Hey. Hey Buckley.

Sometimes Marie wonders if fate is a sadist. Because really... the glare Dastan is sending her feels hot enough to burn through her skin. - ch. 130

: )

Also: Katrina was the only triplet to inherit the "Pyromaniac" hidden trait. Neither Keri nor Dastan have it so I'm curious as to where it came form. I didn't think Joven was high enough in his career when Dastan was conceived/born for it to take effect. Watcher is confused... happy. But confused.

Ooh. Pretty letters! :)

...Though, really, that bright and shiny "spoiler" button is just calling my name.

...Aaaand I clicked it.

Ooh.

More pretty letters.

Btw, Cece (and anyone else who cares), you are welcome to call me by my name. Colleen. But you don't have to. Whatever is easier. :)

I am playing with Anne Arbor too Melissa, and I'm almost positive from looking around a bit (from picking a lot to design my own house on) that the creator made the empty lots flat, if that's what you were downloading it to do. I'm sad it didn't work for you because it really is a lovely neighborhood.

Yeah, I'm mostly bummed that I'm not getting to see/play in the neighborhood.
What I wanted for the build, though, was to see the street placement on the lot Colleen preferred. It dead ends, so to get the driveway placement correct, you'd need to build on the actual lot.
But Colleen said there's another lot she'd be happy to use that has full street access, so I can build on any 40x40 in any world for that.

But I LIKE the name Buckley... xD I don't know. For some people it makes sense in my head to call them by their preferred name "Becky, Emma, etc." but for some the first title I associate them with HAS to be their name or it will confuse me "Cali, Cyyk(osis), Buckley".

If you'd prefer Colleen though I will make an effort.

With all this talk of Anne Arbour I'm almost tempted to upload it... (If just to see how much of a player Brian is)

You can call me Buckley if you want. :) It just makes me giggle cause it's the name of my dog, who I named after William F Buckley and his son Christopher Buckley. Actually, my dog is named after another pet who was named after William F Buckley, but I like to say I named him after Christopher Buckley cause I love that movie "Thank You For Smoking". Hah, it's complicated. Just call me whatever.

xD Reya is actually what my friends call me. Its a misheard nickname from my family "Reina (Queen)". Its actually funny cause I named the main character in my main story "Reyalin" before my nickname took hold and now it feels like a self insert but i like her name too much to change it.

Morale of the story: Cece sucks at naming things.

Thanks everyone for the tips about the showering jeans thing. I ended up fixing it by deleting the offending pants and then using Twallans mastercontroller to edit her in CAS.

Now I have a new issue though it is more amusing then anything else. My first generations first born teen is all of a sudden sneaking everywhere. It is fairly amusing seeing her sneak around the house as she does laundry or sneak to the school bus. I am happy that the second child is rolled to be the heir. I'm hoping it'll stop when she ages up. I tried resetsim but she still does it.

I called Buckley "Buckley". She explained where she got the name from and then I started talking about mine.

YOUR TURN.

Beezer, I got nothing for that. I would've expected resetsim to work.

Okay...
My name-story is kind of weird... 39C is short for 39 Clues which is a series of books and Bones is from "The Maze of Bones" the name of the first book in that series... So... Yeah... '-'

Beezer, there might be something in Twallan's Debug enabler that fixes Sims stuck in a weird walk. I'm not certain of this, but it's worth looking into.

As for my name, it dates back to Sims 1. I had a Sim story site called California Simmin', set in my Sim version of L.A. (where I live). People started requesting my houses, so I started a yahoo group to share lots, because my story site wouldn't be able to handle the bandwidth. So, my yahoo group was called calisims for short. But everyone in my group knew me and called me by my name, Melissa.
I later became a co-owner of another Sim Site, Deviant Sim (now I'm getting nostalgic). All my contributions to that site were done under the name calisims, but again, everyone knew me by name, the calisims was just like a brand name. When I registered to MTS, I never expected to post in the forums or ever be called by this name. But I'm used to it now.
My blogger name, yangthecat, well, I haz a cat. Named Yang. I also giggle when called Yang.

Haha. That was just me going off on a random tangent. Sorry.

Beezer, I had a problem once where one of my Sims started running everywhere. She'd run to the fridge, the bathroom, just everywhere. It sounds like you could have a similar glitch? I think I fixed it by switching households and then switching back to the family, or maybe I moved them out of their house in Edit Town mode and then back in. Maybe try that? Anyway, good luck!

