With enough delay between UPS and EA from missing apartment number to ... all kind of troubles, I finally get my copy of Generations.
I have a Saturday class, and tomorrow I have a midterm. I think I am going to so regret installing Generations now, but I am going to do it anyway. Because if CC breaks, game crashes, Error 12 when save, then I know I gotta start diagnosing problems. I think I am going to regret this big time.
Here goes nothing!
P/S: Anyone heard anything from AwesomeMod? It's so quiet over there, is it updated for Generations or somehow known to work with it anyway, or .... I guess I will just have to find out the hard way. For the 1000th time, I am going to regret this. :blink:

There is a test version that is presently undergoing shakedown trials. If you feel lucky, you can grab it.

I was having some issues with the first new test version (romantic gestures between married/engaged couples making them creeped out) but with the second test version I'm able to do those things again. Haven't noticed anything else wrong besides that.

Would you be kind to post the link? Googling "AwesomeMod" gives me 10000 links in which half of them point to something bogus, I am not going to take chances.

I got error code 16 on my first save but it saved right after and reloaded. THank goodness for the .backup copy though.

Teaching you how to fish:
If put your mouse over the link to the current version on the AWESOMEMOD!SHINY! page and look at the bottom of your browser, it tells you what the address is for the download. You want to use that to get to the index (you delete the hax and zip part to get to the index area). The alpha, beta and gamma all have different things under test. Alpha looks to be the most current TEST version. Leaving off alpha and just typing in the address seems to be the same as alpha. From the options in the directory, pick TEST. Right now there is only 1 file in there so click on it to download.
OR....Here's the fish (http://moreawesomethanyou.com/ts3/test/) , enjoy your meal.
*Disclaimer*: I haven't used AwesomeMod in months so I have no experience with this test version I am sending you to, I just know how to get to the Directory from when I used to use the Mod.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good luck with the game and your exam!
Thank for the link, but ... who is supposed to know this link? How is this public knowledge? Most of the websites closed off html directory browsing anyway. And this is like jumping in people's backyard without inviting (there is no link). Maybe it is how Pescado wants, but I feel like everyone knows how to find it, except me.
Sorry, I am just cranky. Spent 3 hours last night looking for this "test" version. But poking AwesomeMod forum didn't yield much good. Latest update message on Pecasdo's download thread was December 2010. And now I am told I am too dumb to guess the URL.
Dunno the land of awesome is more of a read and figure it out sort of forum. I luckily had it linked from the last time there was test runs with late night. Mine is working with awesomemod "test" but I haven't plopped a copy of my saved game back in I've just been testing my mods to make sure I"m up and running again.
I had a hard time finding it too. I found a tiny clue somewhere on their forum (don't remember what it was) that made me think to do what I explained in my last post. The fact that it is difficult is why I explained exactly how to do it rather than just giving out the link. If I just gave you the link and you lost it, you wouldn't know how to get there again.
I hope you don't think I was insinuating that you are dumb (the whole fish thing was my poor attempt at humor). Honestly, I don't use AwesomeMod because I disagree with the way that people act towards one another in that forum. It aggravated me every time I visited. I decided that I wouldn't continue to go to someplace IRL where people acted that way, so why am I doing that online. So, I decided my needs could be met with Twallan's mods only. And I've been happy with my decision.
And just to be clear, I hold no ill will towards Pescado, his members or those that use AwesomeMod. I wouldn't have helped you if I did. In fact, I applaud Pescado's rescue of many sites that have been attacked etc. AwesomeMod forums just weren't right for me.
if you truly feel offended over a Sims related forum you need to upgrade your EQ. Who cares what people say there, as long as the mod works.
From your pot shot at me and your general attitude, I don't expect you understand. But I'll explain anyways. =)
As you said, it is a sims related forum, so why should I frequent a sims forum where people are ridiculed and cussed at regularly? I play this game for fun. I don't think it is my emotional intelligence that is not up to par. They seem to get satisfaction from such behavior like bullies in a school yard. I wouldn't put up with that behavior in real life so why condone it online? The OP spent 3 hours looking for the test mod and ended up asking here because she knew what would happen if she asked there.
Why should anyone be worried about asking a for help in a Sims forum? If you ask a question here that has an answer elsewhere, no one smacks you down. They give you a link to the place that has the answer. I don't think it is crazy to expect people to respect one another online. And I certainly don't think it is a problem on my part that I can have empathy for people I don't know that are being mistreated.
And yes the mod works. But I find that Twallan's mods meet all of my modding needs and I haven't missed AwesomeMod at all. Twallan's forums are friendly, he answers questions quickly, provides documentation and updates his mods regularly.
*sigh*
People have been comparing user attitudes of different sims forums for as long as i can remember. Why is it such a recurring issue? Just download the stuff and play. There is no need to take things too seriously on the internet. Maybe i should stop posting about this too and get back to the game itself.
I installed it. So far, I've been lucky. There are probably some bugs, but I haven't encountered any yet.
I've only played an adult couple since getting it, so I haven't touched most of the features (they mostly add interactions and features for children and teens I think). However, I don't get any save errors.
However, I *did* update all my mods to the latest versions. For script mods I mostly only use Twallan's, though I also use Buzzler's Carpool Disabler and Moodfix.
Also, good luck with that test!
Speaking of which, I always crash, or have this "TS3 has stopped working" message at the last stage of loading a saved game or even starting a brand new map.
After much switch and try, I found out ... low and behold, it is Twallan's mods that gave me problem.
I have updated all Buzzlers mods, Twallan's mods, Anach's mods and AwesomeMod's test version. I am glad I have URL saved for each and every of these mods so finding source to update is as easy as copy-paste the URL.
Twallan's mods are the last I expect to give me problems. But now I am going to have to switch and test to see which of them is really giving me problem. I knew this is to happen. :faceslap:
