View Full Version : Architect sims messing up houses?

I just started trying out to be Architect/Interior Designer. My sims went house to house to add stuff and edit people houses. It is certainly my discretion on what to put and where to put them, but the game does give requirement of what to add into client's house, like "a rug" and "a shower" in this particular job.
At this rate, I will effectively change a lot of lots in my neighborhood. Is there a way of not altering lots permanently at all? In some cases, I love certain lots to be exactly the way they are, sometimes I dont even see how I can add another shower without seriously altering the house design. Unless I just place a shower there in the garage or worse, next to the mailbox.
I don't want to avoid trying these Ambitions' professions because I paid real $$$ for, but I don't want to have to deal with the hassle of changing active household to "fix" the changes I made earlier.

The only way I can think of around this problem is to copy each of the houses into the lot bin. Then occasionally use Edit Town. You would evict the sims into the clipboard, bulldoze the lot, and replace it from the lot bin.
If this is really a problem, you might be better off simply not using that profession.
I know, you were hoping for some one or two click fix, but there isn't one.

It's ok, I don't expect miracles out of everything. But it doesn't hurt for me to spend the time to ask, I will not miss out a good solution.
I hope Fire fighter will not leave my neighborhood charred with burnt houses and dead sims.

Or you could complete the job, testingcheats, build/buy on lot, and then delete what you just added.
It's not too complicated and, really, it should be okay to do :)

Which cheat lets you build/buy on current lot again? I can turn on this feature via AwesomeMod, but I still prefer to know the actual cheat.

Testingcheatsenabled will let you edit any lot you happen to see, regardless of lot type.

Hmmm, are you sure? I have Testingcheatsenabled on permanently via AwesomeMod, but whenever I hit F2, it goes back to my lot.

I am completely sure. You need to hold down Ctrl and Shift while left clicking part of the lot you want to edit.
I know this because I've done this many times.

Except for the fact that it's only shift-click on the lot you want to edit ;)
ctrl-shift-click is for things like editing tomb triggers or light colour while in Buy/Build Mode.

You don't need to shiftclick to build on any lot.
Have you enabled AlwaysBuildBuyHere in awesomemod? Then just hit F2.

Remember, you don't always have to add another shower. You could upgrade one of the existing showers to a more expensive one.
It might be easier trying the Architect career in a Neighbourhood where you only play one sim household. Then you won't care about what the other sim houses look like inside (indeed, if you start with a default EA Neighbourhood, you know they'll almost all be ugly and need changing!).

Good idea, I didn't know you could do that. But I think I am done with that profession for a while.
I realize I didn't know too much about this game without having to try out everything the EP had to offer. But right now I am spending more times trying to make a script mod from scratch.
Is there anything great coming out of this profession beside aimlessly modifying other people lot non-stop and earn a few $$$ along?

Remember, you don't always have to add another shower. You could upgrade one of the existing showers to a more expensive one. Or you could even just replace the object with the exact same one, I think... that's what I do when I already really like a room and I don't want to change it.
