I have a Sim who has mastered Mixology and I was wondering what effect the quality listed on the skill tab has on a unique drink. One of the earlier unique drinks my Sim made was listed as Bad quality under the skill tab (even though I had purchased the Better Mixologist reward, which was disappointing), but when he makes it, the actual drinks are Perfect quality. Does that mean the quality listed under the skill tab is unrelated to actual drink quality, perhaps only for naming after another Sim? Is it possible to improve a unique drink's listed quality?

I never notice that, I think I'll check it later, does it really matter? maybe it's normal at least in my game. My sim got the achievement of creating 25 unique drinks and making 500 drinks in total so she never makes a bad drink.

I just did a quick test to see what differences in quality did when naming a drink after another Sim, and I thought the results were interesting:

For a non-celebrity Sim, drink quality does not seem to make a difference. Using a Bad drink and an Excellent drink, the normal Sim reacted positively when both drinks were named after them. However, more LTR was gained when the relationship was at 0 LTR than at 50 LTR (+2.09 vs. +0.75).

Tested against a 5-star celebrity that was able to be interacted with (past the impress stage), the Bad drink resulted in a negative reaction while the Excellent drink was positive. Relationship took a greater hit at 50 LTR than at 0 LTR (-6.0 vs. -3.8) with the Bad drink, while there were greater gains at 0 LTR than at 50 LTR (+2.1 vs. +0.9) with the Excellent drink.

A 4-star celebrity that had not been impressed had the same reactions as the 5-star celebrity. However, LTR remained at 0 for both drinks, and there was no effect on the "Impress Celebrity" progress bar.

tl;dr - Name lower quality drinks after normal Sims, higher quality drinks after celebrities, and don't name drinks after celebrities until they have been impressed.
