Before you read any further, take a gander at these rules (http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/challenges/immortaldynasty.php) from Carl's Sims 3 Guide. It's called the Immortal Dynasty and it's very popular over in Sims 3 land.

Now that I have given up on EA making a decent glitch-fix for Sims 3 that repairs the aging-up, skip-school, and tons of other glitches, I sold Sims 3 and am rebuying Sims 2... but I loved the Immortal Dynasty very much, so much that I rebought Sims 2 to try to replicate that challenge over here!

However, this is very very primitive in rules. I wanted to start with core rules for people who don't own any expansion packs, but working on the rules adaptions, it was impossible to adapt some of the rules to those who just have plain vanilla Sims 2 as Lifetime Wants and buying community lots were mandatory, so I am afraid you'll need at least Open For Business to play this challenge. :(

I'll try adding in updates on various expansions - like college life for Uni, vampries(no, they will not be allowed, sorry), and witches for those with Apartment Life.

I am asking for people to try these rules out as betas and give me feedback on what should be changed. Enjoy! The title comes from the term "amaranthine" which means ageless, undying.

Setting Up
* Create an Adult Sim. You can have him be any Aspiration except Family, due to various rules making raising multiple kids impossible, and Grilled Cheese(since the Founder can't be Grilled Cheese normally, this means you cannot use a ReNuYuOrb to create a Grilled Cheese heir) - Grilled Cheese only has one Lifetime Want and it's not difficult to fulfill it.
* As in the Legacy challenge, place them on a 5x5 blank lot. It's recommended you use a custom hood for this, but you must make a custom sub-hood and place eight 5x5 blank lots and make them community lots.
* You are not allowed to switch active lots, you must always play the challenge lot for the entire challenge.
* Having mods that remove or alter the eight-Sim residence limit is strictly forbidden.
* Cheats... well, I cheat a lot with MaxMotives but I don't encourage them, definitely no money cheats!
* Snapdragons can by made, but no more than two can be placed on the lot.

Babies and marriage
* You are not allowed to marry anyone except townies or NPCs, like in the Legacy challenge. Mr. Big and the Diva cannot be married in or moved in due to their huge amount of wealth they bring in - I am trying to prevent your immortals-to-be from having an Agnes Man situation where the founder marries in for money.
* You are not allowed to break up with your spouse when you marry them. It is marriage for life(their life), sorry. This is to prevent you from marrying a rich Sim and getting all their free wealth.
* You can only have one pregnancy per generation, and the first-born child is automatically the heir. CHEESECAKE IS FORBIDDEN AS IS FORCETWINS OR THE RANDOM TRIPLETS&QUADS MOD - in fact, I highly recommend installing the choosable Trips&Quads mod and, when the menu appears asking how many kids, choose single each birth so you only have a single baby each generation. Any twins your Sims pop out must be the 10% chance of natural twins.
* NOBODY IS ALLOWED TO MOVE OUT AND YOU CANNOT KILL OFF SIMS, YOU MUST LET THEM DIE OF OLD AGE OR BY ACCIDENT.
* If your heir dies, you fail even if there are siblings who could take over.
* This is because the founder and each first-born Sim is marked for immortality. After completing several challenges in their life, upon reaching elder age, they will become 'immortal' and drink Elixir of Life every so often to keep their life meter from filling up. (Also, if they get killed by accident, you may exit without saving to negate this event.)
* All spares and spouses are forbidden from having Elixir and, if they die by accident, you cannot plead with Death for them, they must be taken away by the Reaper. On the other hand, they are free to fulfill any LTWs they want(except for Family ones like "Marry off 6 Kids") and have any career or aspiration they want.
* This lasts until the entire house is full of immortals. The first six generations must marry and get pregnant with the next heir. The seventh cannot marry because that will fill the house, they must have a child out of wedlock - for male heirs, that means alien abduction. For females, it means pregnancy from an outside man.
* You are free to use same-sex pregnancy or teen pregnancy mods but be sure you are careful, I will not be responsible for your game if it crashes and dies. :p
* Each heir must have an aspiration that is different from their parent's and their child's and you cannot have the same Aspiration in your family more than twice. Since Family is not allowed, that means that you must have two Romance Sims, two Popularity Sims, two Knowledge Sims, and two Fortune Sims.
* Servos cannot be activated, but may be built.
* Grand Vampires cannot be moved in, married in or bite your Sims. If anyone gets turned into a vampire, you must buy Vamprocillin-C within 24 hours and use it to remove the condition, even if it causes your Sim to go into aspiration failure. Vampires are immortal and, if they bite your heirs before they qualify for Elixir, you fail the challenge.