EDIT: Actually, listen to Melissa's suggestion. I just checked and there is a feature on Twallan's debugenabler mod that allows you to "reset walk". That's probably much easier, lol.

...And I like hearing about how everyone chose their names. It's interesting. :)

Beezer
3rd Oct 2011, 9:57 PM
Thanks again. I'll try the edit town thing first then if that doesn't work I'll get Twallan's debuger.

Buckley I read your nickname had to do with your dog, mine is after my dog too. Her nickname was Beezer because when we got her as a puppy from the pound her "foster mom" had named her Molly Brown because they didn't think that she would live. My last name starts with a B which gave her the initials MBB. So as time went past with the double B in her initials we just started calling her beezneez and then that turned into Beezer. Unfortunately she died a month ago and so I decided to use her name on my new account as a personal strange little memorial thing.

I was on here before under a different username but when I installed Windows 7 I lost my password and the e-mail I had used to register had been hacked by a spammer so Hotmail shut it down automatically >.<.

So after reverting to an old save; a meteor struck Harper and Corrigan while they were outside the stadium. Just my luck; but it was cool to have my first OMGMOVEHARPERAWAYFROMAREA moment... I sadly did not succeed. Back in time, I go... again! :faceslap: Eventually, her first chapter will be finished.

And my name is a family nickname (minus the revival). Although absolutely none of us know where it came from. One of life's mysteries, I suppose. I'm totally comfortable having people here call me Giga; it feels like I'm surrounded by an internet family.

I don't know what I was thinking with this account. I never expected to post on the forums.

I assume it's a play on "Nuts and Bolts", and I was feeling kind of doltish at the time.

My guess is, I was experiencing some critical problem within the game, which caused me to flee to this site for help.

Everywhere I go on the Internet, I have a different name. =/

lol I like cheating and reading spoilers, it gets me excited. I might start writing an acutal story for gen 2, But I never thought it suited Jordan, thats if I ever get the 3 partner ships. what happens if I dont get those. do I have to start a new legacy??? or does Jordan just get a big red F lol

Technically, if you fail to meet a generation's goals, you fail the challenge and have to quit. But you know, I'm not going to tell anyone they have to stop playing a family they've invested time and love in, or tell anyone they can't post or blog about continuing a legacy after failing a goal.

ETA: *I* would like to see Jordan's story continue.

NutsAndDolts

If you fail to meet any of the randomized parameters you rolled, you fail the challenge.

If you want to say "oh well I did my best" and keep going, I guarantee you people would keep reading your blog anyway. xD

But some people have failed and then started a new legacy in the past, yes.

I don't have anything of value to add, just where my name is from... It's pretty lame actually. A friend and I got really bored and used one of those 'hippie name generators' (because my friend had decided he wanted to open a nudist camp) mine ended up as Teal Moonshine, his was Coral Rainbow or something and TA DA I liked it so much it's every username everywhere... Besides, it's a tad better than my old nickname of Josie Nofriends, which is which is a longer story because my name is Courtney.

I don't check the thread for like a day and a half and I come back and you guys have posted a million times already. xD

Just to add my name story, the "Puff" part actually comes from the pokemon Jigglypuff. One day my bf started singing the Jigglypuff song, only with my name (Melanie) instead, so I got the nickname Melaniepuff, which eventually got shortened to Puff. The Miss part came about when I got into The Sims Online beta, and Puff was already taken so I came up with Miss Puff and have been using that name on sims forums and sites ever since. My blogger name, Melanija, is what one of my Croatian relatives told me my name would be in Croatia if I was born there. I thought it was pretty, so I use it for my handle most other non-sims places.

Also, I should have an update tomorrow, assuming I don't get distracted by other things like I did today. >.>

Definitely not a journalist. I'm an English Literature/History dual major with a concentration in gender studies and I was supposed to write an "article" (it was an essay that they shortened for the magazine) about feminism. I made mine a satire on how the movement was perceived (because I can't take anything seriously apparently) and it was well-liked by my Professor who offered to have it published in her friends feminism magazine. Pretty cool, I say.

