Leona found a good number of them, she had to resort to trolling the relics shop in China every single day to complete the collection. It's something I always wanted to do in my other games, but never got lucky enough. =(

I'm adding frogs & crawfish (from France) to Twinbroook. Because frogs are not just in France! And Twinbrook just needs some crawfish, you know?
I like to put a vampire eye spawner in the graveyard, along with spiders and will'o'wisps.

I did actually once get a full set of vases without even buying them, it was my first adventurer when WA came out. Of course she had a long lifespan and didn't marry or have children or even have a life in her neighborhood, she traveled all the time, lol.

I'm so sorry to hear about everyone's problems. I haven't had any crashing problems on my new computer so far, but I haven't visited any vacation worlds yet, either. Twallan does have a mod for moving multiple households together if you want to try keeping some of the extended family while moving to a new neighborhood: http://www.the-isz.com/nraas/index.php?topic=72.0.

Great chapter, Miss Puff, I'm looking to forward to seeing what happens with Pat Gabriel, and with the bartender.
I've seen Twallan's porter mod, but as much as I hate leaving behind my extended family, the story reason I've come up with for the sudden move wouldn't really fit if I brought more of the family along. So I'm rolling with the situation as it lies.
I don't blame you for rerolling, orkhid.

This is actually my first time ever playing the investigator career, I'm having fun with it so far. And I have to say I'm also looking forward to what's going to happen, I have no idea at this point. I've been busy getting ready for school starting next week, so I haven't had as much time to play as I'd like.

It does look like your story is going to be getting interesting, calisims, so I'm looking forward to seeing what happens, even if it will be kind of sad.

Earlier, people were talking about adding new careers. I use Twallans career mod and it adds several new careers so I added them onto the non-standard list for my own personal use:
13) Handysim - Use Twallan's career mod to earn money repairing objects in the Handiness career.
14) Martial Artist - Use Twallan's career mod to earn money sparring and training sims in the Martial Arts career.
15) Athletic Coach - Use Twallan's career mod to earn money training sims using gym equipment in the Athletic career.
16) Hacker - Use Twallan's career mod to earn money hacking on the computer in the Hacking career.
17) Chess Master - Use Twallan's career mod to earn money playing chess matches in the Chess career.

Hacking was listed under the Freelance Scientist career, but I just removed it, in my mind science and hacking are very different things anyway. There's also a collecting and guitar career that could work with those same options that are already listed.

Unfortunately this couldn't go in the official rules since it requires a mod, but I thought I'd list them anyway, in case any one else wants to use it.

Miss Puff, I've had a lot of fun to read the third part of your story. I don't know who is Pat Gabriel, neither Chery Hudson. But I know P. Diddy as he's a famous international celebrities.

I was disappointed to read that Pat has a wife. And I find his house impressive (at least the entry room). I'd think about moving at Los aniegos if I have to move in another place during the challenge. I'm looking forward the 4th part.

I like the idea, definitely, unfortunately your right, we can't put it into the rules as I think requiring a specific mod goes against the whole "Doesn't fundamentally change the way you play the game" which is the philosophy I try to stick to when creating new rules.

Im giving up on my family, its just too jumpy now. Unfortunately, I have been sending my Sim's to Bridgeport (which I am using as a default replacement to France) alot, so I think that's what causing it.

Im counting this as a win though, I am on Generation 10, its just I can't put myself through waiting until they die. Woop! First time I have actually completed this challenge!

Congrats on completing the challenge, severedsolo! I've never completed a legacy before, I'm hoping that the random rules for this one will give me more motivation to keep going, as well as writing the story.

mimi, I'm not completely sure who they are, either, since their names are changed for their sim versions. The only ones I know for sure are D. Piddy is P. Diddy and Lady Lala is Lady Gaga, because those names are obvious. I was guessing Pat Gabriel was Tom Cruise, but his wife isn't blonde, so I'm not sure. Also, Cheryl Hudson might be Paris Hilton, I never met her in game before she died so I don't know what her career was if she had one.

NutsAndDolts
22nd Jan 2011, 12:34 PM
Oh... that's cool I suppose. Lucky for him, painting is a skill kids can practice.

I noticed something else weird. One of my sims was meditating in the graveyard at night, when one of the ghosts popped up, went to the street, got in a cheap car (???), drove to an empty lot (!!!!) and vanished. Five minutes later, a second ghost did the exact same thing. All jokes about the overwatch cars removed aside, is this normal?

severedsolo
22nd Jan 2011, 12:39 PM
When the game generates a ghost, it plops them into the NPC household temporarily, (found this out by accident, when I saw a ghost wandering about and wondered who it was and looked at them with MC) and as any non active Sim can now just get a car for free, ghosts are no exception.

It's a cheap car because the NPC household has no household funds, the game generates different cars depending on how rich the household is. (can't tell you the figures, as frankly I can't be bothered to trawl through gameplaydata, but I saw it there while looking for hotspot tuning the other day)

So yes, it's quite normal.

NutsAndDolts
22nd Jan 2011, 01:19 PM
Temporarily? So they'll return to the graveyard at some point, or will this behavior occur every time they spawn?

That's... weird, EA.

Though if this is normal, I don't know why I assumed they couldn't leave the graveyard. I guess I paid more attention to EA's promotional artwork than to the actual graveyards.

http://r2simslegacy.blogspot.com/

Next chapter is up. I'm seeing a lot of extremely ugly sims around town, including some of Melody's sisters, so I'm starting to worry about my legacy's future. =P

severedsolo
22nd Jan 2011, 01:30 PM
What will happen, is whenever their 6 hours is up, they will just "poof" out of existence like normal, and will be removed from the NPC household, then of course the next time they spawn they will be put into the NPC household again. As they are classed as NPC's they follow the same rules, that is they can take part in what the game calls a "MetaAutonomy" situation, which basically means "turn up at a community lot to make up the numbers" as they don't have a home, they wander aimlessly.

It's not really weird, it's just poor coding, as Ghosts don't have a home, they get put into NPC household (as you can't play them) which of course don't really have a home it's just a convenient label. Unfortunately as ghost's are just normal Sim's with a weird skintone they follow the same rules of Sim's, hence the car's etc.

Hi everybody :bunny:

I was thinking about a new rule (only for couple).. What do you think of this?

-You'll have to move at your partner's home (it can be funny if he/she's already living in a little cottage with a large family).. If your heir has sisters and brothers who are not YA yet, you'll have to wait they become YA to marry and join your partner. You can move your partner's family but if your new home has toddlers, babies, children or teenagesr, you'll have to wait they become YA to move them out of the house... You are allowed to decorate or increase the size of your new house, like you want..

I was thinking about add it in the section A with couple and adoptive couple, or in section E with goals

Yes, in Advanced>Edit in CAS. It does change their genes.
I think a rule having to move into the partner's house could be complicated, if your heir has to wait for their siblings, then they move into a house with babies and children who can't move out, if they don't have enough space to have their own required children, it could ruin your legacy.

That explains my initial difficulties with getting Sacha or Leona to speak to Cleveland, all those chapters ago. The dude popped out of his grave once, then escaped. New update:

Marc crosse-pesse's medical advices were soon followed by new more practical advices on "how to kiss between adults" and "how to make love in bed".. Working together everyday led to a close relationship between Polly and her boss. He was much older than her, but Polly found his grey hair and his wrinkles really attractive. He was married too, to a woman of his age: Odessa Crosse-Pesse. But even if it was an adultery relationship, everything was well..When he wanted to go at Polly's home, Marc used to say to his wife that his job (surgeon)required his presence at the hospital. And Polly's private fence prevented them for being surprised by paparazzis . So neither Odessa, nor any other people in town never knew anything about their adultery relationship

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-1892.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-1892.php)

One night only, Marc had a big fear. A thief had came into the house, when he and Polly were sleeping.. And a cop arrived not long after. Marc got only a few seconds to hide his face.. Everyone in town knew him.. Not only he was a renowed surgeon, but he was too the only 5-star celebrity in town. Fortunately, the cop didn't recognize him and Marc was relieved. He loved his wife so much that he didn't want to cause her any grief.

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-1920.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-1920.php)

Polly continued to progress in her career. She spent nights looking through the telescope to improve her logic skill, and read a lot of medical books. The fact that Marc was her lover too helped a bit
But time passed.. Polly wanted more than an occasional flirt, she was an adult now.. her sisters had already given birth to 3 sons (for Phoebe) and a daughter and a son (for Penny). Polly had no kids. Only a lover who was already happily married and who had no intention to leave his wife..

