Hello, i followed the tutorial on this site on how to move the My Documents folder (which was very helpful thanks!) to my external hard drive. Everything went smoothly, the game works fine etc.

however, i am a little confused (i'm not computer savvy). So if you moved your "my documents" folder from drive C to drive E (my external drive)...then why is "my documents" still showing up on my main computer desktop and startup menu? Am i suppose to delete the "my documents" from my main computer?

Is "My Documents" in C now linked to my external hard drive? And how do i know if it is?

Im sorry if all this is confusing, thank you for any help you can send my way.

My Documents will still show everywhere it used to. That's normal - it's a Windows folder that's used for all manner of things. If you actually go to the My Documents folder, you should be able to look at the beginning of the file path (in the bar at the top of the window) and see if it starts with C: or E:

Just make sure that your external hard drive is always plugged in - and any other devices like card readers or whatever are always plugged in in the same order as they have always been. If the drive letter on your external drive changes then it won't be able to find the My Documents folder.

Thank you very much for your fast reply!!

I did as you said and the bar didn't display the drive location (I have Windows XP) Just to make sure...
So i went to "My Documents" located on the desktop...clicked "Properties"...under the General Tab and next to Location it says: E:\

So does this mean everything i download (CC etc) will automatically go to my External Hard Drive...and so therefore my C drive will be clean of Sims custom content?

Yes, everything which would otherwise be in your My Documents (sims CC, as well as all your other documents/pictures and so on, if you keep those in My Documents) will now be on E:. All the "My Documents" stuff on C: now is just links to E:.