Challenges:

The challenges for immortality consist of the following rules:

* Each 'immortal-to-be'(founder and heirs) must complete their first Lifetime Want and it must be a unique Lifetime Want that was not completed by a previous generation. If your heir gets the same lifetime want as their immortal parent, you are free to use the ReNuYu Orb or the Lifetime Want cheat object in Boolprop to change it. (Be sure they have their aspiration meter to gold or platinum so you don't accidently turn them into Grilled Cheese sims!) You should have completed eight unique Lifetime Wants for your bloodline before the challenge is over.

* Each 'immortal-to-be' must top a career track. Yes, they must get a job and top it. There are ten base game careers in base game, so there is no lack of stuff to do. (Once I get Uni, Freetime, and Seasons installed, I will test them with these EP.)

* Each 'immortal-to-be' must buy one of the community lots from the custom sub-hood you made when they are old enough and rich enough to do so(they shouldn't cost much) and build their own business on it. They must go to that business once it is built and spend one day a week running the business and they must get it to Level 10, then they must keep doing this running the business until they become immortal to ensure it still remains at Level 10, and they cannot sell the businesses ever. This challenge is not for those who hate running businesses in Sims 2.

Also, to make sure this is a little more challenging, the following actions are forbidden during the challenge on business lots:
(1) Having anyone other than family members on the lot
(2) No having dates on the lot to get free stars, you must work
to get your stars
(3) No more than one snapdragon on the lot - you need to set up
the business to tend to the customer's bladder, hunger, etc.
(4) In retail businesses, you cannot use Dazzle more than once
on a customer, you can only use the lesser Sales options
(5) No using Rally Forth more than once a day on the lot and no
meditation! If you're tired, you have to close the business
and go home to sleep, that's what real business retailers do.
(6) And finally, NO hiring townies until your owner is immortal!
These are family-run businesses and the family has a ton
of reservations about townies finding out about their 'secret.'

* Finally, each of the immortals-to-be must have a portrait painted of them at each stage of their life except baby - toddler, child, teen, adult, and elder. The founder only needs adult and elder portraits of them. These must be displayed on the home lot in a sort of 'museum' - it can be a hallway in the house or a gallery underground or in a building outside of the house, whatever you wish, but you must have a total of 37 portraits representing the family lineage as they grow from youth to elder-hood displayed proudly on the lot.

Ghosts:

Since ghosts can scare a Sim to death and since there's no "death blossom' to protect your immortals from accidental scaring to death, you will have to do something about the ghosts of your spares and spouses so they do not scare your Sims.

(1) Lock them underground where they can't escape
(2) Put them in your immortals' inventories and never deal with them.
(3) Put them on a community graveyard. (If you have Nightlife)

Scoring:

Once the last generation heir qualifies for Elixir and takes his first sip of it, your challenge is over. Have a group picture painted of them and display it to show your success!

Scoring is very simple. Total up the net income of all your immortals' businesses and the net value of all 37 family portraits. The more masterpiece portraits, and the better you did in running the businesses, the better!

I have a couple of mini-challenges in my update post.

Final Thoughts:

Please try this out and PM me or post your progress to let me know what you think and if there are any questions, PM me and let me know - I am trying to replicate the Immortal Dynasty, but without the skill challenges(since there are only seven skills in Sims 2, mastering skills is pointless except for jobs) it's pretty tame. Any suggestions to improve this will be helpful. :)

EDIT FOR LATE NIGHT: Since I only got Double Deluxe, which has Late Night hard-wired, I added a few new rules for that expansion in boldface.

Very nice! I have tried this challenge on The Sims 3, can't wait to try it out on The Sims 2!

Sounds interesting :) I do have one quick question: how would you have spares if there was only one pregnancy per generation?

M3g7e: you would have a "spare" if the pregnancy resulted in twins (or trips/quads with the associated mod, but that would cause problems with later generations!).

I would naturally assume that the baby you name first would be classified as the heir in this case...

Yes, that's correct, Selly. And the reason I only allowed one pregnancy per generation is because that rule doesn't exist in the Immortal Dynasty, which means that it's possible that Sims in that challenge would end up having six kids, which is a no-no in the Dynasty because nobody can leave, they all have to die and therefore you have slots filled by spare children. By restricting pregnancies to one per generation, unless you're using the random trips and quads hack, the only chance you'd have a spare is if you had twins. (Adds in no-cheesecake rule as an afterthought, oops :() In Sims 3, you could have triplets naturally, but the people playing that challenge try to restrict each generation to one baby a generation to keep slots free.