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-1433.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-1433.php)

Fate helped Polly, since Odessa died soon from disease. Her husband was devastated. Fortunately, he found Polly to give him consolation. A few days later, Polly had managed to engage with him. Her friendly trait of personnality may have helped...

Being engaged with Polly, Marc found that it would be better to wait before the marriage. " You have 2 levels yet before the top of your career, he said to Polly, you must be a renowed surgeon like me because you're born for this job.. But I don't want people to do gossips about us and our engagment. I don't want to be accused to favor you..Once you'll reach the top level on your career, we'll inform people and we will marry"
Polly didn't want to wait but she accepted. Since Odessa's death, she was very close of Marc, almost living in his home with him and his daughter, Laurie. So she was ready to accept everything he wanted. And she had almost reached the top of her career.. So, it was only a question of hours..

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-2081.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-2081.php)

Marc passed away the day before Polly became a renowed surgeon. Polly was sleeping at his home when the grim reaper appared and she didn't even have the time to say goddbye to her fiance.

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-2390.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-2390.php)

Her grief was huge. And even her consecration as the most renowed surgeon in the world, the following day, doesn't relieve her. Marc's death had propelled her to the 5th star celebrity level. But this wasn't sufficient to console her.

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-2518.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-2518.php)

She had suddenly an idea. She didn't want anyone in town to forget Marc, so she decided to buy a park and to dedicate it to Marc's memory. The cost of the park was nearly 59.000 simoleons and it was almost exactly what she had on her bank account.. But nothing was expensive enough for the man she had loved so much. So she bought it .. The landscapers had made a very good job. The sculptures were gorgeous, there was plenty of flowers, a lake with a boat and a place for artists with a few easels. The opening day, the park was already full of people. Polly had taken Marc's tomb at the cemetery and decided to put it in the park, near the main path..

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-2681.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-2681.php)

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-2600.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-2600.php)

Polly stayed all the day in the park, walking around and chatting with the walkers. She even had an occasion to show her talent of doctor, by saving someone's life. The girl was sick, everyone around was screaming, but Polly kept her composure and cured the girl.

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-2650.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-2650.php)

Polly knew at present that she would never find a perfect lover like Marc and decided that, even she was sure to stay alone until the end of her life, she would not let down the idea to have at least 2 kids. She decided to adopt 2 daughters (to balance as there was enough boys in the family).

The first child arrived the following day. Her name is Lauryn. She looks like a boy. She's not pretty at all but have a very interesting face (thanks mastercontroller). She is excited, and have good sense of humor (I have forgotten the last trait). She'll be the heir, as I have rolled for the first child.

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-2762.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-2762.php)

Her goals are: Couple/ Ghost Hunter & Farmer/ 5 kids/ A party to remember/ Half-siblings

The second is Amber, she's virtuoso and good (last trait forgotten too). She's prettiest than her sister. They both have only 1 day of difference in age. So they'll be raised together....

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-2750.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-2750.php)

Phoebe is constantly pregnant with the same guy (Roger Rao) but they don't live together and have a lot of fights and arguments that feed gossips in town. Penny is not stylist anymore. She's now working with Polly at the hospital. She has 2 childrens, a girl: Manuelle, and a boy: Bogan. Anthony is dead now, leaving alone the only son he had had with his wife, Mira (who had passed away before him). So the generation 3 is totally over.

NB: Polly has fulfilled her awesome goal by buying this park. At first, I wanted to make her achieve her logic skill journal challenges.. but it was complicated as I had always problems to invite partners for chess tournaments.. The candidates always refused to come and I discovered that I had to befriend them before. Otherwise they didn't want to come. Tiring! So I let this goal now, even I had already succedeed to learn logic skill to kids durig 20 hours, and found 7 stars by using the telescop. I really love the park, which I download from a talented french creator.

If you roll random traits for the first generation, then you have to give your CAS sims random traits, but you don't have to give their children random traits (unless that is what you roll for generation 2).

That is all store stuff. The jacket is from one of the Loud Fast Clash sets, the wrap skirt is from one of the surf sets (it's supposed to be just swimwear but it is also flagged for everyday wear) and the boots are from either Barnacle Bay or the related buccaneer set.

It was pretty sad, and I'm still not feeling all right with the new town. But I figure by the time Shepard comes of age I will feel more at home.

That annoys me no end. Like the flippers being set for all outfit types. :wtf: I don't mind if someone on here does it, because you can open it up and edit it yourself, but with EA stuff it's just unforgivable.

Oh.. right. Lol. I haven't checked the store in ages.

Those accidents don't annoy me at all. They give me more options! I was trying to design a particular outfit for exercise wear once, only to realize there were no jeans available, just long sweatpants. =(

There is a setting on master controller that unlocks all outfits for all categories in Edit in CAS. I forget what it is right now, but look around for it if you still want your jeans exercise outfit.
I have way too many townies sporting sweater & speedo combos, and those damn flippers for everyday wear.

Thanks, mimi. One good thing about all this is it gave me a story based reason for the Perfect children goal. Usually when I roll that, it's something I do in the background that doesn't become part of the story. Now Ewan has his guilt to drive him to being the perfect Dad and spending so much time reading to his kids, lol.

In fact, I had thought that you would have rerolled a new career for Ewan.. But his new life of daddy-at-home is suitable for him, particularly with this "perfect children" goal.. I'm just afraid you start to bore with him when this goal will be achieved. So re-roll a new career could be allowed in your case, for challengers who have adventurer as first card and don't want to travel.

This is my heir (Lauryn) as teenager, and her little sister (Amber). I also put a picture of the family tree, at present

I've started to know difficulties to find a suitable lover for Lauryn. Most of the youg teenage males at school are her cusins. And the other mens are already YA or Adult. It's a bit stressing because she'll have to find a husband, but I have time to think about it. She wants to live the life of rich and famous (LTW).

Lauryn and Amber are both lovely. I know the difficulty of finding suitable mates, my current two are a child and a toddler, and I'm already worried as several boys have been born in this town and very few girls.
Maybe I will roll again for Ewan's career. Right now he has hands full with the boys, but very soon he won't be as busy.

Update. Martin ages up. Yawn. He may undergo a hairstyle change soon, as his adult ears clip through his hair in a way I don't like.

http://r2simslegacy.blogspot.com/

I only crashed once today. My heir is a stylist and now doing house calls, so I assumed I'd be crashing every other time he tried to take a picture for his portfolio. That hasn't happened, yet... so I'm extremely relieved.

I'm really glad you aren't having a lot of crashes. I've heard of people having problems with the stylist career and crashes (I never had a problem with it, but only ever played one stylist) so I'm glad it's going okay for you.

I will laugh and laugh if Martin and Melody's one allotted child gets elf ears and blue hair.

Unfortunately most hairstyles don't seem to suit him. =( I can eliminate the clipping via a really terrible hat, or a haircut like Arthur's. Given those options, Martin would probably go for the hat...

I don't mind it when the ears look like they're poking up awkwardly through the hair, but I mind it when the hair looks like it's growing out of the ears. *twitch*

Nice update NutsandDolts, There were troubles on the stylist career after Ambitions EP but it seems to be that they had been solved by a patch

Question about couple (marital status): I've a real problem, I don't find any male teenagers for Lauryn. So there are chances that she'll grow into young adult without having found a suitable husband. She has befriended an adult yet but I'm a bit worried that he'll be too old when she'll become YA

So my question is: Am I allowed to introduce teenagers in the neigborood? I would create them in the CAS. and give them random traits to be sure I won't favor any of them.. But believe me, it's much needed lol

severedsolo

mimi is it you can't find any? or are there arent any? if you use master controller you can check the population under "demographics>population" on a computer.

I would try "testingcheatsenabled true" then shift-click the mailbox and "make me know everyone" (or whatever it's called) I think if you can't find any like that then yeah, go ahead and import some. Or wait for Twallans SP to immigrate some new people once the town starts ghosting.

I would really try that as a last resort though, are there not even any young adults she could befriend?

I had this problem myself when I first started playing the challenge, the problem is, that you end up pumping out a lot more kids than everyone else in your town, so eventually you get inbreeding. To offset it, when each generation reaches YA I set Twallan's SP's "Base Number of Children" to however many children my Sim's need to have, which if you bump it up from say 2 to 4, normally ends up with a baby boom.

I've managed to solve my freezing issues, and am finishing my generation 10 legacy, (gonna take a looong time, as he is a vampire) My town is ghosting too, Twallans Story Progression seems to be immigrating families every few days,

hi severedsolo

In fact, there are no available male teenagers in town. The only males are my heir's cusins, so they cannot be lovers (and even if they could, they are so ugly that I would have thought twice before letting my heir date them lol)
I had already checked with the Mastercontroller, and it was disappointing to read that there are only 3 teenagers female and 2 teenagers males available in town (then my heir's cusins)..My heir's sister had met a babysitter at school, but as soon as I invited him at a party, he grows into YA.. And I don't want to date a NPC, they grow into elder too quickly.

So the only option for Lauryn is to marry her friend Zaccharie (who is already married and works in the medical career). I was not ready to break his marriage and his career. And as Lauryn will have to give birth to 5 children, all half-siblings, I would just want Zach to be the father of one of her future children. But I'll have to think seriously to marry them... Only miss 9 days before she becomes YA.

I'm glad to know that you've almost achieved your challenge.. It would be nice to give us a little summary of your family's goals and about the difficulties you met during the challenge :gjob:

EDIT: Another question

- If I find a husband for Lauryn and that there is a big difference of age between them, will my heir have to marry another man, when she'll be a widow (knowing that her husband will die a long time before her).. And I'm wondering too if all her children will have to born under "marital status"

NutsAndDolts
25th Jan 2011, 12:29 PM
The way I understand it, your heir's other half has to be around helping you raise the kids until they've all reached young adult, or they're no longer a couple and it's a state of failure. Sorry you got such a tough roll. =(

severedsolo
25th Jan 2011, 01:28 PM
Personally, I would take the fact that she was part of a couple as a "win" and if he dies he dies *shrug* I don't know, it's not really something i've ever thought about.

this is a very grey area, but I think that as you have "half siblings" you have probably got yourself a loophole there. As only one of the children would have to be the husband's anyway, then it shouldn't matter if he isn't around for the others.

If you don't want to break Zach's marriage, why not "pollinate" her using MC, its Woohoo free, and then he gets to be one of the father's of the children. I can't believe how badly your town is ghosting, are you using EA story progression?

I completely agree, NPC dating is a bad idea anyway, I don't let my Sim's even socialise with NPC's if I can help it, too many bugs.

What I would do, if I were you is rather than seeding your own CAS generated mate into the town (which while not technically against the rules, is a bit naughty) why not "bodysnatch" someone from a different hood?

calisims
25th Jan 2011, 01:47 PM
I've added families to my town, including adding a teenage boy to be the mate of my heir. I don't think it's naughty at all when there aren't any other suitable candidates. I prefer to have my heir marry a born-in-game neighbor, but that doesn't always work. I have my story progression set so the immigration pressure is at zero, because all the Sims that move in are vanilla pudding. I move new non-vanilla families in to keep the town population alive.

I have a new chapter up:

When my family's next heir is born, I plan to snoop around town and force most of the married couples to have a kid as well, and hope for the best. With any luck, the result is at least three or four potential mates to pick from when they all grow up together.

It doesn't always work out because the kid may end up the wrong gender, or a total freak show, but at least with those risks I feel less like a cheater.

calisims
25th Jan 2011, 03:35 PM
Yeah, I do that too. It backfired for Allyson and Roslyn, as all the pregnancies I forced ended up as girls, including the Gentilleschi twins, leaving me with a huge gender balance crisis. When Allyson and Roslyn hit teen, there were a couple of teen boys just days from YA, who already had steady girlfriends. I could have stolen them away, but that would have just created future problems, as I would have all my female neighbors with no one to breed with, and thus no future mates for my future kids. Well, that ended up being a moot point as the crashes forced me to move. I did feel a little cheaty moving in a family with a teen boy, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
My current heir has to be a single parent, so I'm less concerned about the fact that in his generation there is only one extremely ugly girl being passed around between a couple of extremely ugly boys. He doesn't have to find a permanent age appropriate mate, just a couple of women of breeding age to spawn on, lol. Twinbrook is full of freakshow, lol, I might be better off with a vanilla pudding.

25th Jan 2011, 04:43 PM
thanks everybody for your advices. Severedsolo, I use Twallan's SP of course, but I think there is shortage of males at first in Barnacle, and the game needs time to balance people's genders in town, which could explain the difficulties Calisims and myself have met to find husbands..

I won't pollinate Lauryn with other male's sperm, cause it's a bit like cheating for me and above all it won't be suitable to my story. I think I'll buy Lauryn the reward which prevent other sims from rejecting love interactions (a reward of LN).. So it'll be easier for her to have short relationships (and babies) with mens..

But I'm relieved to know that my heir won't have to marry again even if she become widow soon, and I'll chose the easier option: to marry Zaccharie.

Calisims, I like your new update and I'm glad you choose to give a new career to Ewan. Congratulations for achieving this "perfect child" goal (I can't imagine I could have it, it would be really exhausting and stressing I think..).. I like Wyoming's face (I suggest Dakota for the next girl in your family  ).It's a pity that he is not your heir particularly because his face and hair color are differents of your previous heir's ones.. Shepard has a more typical "mac dermott"'s face and looks like his father and grand-father..

Bob Sargeant of Twinbrook passed on his horse-like face to his granddaughters in my town. They're teens now... it's pretty bad. x.x

I may import some families to combat the ugly in my town, but not allow their spawn to breed into the family until at least two or three generations have passed. I dunno. Just some ideas. The gene pool is getting pretty small. A few extra people have moved in on their own, so I've randomized their features, but they've tended not to breed, just hop from one romance to another. That's kind of frustrating.

You're thinking of Juan Darer. He's not allowed to breed ever, with anything or anybody. Ever.
Bob Sargeant is one of the less hideous people in Twinbrook, but that's not saying much. I usually move my own breeding couples in to mix up the gene pool, and don't marry them into my own family right off. But I do think it's okay in situations where you can't find an appropriate mate to create one.
Sometimes I force breed Sims who aren't contributing to the gene pool, lol. If you are going to live in my town, you WILL have children. Unless you are really ugly, then it's okay to stay childless, lol.

You're thinking of Juan Darer. He's not allowed to breed ever, with anything or anybody. Ever.

:rofl:So no chance to see Shepard marry one of Juan's daughters? I'm really disappointed  .. But I think it'll be a real challenge to find mates for your heirs in Twinbrook.. maybe 3 generations will be sufficient to dilute the ugly genes. So, I am looking forward to see what will be you future heir's genes

Finally, I found a suitable mate for Lauryn. She was going at school when suddenly, the wish to kiss her sister's boyfriend, Melvyn Lai, appeared. Poor girl, she was so desperated to be bachelor yet, that even stealing her sister and best friend's boyfriend suddenly did not seem so evil. Melvyn is a bit younger that Lauryn (at least of 6 days). Moreover I find him really ininteresting, his face is boring and he has not really good traits. So I let Amber date him.. But with no mates at all for my heir, I had reconsidered Melvyn's features and found he would have been better than nothing.

So, after school, Amber was working and I sent Lauryn to the beach, in order she dates her sister's boyfriend. I was thinking about the huge argument it would create between the two sisters, and the fact that they would not be best friends anymore after this betrayal. Fortunately, while she was waiting melvyn's arrival, a young man came to the place. I used Mastercontroller to check him and found that he was a YA far from adult stage. He lives in the neighborood and is not one of this boring NPC.. He's not so handsome but his face is cute..His name is Sydney

I just jumped on this opportunity, and Lauryn is now one of his best friend. Unfortunately, Twallan's SP is quick to find mates to bachelors, and Sydney had already a partner when my heir met him. One day later, the game informed me that his fiance was pregnant, so I used Mastercontroller to make her abort. I don't want him to have children when he'll have to move in Lauryn's home..

Here's Sydney

Here's Melvyn in the first plan (No comparison. Sydney is much better and I think I've found my heir's mate).. Meylvyn was wondering at this time why his girlfirend's sister has invited him to the beach, as she didn't even noticed that he was there...

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-3350.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-3350.php)

I would want to hire a butler.. Lauryn has grown into YA, and the "no strangers" constraint is over.. So now that strangers are allowed, a butler would be nice, particularly to help raising the future 5 childrens.