And congratulations Cece! This is my first publication and likely my last unless it's a research thesis or something related to obtaining my tenure. I can't wait to see your stuff go public though; and I can say I sort of knew you... via the internet. Maybe not; that makes me sound creepy.

Oh I'm no writer, trust me. At least not a creative writer. The only things that I have published are this research "article" and few long essays in small magazines or newspapers (which I don't count since they were written in high school and are incredibly crappy... my name will not be tied to those, I say!).
And you shouldn't feel self-conscious. Your legacy is great and I love reading it.

And Cece: I feel ya' on the editing. My first Dennis Chapters are absolutely horrid grammar/punctuation-wise; not to mention I'm *really* bad at character conversations. I need to work on my vocab range (which I can do fine in research papers, but apparently cannot grasp in creative endeavors). Poo.

Hi,

We are discussing ages lol, so I'm 33 years old which make me one of the oldest I think

I would want to propose a new rule

I thought the last evening about introducing 2 ways for the challenge, the player would have 2 choiceq

1) playing the challenge in the casual way, the one everyone knows
2) the casual way too, BUT your family would have to let a print on each generation. For instance:

- At the end of the 10th generation, have a picture of every heir (so 10 pictures)
or -Raise a family of horses (or cat or dog..) until your 10th generation and put a picture (or do a portrait) of every favorite pet at each generation.
or -Have a pink diamond (or any kind of rare gem) of every cut at the 10th generation (we assume you can have 2 of the same size as there are only 8 cuts available in game)
or -Learn a skill that will stay in the family and achieve the journal skill for each generation
or - Write a very good romantic book at every generation, you are allowed to sell it even if you haven't got writers in your family

It may be other things, but the idea is to let a print that will make your family unique in town.
I also have to say that this rule conflicts with the awesome goal (section E). I have never really liked the awesome goal because I find very stressing to achieve it in only one short sims life. So if the player choose to have a family print (second choice) he would be free to remove the awesome goal as this goal is already set for the 10 generations.

Another thing: If there are rules for pets soon, I think it would be better to have a kind of random traits system, which would be fun. I've read that we will have 3 choices per day in the equestrian center and if we call the social worker in order to adopt a pet. Maybe we could decide that we have to choose the first pet the game propose to us (and not the ones we want).. By this way, it will give players more fun.. How will I manage with this lazy horse, this sloppy cat or this evil dog? It would even be more challenging if these pets are linked to a career or a goal

For instance, if we choose to introduce animal lovers in section F, why not to say: you're not allowed to choose your pet traits as you are supposed to love every pet and not only the ones you want..

So what to you think of it? :report:

calisims
5th Oct 2011, 1:58 AM
I like the ideas for the optional rules, mimi. It's kind of like Pinstar's legacy for Sims 2, there a bunch of optional rules you could for extra points every generation. Not that we have a points system, but it would be nice to have an additional goal to pursue through the whole 10 generations.

For the pets, I'd like to see the EP in action before we get into new rules. I do know that I'm not going to want a roll that forces me to have a horse, for instance.

Buckley
5th Oct 2011, 2:11 AM
Hmm, that's an interesting idea Mimi. Would you get to pick which of the goals you would pursue for the entire 10 generations or would it be random? Personally, I wouldn't like to do the skilling goal because I think it would get boring after a while to max the same skill and complete the same skill challenges 10 times over. I like the first option a lot. That sounds like it could be super fun to have a portrait of every heir created.

And I agree with Melissa. Let's wait and see about the new expansion pack before we make any rules for it.

EDIT: Also, I personally love the awesome goal. So far, it's one of my favorites. I like the challenge of having to come up with an idea and having to pull it off during one Sim's lifetime. But maybe that's just me. And I'm not entirely sure I see how it would conflict with your optional rule idea.

I don't quite get Mimi's suggestion, but maybe it's just because I'm a bit tired.
I have to go to the dentist tomorrow afternoon, which is going to be "fun" to bus to. It's soooo far away from my school, but it's smarter to go from school to there to make up for missing school today.

So you know that object that comes with the new world Hidden Springs? The "fountain of youth" that costs half a million simoleons ($495,000 to be precise). Umm, my heir just received it as a wedding gift from Selina Boyson, formerly Starr. (Hah, thanks Cece. ;)) $495,000! Yikes! I have never in my entire Simming life had that much cash.