If anyone knows about Tom "Metro Man", who created the challenge, please let him know about this and have him contact me. I will PM an e-mail to the person who lets him know. I was semi-banned from the forums there and I can't contact him there. :(

This challenge is simpler because there aren't more than seven skills and badges in Sims 2 with just OfB, so the badge rule would have to wait for FreeTime and Seasons updates. I am going to start with just Open Bor Business(once I get my hands on a copy of Sims 2 vanilla, no Deluxe, I have a copy of OfB) and work from there. I will do a test run to see if the rules work but anyone who wishes to try it and let me know any hiccups will be helpful for fine-tuning the rules. I enjoyed playing through the Immortal Dynasty and wanted to do a 'primitive' version for Sims 2. :)

EDIT: I will be putting updates for Nightlife as the only Sims 2 I could get was Double Deluxe from Gamestop and that has Nightlife hard-wired into it. *sigh* I'm too lazy to find a plain vanilla Sims 2 disc. :(

Mini-Challenges:

What these do is make the game a little difficult in exchange for the use of banned Aspirations and additional 'multipliers' which will increase the total score if you succeed in the challenges. So far I have challenges for the Aspirations of Family and Grilled Cheese. These two challenges cannot be taken together and can only be done once(in other words, you can only do this with one Sim you control, this isn't a "you do this and the aspiration is unlocked" type challenge):

Family Sim:

The reason Family is not allowed as an aspiration in this challenge is more practicality than anything else - the idea is that your Sim needs to get perma-plat to be able to drink Elixir(not only as a duty but also because perma-plat Sims won't be in danger of bad Elixir since they're always platinum except for a second if they realize a fear and Elixir fails if you imbibe it before the Sims is in gold or platinum aspiration), and the Lifetime Want makes a Sim perma-plat. Family Sims only have two Lifetime Wants that can be fulfilled without having to have babies - Celebrate Golden Anniversary and Become Captain Hero. The second LTW is also shared by Popularity, so chances are your Popularity Sim will get this LTW before your Family Sim. However, there are ways to have a Family immortal...

* You must declare that you are doing this handicap challenge before you even start this legacy challenge and decide whether you want the founder or an heir(I will update this for marrying in Family Sims later) to be Family.

* For the Founder, you must decide which of the eligible two LTWs (Captain Hero or Golden Anniversary) you want to fulfill AND YOU CANNOT CHANGE IT EVER. He must also do all the toddler-training of all the toddlers - aka he must teach all kids born in the family to walk, talk and potty before they grow up - and those kids must also get into private school before they become teens and he must invite the headmaster over and do the tours for each visit. If any kid in any generation fails to obtain these objectives, even a mortal spare, then the challenge fails and you must use the ReNuYu Orb to change the founder's aspiration to another aspiration - it can be random. If the LTW hasn't been fulfilled yet(in other words, you fail before he becomes 'immortal') then that LTW must also be changed to a unique one and the former one is no longer acceptable.

* For an heir, they must grow up well each life stage(IOW, they roll the want to grow up well and acheive it) and must be toddler-trained, get an A+ in school, get into private school before becoming a teen AND become BFF with a suitable mate. If they fail to do any of these before they grow up, then the challenge fails and you must choose another aspiration for them - if they succeed, they get to become Family, but their LTW must become "Reach Golden Anniversary" and they must go steady with their childhood sweetheart(aka you age the townie up to teen via cheats or any other method so they can start dating)

Success reward: If you complete this challenge, your score multiplier is 4x - in other words, if you win this legacy challenge, your score is quadrupled the base value of all your family portraits in 'Scoring.'

Beyond Cheesy Deluxe:

Grilled Cheese is not an aspiration you would associate with Amanarthine immortals considering that all they love to eat is Grilled Cheese and they never have any LTW other than eating 200 of the sandwiches. However, if you really want a Grilled Cheese Sim, you have to be devoted to the Goddess of Grilled Cheese before you can get one of your immortals to be Grilled Cheese. (Only heirs can be Grilled Cheese, no spares, spouses or the founder can be this aspiration.)

* Roll a six-sided die and add one, this is the generation your Grilled Cheese immortal-to-be will be in.
* Like Bitsy's challenge, your Sims - from the beginnings of your founder to the teen birthday of your Grilled Cheese heir - cannot eat anything other than Grilled Cheese. This means no cake(they must be force-aged) and no breakfast(as only Grilled Cheese Sims can eat Grilled Cheese for breakfast) unless you've made group servings of the stuff in inventory.
* If anyone eats anything else(either autonomously or you make them) then the challenge fails and you aren't able to have a Grilled Cheese Sim.
* Once you succeed in the challenge, then you don't have to worry - your Sims are free to eat other stuff.

Success reward: If you complete the challenge and your destined immortal becomes Grilled Cheese(they must suffer a ReNuYu Orb failure - you cannot use cheats to acquire this aspiration in the challenge), then your score multiplier is 3x, triple the base score in 'Scoring.' If you rolled six and your family ate Grilled Cheese until near the end of the legacy story, increase this to 5x as it's very difficult to make Sims not eat anything else for seven generations! (Google "Official Wacky Boolprop Challenge" to see why it's so hard to do so!)
