Hello, everyone ! ;)

I would like to use a mirror effect for a hairstyle so that it could look symetrical.
But I have no idea how to edit the mesh of the hairstyle... And yet, I follow the Hairbasics tutorial...
Coud you help me, please ? :(

Thanks in advance for your answer... ☺

You select one half of the mesh(select and use select ''faces'' at the select options)
Choose duplicate selection from the edit menu
Choose Mirror Left-Right from the vertex menu
Next thing is alligning the normals wich might be a bit hard when the mesh has top an bottom layers.
Try using autosmooth(groups tab) mirror it twice and look at the results.
Or try using Demons alligne normals(search this site)
If the other half looks ok then regroup it with the rest.

Thank you so much for your fast answer, BloomsBase ! :lovestruc
The problem is I don't manage to extract a Sims 3 hair mesh (the hair is from Peggyzone)... :(
Could you tell me which software I could use for that, please ?

Milkshape is the most common one used. You could also use Blender.

Thank you very much for your answer but how can I possibly extract a Sims 3 hair mesh ? :help:
I mean how could I convert a .package file to .obj ?

Your best bet is to use TSR Workshop for getting the hair models. You'll need milkshape though.

Thank you very much for your quick answer ! ;)
Unfortunately, I get an error message every time I load the hair :
SmartExceptionsCore.UnhandledException @ 4697, offset:88

Isn't there another software similar to TSRW, which could allow me to load the hair mesh ? :(

What hair are you trying to mirror/clone?

I wouldn't recommend messing with Peggys hair. The way she comments them is a bit odd. Well, that was for TS2, not sure about TS3.

Since you have to pay for that creation, I'm no longer of use unfortunately since I have no access to it.

In TSR Workshop you need to create a new project then select Import and under file type select .package. Then browse to the package file.

Thank you so much once again for your answer ! :D
Yes, this is what I do but I still get this error message... :(

What about trying with a free Peggyzone hair ?

Some reason Workshop doesn't want to load them. I was able to load the GEOM files from S3PE however. You'll need these GEOM plugins for Milkshape to work with them. http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=357403

You'll also just need to right click on all the GEOM files and go under File>Export to file.

Thanks a billion times, Odistant ! :lovestruc

Unfortunately, I have a new problem ; although I can load some GEOM files in Milkshape, I get an error message for some of them :
ERR : bone hash table count table count [a number] too large.
or
ERR :Incorrect vertex count in morth.

What can I do, Odistant ?

Well, Peggy seems to somehow 'lock' her hair meshes, so no one can edit them...I noticed this a long time ago. If you try opening Newsea's hair, they open up fine both in TSRW and in Sim3pe(Using GEOM plugins)

Sorry, I musta missed this post on my forum lurking :jest:

Anyways, like I said peggy creates her hairs really strangly. I'm guessing it has something to do with what she put in the comments. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can really do but to attempt to recreate it. Or you can possibly try changing the bone count in the Grid for the GEOM file (S3PE). Though, I'm not sure if that's even possible.
