I just got a new computer (Gateway DX4850) and a new 450 Watt PSU so I could play TS3. I installed my GE Force 8600 GTX and two days later the caps blew on the blasted card. So I've been looking for a new Graphics Card. (right now I'm using the onboard chip and not playing) Going back and forth between Newegg and the TS3 WIKI Game Help I've come across an inexpensive card that I think will work while I save up money for a better one. It's the GeForce GT 240 512MB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card.

I'm just slightly paranoid, so I want to make sure that it's a decent card (I know it isn't spectacular) that will allow me to play TS3 while I save up for better parts. I know it will run on my computer, so I'm not concerned about that aspect. There are currently two versions of the card I'm looking at:
This One: http://bit.ly/lXO3jR a GIGABYTE GV-N240D5-512I
and this one: http://bit.ly/jBO9cu a ECS NGT240-512QI-F

Any advice would be extremely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

$70-$80 for old components, 3-generations older than current offerings? I'd go with the AMD 55xx series. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-graphics-card-game-performance-radeon-hd-6670,2935-2.html

Which is basically what I suggested in your older thread.
Since you have budget constraints, I'd go with the 12th tier (from the top): HD 55xx or HD 65xx. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-graphics-card-game-performance-radeon-hd-6670,2935-7.html
That would be fine for low-mid settings in Options.

Oops. I didn't even check the old thread. I was more focused on the other parts in that one. My apologies!
I'll get that one then. You can lock this thread! Thank you soo much ellacharm3d. I really appreciate your help.

Oh, forget to check if the 450W PSU is OK for the 55xx, so you need to verify that.
Else, need to find a card that is able to be powered by that PSU level. Unless you're getting a new PSU... ;)

I can leave this thread until it's archived from being inactive, in case you have further issues with the new replacement.

I checked, it needs a 400 watt, and I have a 450, so that's all set. I really do appreciate your help! Newegg just sent me an email saying my credit card was approved, and it will be shipped Tuesday, so Hopefully by next weekend I'll be able to play the Sims again! :P