The only trouble is that I had bugs on butlers in the first family I played in Bridgeport. The butler came, cooked, almost never slept and left 2 or 3 days later. All my attempts to keep butlers in the house had failed. So, as I haven't installed the last patch yet, I wanted to know if someone has experienced butlers since the patch, and if there are always the same bugs on them. I know by reading the list of bugs removed by the patch that butlers were not included in it.. I had read somewhere that butlers don't like eletric gates or elevators, and that is the reason why they leave the house and never come back..

So I might have over looked this somewhere, but when you roll perfect careers for the heir and spouse, does it still apply if your spouse is a part timer?

I feel like I've read reroll somewhere (although I didn't see it in the new rules, but who knows what rules I was looking at when I copied this down).
Technically you can get to the top of it. However, it's not level 10 and there's no skills attached.

Thanks for your help guys. I keep extensive records of my legacy in a notebook (I'm lame like that). So I wrote down Perfect Careers first then crossed it out because I thought I had to reroll, so I rerolled perfect children. I'll probably stick with Perfect Careers then because I've probably skimmed on the rules elsewhere, and it's not like they need any extra money. I'll probably still work on perfect children since I already drew out a table to record information.

Liadegrecia, I had a legacy crash horribly after gen 5. I was devastated. When I started my new one, I started backing up my files like crazy (I have probably two backups per generation) in addition to saving semi-regularly. Always nice when you get in a bad spot, and at least you aren't back to square one.

You can buy one of the cameras from WA. You might need some photography skill to be able to shoot larger pictures even with the camera. I stopped caring about the portfolio ages ago, the quality of the images makes no difference. You can go for that tight focus and consider it a fabric swatch sample or something.

I'm so gonna give this a try. It sounds like fun. Just got two questions:
If gen X rolls an artist, can I sell paintings as soon as he's born or do I wait till he's YA?
Can teens get jobs even if it's not one of the income sources?
Feel free to P&L if those have been answered before or are obvious.

Assuming you rolled the Artist for income, then Gen X can sell paintings as soon as they become a YA and continue until the next generation become a YA.

I've seen teen jobs debated, but I don't think we've settled on anything. As for me, sometimes my teens get jobs.. sometimes they don't. It depends on if they want it or not and if I feel like dealing with it.

NutsAndDolt's you need to buy a decent camera. If your Sim doesn't have a camera in their inventory they use their cellphone camera. (you can usually get one from the consignment store if you don't want to travel)

severedsolo

Teen jobs are fine, as long as you haven't rolled "Deadbeat Parents" you have to make your Sim's get one with "Perfect Children" anyway. I personally don't bother with them, but if you want to then go for it. They will have to quit to pursue their "proper" career when they become YA though.

Re: Artist, I would say that they can only sell paintings when they are capable of producing them, so for Artist then that would be Child. I personally make my Sim's enter their chosen career when their teenagers if it's skill based.

UPDATE: Minor update to the rules, nothing major, just changed "Fufilled" a little bit, and added a proviso to re-roll "Change of Scenery" if Generation 1.

I allow my elders to continue at their jobs, even when the next generation (their heir) has reached YA. I didn't realize it was a no-no. Though I guess it makes sense if it is.

Edit: Thanks calisims! I didn't realize Martin didn't have a camera in his inventory. Taking pictures with the best cameras tend to make my game freeze, so I'll proceed with caution.

27th Jan 2011, 09:47 PM
I've also had my elders continue with their jobs if I felt like when the next generation takes over. I don't think that's against the rules. In some case you might need to fulfill a requirement like perfect careers or fulfilled (if your Sim's LTW is to reach top of career), especially if you are playing a female with standard EA maternity leave and roll 3 or more kids. And the self-employed profession require you sell huge amounts. My sculptor only achieved level 10 of his career a few days before he died of old age. The same was true for Katryn in the original thread, she had an Angler career Sim who had Perfect Careers and it took until a few days before death to sell enough fish.
If I roll artist I definitely sell them as soon as they are painted starting in the child stage. The most annoying thing about this challenge for me in the constant inventory clogging of things Sims make or find but can't sell.
I try to get rid of it by shoving into a sibling's inventory before they move out, but every generation piles up more inventory clutter. Bleh!
So if I have a career related opportunity to sell stuff, off it goes!

My genius sim keeps trying to contemplate objects, then screaming that he can't get to them. He's done this on several different lots. Anyone else experience this? I don't know what he wants to look at, and it's weird that it happens on other lots as well.

Also, why can my sim practice a speech in front of a mirror behind one sink, but not a mirror behind a different sink? Does it matter that one is a sink over a counter, and another is the sink of despair? Seems a bit silly!

I can't say I've ever had that problem with trying to contemplate objects.
I'm guessing that it's the counter getting in the way of practicing speech. I can't say for sure, as I rarely use mirrors to skill charisma, I usually just skill that through socialization.
I'm looking forward to your heir's future parties, lol.

Great chapter! I enjoyed it a lot.

Maybe I should try breeding some police-people into my legacy, lol.

Since I got another single parent roll, I also considered maids... because I've never tried out their special no messes genetic ability. But I worry it would be too cheater-y.

calisims

I don't think using maids for spawning/spouses is cheaterly. I'm considering it myself for Shepard, since he is single parent (and no longer has to live by the no strangers rule), but I haven't decided yet what will happen with him. He's not going to have a lot of options as it is, and he has to father 2 kids somehow, lol, so I'm considering everything.
I've had the no messes trait before and I never noticed any effect. But then everything in my house was self-cleaning by the time I got that trait in the family.
I love the 'can apprehend burglars'. I also love the pyromaniac trait you can get from firefighters.

Nice updates :gjob: ... Calisims, I’m stunned to see that you’ve difficulties to find mates in Twinbrook. It seemed to me that there were a few kids in this town, which would have allowed your sims to date them, as soon as they would become teens.
I’ve great difficulties too. Fortunately I succeeded to marry Lauryn and Amber, but I’ve noticed that their cusins are not so lucky. Phoebe’s childrens are all bachelors, except for the eldest son, which is not far from being adult and has a girlfriend (a elder I think). Penny’s children are all bachelors too.
Lauryn has given birth to her first child: Dean. He’s my heir as I‘ve rolled for the first born in the family. His goals are: single parent/ 3 kids/ professional sport career/ 5star celebrity/ Homemade. I’ll put photos later. He will have to be followed by 4 illegitimate brothers or sisters.

I’ve hired a butler. He’s perfect and this time I haven’t got all the bugs I had in Bridgeport. He cooks, makes the beds, cleans up the house, and even find time to use the hotub and the pool.

Calisims, I would want to know how you did to add the babysitter to your neighbourhood. It’s an option who could be interesting, when I’ll have shortage of teens in my town. In fact, you give me some new ideas with NPC too. It’s true that single parents can be a hard goal, particulary when this single parent is a male. So, maids or babysitters can help in these cases. The only thing I’m wondering is if it’ll be possible to induce pregnancies on maids and move them in the house. I don’t know if it’s a possibility, even with Mastercontroller enabled...I also thought that NPC were able to grow in age normally with Twallan's mods, but it doesn't seem to be the case...

Aww, Jazz...sobs. I loved Jazz.
Martin's new hair (the combed back one) looks good.
And I have something for Melody, to help allay her fears about Paprika's ears:

Chase Bayless
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n145/yangthecat/Risk%20Legacy/bayless2.jpg
Tay Bayless
Both of these monsters have bred! Not with each other, though with the Bayless family you get the idea that that is a possibility. So, let Melody know, it could be worse, Much, much worse.

Chase and Tay are hilarious. I don't think I'd have had the heart to kick them out of my town, either. =P

When I changed Paprika's hair, I noticed she got her mother's ears. =)

Mimi, I'm not sure if you can move maids in using normal means or not. If I had my heart set on one, I'd find a way though, lol.

mimi, there were a few kids in Twinbrook when I moved in, but the ages didn't match up so well, Shepard was a toddler when we moved in, and the kids here were already children. Even Bunny Curious, who was a toddler, aged up days before Shepard. Because Shepard had to have the job after school, I was dependent on him meeting girls at school, but he mostly met boys. He didn't get to meet Emerald Greenwood until the day before she aged up. And story progression had hooked up the few girls that were in town with the other boys pretty quickly.

