I'm trying to figure things out as i go along. I'm looking at marvine's 60's alpha & PAF's dress & I see one alpha group in MS which looks black the faces are inverted. It works fine in game without any invisibility areas showing in some angles. How is that constructed? Is it two different layers sitting very close & joind into one? The second version which some other creator uses two body_alpha with the inner layer inverted &haveing a transparency one number lower than the outside one. Can someone confident with this area please explain this to me since, this knowledge I have looked & not found yet.

The alpha skirt t mesh of Marvine's, with which I'm familiar, (http://www.modthesims.info/d/127591) has 2 alpha layers on top of each other. You see the black one first in Milkshape but actually the opacity on the normal facing layer is set higher (5 for the normal/gray layer vs 3 for the inverted layer so it displays first in the game. The layers have identical/mostly identical vertex placement and bone assignments (I never actually checked every vertex).
As for PAF's mesh, the idea is to change lengths not to have transparency. If you just want to be able to cut away pieces and not have them be transparent you can put both sides in one group , but you have to change the alphatest setting to 1 and the alphablend setting to none in your recolor. This thread: http://www.insimenator.org/index.php/topic,83266.0.html explains it a little more than I just did.

I'm not quite sure about that particular Marvine's mesh with heels does it have only on alpha showing in MS like her 60's alpha dress with heels?. Anyways I made a mesh by copying the faces around the hip slightly to make a pair of short pants, Then made at a little larger in both x&z the copied those, inverted&normalized it &made slightly smaller. i put both in same group. I replaced my mesh with another that had same number of groups & it worked perfectly. That because, i don't know how to do add those parts in simpe yet. someday maybe. . This is complicated stuff because I can't find mush tutorials explaing detaild. Happy new year to you old timer  & thanks a lot for your help.