Obviously I haven't sold it or anything. It's just sitting in my family inventory. That would be majorly cheating to cash in on it, right? Lol, I feel dirty for even suggesting it.

Sorry if my explanation was confused. As NutsandDolts pointed it, it would be optional and the player would choose the one he wants, to play without having to do something special during his generations's lives.. or to do something special (he would have to choose the one he wants in the list I put above).

Ok for pets, we have to wait..

Very funny :D :D how to be rich in the game without having to do anything.. But nothing in the rules forbid you to sell it, so you can sell it without feeling guilty :gjob:

I like Mimi's idea of having optional multi-generation goals. I agree with Buckley that the skills one sounds like it would get a little boring doing the same one every generation, and I think the romance novel one would too, but the others sound good. For those last two, though, it might be better for something like by the end of the legacy each of the skills have to have been maxed out with their journals completed by at least one sim in the legacy (maybe the heir?). So that way you can chose which skills each sim learns, but by the end you will have had to have done all of them. Same with the books, maybe each generation has to write a very good book, but each generation needs to do a different genre. That way you're not having to do the same thing every generation.

And, just in time for it to still be Tuesday, here's my new update: http://keattslegacy.blogspot.com/2011/10/chapter-six-why-not.html :)

I think in that case it would be allowed for you to also bring raw foods like apples etc. in your inventory to eat while inside tombs. Or carry a portable fire pit to roast your raw ingredients on. Because some tombs take days to explore, and getting back to base camp to eat is not an option.

Edit: I really like the optional rules mimi and I also agree with Puff's changes. I do like the awesome challenge (even though I haven't played it yet), but it might be easier for some folk to have a challenge that can be carried over the generations (like me... because I lack creativity).

Ethan is not *actually* my creation. He's the product of CD's Alucard and Melissa's Meadow. I claim no credit for his good looks, but I enjoy the compliment all the same. :D

Random thought for the day: I recently added a Sim from my old legacy (and a completely different world) to my new legacy and his relationship with the family stayed intact. I mean, I copied him to the family bin and just plopped him down in the new world. And now he shows up on the family tree. I was shocked. I thought that saving them to the bin would sever any relationships they have with other people not in their household. It's pretty neat that it didn't though.

Breze, you can still participate even without late night. Just re-roll anything you get that requires that expansion pack. It's really a very fun challenge, and we'd love to have you join us! :)

Cece, I thought it was pretty cool too. I don't have Twallan's porter mod, that's why I was so surprised the relationship stayed intact.

Mm... for the first time, I'm feeling pretty stuck on my blog. I kind of wrote myself into a difficult-to-solve mess.

I had an outlandish solution written up, but I keep trying to think of something better, because I'm afraid it'll make everybody roll their eyes. O.O

So see, you guys aren't the only ones with insecurities. ;)

I believe you can add it yourself, so long as it meets the parameters that Cece set up and you keep the list in alphabetical order. ;)

My last Dennis Chapter is draining me... I might have to split it into two since I'm attempting to fit too much into one chapter.

And Nuts: I bet whatever you write will be amazing. You certainly haven't disappointed yet... and I sort of think you're incapable of it. :) I envy you.

Ch. 132 : Suspicious http://starrsimslegacy.blogspot.com/2011/10/ch-132-suspicious.html

I'm actually very proud of the flow of this one. A lot happens in it, and I think it flows and weaves together nicely.

... I need to get a good lighting close up of Angel's hair. It really is fabulous.

EDIT: Triplets are available on the legacy characters exchange if anyone is interested. I DID however dye Angel's hair back when he was a teen. Just change his hair to black or dark blue if you guys care about genetics.

I've got a quick question:-

My heir is currently a teen, the roll for his career is farmer and I'm starting him on gardening as a teen. Is it appropriate for him to start selling his produce as a teen or should he wait til he's a young adult?

This came up before, with the painting career. We decided it's fine to have them start selling the produce as soon as they register with that career. =)

Becky, I remember reading somewhere in your blog comments about a glitch with the cameras, and I tried to google it but couldn't find anything. I've been skilling photography recently and haven't noticed any problems, but I'm a bit worried now. What was (is) going on, if you don't mind my asking? I'd hate to have to find out the hard way, lol.