Wyoming was born in town, so the kids already in the neighborhood were too old for him, and more boys were born around the same time as him than girls.
Right now I have a few more girls aged up to teen, but Shepard is a YA.
I used master controller to move the babysitter into the Pidgin house. Just click on the house and choose add Sim, then choose the Sim you want to move in. She loses her joob as babysitter and becomes a regular resident teen. I got her right after the game spawned her, so she will have the normal amount of teen days.
I think it is possible to move maids in normally. First you develop a friendship, then invite them over as guests (or ask them to hang around after work), then you can invite them to move in. I think so, anyway. They lose their jobs as maids when moved in.

Cool, flanah. ^.^ I'll definitely be reading.

I'm starting to suspect that the stylist thing screws up ages. =( Melody is a whopping twelve days younger than Martin, when she should only be two. I used MasterController to make her older, because I think Martin's age is the correct one. Hopefully I haven't been unknowingly harming my neighbors, or my own sims using both Martin's career and the mastercontroller stylist. x.x

I only tried doing the band thing once, and it was totally fail. I remember complaining to my husband that I never got any gigs and my stupid bandmates never showed up for practice. He laughed and said it sounded realistic to him (he'd been in bands since he was a teenager, so he is jaded, lol). But seriously, everything I've read about Sim bands is they suck if you don't have them all living together. In my one attempt at a band, I never got a single gig offer and most of the time my bandmates wouldn't show up for practice.

mimi250

I used Mastercontroller to have opportunities for my band.. otherwise, it would have been really boring. Late night introduced a big issue on opportunities, skills opportunities are very rare, and celebrity opportunities are too frequent... the game system on opportunities is not well-balanced anymore. So use Mastercontroller if you want your band to have gigs.

Shepard's story, generation 5

I finally married Lauryn to Sidney, the guy she had met when she was trying to steal her sister's boyfriend. Sidney is a good guy, he was a bit older than I thought, but he has good traits.
They married at the Grinder, with all their family and friends. The same night, Amber became YA and left the house the next morning.

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-3740.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-3740.php)

Lauryn found a job as ghosthunter. Sidney wanted to become a politician, but with a renowed surgeon as stepmother, a 4 star celebrity wife and so much paparazzi always walking along the property, the pressure would have been too high.. Sidney choose to keep a private life and went to register himself as an independant farmer at the city hall. He loves the outdoors so it wasn't really a big sacrifice for him

Lauryn fell pregnant the day following the wedding. She gave birth to a son, Dean... Dean is my heir, he's athletic and heavy sleeper. He has inherited of his father's family blond hair (even if his father has dark hair)..

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-4160.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-4160.php)

Lauryn is not really a housewife. Sidney has taken his part of their new life, and Lauryn began to bore beside him. Her husband takes his new job of farmer seriously and spend almost all the day learning all the technics farmers needs to know to grow high quality fruits and vegetables

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-3981.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-3981.php)

Lauryn: "Would you want us to go to the diving bar this afternoon, my dear?"

Sidney "Please, wait a minute, I am at the point to know exactly how to get plums in the garden.. you know, sweetie, these exotics plants are so difficult to grow in our country"

Lauryn began to concern seriously about her future, but she had a lot of friends around the town, who would be very happy to have a call from a celebrity like her. She had met a guy at a diving bar when she was just a newlywed. His name is Said Cotier. They had spent a large of part of the night talking about their life and their dreams.... The attraction was real, and feeling alone with her husband always plunged in his gardening books, Lauryn fell quickly pregnant from her new lover.

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-4002.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-4002.php)

Lauryn has had a girl: Mandy.. She's athletic and perceptive

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-4370.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-4370.php)

After the adultery, I had to manage with rumors spreading around the town. The couple's relationship had decreased a lot and it was hard to improve it. So, to prevent this, I bought the "no jalousy" aspiration reward.. So, Sidney totally trust his wife now and is not subject to jalousy anymore.

I bought the "master of seduction" lifetime reward too, to make things easier between Lauryn and her future lovers (no need to push relationship to high degrees to have sexual relations, which is exactly what I need for Lauryn)

After Mandy's birth, Lauryn got a bit depressed. She was so young and had already 2 childrens. She wanted to enjoy her youthful, and the last thing she wanted was to stay at home nursing babies. So, after work, she called her old friend Zaccharie Binsson and they spent the entire night dancing at the Grinder. The night was hot, the club full of people, there was flood of alcohol. The next morning, the only thing she was able to remind was the arms of Zaccharies around her shoulders and the dark corner of the club where he had managed to push her..

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-4290.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-4290.php)

The next day, she was pregnant... So, at present Lauryn is waiting her third child. I know by advance that the baby will be a boy (thanks to her surgeon mother). I'll call him Brad or Adam

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-4360.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-4360.php)

I don't really appreciate to play with so many sims in the same time, but I didn't want to have big differences of age between the childrens. I don't want my heir to become YA while his fifth brother or sister would not even be born. So I did the choice to have very close and repetitive pregnancies. So my heir won't have to stand little sisters or brothers while starting his own life.

My butler (Fabien) died by accident. He was trying to repair the hotub, when he was electrocuted.. He tried a second time and was electrocuted again. This time, it was fatal ... grim reaper went to take him. Nobody cried in the family, even if Fabien was really appreciated.. He was a very good butler, only his big addiction for the wonderful cocktails Polly prepared sometimes could be disturbing for his job. He was always the first to arrive behing the bar to taste the drinks, giving his opinion by a large smile and sparkling stars in the eyes.. I'll miss him

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-4460.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-4460.php)

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-4390.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-4390.php)

But NPC are all replacable, and I've already engaged a new butler. I changed a bit his face by using Mastercontroller

I just started my legacy, but my game is unbelievably laggy, beyond actual gameplay, so any screenshots or otherwise progression will have to wait. :P

I did roll for my first generation though, and what I came up with was pretty intriguing. My first generation will be a couple with one child, but I started with a male sim living alone, at the moment. He can only make money through "artsy" things, like painting or sculpting. He also moonlights as a Mixologist. The Gen Goal is "fulfilled." Actually, I think the fact that his stats were so cool and easy to work with made me actually want to START a legacy. I rarely have the patience for legacies. :P

If your sim is an artist, he cannot be mixologist in the same time. He can only increase the skill if he wants, and accept opportunities.. but you mustn't send him in clubs by yourself.. Mixologist and artist are different careers. If you roll for one you cannot have the second

NutsAndDolts love the entry, it was well played.

Vampirism is currently running rampant through my neighborhood. I'm okay with it... just not in my legacy neighborhood. And the whole town is being over ran with it. I've been trying to hold off on installing anything to combat it until I finish this legacy, but vampirism is starting to become an issue. I might check out this MasterController.

NutsAndDolts

I think it was Twallan's Story Progession mod that turned off the vampire thing. With EA story progression, my town became infested with vampires within days, which is where the few vampire families in my legacy neighborhood came from. Lorraine Cantina, Roxie Lin, some random vanilla guy and a few of the Ivanovs were the only lasting "victims" since the others were old people.

MasterController will give you the option to turn off the vampirism of every vampire you manage to hunt down. But it won't stop EA story progression from giving you more. =(

If you don't want a full story progression mod, search for Shimrod101 in the creators here at MTS, he has a mod just to stop the vampire & celebrity influxes. But I love the story progression, it helps in so many ways

I did the luxury requirement, mimi. It went very well. In my case because I knew I had that roll when I moved the family into that house, I purposefully left the original furniture so I could replace it when Shepard grew up. The only problems I could foresee with this rule is if someone rolls it very late in the legacy and they have already upgraded everything in their house. I guess we could add something to the rule like 'if you already have all the highest quality furniture in every room, buy $30,000 worth of decorations for the house or yard, or buy an expensive new car' or something. I just threw 30k as a figure out there, we can discuss how much would be fair. I think I spent around 30k on my makeover, which included redoing the floors (not required, but I wanted new floors, lol).

Lol, great timing on Shadow's ghost's part. I remember Lilly-Bo from my short time in Bridgeport... her outfits really are unforgettable. =P

I'm usually not a fan of the absolute best item in every category, but I don't fear the roll. I have a lot of rooms in the house so I'd just pick one to makeover. And if I really hated it, I could change it when the next generation ages up.

