View Full Version : Nectary bug since LN?

Soon after installing LN, I've been noticing a change in the behaviour of locals visiting the Nectary in France: They still pee themselves constantly from nectar abuse, but while in the past this lead to them going upstairs and take a bath, now they happily continue boozing, completely oblivious to the green fumes they are emitting. In addition most of the time there is now at least one local household that will stay there for days, and I've always wondered what the hell was wrong with them.

Now I play a custom world that contains a Nectary and I think I know now what's happening: LN or its patch changed the Nectary such that non-active visitors' motives, namely energy and hygiene, get locked and stay like that, sometimes for days. I noticed this when I sent my main family there and switched to another household after they had arrived. Upon returning to them several hours later, their energy and hygiene levels were at 80% and wouldn't move anymore. One of them must have peed itself because it had the red sock moodlet but hygiene was at 80% (no wonder the French locals felt no need to bathe) and sending it to a shower did not change that, sending them to bed also did not increase energy, meaning they would have slept until the end of the world if I hadn't reset them then.

This is repeatable in my game and the only thing is that inactives' motives seem to restore to normal levels after a while but my actives' one don't unless I use a resetsim on all of them.

Now, long story, short question: Has anyone else encountered this and is there a fix?

I'll have to check that out in my game. I just visited France for the first time since installing LN and after a couple of days checked my simmies to see how much time was left and discovered the travel bar hadn't advanced at all. I had to manually send them home. Didn't check the moodlets and didn't visit the Nectary so don't know if I had that problem too. Obviously EA hasn't fixed everything that LN botched...despite the 3 patches since the release!

Ok, I think I know what's happening. Locking energy and hygiene is something that comes with LN bars.

I just had it happen for the first time that a non-active patron peed himself in a lounge. I made him active on the spot and noticed that his energy and hygiene bars were both locked at 80% (that's with AwesomeMod that gives you motives in numbers plus the decay rate. In this case it was 80 and no decay). He had the smelly sock moodlet but as his hygiene motive was at 80 nevertheless he felt no need to do something against it and just stood around and sniffed his armpits.

That was exactly the behaviour I observed in the Nectary and so it seems that with LN nectaries are treated like nightlife spots. While this makes sense in some way as it ensures that non-actives stay long enough for your amusement, in the case of a nectary this locking of motives is somehow noisome. For two reasons: First, nectar depletes bladder like nothing else and pee fests are a regular pastime in a nectary, but if there's no change in hygiene accordingly, Sims will not shower or take a bath afterwards. Secondly, nectaries have no closing time and so non-actives will not be booted out at a certain time. Now as they will not get tired and can fill their hunger and fun needs with nectar there's no need for them anymore to leave and they might as well make themselves at home there.

Edit: Maybe this should be moved to the Discussions forum now?

Yes, I have seen the nectary bug, exactly as you described it except at the time I discovered it they were not peeing themselves. (Thank goodness.) But I did have to use the reset sim cheat on them to get them unstuck. As soon as I did, their energy levels would deplete to something along normal lines considering it was after midnight. ETA: This was a custom nectary lot in a custom world, not the nectary in France but I suppose that doesn't really make any difference.

Another bug that happened to me which could be related to this, is one day I noticed that my nectary was literally littered with nectar trays. There were only a few sims there at the time but the trays were ALL OVER, inside, outside, front yard, back yard, all over the tables and floors, everywhere trays of nectar glasses! It was bizarre. I had to bulldoze the lot to get rid of the problem. Later I put it back in and didn't see that issue again although I no longer play that save game so I don't know if that bug would have returned or not.