Oh, don't worry. It's nothing that will make your computer explode. =)

Sometimes when sims take photos they freeze up. You can save them with resetsim, but the photo is lost. It's like it was never taken, because the action was never completed. The sim gains no skill for this since the action was not completed. And this happens so frequently to me, that it makes skilling photography impossible.

The current theory is actually that this only occurs when sims have uncompleted opportunities. But I haven't felt like testing this.

Very excited to start! For first gen I have:
Couple
2 children
Primary income- Criminal (thief)
Secondary income- Busker
Gen Goal- Expansionist
Miscellaneous Fun- Half-Siblings

Should be pretty easy, i think. The half-siblings part I guess I just make the first wife leave?
Also question, how do you guys choose who the heir is going to be? First born? Some other choosing system?

ReyaD

Try moving her out, then resetsim, then back in?

*Salute* I shall try that immediately... after lunch... after lunch and watching a movie.

What? Mom just bought me Lion King for my birthday. It was the first english movie I ever saw and so close to my heart. Younger sister broke my VHS version when I was only eleven and I've been heartbroken ever since. Blue ray fixes everrrrything. <3

breze6: Sounds like a fun roll! I got couple, three kids, half siblings for my next legacy and I can't waaait to have fun with it. There are so many different ways you can do it. I know Buckley rolled couple, half-siblings for her current generation.

For the heir, some people just know as soon as they see the kids which will be the next heir. I personally prefer to use the "famous heir rule" which is where you just roll for the number of children, which will be the heir. (Three kids, roll a 2, second child born is heir).

In other news, I'm almost finished with the last Dennis Chapter; but I'll be judging a contest here at MTS pretty soon (and I have schoolwork to catch up on), so I'm hoping I can stick with getting the Harris Legacy officially started this Sunday or Monday.

When I think there's a chance of the kid turning out mutant, I don't roll for heir.

Then, this one time, I kept two of the kids as heirs, and my story still hasn't gotten over it... xD

calisims
8th Oct 2011, 10:33 PM
In my last legacy I rolled for most of my heirs. So far in my current legacy, I've been choosing heirs rather than rolling for them. Sometimes I'm hoping to inherit a particular feature from one parent, and will choose as heir any kid that gets it, and sometimes it's a matter of timing, if I want an earlier child to be heir or a later one.

ReyaD
8th Oct 2011, 11:35 PM
I always roll for my heir, but I don't always stick to it. (Case: Gen Nine with Dastan.) If one child is just impossibly gorgeous or the decided heir is really ugly I'll change it without even worrying about it. I'm very vain, and if I'll have to play with a character for a full generation s/he'd better be damn attractive.

CinderEmma

I always choose heir, mainly I don't like being pigeonholed into a choice of character, especially if the heir doesn't match the rest of the roll :)

Question for Becky: Is it cool with you if I use Arthur Archer as a main character? Well, main in the prolouge, less of a main in the actual legacy. I just needed a "watcher-like" character... and I'm still in love with him. >_>

NutsAndDolts

I have no idea what any of that means, but I can't picture myself minding very much. ;)

To me, it's basically fan fiction when a character from one legacy appears in another. As opposed to, say, a crossover.

Though we get very close to crossovers sometimes... like it could have been plausible for my Ace to actually have been a descendant of Melissa's Carys, or for Melissa's Riley to have been an Archer-cousin victim of the whole mummy thing... though for all intents and purposes, it's a little easier to think each legacy occurs in an alternate dimension sort of deal. A world where things progressed in a similar but different fashion.

...You're, uh... gonna see a lot of "fan fiction" in my next update, as I try to piece Twinbrook events together.

ReyaD
9th Oct 2011, 6:03 AM
When I crossover/fanfictionize characters from other legacies I do try my hardest to keep their stories as true to the original as I can. Like for Arthur, I'm still saying he had a daughter named Sifton (Who was taught to walk by his brother, Pavel) buuuut yeah. I can see what you're saying.

Can't wait to read all your "fan fiction" Becky. I'm curious as to what you're cooking up in Twinbrook. I'm so attached to your legacy its ridiculous <3.

I was thinking about timelines and such recently, realising how inappropriate it was for me to have Rio in my current legacy, if Riley was indeed a survivor of the mummy apocalypse, Rio should be long gone before my BH legacy even begins. But, eh, too bad, lol. Screw you, timelines!