Nice update, Calisims. Shepard is really handsome and I love his Master suite and the new living room.. I had thought about this inconvenience when I uploaded the Luxury rule. It's the reason why I had added "Furnish any room with.." which means that players had to choose one room and decorate it in the way they wanted, in the highest quality part of the buymode. But you're right, if someone rolled "luxury" more than 3 times for instance, and live in a small house, it could be hard to find something to change. So I am agree to add something about an expensive car or 30.000 simoleons of decorations (I like this idea).. So no problem to update the luxury goal, for me...

I would recommend not using a "normal" random number generator, as they aren't really random. This site: http://www.random.org/integers/ is a good one, as it used atmospheric conditions as a variable, resulting in true random numbers.

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
Ugh, got such a boring roll.
Do you get to reroll for the next generation though? Pleasssse be so, because I got a single bio mom, with one child, with author career (which I've done like 3 times already), awesome! (so I'm planning on my big goal to be to write 5 novels for all of the genres! That's a bit fun), and one tattoo per week.
Maybe she'll be a prostitute, have a baby with the first john, then just do the woo-hoo with the rest. I'll do one katching (Well, that's not allowed by the rules...but it works with my concept *sulks*) per woo-hoo session, which she'll do once a week after her tattoo. Maybe I'll just do that ten times to do the heartbreaker thing?

calisims
1st Feb 2011, 01:46 AM
Yes, you do reroll for every generation. Roll when the first child is born (or before the birth) because some rules like random traits need to start right away. Others don't start until the heir is YA.
Technically making your Sim a prostitute is the same as giving her a second career, which is not allowed in the rules of this challenge. Your Sims are not supposed to make any income except from what they get from the job they rolled, and from opportunities. You can have your Sim have sex with whoever you want, but you shouldn't pay her for it.

CinderEmma
1st Feb 2011, 02:47 AM
Bleh, maybe I'll do that for another family then. Still a fun idea :)
Can you take away more money then you spend on something? Since it's not like a second career?
I love the rerolling! This will be much more interesting then 10 generations of single moms/dads with one baby. I love huge sim families :)

NutsAndDolts
1st Feb 2011, 03:07 AM
Ten generations of the exact same roll would be a weird challenge. xD

Calisims, may I ask what settings you have on story progression? Sometimes it seems like the sims in my town just don't feel like breeding. They constantly get in romantic relationships, but marriage or children seems rarer.

calisims
1st Feb 2011, 04:05 AM
ebec, I'm not sure what you mean by take away more than you spend. But anything that is counted as a career in the careers list, including collecting things like gems and insects to sell, is forbidden unless it is your rolled career. So, unless you rolled an artist, you can't sell your paintings. But you can do any opportunities that come up, including ones for turning in your paintings or grown vegetables, etc for money.

NutsAndDolts, I have my story progression set at default settings for pregnancies. I use master controller to impregnate couples that aren't breeding fast enough to please me.
I also use default setting for marriages. I do notice that some partnered couples stay in a weird stasis where they get hooked up as boyfriend/girlfriend and never progress. Sometimes I track those down and use master controller to increase their relationship value to a higher value (usually it's down in the 30 or 40 range, not enough to get married). Then what usually happens is they'll get married, or break up. The breaking up is weird, it's like, 'Oh hey, I suddenly have a high relationship score with you, and I never want to see you again.' But that at least frees them up to get in other relationships that might work out better.
You could lower the marriage liking gate to make marriages happen at a lower relationship level, but my fear is that would just cause divorces. I don't know that for sure.

CinderEmma
1st Feb 2011, 05:07 AM
I meant like to reduce income, like if you imagined the person had a secret addiction or something, then you would take a certain amount away. I just am bored with this part of the challenge, so I'm trying to spice it up. I'm doing my new roll soon though, as the baby is coming any minute!
Oh my goodness, so many babies in my neighbourhoods XD I love Twallan's SP!

Kinda means I bombed out first go... but I will def try again if that is the case!

megsie.. the "no strangers" rules allows you to adopt.. otherwise it would have been impossible to achieve the challenge goals.

I've achieved my challenge goal to have 5 childrens, all half-siblings. By order:

-Dean (my heir) the only legitimate kid, Mandy (kid of Lauryn and a guy she had met in a bar), Brad (Lauryn and one of her best friend), Adam (Lauryn and the butler), Darren (Lauryn and her sister's husband) :jest:

Lauryn and her second butler.. She fell in love with his divine massages.. How could she resist when her husband was only worried about the babies?

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-4680.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-4680.php)

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-4760.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-4760.php)

After Adam's birth, Lauryn dismissed the butler. She wanted to save her marriage and wasn't ready to live with her husband and her lover in the same house.

After all these adulteries, and all these gossips on her, Lauryn found her alone. Her marriage was almost broken and her children didn't like her (all gossips in town were resented too by the childrens, and the relationships they had with ther mother decreased too) So Lauryn tried to retie her relationship with her sister. Amber was too busy with her guitar and her musical career to take care of her sister's grief.. but Lauryn found Melyvn more sympathetic. He was an handsome man, much more than he had been when he was a teenager. Being fond of art, Melvyn led his sister-in-law to the art gallery..In the car, they talked a lot about their life.

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-4950.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-4950.php)

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-497.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-497.php)

" Do you know that I wanted to go out with you when we were teenagers, admitted Lauryn blushing"
"I was attracted too, replied Melvyn, but I was sure you was not interested by me."

"Sure I was, and now you're married with my sister, and me with Sidney who don't love me anymore... What would have been our life if we had been together as teenagers"

Such confidences led to a closer relationship. Lauryn was pregnant soon from her brother-in-law. She gave birth to Darren, her last child..

I was happy to achieve the chidren goal.. 5 childrens is hard to play. At present, I have 1 teenager, 1 child, 2 toddlers and a baby. And Lauryn is at the point to become adult..

Here's Dean, my heir, as teenager.. I was not happy with his face, so I installed the same skins than Calisims. the new skins improves his face I think, by making it more realistic

http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/deanado.jpg (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/deanado.php)

The multiples adulteries of lauryn have decreased a lot her relationship with her husband (even with the "no jalousy" reward).. their relationship is very low and there are not love anymore. To achieve this generation, I'll have to do a party (a party to remember).

Polly died no longer after Brad's birth. She was buried near her lover's tomb (Marc Crosse-Presse). I was stunned to discover a new interaction that seems to be only for ghost hunter (to calm ghosts)

NutsandDolt's, I find a good rule of thumb with Twallan's SP is when my heir ages up to YA I set the "Base Number of Children" to however many children my Sim's have to have that generation, otherwise if you have it set to a low number like say 2 (which in theory, should have your population remain at a steady rate) and you have 2 or 3 rolls of 3-5 children, your legacy ends up taking over the town.

I find that when you bump the number up, SP goes into overdrive, and starts pumping out babies like there is no tomorrow to play catch up. It works for me anyway, otherwise I end up with 70-80% of the town being descended from my legacy at some point.

I also don't marry the spares if I roll "single parent" I let SP find partners for them. (otherwise your Sim's have a headstart in baby making as they don't have to be hooked up and get the relationship up first)

Having said that, I find that at around about generation 4-5 the town reaches what I call "genetic stagnation" where SP is struggling to find partners for people who aren't already related. This is unfortunately what happens when you have a "gated" community, eventually everyone becomes related to everyone else, SP normally then immigrates a couple of families, and it's all good again.

I have almost everything on my SP, because I LOVE having lots of babies in my neighbourhoods :)

There's no rule against taking away funds, so you can do that, sure.

Wow, mimi, 5 half-siblings is quite an achievement. I hate the way all the scandals make you lose your friends when your Sim has celebrity status. Lauryn must be having a very tough time of it with 5 affairs and 4 children not by her husband.

severedsolo
1st Feb 2011, 01:01 PM
Yeah, I hate the scandal system, I was trying to figure out why on earth Sim's I had never even met hated my Adventurer sim, its because she passed out a few times in a tomb, and despite noone being around, somehow the story got out.

I just sue for slander, its a nice money earner and clears the moodlet instantly, The game doesn't care whether you actually did it or not, you have a base 60% chance of winning, so I have modded it to 80% to give me a better chance, its not cheating if the system is fundamentally flawed to start off with lol.

calisims
1st Feb 2011, 01:15 PM
I've only won once when suing, so I usually pay off the paparazzi which works 100% of the time. At this point in the game, I'm so rich I don't care about money, lol. But that doesn't repair the broken relationships, sad to say.
I am having a fun time with it this generation as my scandalous celebrity is a politician. He runs around with all kinds of women, the public boos him on the street, but they keep electing him to office. Just like real life, lol.

