My Take On The Cast of Firefly and Serenity

Thus far, I've only managed to make Mal, 2 versions of Wash, Jayne and Kaylee. I'm trying to go through and find the parts I used for each, but I did the texturing of the clothes on my own, and did all the faces. Jayne got the royal treatment for having so many darn t-shirts.

I actually made this a while back, and tweaked it a bit. I remember sitting there with one of the Firefly books going back and forth on Nathan's face for hours.

The Teddy bear, heart, and flower all come from actual pictures of the costume parts and I've even included the chinese characters drawn on her coveralls, for good measure.

Alan Tudyk is harder than hell to replicate in Sim form. I feel I've done an okay job here. The outfitI feel I need to redo using a different mesh with rolled up sleeves, because right now he's got HUGE cylindrical forearms and it looks awful. I know that's something I need to fix. The vest is made from pictures of the exact type worn on the show and, having duplicated this costume in real life, I went for the details as much as I could.

Every patch is taken from a picture of the ones used on screen and the harness is made up of different shots of the costume piece as displayed on propstore.com when it was for sale.

Jayne Cobb- (Adam Baldwin) Various outfits, some movie, some show.
I think I'm most proud of this likeness so far. He even looks like him without the beard.

I have to admit, making those t-shirts was fun. For the Movie version, I slimmed his face a little as the entire cast all got into amazing shape for it. If I knew how, I'd make a mesh that included his holster for his hip and added a torn back to his jacket, but as it stands, it's not half bad. It's a little over-the top, but I think the body builder mesh works for the character.

So, any critiques or suggestions would be VERY welcome. Let me know what you think!

Can you please post comparison pictures (preferably as a side-by-side comparisons)? We can't give you proper feedback without the pics to compare your sims to :)

I don't know if I'm too late to be commenting, but Jayne does look really good. It would be nice if you could get his facial hair to come down a little straighter around the lips. Also, the spacing between Mal's nose and mouth seems too small, particularly comparing your Sim in profile to Nathan Fillion in profile. (More overall pics of the actors in profile might be helpful for comparison, if you can find them.)

Have you played around with Rensim's face masks at all? Wash is really hard to do as a sim because of his facial structure, and I don't know if those masks might help. (They can add texture/lines to a face, which is good.)

As for looking for a good mesh to use for Firefly clothes, I don't know if this link will help, but you could look at the meshes that that creator used for their clothing for Wash:

(Also, you didn't post pics of Mal's clothes to critique, but if you've made one where he's wearing his coat, you will be the most terrific Browncoat simmer on the planet.) :lovestruc