Ali, I love it when the game actually helps! *creeps in*

So.. I've been lurking here a while, and I think I'll give this a shot. Getting a new computer on Tuesday.. (last computer was too failtastic to do any real playing after LN since the updates to water made pools cause my game to spaz out horribly and occasionally crash), so until then... anyone have any random tips concerning this? I played a couple legacies back in '09, but the farthest I ever got (by Pinstar's icky icky rules) was gen 3. By then my heir made me want to burn her alive, because my tolerance for insane, neurotic, slobbery (and she was an only child) is sadly a tad low, and my luck for rolling halfway decent traits is nigh abysmal. (One other failed attempt gave me twin girls, and a random roll gave one grumpy/evil, and the second evil/grumpy. Not joking here. And one twin was a redhead even though both parents were supposedly Asian.) And the rules were a lot more restrictive than these seem to be, which made me sad. But any advice while I wait to begin would be awesome.

Buckley
10th Oct 2011, 1:09 AM
Welcome moryrie! This is a great challenge cause it doesn't necessarily dictate how you play, it just gives you goals and stuff to accomplish while you play (which, imo, keeps it interesting and fun). My only advice is even if you get a roll you hate, go with it anyway cause usually those end up being the most entertaining generations.

Are you going to blog? Blogging is what keeps me motivated. Actually, to me blogging is more fun than the playing. But I'm just weird like that I guess.

(...I hate slobs too. HATE them. So I totally understand where you are coming from about the annoying heir, lol.)

ReyaD
10th Oct 2011, 1:09 AM
Oh man Alma that looks like a positively EVIL roll for your first generation!

For tips moryrie... I don't really know. Just do whatever feels natural. Don't push your sims or yourself into storylines you'll hate (If you're blogging, I mean). Try not to make it any harder then it needs to be. Honestly the first two generations are the hardest. Once you're past those the game just breezes by. It's easier to make fantastical plots and fun characters once you don't have to worry about money.

And if you break a rule or two on accident don't just give up. It happens.

I'm about 1/4 through the prologue already and its sooo much fun. I knew my founder would be cute, but I never imagined she'd be THIS adorable. And fun to play.

Now I just have to finish gen ten... I don't want to finish gen ten. It makes me sad.

Welcome aboard, redcoalcarpets and Moryrie, and welcome back Alma. I was wondering where you had gotten to, it's great to see you again. And it's great to have new players.

Moryrie, you'll love that you don't have to roll random traits for your heirs in this challenge (unless you roll Random Traits for that generation, and even then it's only for one generation) so your bad luck there won't come into play. I always got bored with Pinstar's legacy, too. Every generation was the same goals and rules, which made it kind of dull. For me, the most fun thing about this challenge is coming up with a story for each generation's roll, why they get into their careers and pursue the goals they've rolled.

@redcoal. I have a thing for bad boy musicians myself, But I guess that comes through in my legacies, lol.

Glad to hear I was missed, haha. 8D I'm also glad I came back in a huge flow with other newbies and returners and all that. Makes me happy to see this challenge still thriving~ Hello to all of you who I don't know!

That awkward moment when you can't decide just how easy you should make your Founder. 8| I'm afraid I'll make her too easy with too little explanation and that all of my readers will hate her. xD

LOL! If you want an easy character check out my gen 5 heir... Louna was a complete slut. Like I didn't even try to make her likable. Just go for it, Alma. Just by saying she's easy I'm already a fan. I don't consider easy girls to be bad, I just think of them as "free spirited". >_>

You guys are making me miss Paprika.

I REMEMBER THAT! xD

Paprika was one of my favourites from your legacy. She really didn't care what anyone though. My favourite line was from that chapter where Melody and Marvin were talking about their house becoming the "party house" and their daughter being the town bike. I choked on my drink when I read that part.

Everyone's updates have been so awesome lately. *jealous twitch* Giga's and Becky's and Cece's and Maddie's and Melissa's and OMG my mind is going to explode from the talent in this forum.

...I think I need to go rewrite my next update now. And try to make it half as interesting as y'alls. <3

Thanks for the tips Buckley, Reya and Cali.