A quick question. If you had an active family you created before you started the Legacy, can you marry those Sims kids or not?

I got adoptive couple, 2 kids, Movie (Film Star), Ghost Hunting, living green, and born with it. I thought Eco-Living would be harder, but my Sims' fun never seems to fall below the half-way mark, even after I salvaged a book case and bought some fun books.

You can find me at this thread (http://forums.dragonflycave.com/showthread.php?t=11944).

And this is my most recent half update. (http://forums.dragonflycave.com/showpost.php?p=464577&postcount=2)

I don't see anything in the rules against marrying whomever. My third generation heir did something similar, actually.

But if your spouse has a lot of skills because you were controlling them previously, you might want to consider wiping the skills with a mod before moving them in with your legacy family.

Ketsu_sama

They wouldn't, the Sims are married and their kids were toddlers and babies when I switched out. Besides, I wasn't planning to this generation.

a question ,

I have 3 kids 2 of them is young adults so I moved the one thats not the heiress m the 3rd kid is a teen do I really have to play this generation rules till he ages or can I start playing the new rules with him living there ...

meaning should I stop throwing a party weekly and start getting a tattoo or should I wait for the teen to age ?

calisims
1st Feb 2011, 03:55 PM
When the heir takes over, the new rules apply even if there is still a younger sibling. Though if you had perfect children for the previous generation, the younger sibling would still have to complete that, or if you had to have random traits, the teen still would have to get a random trait when reaching YA. But rules like the party every week etc., change when the heir takes over.

I think it's time to start compiling February's list of proposed updates :)

Here is what I have so far:

Firstly, I am bored of Sim's dying of old age, therefore I propose:
Marital Structure: Goldigger - Your Sim must marry a spouse from a wealthy background, (the game must classify them as "rich") once they have fathered/borne your heir's children then, you kill them off, any way you like. (Building Walls around swimming pools, disappearing door accidents etc. are all allowed, or if you aren't feeling cruel, just marry someone old and wait for the inevitable.)

Generation Goal:
"Floozy/Lothario" - Woohoo with 10(?) different Sim's (alternatively, Woohoo with a different Sim each week... haven't quite decided yet)

Misc Fun: (shamelessly borrowed from Katryn on the other thread) It's just so YOU! - At YA, remake every room in the house to match the favorites and traits of every member of the household. Bedrooms match the room's owner (in the case of shared rooms, use both/all colors and traits. Find a nice combo.) Other rooms are to match for those who use them the most, or for the heir and his/her spouse, if applicable.

thoughts? suggestions?

CinderEmma

I like all of the suggestions, especially the Floozy/Lothario one XD

NutsAndDolts
1st Feb 2011, 08:16 PM
I think gold-digger would actually be a bit silly considering most legacy families are themselves rich by the third generation. And with game mechanics, you don't actually get more wealthy by moving in a rich person, do you? Unless they were the only person left in their house I guess. I don't know. I haven't played enough with it.

Maybe, for different ghost flavors, all children except the heir must die as teens (after completing perfect children if necessary) ... except I'd probably use MasterController to engineer death rather than the weird building walls, and that would be cheating... and also it sounds way evil and horrible let's forget I said anything LoL. x.x

As for Floozy... well... not to be a total prude, but that's basically every single other challenge on this site, in a nutshell. o.O

Yeesh, I feel so negative. x.x Sorry.

 To be perfectly honest, I was going through the list of LTW's for inspiration, as I tend to base my Sim's LTW on the challenge rolls, the 2 that stood out as not having any sort of base in the challenge were Gold Digger and the new LN one, Woohoo in 5 different places (forgotten the name now)

Yes, even if the wealthy Sim is the only one on his lot, he still doesn't bring in the total wealth of what that lot is worth, so there isn't much point to the gold digger.
I'd really only be interested in the last on one the list, matching the decor to the Sims' favorites.
As NutsAndDolts said, the town floozy and black widow challenges are pretty common around here. I was attracted to this challenge because it didn't have that kind of lulzsimurder!! lulzsimslut!! thing going on.

Goodbye Sasha and Wyoming.. I like your updates :gjob: . I 've a lot of fun by reading your blogs. I'll think seriously to create a blog the next time, even if my english isn't perfect.

Calisims, you gave me a new idea to have babies for single parent without having to move their mothers. Dean will have to be father of 3 kids so it was already annoying for me to think about moving unwanted women in the household. But thanks to you, I know how to do now..

Ann is also beautiful. But I think she'll grow in age faster than Shepard, because it's the case for all NPC in the game. There's a chance too that she will be replaced by another sim the next time Shepard will go to the bar. I am looking forward your next update.

calisims
2nd Feb 2011, 04:00 PM
Thanks, mimi. I've already taken steps to ensure that Anne doesn't suddenly skip town on me, but there will be more about that in coming updates.
As for moving in the mothers temporarily when you have a single parent dad, I just don't think it works for the story all the time. The drawback to moving in the babies after birth is that you don't get to pick the two starting traits. Also, be aware there can be aging discrepancies. I moved Oregon in as soon as I got the birth notice pop up, and she was already at two days to age up. I did the same for the next child, who had the full three days before aging up. But for me it is worth it to not have to move the mothers around when they are happy where they are.
I would love it if you made a blog for your legacies. Your English is definitely good enough for it.

Thank you :luff: , but I don't think I'll make a blog in this legacy. I'd have prefer to start the challenge directly with the blog. Maybe the next time, for sure..

Great "second" update.. I don't know exactly where you're going with Shepard, since he'll have to stay alone  .. but I'm curious to know how his love story with Ann will end. I like Oregon's hair color too..

I'm definitely happy with moonlight's skins. My sims' s faces are really nice, I was afraid to see a strange effect in my game with these skins, but not at all.

I like the gold digger and Misc fun. "Gold digger" would be a nice way to test the different kinds of death in the game, particularly for those who use the mastercontroller (I 've never had death by meterorit, I'll be so happy to test it with the "gold digger" goal  ).... I'm not really fond of the Floozy/lothario's one. I didn't like this LTW in sims2 yet.. our sims spend all their free time finding new partners and it's a bit stressing.. But if everyone's agree, I'm agree to try

I think we would try to have a way of vote for all the new rules proposed on this topic.. I don't know how to do it, but I know it's possible to vote on a blog. If someone knows how to do, we could introduce a vote on the "random legacy" blog.. it may be a simple question "Do you want this new rule "Floozy/lothario""? for instance.. Vote yes or no. Or something like that..

Otherwise, it could be on this topic. Severedsolo could update the first post and update all the new rules. We would have only to reply on the topic if we're agree or not. :mod:

severedsolo
3rd Feb 2011, 11:39 AM
I think it's a given that Floozy is out, it hasn't gone down well and frankly, I wasn't that happy with it myself.

I like the vote system, how it would work in practice is another matter. A viable option would be to drop the "Optional Rule" section of the blog, (as it only has one thing in it anyway) and use that for a vote, leaving the options open for say, 2 weeks, and people simply comment yes or no to each rule. We admins can delete the comments afterwards, so it doesn't get confusing.

calisims
3rd Feb 2011, 12:52 PM
I like idea of voting on new rules.
We can put that one optional rule in the regular rules section, at the bottom as and optional rule.

NutsAndDolts
3rd Feb 2011, 01:03 PM
That's a great idea in theory. But simply saying "yes" or "no" prevents discussion that could make the proposed rules better.

For example: since moving in a rich sim has no advantage in-game over moving in a poor sim, those who are saying they like the gold-digger thing (so far) seem to like the sound of the killing sims part, rather than the pretend gold-digging. If sim murder is really something we want to promote in this challenge, I'd suggest leaving the rule open-ended as to who dies and why (as in, just someone in the family has to bite it in a non-old-age way before that generation is over). And also perhaps the option to re-roll, free of "charge," if one has rolled this previously in the legacy.

I mean, sometimes you get perfect children three times a row. Rolling "death" three times in a row would make for some very depressing blogs. ^.^'

Err... I hope that doesn't sound too, like, presumptuous of me.

No, I agree with you, NutsAndDolts. TBH, I don't want to do any rules that force us to kill Sims before their time. I'm just not into that. And I'm not all that keen on marrying an elder to wait for them to die. Especially if my heir is male and I'm supposed to have kids....

hi everyone. quick updates

Tons and tons of birthdays, actually i forgot to throw parties for quite a few of my sims. it just gets to be too much ya know.