I'm not really sure if I'll blog it or not. Especially not after reading too many simsecrets directed at legacies that were really nasty. And it might become more of an 'observation' legacy than a plot-y one since I'm a newb at this. =P

One idea (thats semi-against the rules) that I'm toying with though.. is having an immortal founder. No other immortals, and no extra-long lifespans.. just one sim that's totally obsessed with living forever, and willing to do anything to do it (including mummification and or vampirism until life fruits, age freezes or other 'easier' methods become available.) To keep it 'fair' though that sim will have to quit their job after their spouse dies, or gen 2 can be fully employed or something. Not like it makes much difference after a few gens.

NO. NO REWRITING. Colleeeeeen you're breaking my heart! I've been DYING for an update from you all WEEK! Don't make me withhold my own updates. I've done it before to get updates from people and I WILL do it again. (... Okay I won't but still.)

moryrie: I'm doing something similar with my next legacy, except he's not the founder. Just a character that watches over the family and isn't actually part of the household. But thats completely for story telling reasons.

I say go for it.

Although I'm not entirely certain, I don't think that would be against the rules. While it's not how I would choose to play, and it could potentially make generations where you role large numbers of children tricky (that is, if you don't have a mod that allows for larger family sizes), there is no rule that explicitly states you can't use ambrosia or the happiness rewards to allow for a longer life span. It's an interesting idea, that's for sure.

As far as the blog, don't let mean people and their nasty comments dictate your decision. If you don't want to write one, then don't write one, but you shouldn't worry what other people will say. No one from this forum will say anything mean, I promise. :)

Aw... everybody needs to stop feeling so down about their legacies. I have yet to read one that I didn't like. Whether you choose to do a more story oriented or observation oriented legacy, I'm sure it will be grand.

*gives a giant internet huggle to everyone*

Now I'm off to read everyone's updates.

And Buckley: I'm looking at you. Cece wants an update; I want an update... you better deliver. *intense stare*

Edit: Holy! I didn't think Adamaris was so popular. She's my second most downloaded sim (behind the ever lovely Mya, of course). Perhaps I chose the wrong heir. ;)

I think I'm the only one here in love with their own story. I'm very proud of all the work that's gone into the Starr Legacy. That said, I'm still unsure as to some points in my plot. (Particularily those involving Keri vs Marie.) At first I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it but now everyone's gotten attached to them so I'm having second thoughts.

You definitely shouldn't Buckley. Your Legacy is absolutely exceptional. And thanks for the compliment.

Also, Mar is certainly one of my favorite characters from the legacy so I'm glad she was well received. Harper, on the other hand, is a whole different breed of Dennis; so I'm hoping she gets the same amount of affection as well... but we shall see. She's... uh, not quite as nice as my other characters. Maybe nice isn't the right word; she's surly. I have been calling her "Ms. Butthurt" and "Cranky McCrankerson" as everything seems to bug her. *shrug*

The love in this thread, I feel it. :luff:

FINALLY got enough photos for Tuesday's update. *Eye twitch* Stupid lag. Seriously I have come so far in this story. If I have to give up because of something as idiotic as lag I may actually throw something. Such as my computer. Off my balcony.

And then I will be sad because my computer will be broken. And my legacy will be gone.

... stupid lag.

Moryrie, the simsecrets directed a story blogs seem to be obsessed with Sims 2 blogs, and to be all coming from and directed at a community of bloggers all on the same one or two forums. Not a single random legacy has ever been secreted. So, if you just post about your updates here, you're probably safe from that kind of nastiness.

Some time ago, we had a discussion about whether to ban the new potions and things that stop or reverse aging and decided not to, trusting that if people chose to use them for a story purpose, they wouldn't abuse them for 'beating' the challenge. So if you want to have an immortal founder, that's fine. You can have them be unemployed after Gen 2 starts to stay in line with the challenge's income restrictions.

Sim secret is a live journal thing:
http://simsecret.livejournal.com/

Most of the secrets only make sense if you are involved in the communities that get secrets made about them. Since I'm mostly not involved in any community anymore, most of it goes over my head as well.

Whenever there's any kind of forum drama, the secrets will explode with pro and con secrets for each side. Since I enjoy rubbernecking that kind of thing, I check Sim Secrets every weekend to see what kind of dramaz are going on. Sad, really, lol.

There's also a lot of secrets about Sim stories, some to hate, some to love. None of our blogs have ever gotten any hate secrets (or love secrets, lol). MTS in general rarely gets any secrets made about it, though one or two crop up.