Toffee aged up to YA. i made him a firefighter. gave him a make-over before he left, and got him settled in his profession. most of yall have a lot of money. my sims are BROKE! by the time Toffee aged up i think my family had maybe 3,000 sim dollars. i couldn't buy him a home, so i kicked him out. and since i kicked him out, i kicked all the children out. i find it funny that they all manage to live in mansions! hahaha go figure. but anyways Toffee grew up to be quite handsome if i do say so myself.

http://i56.tinypic.com/aot2wy.jpg
after the age up of Tofee the youngest sim in the family grew into a teenager, Peanut, or should i say "chunky Peanut Butter"

http://i55.tinypic.com/20f3z47.jpg
he has subsequently been modified via "mastercontroller" which i just learned how to do.

Mango too grew up. what i hated was, i worked her out aLOT to trim her down a bit, and when she aged to adult the game made her fatter than she was as a teenager! she's still cute. i just didnt like that. i didnt adjust her weight or anything (b/c at the time i didnt know how to do that) . initally i thought i'd keep her in the house to fufill "couple" but nah i kicked her out. i found a girl for Almond to marry.

http://i51.tinypic.com/xmj3nq.jpg

Shea Butter celebrated her aging up to elder, alone. sorry but i forgot and sent her out to meet up with a friend, then it became 9pm..and the rest, as they say, is history.

http://i54.tinypic.com/zwhzdi.jpg

Almond started macking on Renee in high school. too bad he had an epic FAIL when he tried to go in for his "first kiss"
http://i51.tinypic.com/ejtt3t.jpg

Almond then aged up to YA
http://i54.tinypic.com/x4g7qg.jpg
and yep, i forgot to throw him a party, and his teen sister Coconut was sitting at the table doing her homework! (she's so cute)

Coconut aged up about a few days after her older brother, and soon moved out on her own.

http://i51.tinypic.com/xcubuw.jpg

ok so after macking on Renee, she runs off in the middle of talking with Almond. just when he was about to propose they go "steady". i then get the message that she has "aged up to YA". and then immediately thereafter is the message that's she's in a commited relationship with another sim. this sucks b/c when i picked her to be with my sim, she was "single" and in a matter of about 4 sim hours she was YA and in a commited Relationship.

Almnd, was bound and determined to have Renee, with or without her commitment issues. so when she attened his younger sister Coconut's birthday party, he decided to capitalize on their friendship, and ask her to move in.

http://i55.tinypic.com/wb83yu.jpg
she agreed. and so their romance continued.

(when i finally got to control renee, one of her wishes became to break up with her bf! yes, i didnt even have to make her do it.hahah love the commitment issue sims)

Almond got his first kiss and a lot more

http://i56.tinypic.com/j7awyb.jpg

Coco Butter, aged up. and Almond proposed to Renee, he is i n love with her, and she in love with him (at the moment)

http://i52.tinypic.com/n4tczk.jpg
http://i52.tinypic.com/dw2afc.jpg

Peanut butter had a birthday and finally aged up to Chuckier Peanut butter, but with the help of master controller, he's just chuncky peanut butter(sorry no pic)

Almond and Renee invited over their siblings for the wedding party, where they exchanged vows and rings.

http://i51.tinypic.com/2rniirk.jpg
http://i51.tinypic.com/2v9vrxj.jpg

updates: gen 1 goals complete: adoptive couple, 5 kids,awesome- painted potraits of all the children with the heir having his portait painted as a YA and in his wedding suit. Shea Butter is now leader of the free world (LTW complete) and with the aging of peanut butter to teen, Coco completed her LTW of raising 5 kids. Coco has quit her part-time job, while shea continues to rule the world.

my rolls for gen 2: couple, living green, 3 kids, half-siblings, primary income photography, and secondary income none.

sorry for the long post, but i just cant keep up with a blog, i too have commitment issues

I don't like to kill sims in my game. But I am not against killing a sim who is only dedicated to bring his bank account in the household. I think I'll see him like a kind of stranger, someone my family is not really linked to, and wouldn't have any prejudice to kill him .. But I may like him too and let him alive ;) . So, everyone has its own motives. But I am agree with NutsandDolts, it'll be better to discuss each rule too. But it seemed to me that after we discuss a new rule, there is nothing which is really decided on what we are going to do with this rule (let it down, modify or upload it..). So the vote could solve this problem

The problem with the bank account, though, is even if they are wealthy, they don't bring any more money into your household than if they were poor.
So it becomes a rule about bringing in any random rich Sim just to kill them, and that doesn't fly with me.

Nice update orkhid. Congratulations on raising so many kids! I almost always roll 2 for some reason, and never got more than 3. I admire all of you who do the 5 kids.

It's above all tiring, I play much slowly since I have 5 childrens to raise and I'm very impatient to move (kick) them out of the house  ....but congratulations to orkhid too, this goal is a real challenge :gjob:

I think I'm going to reroll for my 4 last generations. In fact, as I 've rolled by advance, all the rules have been updated many times since I rolled for the generation 1... So I play with old rules and it's a bit disturbing. So I've decided to reroll when Dean's second child (generation 7) will be born, then roll again when the generation 8 will be born and so on... So I pray to not have 5 kids anymore :wtf:

I propose to update the challenge with the new Misc fun goal by severedsolo (match rooms with traits and favorite colour), as it seems that noone was really against (for what I've read of the following threads).
EDIT: And I propose to edit too the rules about the party to remember" goal because it's written that your sims have to play guitar successfully, but as we have had new instruments with LN, it will be better to include piano, bass and (I don't remember the third one). My sim plays only piano. He's almost level 5 and it's the same thing than the guitar because all guests stop their activities when he plays piano

I agree about the matching rooms for Misc fun.
I was thinking the same thing about party to remember for the instruments, since they all have songs your Sims can learn on them.
I was also wondering about the drinks part of that goal. Right now it's Nectar if you have WA or regular bar drinks if you don't. I wonder if we could add for LN to buy a professional bar & hire a mixologist for the party, or if you have a Sim with mixology skill to make some special drinks. I've never actually tried the mixology skill, but I assume a Sim with the skill could some snazzy drinks on a home bar?

I'm all for playing outside of my comfort zone, which is why I'd be "well, fine" about rolling deathmurderevillulz once, but not more than once.

And I agree, a sim mixing drinks for the party would be cute, and it's a part of LN, which this challenge was supposedly updated for. =)

The mixology skill annoys me a bit. I have had trouble getting my sims to create special drinks, other than the special drinks they learned how to make by sampling the special drinks at different bars and clubs. In my current legacy town, a sim with the mixology skill would only be learning from The Grind's menu, lol.

The fourth instrument is drums.

Shepard has been pestering me a lot lately to learn the mixology skill, probably because he's a party animal. And he certainly spends enough time in bars, lol. So if I can find him some spare time, I've been meaning to have him take that mixology class he's so keen on. And then since his daughter's goal is party to remember, I thought it would be nice to have new mixology drinks for that.
We also have tons of perfect nectar in the house from Ewan's adventurer days, so it's not like I can't achieve drinks, lol.
I've done party to remember twice now (once in this legacy and once in the previous) and no one ever drinks the nectar. The tray sits around for weeks afterwards. Sometimes the ghosts drink it. But my party guests never touch it, lol.

party guests never touch nectars, and maids and butlers clean them, which is annoying particularly when you have a perfect and valuable nectar. Fortunately, guests like the drinks prepared on the LN professional bars.

I started to stress a bit upon the "party to remember" goal. I have a butler in the house, and perfect fruits in the fridge (lauryn's husband is a gardener)..So am I allowed to ask the butler cooking for the party? I add that nobody in the house have enough cooking skill points :help: and since the plates must be at least of "very good" quality I have a chance (even a little chance) to miss my party

I think we can add having the butler prepare the meals to the LN updated party to remember rules. For such a simple goal, it has quite a checklist of things you need to do be prepared for it, from having a skilled musician in the family, having someone who can cook very nice meals, acquiring the drinks, creating drama...
I remember for Shadow's wedding party, which was a party to remember party, I almost forgot the drinks. I had him run over to the consignment store to buy a bottle of nectar (no one in my family had traveled before) and there was no one at the cash register. I freaked, lol. But the cashier showed up eventually and I was able to get nectar.
